So what do you do when you have a leak? I know... call a plumber right, so here is the tricky part... so which plumber do you go with? It is always best that you do your due diligence and get three quotes not for shopping for the lowest cost but for getting the right service at the right price. Honestly I don't even know where I got Adept Plumbing but I had used this company six months ago and today I needed help again. Steven is very responsive and very reasonable. He is meticulous and helps you anyway he can. Steven will do his best to give you the best possible suggestion/choices for your plumbing problem. A quick recap of our problem, Monday morning water was forming in the down stairs bathroom (the floor tiles) and the laundry room right next to it. I had two slab leaks before and I suspected that this could be a third one. Steven came and did his due diligence and narrowed down the cause and before proceeding he recommended that a leak detection company will be the best option to validate his findings. He suspected that the leak was from the pipes from the wall and not a slab leak. The main valve was shut off to minimize the leak... to make a long story short after Steven was correct, the leak detection company located the problem and it was indeed the pipes on the wall. I didnt know where to find a plumber so just googled "plumber 92101" ...i called two other bigger corporate-type places and BOTH said they wouldnt be able to come to my place until the next day. Figures. That wasnt good enough considering I had a gaping whole where two sink pipes needed to fit together. So I called Adept Plumbing which had one positive google review. The owner answered and said that he had another appointment, but would make some calls and find someone to get to my house. Sure enough, an hour later, someone showed up at my door ready to fix my disaster. I hate whoever did the original plumbing in my building, it's bad news. I knew that already, but the plumber kept remarking at what a shit job had been done. Apparently it was not to code and plastic rather than copper had been used...yadda yadda...i dont care about the particulars, all i know is that he fixed it-perfectly. And quickly. He even went to Lowe's, bought whatever it was he needed and was back in less than 30 minutes. He was friendly too and explained to me exactly what the problem was and told me in advance what he was charging and broke down the costs. He helped me clean up under the cabinets where water had pooled and cleaned up the whole mess before leaving. I am not sure who I talked to from adept plumming but they were the only ones who immediatly answered the work phone when I called. My call was not an emergency call but they did come out right away. When the plumber arrived it was the owners son and he walked in knew what the problem was a fixed it promptly. However they gave me a price of 250$. It was about 15 minutes worth of snake work. Had I known this price prior to them showing up I would have went with my HOA's plumber who charges 86$ a snake because I called them the next day for other work i needed done. My fault for not asking I guess. But all in all the service was good I just ended up PAYING FOR IT!!! read more

It has been a couple of months since I called Steve to help with a sewer back up situation. I started calling potential plumbers on a Saturday morning and he was the second one who answered, the other one's 'emergency' plumber on duty didn't return a call. They missed out on a big job. This was the third time we had, had a sewer backup in the lower bathroom on the bottom floor. Up to this point, two other plumbers had been in the house and hadn't fixed the problem. Evidently, they were under the impression that floods happened from 'above' where the water came into the house as the other guys snaked the house and not the sewer line...... the others were not too good with common plumbing knowledge. Steve came out within the hour as promised and began work. He ran a smaller snake down through the old cast iron sewer pipe and it wasn't big enough to clear everything, but he got us going. He then got a larger snake which still couldn't break thorugh so they ran a camera to see what the issue was. They found what the other 'big' guys failed to do, they found the root cause and fixed it. I've read a couple of other reviews on the costs and would share that getting a fix, in my situation was worth it. Also, he was much cheaper in an 'after hours' situation than several other 'emergency' services that have tried to fix items in my house in the past and he didn't tear things up unneccessarily as the other did which cost more money in a total cost situation. I would add that it appears to be a family business and they were ALL extremely responsive, courteous and helpful. I will call on him and his team in the future for this and the fact that they know what they are doing and solve problems completely!! read more

Very expensive! We got charged $1500 for patching a hot water slab leak. Steve cut out the leaking section and replaced it with a new part. Maybe our pipe was just old. The same pipe leaked again 3 months later. Steve came the second time and recommended rerouting the entire pipeline. He quoted us $6000 for only working on the pipeline. He said it would be an additional $2000-3000 if he patched the wall/ceiling for us. I would definitely not recommend. read more

I had really hoped to be able to give a 5 star review. Adept seemed very committed to maintaining their 5 star Yelp status. At first, when we contracted Steven to do work on my rental home in early January, he was so conscientious about letting me know that my tenant hadn't responded within a couple of days of him trying to set up an appointment. He was persistent that I know that the delay was not on his part and that they prided themselves on prompt service. I reassured him that it was ok but he was almost pushy in his texts and requests that I put up a Yelp review about how prompt they are. I said that I'd be happy to post a review as soon as the work was done. He made one of the three requested fixes as soon as he could get in - a small leak under the sink. I paid promptly. The next was a faucet install a few weeks later as he had parts to order. It was slightly more expensive than I thought it should be but, as a landlord in a different state, I don't have the luxury to do too much bargaining. I paid that bill promptly as well so the subsequent issue cannot be because I am not a good paying client. While he was there the second time, he checked out our third issue, which was a toilet that wouldn't stop running in our guest bath. He told my tenant that it would be a 15 minute fix and that he just had to order a part. That was in early February. The tenant and myself have been contacting Steven and Adept since then with no resolution. Another worker came out at my tenant's insistence, said he didn't know what Steven was planning on doing, and left without doing anything. I am extremely disappointed in Adept's follow through. Now, I will have to find and pay a different plumber to evaluate an issue that I've already paid Adept to evaluate and was supposedly in the process of being resolved. read more

I flushed a cosmetics bottle down the toilet that got stuck in the neck, so the first company I called was Bill Howe because they were voted the #1 plumber in san diego. Their rep told me he wouldnt be able to remove it and said i would need to buy a whole new toilet. He didn't charge me for the initial visit, but said it would be $650 for them to provide a new toilet and change it out with the old one. I called Adept plumbing to get a second opinion and steven was pretty confident that they would just need to remove the toilet and push it out the other end. I last wrote how wonderful I thought Adept was 5 years ago. Steven and Adept have provided consistent quality and timely work since then. But just last week, I had a big problem with the sewer trunk line (probably the wrong terminology), the big pipe going from the house to the sewer main. Completely clogged (there is a picture of Steve holding up a long snake of roots on this Yelp site, it was just like that). Steve and his crew handled it very fast... for reference, my next door neighbor had the exact same work done on his place, but he had 3 guys digging and working for 4 days... We were fortunate to get Steven out for an emergency call on a busy day before the Christmas holiday weekend. We discovered a gas leak and called SDGE who came out and turned our gas off to the entire house and red tagged the meter. This meant we had to get a certified plumber out, fix the problem, go down to the city and pull a permit in order to get the inspector out to okay it before we could call SDGE back to send their technician out to turn the gas back on. Did I say this happened 2 days before we were suppose to host 20 people for Christmas dinner? Steven was great. He did everything we needed as fast as possible so we would have the gas back on. We were able to delay the real fix on the leaked line as long as the gas was turned off to that portion of the house. This required Steven to deal with SDGE and convince them that the other line to the house was in working order. Thank goodness because that was the line that supplied the kitchen, bathroom and heat for the main living area. We were able to supply a hot dinner that weekend. Steven came back twice to make the formal repairs to the leaked line which required a new line to be laid. The original line was in the foundation and had to be bypassed and rerouted.
