Naperville has always had a fairly good selection of stores for the suburban yuppies out there and Adagio teas is not one to be discredited from. Right away I was floored at the amazing selection, purity, and strengths of the teas offered. You' ll always have your standards but it's the fusion mixes that I love and you'll be sure to find a sea of them here. Prices are reasonable along with your random add-ons of fancy tea pots/paraphernalia to embrace your tea lover with. I loathe Naperville more than anything, and the downtown area in particular. That said, Adagio is the only reason I drive the 20 or so minutes to Naperville every so often. The tea offerings are a bit more simplistic than a Teavana, which I find appealing. Instead of 15 million crazy blends, there are black, green, oolong, etc. teas, all flavored with one or two notes. The newer line of blends are great too though, don't get me wrong. I'm a devotee of the rhubarb green, the black cream, and the white blueberry in particular. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. I rarely let anyone "sell" me anything, but I wound up with a blend I hadn't planned on purchasing because it was offered in a polite, non-pushy way. They will help you to sample anything you're on the fence about. Prices are more than reasonable, so I can buy more than one kind of tea, unlike some places that will run you $12 for 2oz. My only thumbs down is that it's a bit too quiet in here sometimes, but I understand the reasoning behind creating a serene atmosphere. read more

Great experience! I am a tea lover, and when it comes to tea, I notice every little detail about my tea experience. The first thing I'd like to note is tea itself, this store offers a great selection of tea, everything is neatly organized to easily find whichever tea you prefer or even try something new. I bought two different kinds and loved them both. Another thing is tea accessories, also the store has plenty of them. I bought a very cute tea infuser. Finally, the most important thing, at least for me, is customer service. Very friendly and knowledgeable young lady answered all of my questions and recommended great tea. First discovered this place because of a mailer with a sampler of their candy-cane holiday tea. It was marvelous & what a great promo because it gained both of our business !! Our first adventure to the store was using a Groupon deal: $21 Tea Tasting for Two. The tasting was very informative - we seriously had no idea about the different drying & roasting processes - and our guide (sorry I forgot her name) did a wonderful job. Not only did we enjoy some snacks with our tasting, but we each got to select a teapot as a take-home gift as part of the Groupon deal. Yeah !!! And of course, we both bought a couple of bags of tea for home. Overall, the store is very clean, with a nice layout & well organized. They offer a very nice selection of loose teas, categorized, and with descriptions for the uninformed such as myself. They also offer a tea "bar" so you can order one of their various fresh hot or cold teas to-go. Pricing seems reasonable and you can order all of their products online. They also offer seasonal/holiday teas that are wonderful. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because arranging an appointment for the tasting was less than easy. However, it was a new process for them (this was January 2013) and I'm sure it has since improved. Definitely recommend Adagio teas! read more

This was my first visit to Adagio at my sisters recommendation. Great little shop with a good variety of teas available. I liked that they have options for loose or bagged teas for each flavor and that they had a sample of each available in a clear plastic tub so you could see what each looked like and how it smelled. They also offered up samples of any flavor you wanted to try. They had a nice variety of tea pots and mugs and small containers to store tea in. My only suggestion for improvement was that they have restroom available for customer use. I desperately needed to use the washroom upon entering their store and was told they don't have restrooms for public use which was quite frustrating. All things considered, very pleased and will go back next time I'm in Naperville. read more

My friend had a Groupon for 2 for a tea tasting and instruction. I went with her and we had an hour with Peggy who taught us all about tea; where it comes from, the different kinds, health and well being benefits, etc. Peggy was delightful, answered all our questions, and we got to taste different kinds of teas that she picked out. We also got to choose any teas that we would like to try in the store. Loved this place and will go back and bring friends. I also bought a Groupon to take my friends with. It seems like your typical "tea place" like Teavana or that other one...but it's better! The staff there is SUPER friendly and knowledgeable. They're willing to even let you try the teas before purchase. Which is great because some of the teas smell amazing but don't taste like you'd expect. The prices are very reasonable, and everything is all natural (no artificial flavors, and they have locally sourced honey for sale as well!) I'll be coming back for more for sure! read more

