He may have given a customer a beer and gave me a baklava because I was a girl not sure what that means. I really enjoy this family owned restaurant and enjoy the owner that is always cooking and serving the food. The serving sizes are bountiful and the food is well prepared. There is a good ratio of quality to serving size to value. My continuing drawback is service time. Even though I call ahead and order (3 different times) and show up 40 to 60 minutes later when they tell me to, but I find myself waiting 20 to 30 minutes for the order. It is not like rush hour. This is easily the best Greek food I've ever had, with a special shoutout to the baklava. I've always found the dessert too sweet, but this was rich and perfectly balanced. The gyro was truly outstanding, the beef and chicken shawarma were excellent, and this is the only hummus I've ever genuinely enjoyed. Place was mysteriously empty of customers when we arrived, but within ten minutes it was clear we'd just beat the rush. Still the best gyros around Carmel! I asked him about the gyro meat after seeing an interesting how-its-made YouTube video about gyro meat. He said that for years, he's been purchasing the same (very expensive) gyro rolls, and "it is the best gyro meat available--I could buy the cheaper one, but my customers understand the quality of my gyros"--prefaced in his words. Recently, Adel's had been burglarized, and closed for a week. Undaunted, he reopened recently and the community has kept him busy everyday since! Hole in the wall with huge portions and very friendly service! Came for a late lunch due to it having lots of good reviews. Man working was very polite. He has the ability to make you feel extremely special and welcomes you graciously. He had the biggest smile on his face when we came in and explained all of his offerings to us. We opted for the chicken gyro and the gyro salad. Let me just tell you that I ate that salad for dinner and still had plenty of left over for lunch the following day. It was filled to the very top with tons of meats and veggies. Ask for their hot sauce if you can handle the heat. So good! The man was nice enough to treat us to a free slice of baklava. Adel's has been our go to spot for many years- I don't want too many people to know about it but if the pandemic takes this spot away... I can't even think about it.
