Blackened Ahi Tuna Tacos & Picante Margarita

Amazing dinner at Adobe Cantina! Antonio was the best server and our margs were phenomenal. We will definitely return when we come back to Cali!

Surrounded by garden patios, Adobe Cantina is the heart of Conejo Valley's Mexican food scene. Whether you're in Thousand Oaks or Agoura Hills, this spot is your next weekend favorite. Experience traditional Mexican cuisine--fresh, vibrant, and passed down through generations. Unique flavors! Authentic recipes! The indoor dining area was a little dark so we decided to eat outside. They do have a full bar. I love the patio garden dining area, which is a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. We started off with The Adobe Margarita, which was so refreshing and chips & salsa was good. It has a bit of spice! The WOW factor is this Molcajete (for 2) with an amazingly delicious guajillo pepper red sauce, which I put on EVERYTHING!! It comes to the table bubbling hot! Although, I would have liked for it to stay bubbling hot a little longer. It's filled with steak, chicken, shrimp, panela cheese, fresh cactus leaf, chorizo and grilled onions. I would have preferred for the onions to not be on top (there was a lot of them) and for the steak to show more instead of being buried. I would have liked a better presentation (from other Molcajetes I've had). The Cochinita Pibil is a slow-roasted Yucatán-style pork that's wrapped in banana leaves. I would have liked the banana leaves for presentation. It was tender but nothing about it wowed me. Service was a little slow even though it was not too busy. We didn't get our water refilled throughout our whole meal. And, it took awhile to get our check.

    Very nice Caesar salad

This place was shockingly good all around! I tried their Caesar salad they're iced tea and their fajitas, not very Mexican inspired dishes, but the overall experience was very good. They seem to be a little bit backed up with one guy trying to manage too many tables and so the service was a little bit slow but once we got his attention it was completely fine. I definitely will come back here with a bunch of friends to share the experience. The overall ambience for the place has a very inviting open feel, I think the pictures that I saw online ahead of time do it justice. This place is also located a little bit by itself which I feel adds to a more relaxed feel, definitely a destination spot but not a far walking distance to the local shopping and eating center.

Jose at Adobe Cantina provided an amazing atmosphere for our small wedding and dinner. He made sure everything went well and it DID!! We couldn't thank him enough for everything her did to make it perfect. Thank you thank you thank you!! And the food was of course amazing as always. Mike and Cassandra

I live on the east coast, however, my son, who lives in Agoura Hills got married this past weekend. Since he has lived in the area for a few yers, we have eaten at Adobe Cantina many times. The food here is EXCELLENT, the prices are very fair and this is all topped by exceptional service. We had my son and daughter in laws wedding welcoming dinner (rehersal dinner) and then brought immediate family there a few days later to celebrate our other two sons' college graduation (see pic). We will definately be there when we visit my son and daughter-in-law!

As close as we can get to feeling like we are in Mexico, while sitting on a patio in Agoura. We come with our dog and he highly recommends the fajitas, the fish tacos, chicken enchiladas and the shrimp tequila. A relaxed, perfect outdoor vibe; management and crew are always welcoming. When family is in town, it's our stop-over on the way back from the beach. I'm happy to see how busy they are and I love the fact that we can bring our pup when we go there.

    Steak and chicken Fajitas!
    David K.

What a great "old school" Mexican Restaurant! We enjoyed a beautiful night on the patio with our favorite waiter Pablo, who even gave us a few more tortillas to take home for the Fajitas I couldn't finish! I love the steak/chicken combo and it was sizzling as Pablo served it. Janet went for a cheese enchiladas, chicken taco and house salad aka "Juanita's Combo"! Too full to get a dessert tonight, but the churros with ice cream, flan or chocolate lava cake with ice cream are awesome!!

I love slipping into Oak & Iron for a quick drink, and one of the best parts is that you can bring over tacos from Bad Ass Tacos--or really whatever you're eating--and enjoy them with your drink. They don't mind at all. On certain nights, they also serve some seriously high-end BBQ that's definitely worth checking out. The vibe is calm, cool and just a little speakeasy-ish. It's the kind of place where you can actually relax and have a conversation without screaming across the table. They also have a really fun trivia night, and the staff has always been attentive, friendly and completely chill. Bring a friend. Bring a group. Have some food and a couple of drinks. Our waiter Danielle provided excellent service--I can't express enough how much I appreciated the attentive and friendly experience. We also received the extra side of blue cheese we requested, which was appreciated. We also ordered the bacon cheeseburger. There was nothing wrong with the burger itself--it was cooked well and prepared nicely. My only personal preference was that the barbecue sauce was a bit overpowering and masked the flavor of the bacon and beef. If you enjoy a stronger barbecue flavor, you may really like it, but I would have preferred a lighter touch. Overall, we had a very enjoyable visit thanks to the excellent service, refreshing drinks, and fresh food. We'd be happy to return.
