Love the food and service. Disappointed in the pricing structure. The only thing worse than pricey is deceptively pricey. The prices themselves are a little high but not bad. They sneak in a 5% "temporary surcharge" whatever that means, on all orders. If you calculate your tip using a suggested percentage, it calculates it based on the post-tax, post-surcharge amount. Seriously, today: One avocado toast One grain bowl Two smoothies $58. Think I'd rather go somewhere that doesn't add a surcharge or is at least up-front and includes it in the pricing of the items so you know what you're going to be charged. A lovely mainly vegetarian restaurant with tons of flavor. I've been here several times already since the opening probably 6 weeks ago. I expected it to be good but it was much better than good. You can tell that everything is made from scratch and each ingredient is flavorful itself. My friends had the veggie burger and raved about it (I'm gonna get that next time). I have been to the Active Culture in Bend a few times and so glad the owner opened one in Marin!! The location in Novato is super convenient. I got the wholesome bowl which was so good. I loved the OG sauce on top. My husband got the lentil burger and he said it was also good. The self serve pineapple and mint water was a bonus! Nice spot, very helpful, attentive staff. The menu is natural/organic vegetarian, with some items marked vegan. The chili was our favorite of four dishes. It came with a teeny tiny wedge of real nice bread. Maybe they we're running out? The quinoa hummus salad was healthful fresh and tasty, but it's not an entree size. The lentil patty in the bbq burger was super tasty as well though I'd prefer a whole wheat bun option. We were disappointed in the burrito, made vegan by omitting cheese and sour cream, and I wish they had vegan replacements to make it taste better as it was dry and boring. They offer modifications but will leave out, not substitute, so it's kind of the same thing vegans deal with at meaty restaurants...it's not going to taste quite as good. Just stopped in for a quick breakfast sandwich and the detox smoothie. The Bagel was so delicious. Lots of avocado and sprouts. The eggs were fresh and perfectly cooked. We love this place and so happy it moved into Novato. As a vegetarian, I actually don't find it easy to eat out here in Marin due to the fact that most vegetarian entrees tend to be mushroom or butternut squash focused. Neither are favorites of mine and tend to be really rich dishes as well which I don't enjoy very often. This place is different - so many options for people who don't eat any animal products or are just vegetarian. I have loved almost every meal here, but it is definitely my go-to when it comes to acai bowls. I love them so much. Their special shakes are also delicious, including their dairy free ones. The wholesome bowl is another favorite as is the heuvos rancheros , but there are just so many options that are both flavorful and just make you feel good! Service is always friendly and efficient. I really want to love this place. Healthy menu options, open seating concept and family friendly vibe. I got the green smoothie and a garden type quesadilla. The smoothie was pretty good although small for the price, possibly 12 oz but I'm not good at volumetric analysis. The quesadilla was very lackluster, 8" tortilla with cheese, cheesy type unknown spread (very, very salty) and trace amounts of sprouts. Topped with a quarter of an avocado and served with chips and a salsa which appeared pink because the tomatoes used were grainy and refrigerated. The quesadilla presentation was four quarters jammed on top of eachother in a tiny box with chips on top so it looks super paltry and unappetizing. I think a lot could be done to improve the perceived value. For both items with tip it came to about $25. read more

We eat here often. The food is good. One night we arrived at 7:45 and asked if it was still okay to order and eat there since they were closing at 8pm. We were told they were open until 8pm and it was okay. We asked about the infused water and the server said it was put away and didn't even offer us water. While we were eating she started moving chairs across the floor, sweeping and mopping right next to us while we were trying to eat. It was very unpleasant and made us feel uncomfortable. We picked up our food and moved outside to eat. Then she shut the electric window and closed the restaurant. It was so unpleasant. It was very apparent that she didn't want us there. She was given the opportunity when she was asked to say they were closing or closed and she didn't. So instead she let us know in other ways that we were not wanted there and should eat and leave quickly. I work in the service industry and would never treat customers that way. There is a lot of competition out there and I plan to take my business elsewhere. It's very unfortunate. I even left a tip! read more
