Disrespectful Employee (Eric B.) -- All I Wanted Was my Online Order I don't usually leave reviews, but this experience deserves to be shared. I went in just to pick up an online order--nothing more, nothing less. My fiancée was waiting in the car while I went inside, thinking it would be a quick and easy process. Instead, I was met with unnecessary attitude and blatant disrespect from an employee named Eric B. From the moment I asked about my order, he was rude, arrogant, and just plain disrespectful. His tone was condescending, like I was bothering him just for asking for the order we had already placed online. I wasn't rude, I wasn't difficult--I just wanted to pick up what we ordered. No one deserves to be treated like that, especially over something so simple. It's not that hard to be polite or professional, and unfortunately, that's clearly not something Eric B. understands. 6/26/22 Nearly ever time I go to an Advanced Auto Part, the tools and merchandise are normally great, but the staff members aren't inclined to say hello or welcome you to the store 99% of the time. How about those one percenters Today I saw merchandise for The Thin Blue Line and thought about people of have no police affiliation to law enforcement backing the blue. I have done so and I am sure I am not alone. I even saw a steering wheel that could be apart of The Thin Blue Line Family, but is lacking the thin line all the way around the steering wheel. I saw a police issued (so the sign says) flashlights that could come in handy for my wife. I am seriously considering getting her something for her uniform for added protection. Sadly this is my local auto parts store. I went there for a new battery and they were ruder than usual, which is saying a lot. I requested a load test and it said charge and test again but I was pretty certain that the retest was not going make a difference after waiting 2 hours to recharge so I decided to just buy a battery. I asked for a price and was quoted $196 and then I said let me walk to my car and check on the battery size. I was gone maybe one minute and when I walked back she was gone. I waited politely at the counter for 5 minutes and then called into the back room. Crickets.. Finally I asked the other person there if she had gone to lunch. He had seen me at the back of the store for at least 10 minutes but I still had to run him down. He asked if he could help me and I told him I need a battery and we went through the same song and dance except this time the battery was $212. When I asked what happened to the $196 he just shrugged his shoulders. They give you a core exchange amount but then charge the exact same amount for battery disposal. I happen to know they sell those cores to a third party for recycling. If the staff weren't so thoroughly unprofessional i could live with their pricing structure. First off very kind staff. They certainly know what they're doing. That's reassuring, whether you're getting a new battery or windshield wipers. For more experienced car aficionados, they have motor oil and parts. With my newer truck, the days of a couple wrenches is over. Tis a shame, but to those who have the computer skills and mechanical toys, you should find what you're looking for. Price wise they are average. Other places like Walmart can be more competitive. Getting in and out of here can be challenging, due to traffic in the area. It's a decent store. Kudos for their cleanliness, and accessories like floor mats and steering wheel covers. Unfortunately a lot of accessories can be purchased online for less. That being said folks here are honest. read more

Second battery I bought from this location that failed less than 2 years into warranty. My effect takes the car to them and they say the battery is fine. Car is dead and took a truck to jump start. I go to the store and they refuse to replace the battery that's completely dead after 13 months. They offer me a f'n loaner battery??? While they charge the bad battery for 40 minutes. Car start, I drive three miles home and have to get a tow truck because it won't start. 200 bucks at Honda for them to tell me the battery is shot!!!! God bless advance auto on little river turnpike for replacing the battery under the warranty like they should. The Braddock road location sucks! read more

I gave the guy my car year, model and everything, i am not a mechanic, i ask for a lug nut, and i bought 2, but i just needed 1, the he was speaking in the phone with someone and he never put attention to me, he gave me the lug nut i show him the one i had from my car and he says it is ok, i install it in the tire with a wrench and i feel that it is to tight to maje it short, the lug nut never came out from the screw and it had to be cut to remove the lug nut, it was a different model. When i came to refund it he says that there is no refund because it was used, and i told him in a good way that his lug nut damaged my car and i just want my money for the lug nut back and he told me that i was stupid and he is not giving me money back and he is smarter than me, i told him that i want a manager and he told me that he was the manager, then i left very mad and i will never recommend this place, not even to my enemies. read more

