There are only two places you should go while in Deming, New Mexico. This place and where ever you happen to be staying if you're an out of towner like myself! (I'll review my other stops) I happen to travel quite often for my company but was lucky enough to be with a coworker who had been here several years prior. He happens to be a true carnivorous meat eater and was in the mood for a steak so the signs pointed to this establishment known as the Adobe Deli...which is off the highway and down a dirt road & renovated from an old schoolhouse. It also happens to be filled with a bunch of cool artifacts, old hats, I thought I saw a bra (44D to be exact), business cards and dollar bills stapled all over the wall, along with some of the fine work of taxidermy ranging from a moose to mountain lion and smaller critters. Just look at the pictures if you are curious to know what taxidermy means instead of asking Siri, millennials! The atmosphere is dark, but the staff is friendly (especially Shaq & Lars who was there on his day off) the bartenders, where you can sit with the locals in "Liars Corner" - Good Times The owner was there roasting coffee beans and stopping by the bar every so often for a fresh cold one while he would tell us a little history about the place, which was a plus to the great night we had there. Got to me the cook who made my steak which was good, not great, but better than average if you catch my drift, along with another cook who shared some New Mexico knowledge over some beverages in the Liars Corner! Overall great times and would/will be back when in Deming. read more

It's kind of creepy with all the taxidermy projects everywhere and was very dark inside. The ladies room felt dirty and was pretty run down. We have been going here for years. Sunday May 23rd 2021 was the worst service we have ever received from any restaurant. Party of 5. Two of us did not get out dinner. 30 min after 3 were served the cook came by and asked how things were. We told him and he made the other two dishes post haste. We gave him a $20 tip right then. We were never asked by anybody for a refill of drinks. No manager working. Seemed like nobody was there to manage just kids serving and working the bar. It was the worst. This place may be on its last leg. The first three meals the baked potatoes were so cold butter would not melt. We left no tip for the servers. What a joke. Happens again and we will strike them off the list. If you are paying $33.50 for a plate of food plus drinks you should have someone around who cares about the business. Worst ever! read more

Worst customer service in the entire food service industry. Rude bitch at the bar acted like we were dirt bags and wouldn't even give us a straight look in the eye much less a straight answer. They were evidently understaffed which I get but a simple "I'm sorry, I'll try to get to you asap" would have been all it took. We waited outside for service which never came and a lady who came in way after us was waited on nearly as soon as she walking in. We got up and took our business with us. They walked a $100 tab...easy. This place needs to just close down. It was filthy, run down and clearly not staffed enough to handle the 10 customers they had. Don't waste your time. read more

We have been going to Adobe Deli now for 4 years... I cannot say enough about this restaurant.... it's good... it's a very unique restaurant as it has many animals all over... if you're in a hurry to eat, don't go here but if not, I highly suggest it... The food is outstanding and they give you lots of it.. be ready to eat... if you go tell Doreen I said hi... We only pass through twice a year as we motorhome full-time and only come on our way to AZ or CO... Yesterday took some friends who've never been and enjoyed it... Me and hubby had clam basket and friends got cheeseburger with Hatch chilies of course and then dessert was amazing... we shared the chocolate suicide cake and friends shared something that had chocolate with peanut butter in it.... we both scraped the plate clean... plus the coffee with it was outstanding... the owner roasts himself and Doreen gave me a sample to take home..... This is a great steak place it's a must try. And make sure you order the onion soup. Trust me you won't regret it.

