Clearly the Mac and cheese was a warmed up type you by already made and just warm it up. He said the chili was ok. It was good amount for the money. I ordered the gyro and it was good and it came with so much on it, definitely got my money's worth on it because I had enough left that my daughter took the leftovers to work the next day. Along with that I got a small order of hummus. It presented well. It was ok. It just was very bland. My daughter also had the leftover of that for work and she also thought it was bland. If you are looking for excellent gyros, make your way to Adel's! I have had my fair share of gyros and this place is definitely up there! To top it off, I love the fact that it is a family owned establishment and that the owners take very active parts in the dining experience. To start off, the outside of the restaurant is quite unassuming. I would have probably driven right past it if it wasn't for the signs by the roadside. There was plenty of parking when we arrived for a weekday dinner. They had limited outdoor and ample indoor seating. The dining room was very spacious and pretty clean. The menu was a bit scattered due to it being posted in bits and pieces on the counter (a consolidated menu would be awesome!) but prices seemed fair. The owner was manning the cash register and greeted us with a huge smile, eager to help us satisfy our hunger. The slowly rotating slab of lamb in the background had me honed in and ordering the regular sized gyro with fries. When the food was ready, the owner personally brought it to our table and checked in with the other guests to ensure that there were no problems. Upon opening the box, my taste buds shouted with joy. They certainly did not skimpy on the sandwich fillings. In fact it was so packed, that it was difficult to pick it up and eat it as a sandwich. I instead ate it with a fork and knife...something I was not upset about at all. The fries were also pretty tasty and in a large portion size. Just as we were wrapping up with our meal, the owner's wife came by with a couple of dessert samples for each occupied table. Certainly a wonderful touch and it allowed us to sample some authentic tasting Greek sweets! Overall, I had a lovely experience and truly appreciated the personal touch that Adel and his wife added. Sooo I usually do not leave reviews that are this low, but I wanted to offer insight because I was SUPER excited for Adel's. I went to Adel's and ordered a falafel, because recently I have been nothing short of obsessed!!! Anyway, the food in general was decent, nothing to lose your mind over, but all the while, pretty good. (good enough that I would gladly buy it again) What the biggest let down was was the wait time and customer service received. Adel's seemed short staffed, because there was only one man working the counter and he was answering calls, writing down notes, as well as doing all the cooking. He was pretty friendly, but pretty quiet. Overall, from the time I order to when I received my meal was around 20 minutes and I was the only one of two people in the store. I get off work having a taste a gyro, so i looked up the nearest gyro place in my area, than i read the reviews. Everything to seem to be okay, pretty decent reviews, so i called in the order and they told me 15mins no problem. So i proceed down looking forward to juicy gyro experience, so pull i up to the place and it looks very very suspect. So i walked in and the first came to mind is this place need some interior help very badly. Then i walked to the front , OMG this place is a dump , the cooking area is super nasty. Whoa. I decided to come here because it was on the 2015 Yelp Top 50 Indiana Restaurants list and I figured I'd put another notch in my belt for trying to eat at every restaurant on the list. The fact that it was closer to my new office helped out a bit, too. Adel's Gyros is in one of those hybrid strip centers/medical buildings that are designed to look like houses with pillars out front and windows on the roof that don't seem to lead anywhere. I knew once I pulled into the center that the place was going to be a dive, and I was right. You could almost call it a dump, but I feel really mean for saying that. Regardless, the tiles haven't been replaced in eons, the walls are marred with nicks from the chairs, and Greek Orthodox iconography are awkwardly placed throughout. I just looked at the list, and this place is #17. Naturally, the second thing that ran through my head was, "Then, this food better be a life-changing experience for me." Only one man was working; I went in after the lunch rush, maybe 1:30p or so. Two parties were sitting outside and another were inside. I had a difficult time trying to choose what I wanted to eat because everything sounded so good. Remind me the next time I go to try their spanakopita, dolamities, baklava-- oh, screw it, I'm going to make it a point to try everything on their menu! I ultimately decided to go with the falafel and it was really amazing, served on a bed of pita bread, tomatos, onions, and cukes with hummus and tzatsiki on the side. I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be eaten as a sandwich, but no matter how hard I try, I can never keep all of my fillings in my tacos, so I ate them all individually. The falafel itself was piping hot, so I managed to get through one of them before deciding to eat my veggies. In that time, they were still warm, but bearable to the touch. The falafel were crispy on the outside, but not super crunchy like some are, and the pita, hummus, and tzatsiki were clearly homemade. So the four stars is attributed to its shoddy decor and ambience, but honestly I think their food more than makes up for it. I didn't have a menu, so I ordered the beef schwarma. As I pulled up, I saw the sign advertising gyros, schwarma, falafel, and I got so excited thinknig about a falafel next time. When you walk in, the place is extremely bare bones. No artwork, machinery (sort of- like an ice cream machine type of machinery). The employee/owner showed me my meal (oh, it looked delicious!). I told him it looked great. He walked over to the side and threw a piece of baklava into the mix, too. I "Yay"-ed with excitement (not a huge fan of sweets, but I love baklava). I asked how long he had been there, about "two weeks and a month," I believe the reply was. I grabbed few menus and told him that I would take once- I ordered the schwarma since I knew they'd have it, and I'd hand a few menus out at work. He handed me a few with a dollar off coupon included. On the very short drive back to work, I was really excited to dig into my meal. Once I did, it was damn delicious. Adel's Gyros is a place most might drive by when you see the outside. Or you may turn around and leave when you walk in. It may not be much to look at but it does serve good gyros and hummus. I had the spicy hummus with pita. The hummus is somewhat runny but has good flavor especially with the chili paste on top. Not really middle eastern but still tasty. The gyros are huge and easily make two meals. Spit roasted, not cooked on a flat top. The tatziki has large chunks of cucumber and is very good. Could use more garlic though. Give it a shot, maybe Adel will use the extra income to renovate the restaurant. read more

Well, it's a bit of a hole in the wall. I'm okay with that. Some of the best food I've ever eaten has been served out of rinky dink shit holes. The general clutter, however, was a bit odd. There were chairs stacked ceiling high in one corner, random refrigeration units unplugged scattered around. We ordered from a fellow who had a vague resemblance to Abe Vigoda. Sexy Beast pointed this out as we sat waiting for our order. He was polite and friendly but he did get the order wrong. He corrected it without question and with a smile. Drinks are self served. I initially wanted tea. The tea, however, also contained tiny flies. I went with a diet soda instead. The hummus was served cold and way too oily. The salad was huge but made with mediocre ingredients. The gyro was also huge. It was pretty standard. I wasn't overly impressed and I wasn't repulsed. Overall, it was pretty mediocre with slow service and less than stellar atmosphere. read more

3 (excellent) F's: fast, friendly and super filling. Adel himself works super hard behind the counter and has always been in a good mood to see me. He even joked and laughed as we checked out, complimenting us. We ordered on the phone about 10 minutes before we got there, and the food was ready to go! The food is delicious - hot, freshly cut beef and lamb on top of a warm pita with cucumber yogurt and fresh veggie sides. There's definitely enough to fill you up for an entire night. I had a traditional gyro for dinner, attended CarmelFest and woke up the next morning full (and craving more Adel's). As mentioned in previous reviews, the interior could certainly use some work. But don't let that deter you! While this isn't the restaurant to go for a nice dinner, it's a quick delicious and cheap place for lunch and friendly service. Plus, to go is always an option! read more