I went in for a set of rear turn signals. The gent offered me LED or regular bulbs. I thought why not I'll go with the LEDs and save the hassle of replacing them again. They didn't work in my car and when I went to exchange them for regular bulbs he didn't even turn his head to look at me. He just stared at his computer and said "I cant do anything, its opened. Only if it was unopened". This is ridiculous because the part said it is was fully compatible with my car. This idea that you can sell a product to a customer, take their money and not give it back to them because the product you sold them is not the correct one, it's absolutely ridiculous. The attitude that this guy showed me as well as the rules of bis company make it a terrible experience to shop there. Go to Amazon! read more

I am going to be up front with you -- I am not an under the vehicle hood kind of person and neither is my husband. In fact, he is less so than me, which I learned the hard when he tried to 'fix' something for me early in our relationship. So when I realized I needed to add oil to my aging vehicle I knew this was going to have to be me. I knew the Advance Auto Parts was near a Dollar Tree, Giant, and Starbucks and figured I would encourage myself. I mustered my strength by getting a nice drink first and visiting the Dollar Tree where I got several purple items before heading into Advance Auto Parts. This did not start well -- I walked in the Advance Auto Parts and saw no one. I found the oil and was pretty sure I knew what I needed for my aging European vehicle but was not exactly sure which one to pick (I had it down to three). Much like when picking shampoo there were lots of different options. I figured I would need to find someone so I could pay so I might as well find them before I picked. I headed to the back and had my personal sensor go off when I encountered a couple of guys who did not give me a warm fuzzy feeling, thankfully I was directed to another guy who worked there and he saved the day. He was easy to talk with and never made me feel bad about what I was trying to do or why I was trying to do it. This guy not only saved the day but made me feel like I now have a spot I can visit if I need something for my vehicle. (I think he said his name was Fred.) I expect I will be going back there for windshield wiper blades before too long. read more

This review specifically relates to a fantastic employee named Mark. I came in for a battery test, as my car had needed to be jumped to start. Mark performed the test right away and was super helpful in explaining the various battery replacement options. After the test, which did not indicate a problem, my car unfortunately still did not start, so I went back in the store for more help. Although the store's recharger was not working, Mark came to my aid right away by jumping my battery with his own personal cables. He helped me with a fantastic attitude even though I had told him that Costco had a better battery option for my car. Mark really went the extra mile in providing outstanding customer service and made me want to patronize this store if I need a local auto part in the future. read more

I must say that I don't go auto part shopping very often, so my frame of reference is small. Las Saturday, I walked out to my Jeep only to find that the interior review mirror had fallen off. Oh well, it's 12 years old and has been parked in the sun most of that time, that is the least of my problems. Needless to say, I had to find a reattachment kit. Not only was the staff able to help me instantaneously, but the person who helped me pick out the kit also pointed out were the directions were insufficient. He also answered several questions I had about parts in general, even thought he knew I was about to buy any of them. In the past few years, I have had too many experiences with auto part salespeople not knowing their stock or even automotive basics. For a quick helpful visit, this place gets 5 stars. read more

So I wasn't planning on writing a review on this place since I simply purchased some maintenance parts. BUT the manager went out of his way to fix a problem that he didn't create so I wanted to give him a shout out. An online order of mine was cancelled because of a system problem at the Advance Auto Parts website. Along with the cancellation went my 20% discount from a sale that was now expired. I bought the super duper deluxe battery from them with a three year warranty. When the battery had problems, I took it back.....several times. They kept saying "it's not the battery". Took the car to a mechanic who said "bad battery". Several trips to Advance Auto, where manager would not replace the battery. I bought a new battery somewhere else, even though my Advance battery was in warranty, and have had no issues with the car since. I will never go there again! read more

Pretty standard auto store. No one is ever at the front of the store when I go there though. The workers are always at the back. The people here are as helpful to you to the extent of your knowledge of what you need help with. Does that make sense? A little on the pricier side. read more

The couple of times I've come here, they've been sorely understaffed. If there are more than a couple of other customers in the store, and you need assistance from an employee, you're waiting a while. I've had to leave and go to another auto parts store more than once because it took too long to get a free employee to help. read more

I purchased a light bulb but later found out I opened the bulb package before I realized I had a spare light bulb at home. I tried to return it but they don't accept it because it's opened already. However i didn't used it at all. All other places let people return opened packages. I will have to reconsider returning to that same store next time. read more