Went to lunch for Father's. Walked in at 2:10 P.M were told they were very busy. 15 minutes we were seated at a table. We waited a good 45 minutes before a waitresses came to see if we wanted drinks. 30 minutes later she came to get our dinner order again another 30 minute waite. My food was cold I personally hate to go to a restaurant and get served cold food. Granted the waitresses replaced my cold baked potato with still another cold potato. Poor service. This restaurant is located in an old school's gymnasium. It was recommended by the RV Park where we were staying. The decor is an eclectic collection of mounted animals, from North America and Africa. Then there is a variety of old street signs, some western decor, statues and so much more. There's a bar where locals often hangout. Finally, what you come to a restaurant for, the food. It's great! Lunch is served until 2:00. Dinner from 2:00 to close. My husband had the French Dip. It was amazingly huge! The bread was so fresh and the meat lean and flavorful. I had the shrimp basket. We each had more food then we could eat, so we had leftovers for dinner. This is the second time have been here. The first was with a large group, now just by myself. The most striking aspect of this restaurant is the ambiance. It seems like a huge old hunting lodge instead of a restaurant. It's definitely off the beaten path and quite a few miles outside of town by the drive is worth it. Had a fleet Mignon the first time, and for the price got a lot of steak, however have had better quality. Want form tender like some I've had. It came with a Prato but no veggies. Might have this again, not sure. This second time had a cheeseburger, with fries, and it was very juicy and tasty! For what the Burger was it was pretty darn great! Very flavorful. Holy Cow! Best french onion soup IN THE WORLD. Our server, Dorinda was fabulous. We show up on Valentine's Weekend without reservations - no problem. We were patient and she took care of us. Full bar, also no problem since they allowed us to park our rig overnight. Every time we pass through Deming, ADOBE DELI is better every time. How they manage to build on perfection is a mystery. I have been hearing about the Adobe Deli for a few years now but, work always interferes. It finally worked out and we were on our way. The drive can be a bit discouraging even though it is less than 15 miles away it seems a lot further because there is absolutely nothing out there. Of course it was dark and it is winter time down there so the first impression wasn't the greatest. We were not even sure if we were at the right place. As soon as ya get close to the door you know that you've arrived, there are signs of all colors welcoming you. Walking in the door and seeing the Mountain Lions and the bear was pretty exciting. The place was not super busy and our server explained the menu. There are a few inside jokes on the menu that may not be obvious. Bigfoot comes to mind. The beers on tap were limited and warm . Behind the bar they have a huge selection, 120 tequilas, several whiskeys and bourbons too. I was not a fan of the booze being served in shot glasses. I ordered the Osso Bucco and it was amazing, the pork was warm and tender and had a huge sprig of rosemary sticking out of it. (I absolutely LOVE Rosemary). The dish also included apple sauce and a baked potato and the best french onion soup that I have ever had. Another guy with us got the steak Kabob and that thing is a show stopper, I mean a head turner it looked amazing. It comes out on a sword basically and it is full of steak and veggies like corn on the cob, onions, peppers,Jalapenos and a tomato too. For some reason our server was having a bad evening and it showed, she messed up the drinks and the bills were a disaster, She lost one of our credit cards and it was very frustrating. The adobe deli is chock full of history, there is a ton to see and take in. Take the time to make a trip out there and enjoy each room. I got the sausage and pepper sandwich. I counted half a sausage - sliced up. It tasted like it had been boiled several months ago and had been n the freezer since then. Quickly microwaved and served on bread. Absolutely disgusting and mostly a variety of peppers - not much sausage to speak of. For the price, it was definitely not worth the money. This was an out of the ordinary restaurant in an out of the ordinary location. The ambiance was a bit dark with a lot of stuffed animals all over the place. We had a party of 15 and had our own private room. Our server was a bit stoic but attended us well. I had the New York strip and it was delicious. 7 of us went to eat at your restaurant yesterday. We had a 3 pm reservation. I am an out of town visitor and after hearing so many great things about your place my family wanted me to experience it for myself. The waitress Brit seemed rushed and annoyed from the start. We had a split bill so we tried to give our orders as we would pay... 2 single and 5 people. She said no and she would take the whole order and separate it later. In the middle of taking our order she rushed off to take care of something else. She shouted sarcastically at the bus girl and finally came back. We all ordered French onion soup (1 with an order of ribs)and 4 of us ordered salads. We also ordered 4 appetizers. The salads never arrived at all. Brit kept trying to excuse this by complaining that food orders kept coming out and other things. When it came time to get the bill the two singles were ok but the bill for the 5 had everything we ordered on it including the salads we never got. Brit had a terrible attitude about the whole thing and had several more lame excuses about the incorrect bill. The food was very good but the service was horrible and ruined the whole experience. We came all the way from Las Cruces to have a terrible time. I just thought you should know about this. My family eats there frequently but once was enough for me. read more

