He was fast, effective, and considerate of the warranty on it to make sure I got any money back if I was owed any from the old battery from Midas. You know sometimes we get exceptional service so many times that we take it for granted. Becomes the norm, you might say. A business model you could infer. But on the evening of March 22, 2025 I was the recipient of exceptional, very exceptional service. Lazy Saturday it was until my teenager made the distress call- car not starting. Drove to her location and jump started her car then drove straight to Advanced Auto - short pump. Exceptional patient understanding service is what I received as I explained the situation. Team member was responsive enough to provide me with a much better battery than the.one.in.the vehicle. And the AA team was just beginning. I was in for a real treat when Mr Carroll wheeled out his tool cart and got to the new battery installation. I have been on several ends of auto personnel treatment- mostly different when i am with a 2024 year vehicle than with an older vehicle. As a matter of fact, in another automobile workshop I was told, boldfaced and all, that nothing could be done for my older vehicle. A statement I would file away as I, carefully, stayed clear of that shop - with the newer vehicles and same older vehicle they'd written off. 7years after that remark, the vehicle is still running okay. So Mr Carroll installed this battery meticulously. Not just dumping it in but carefully tightening the terminals, ensuring snug fitting, applying anti-corrosives and yes wait for it...ensuring that there was no red battery light on the dashboard after installation. Darrell G. was RUDE, Condescending, Unprofessional, and should be fired Immediately ! My pregnant daughter went up there to have an alternator,starter and battery tested . while there someone told her she needs a starter. charged her 300 dollars for the starter . keep in mind my daughter knows nothing about cars. after returning home husband said he didnt need a starter to return part. She went up there to return part only to be GRILLED and interrogated by Darrell G. " Is your husband a mechanic? Bring him up here. My daughter felt intimidated, and scared, as she just wanted to return a part, she purchased hours ago. She paid by debit, and should have received her money immediately, but Darrell proceeded to process refund in a different manor so as to make her wait for days for her money. Is this how advance auto parts conducts business? Are these the so-called professional people they hire? read more

Advance Auto is where Blockbuster's use to be for Centuries it seemed. It was strange walking into the place as I wanted to grab a movie and leave, however there were none. I remember the walls being packed with all kinds of favorites and the people greeting you as you come into the place to Rent/Buy. Now I see auto parts and Accessories for your car... Just seems a little strange. However, once I was over the shock of this place under new Ownership and Management... I quickly found what I was looking for which was Windshield Washer fluid. The place is very clean and the people working in there are extremely helpful in getting you to the right place if you cannot find it. It is nice to know, I have a place just up the street as before, I had to travel way down on W. Broad St. to just buy something for the Jeep. I will miss Blockbusters, however they had their time and place. I am sure once more people realize Advance has moved in and now you can find Car Items with NO movie rentals... the place will be extremely busy. I look forward in going back.... :-) read more

I had a problem at another store with exchanging a car battery, I was told to come to this one. Shawn (a manager I think) was super helpful and he really went out of his way to make sure the problem was fixed and that I was comfortable with the process. Excellent experience. Just needed a new headlight, and I was helped right away. The guys working there were explanatory and helpful, and also patient when my husband and I got into a big conversation about fishing with some other patrons who were in line. I told my husband he needs to hang out there more. The place looked nice inside, the people were helpful, we got what we needed, and we were on our way. read more

Service was responsive. The store was clean and well stocked. My one complaint is that they did not have a huge selection. I was disappointed with electric and engine options. They had one of the two things I needed. The staff also seems knowledgeable. read more

I just wanted to share the HORRENDOUS experience that I've had with Advance Auto Parts Store 08968 (The Short Pump VA store). I had my battery changed on Wednesday, January 24th. I went to get my state inspection today (January 29th) and was told that my car failed inspection because my battery hold-down was missing. My car has passed inspection every single other year and this is the first time in 3 years that I've had my battery replaced. I called Advance Auto Parts to see if they could help me make the situation right and I was told "they don't make mistakes like that" and "unless I could prove the part wasn't missing before, I was out of luck". This is HORRIBLE customer service and I would think that the fact that I can prove my car has passed inspection EVERY SINGLE OTHER YEAR and that I had the battery replaced on Wednesday would be proof enough. I'm calling back to to talk to a manager in the morning, but I'd highly recommend you never take your car here. Not only do they make mistakes, but then they refuse to make things right.