I went in to get some serious help for something that may not have seemed serious. But it was a very simple ask. I just needed some sort of needle nose plier, or something of that nature I spoke directly to the store manager James. Who refused even really show me a tool or better tool after I explain and showed him what the problem was. I know the store has a loaner tool program and he acted like it didn't even exist kept telling me know I can't do that no. He was more interested in getting out sooner then spending 5 to 10 seconds helping me use a tool. After refusing several times even care about my situation or be bothered with letting me use a cool really quickly. Or even acknowledging the fact that a tool loaner program actually does exist. I just went and bought the tool he then went to tell me that I couldn't return it after buying it. It was almost as if he was doing anything he could nut help me and make my situation even worse as far as a human being helping another human being with a very simple situation he fails terribly. How he became a store manager was such horrible customer service skills I do not know. So I will just return the tool which is only in like $10 anyway, to a different store. I may even go with directly back to his door just so I can show him the loaner tool program that you won't have listed on your official website because it's there plain as day for the entire world to see. I'd avoid at all cost. Bad experience today with the store manager and pretty disappointed with his general lack of interest in customers. He carried on a long personal conversation while clerk waited for an override and customers waited in line. When I came in he was sitting on his butt playing w his phone instead of helping out with customers. The other store issues now make sense. Blocked a parking spot in front of store - the tons of overflowing trash in the walk out front. I strongly recommend avoiding this location- unfortunate situation w this manager. I'd like to see this store moved out of this location. They encourage people fixing cars in the parking lot - taking up spaces - give a very trashy vibe. I wouldn't trust any product from this place. She told me that her car dragged a little when she started her car, so I was like I saw advance auto have a deal where they can check your battery . Worst experience ever. We called in to see if our tail lights came in and the man on the other end must've been lazy to even look and said it arrived. We arrived to pick up the headlights and the guy, Mateo, who picked up the phone told the manager we were cussing and yelling at him over the phone. We were right across from them while be lied about it. Why would we cuss at him just for checking up on an order? Don't lie to cover up your ass, Mateo. My dad is the sweetest guy. I've always had a good experiences with Advance, until today. I bought a new battery for Mom's Toyota on Monday, James, the gentleman, helping me was very helpful making the purchase completely painless. He explained the process for returning the old battery, no problems. When I brought the old battery back today the only person working in the store scanned my receipt and explained that a manager would need to approve the exchange by entering a code, I'm good, it's not an issue. After some time and several checks back with me, each time he explained the manager would be back soon, still good everyone gets busy. Eventually an angry, clearly disheveled manager? named Rosen came in and stated "return?", yes please, "bring it here" I started to explain that the first gentlemen had started the process at the station where I was waiting. he repeated "BRING IT HERE", I picked up the battery only to hear "LEAVE THE BATTERY". so its the receipt he needs. After several failed attempts at another computer, I again start to explain how the process had been started at another station and he is beginning to realize I have a point, "OK" as he tosses the receipt on the counter, I grab the receipt and we both head back to the first station. Suddenly this manager breaks into a scary cultural dialect and states "WHAT IS WITH DA ATTITUDE?" I was shocked, he clearly walked into the situation angry but now has become completely unglued. If it was just a bad day that would be one thing but he is now undeniably unstable and accusing me of the disposition he is clearly displaying. "IF YOU GONNA GIVE ME ATTITUDE YOU CAN RETURN IT SOMEWHERE ELSE". His temperament had very quickly escalated from anger to rage. A clear expression of aggression by transference commonly related to persons with severe personality disorders. I was speechless, my feet locked in place I could not speak or move. I just stood motionless and eventually, tho curtly, he prompted me to enter my credit card and provided me with my updated receipt. I am 58 and suddenly I find myself in a frightening interpersonal conflict, a rage laden hateful chastising for no apparent reason other than I attempted to be helpful. Admittedly I have very little experience with abusive interactions but I now have a new understanding, though slight, for victims of verbal abuse. It is very sad that anyone is comfortable treating others this way. Rosen is a poor representative for the Advance company and I will not be returning to the Backlick Advance Auto Parts. read more