Last night, I attended a private event in a building separate from the main restaurant. The dinner started with a salad, followed by a huge ribeye steak, buttery, small potatoes and corn (and a roll.) Being gluten free, I found out that the steak was marinated in soy sauce and had to request a new plate, but they were able to accommodate me. Unfortunately, I discovered the marinade problem by taking a bite of the steak, but I can tell you it was delicious. However, I can't eat gluten so I got the unseasoned version the second time around. They also made a massive, epic veggie kebab for my partner. They had a small cash bar set up in the corner with a good selection of drinks. The owner took us all on a tour of the rest of the property, where he has an interesting collection of stuff that I've never seen before! What a gem. Went there with two kiddos and a dog in tow while traveling I-10 and had fantastic sandwiches and French onion soup on the patio. I was initially skeptical when my wife found this on Yelp and because it's in the middle of f-ing nowhere. Definitely one of the most bizarre eateries I've experienced in my life. Located literally out in the middle of nowhere, about 10 miles east of Deming. Service was good, food was above average.....inside of the building was, well, "unique." This place was great. Great ambiance, great food, sassy staff. I stopped here on my way through town on a long road trip, and got me a damn fine steak. My only complaint is that it's a bit off the main road and there's no signage to speak of... so I felt like I was trespassing on someone's farm for a minute, because it looks like an unassuming barn from the outside. My wife and I made a stop here last night on the way home (California) from Mississippi. Let me just say this...the French onion soup looked like the picture and tasted even better! The ribeye steak we had we tender, juicy and delicious. We've decided to make it our regular stop anytime we head in that direction. Our party of 8 ate at Adobe Deli around 4 pm on a Saturday...visiting family who live in las cruces and they were so excited to take us here for dinner. Upon walking in, the smell was immediately unsettling. It smelled dirty, musky, and nasty, and the main room was incredibly dark (like so dark you may just run into tables if you weren't paying attention!) Honestly they probably keep it so dark in there to hide how disgustingly dirty it is. We sat down at a table, and waited for probably 10 minutes before even being greeted. Our waitress came over to take our drink order, and she seemed like she was very distracted and maybe even on drugs. She skipped over one of us, and we had to wait until she started bringing drinks back to let her know she never took the last person's drink order. We then place our food order and she still seems distracted, keeps looking around while we're telling her our order! Now we're wondering if she's getting anything correct. Fast forward to when she starts to bring the food out...a few of us got the French onion soup (as appetizers and with the steak meals) and she ended up bringing an extra soup and said she'd just leave it for us - we were fine with this as long as we weren't charged for it. I have to say the soup was very tasty! Lots of flavor and lots of melted cheese. The main courses start to come out, and our waitress forgets one persons meal, then says she'll be right back with it. In the meantime, the (medium rare) steak someone in our party ordered was insanely rare (basically mooing)! So he says he will send it back to be cooked more. Fast forward 10-15 minutes later and they finally bring the missing dish out, and then take the steak back to cook more. We are all now basically finished with our meals, and this other lady (who we assume was the manager) brings out the steak and asks "who's steak is this?" Sets it down, and walks away without saying anything. If someone's order was not made correctly, the least you can do as a manager is apologize or ask if she can get anything else! All in all, the food was just subpar (except for the French onion soup), the French dip was dry, au jus was cold, the pepper and sausage hero had maybe 5 small pieces of sausage on it, the steaks were bland, and the fried green beans were bland and flavorless. Pretty sad considering the steaks were $30, and the sandwiches were $11. OH and after paying and leaving the restaurant, we looked over the bill again and realized that we were charged an extra $2 PER FRENCH DIP for cheese! NOWHERE on the menu did it say that cheese was extra, and the waitress didn't even tell us that cheese would be extra. She didn't even offer to have cheese or not, so I guess she assumed we'd want it AND charged us extra for it! The bill was all sorts of messed up with extra things being charged (like that extra bowl of French onion soup that she accidentally brought out and left), and with things missing from it. We just wanted to pay and get out of there, so we didn't bother trying to have the bill fixed. Oh and someone in our party asked for a Pepsi to go, but it was never brought out either! So if you've made it this far in my review, you can see why we gave it a 1 star (and that's honestly probably pretty generous). What a find out in the middle of no where! As we were passing through Deming and looking for a place for lunch, we stumbled upon Adobe Deli. Don't be put off by the name...it's actually a restaurant, cigar, wine and whiskey bar! Very quaint and full of stuffed trophy game...they bring in entertainment and throw parties up to 200! The menu is quite extensive, the portions enormous- and everything was delicious! I highly recommend a stop if you are anywhere near here! read more

DO NOT BOTHER GOING TO THIS PLACE! If I could give zero stars I would. My first time to the Adobe Deli last year was absolutely wonderful. Delicious food and wonderful service! Big plates filled with delicious food! Served hot and fresh. The waitress asked if it was our first time and gave us some history about the place and invited us to wonder and take pictures while our food was being cooked. She was very charming and intelligent. However, today was the complete opposite. Waitress was rude and entitled mannered. She got the orders all wrong. Forgot about us many times. We had to find her to get some service. She kept flirting behind the bar with the help. Took 2 hours to even get our food. Once our food arrived it was crispy burnt beyond burnt, dry and the fries were cold. Food was returned. Last but not least, just as we were leaving the AC clicked on and a horrible smell like cat piss and a dirty litter box flooded the room. Now a few hours later everyone is sick.