Immediately upon walking in, the smell of all the herbal teas was so great! The atmosphere is so welcoming and any questions I had were answered by the friendly sales associate. The staff in here are so friendly and knowledgeable. I first stopped in on a whim looking for a gift for a hard-to-buy-for family member, and everyone I talked to really knew their stuff. They helped me find something easily even though I wasn't sure where to start. As for the tea itself, it's delicious! I've been back a handful of times since then, mostly shopping for myself, and everything I've had there is just yummy. They carry a massive variety of what seems like every kind of tea, and most of them are available either pre-bagged or loose. There's a cute gift section toward the front, too, with some teapots and cups, and you can get a cup of tea to go if you want one while you're walking around downtown. This is such a lovely shop. My first shopping experience was through a tea tasting event purchased through Groupon. This event was a fun, informative, tasty experience. We purchased several unique, delicious teas at that time and have been back to buy more. The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable, always happy to brew any tea that piques our interest. We love tea, but until recently only drank the supermarket brands. Visited Adagio teas and after purchasing some loose leaf chinese tea suddenly realize what good tea tastes like. We were helped by a lady named Violet, a passionate tea drinker, and she took the time to explain the differences between the regions and flavors of the teas, and then helped us choose and taste some she thought we would like. She was super friendly and helpful, and my wife and I love the tea we bought. I can imagine the price would scare many people off buying the tea, but we found that a bag can last a long time, and you can actually reuse the tea leaves multiple times, so really this its decent value for a great cup of tea. Unlocked a yelp offer for a free cup of tea, and went to check out the place. The location is great, the store is neat and they offer a wide variety of teas at reasonable prices. I wasn't too happy about the service- I was assisted by a guy and an older woman, and while the woman seemed to be very standoffish, the guy was very friendly. However, (I was the only one in the store) and was immediately assisted, and both were very informative and knowledgeable about the tea selection. I'll chalk it up to an off-day and hopefully she's in a better mood next time I return! read more

I was introduced to this lovely tea shop today after spending the afternoon shopping in downtown Naperville with my friend. Lisa was very friendly and more importantly knowledgable about the teas. I told her exactly the flavors I like and was shown many varieties. I asked about matcha because it's been dubbed the miracle tea of our time. She made us both a cup of matcha and explained all the benefits and process of how it is cultivated. It was like two friends sharing an intelligent conversation about tea. My husband and I were out shopping for the day and discovered this by accident. Having just starting drinking tea this past winter, I have been frequenting Teavana for loose leaf teas. I was delighted at the variety, packaging and customer service. The staff were very helpful in describing the varieties. The opportunity of tasting the tea prior to purchase was very helpful. This was my first visit to Adagio and it was wonderful. The manager, Laura, was there that day and greeted my friend and I warmly, offering assistance if we needed it and informed us that if there was anything we would like to try she would gladly brew us a cup. The shop is well organized, generally by tea type and then also by loose and bags. There were also lovely displays of merchandise for home-brewing or gifts. In the back of the store there was a cool speciality section. This had gift sets of tea made for specific fandoms (e.g. Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, etc.). They also had teas for each zodiac sign and the blends seemed pretty accurate. In addition to other honey offerings, this location has honey from a local beekeeper in Naperville, which was exciting. I am an Earl Grey fanatic and I ended up leaving with three different kinds (who knew there were so many?!) and a couple fruit teas for my husband. They had a promotion going on of Buy 4, Get 1 Free so one of my teas was free. Laura also told me if you register with them you can earn points ($1 = 1pt) and when you earn 100 you receive a $10 certificate AND POINTS DON'T EXPIRE! How could I say no? Overall a successful outing and I will happily be going back when my supplies are running low. read more

This is a jewel of a store and the staff are the diamonds!! I went to pick up an order on Saturday and planned to hurry out but the staff was so friendly and Brett offered a free sample. I accepted and he mixed vanilla and pomegranate green teas together. It was fabulous! I also purchased an infuser and later, when I returned home, my girlfriend and I had a wonderful afternoon sipping tea. This place is 1 of the not so hidden gem of downtown Naperville. The vast selection of tea is astounding but the best of all is that they are not shy of letting you try different fresh steep tea from their selections for free. Unlike teavana which is a bit over price and where the sales person just fan out the tea can in your face to smell the tea aroma, in this place you can actually wonder around the store admiring and smelling the scent of all different kinds of infusions from the most earthy tone flavors to flowery and fruity mix. I was too intimidated to visit this store until I bought a Groupon for a tea tasting. I had thought it was just another snooty, overpriced tea store. Not at all. The staff was very friendly and very knowledgeable. In fact, I can't wait to schedule another tea tasting with my Mom! They even sell tea bags. The prices are reasonable and the selection is amazing! Not impressed. As a hopless tea connoisseur, I was expecting more from a specialty tea boutique. While they had an extensive selection, most of the teas were too earthy for my taste. In fact, I prefer Republic of Tea line of teas to these teas hands down. But I must mention, the service was indeed excellent. read more
