I hired Advanced 2000 to recommend an outdoor security camera to help protect my household from a life-threatening situation. The owner recommended a camera which I ordered online. He told me to contact him when the camera arrived which I did and he was set to install it the next morning. To accommodate Advanced 2000's timing, I canceled my work appointments for that morning. At 12noon the next day when he hadn't shown up, I emailed him and he said he had a larger installation, couldn't install my camera, and I needed to wait until Monday. Knowing how critical it was for my household to have a security camera, I called someone else who came the next day (a Sat.). I am back with an updated review, since the last time I left one was a few years back. As you can see, my rating hasn't changed... 5 stars all the way!! Advanced 2000 has become a staple for our family and as the years have gone by a solution to more than just our personal computers and laptops. They have done networking jobs at our house, set us up with clouding, etc. In this day and age genuinely good help is hard to find in the tech industry, but luckily you won't have to look any further! Advanced 2000 has grown a lot over the years and expanded into clouding and service management, etc. which, if you are a business owner, you'll appreciate. Computer died and I desperately needed a repair. I lucked out by finding this place. I called ahead, asked about their repair policy, and brought in my computer. Pricing was very fair. They worked on my computer immediately, and were great about giving me updates. They were also honest and upfront about which repairs would make sense versus ones that would be so expensive that they would recommend just getting a new lap top instead. A smallish warehouse retail store, this reseller has some fairly basic equipment should you need a quick fix for a computer problem. Power supplies, CPUs, cables, motherboards, HDD, DVDs, etc all available in their parts department - as well as all up turnkey systems. Their prices aren't bad, but you'll pay more than you will online - because frankly, they are running a storefront. I needed a power supply for my work/school/gaming computer. Since I use it so much, waiting for a new one in the mail was not an option, so I yelped computer places in my area. I looked at a few but none really had hardware, or helpful staff. Then just when i started to lose hope, I found this place. They had a few power supplies sitting on the self, with an option for ordering. The prices were shockingly comparable to the internet wholesalers, and they staff was very interesting to talk to. I build my own computers and they were asking all about mine, which is kind of like being a car guy and someone checking out your car and asking all sorts of questions. My father swears by Advanced 2000 and I just swear at them. Based on our contrasting views of the company I would: 1. Recommend you go into the store to purchase. 2. Buy from the website and pray. I've now placed 2 orders as well as sent a general email their way. Emails went something like this: Me: We need RAM of this type - is this the correct item and if so how much would the order be? Them: The sticks are $$ and $$. Me: So the total for the order would be $$. What is shipping and handling? ------------no response----------- So I went elsewhere. Next up was a hard drive order. I get a call asking if I wanted an inferior product which I replied no. I think Western Digital is the best, but I could be wrong here. This time I placed an order for a hard drive and made a mistake, I wanted 2 day shipping. So I emailed them quickly to see if I could change shipping to 2 day. So...obviously I want to upgrade to 2 day shipping. Their email was: ----------- ----------- ----------- ----------- Hi, Dear customer we got you e-mail ....& we will make that 2 day air .....& there will be more . it will be. total 24.99 ....let us know if you want to do that.... ----------- ----------- ----------- ----------- My response was immediate - Yes, thank you much! 5 days later (3 business, 2 weekend) I get a call asking if I wanted the shipping upgrade. The owner and employees are really nice and knowledgeable with computer technology, so if you need help with anything such as upgrades, they will know exactly what you need. They always have great deals and the price is competitively matched or better than online prices. Advanced 2000 is a good last resort for computer parts you need immediately. If you can wait to order something online from the likes of a NewEgg.com, you should wait. The prices and selection will be much better. That being said, they do carry a number of specific upgrade items you'll be hard pressed to find locally. You can find a good variety of motherboards, video cards, performance RAM, CPUs, monitors, and hard drives here. Their selection exceeds that of any major box store including Micro Center, CompUSA, and Best Buy. It's a mixed bag when it comes to customer service. In 2016, one of our old servers quit working right at Christmas time and they were able to rebuild it and restore our data and get us up and running which really saved us! So, I've kept Advanced 2000 in my pocket for like 5 years :( Not good news for Advanced business, but great for mine :) Advanced2000 has always supported me and had great prices; I always get great customer service - especially from MJ. I can't say enough about how much stuff I've bought here. I've bought, probably over 6 laptops (not including referrals), a dozen hard drives, 5 or so CD/DVD/Blu Rays, as well as every component (or any type of cable for that matter there is. They stand behind what you buy, and I've taken a few things back like a broken SATA cable and was never fought over it; they immediately just changed it out. I've never had a problem with any laptops; nor have my friends, colleagues. They are honest and up-front with you. I've never had an issue. For those going over there: I would recommend ask questions, they do have stuff on the floor but always ask about upgrading it, getting more RAM for a laptop, etc... they DO this stuff all the time! The one down-side I would say (or maybe two, but one is more a downside and one is a enhancement I'd like them to make) - (are) 1) They do have a lot of turnover of products; so if you're looking for a laptop or desktop, go in often and shop around. From week-to-week you'll find different deals, offers and things. They never kind of know what they'll get or what deals they may get from time-to-time. 2) (this is the enhancement one) - I wish they would get products in that are "more up to date". I think for most of their laptops, workstations, even servers - they have stuff that is not out of date by a few months (which is how they deal, fine) but if a "new cable" or "new hard drive" or "new xxxxx" comes on the market; they don't get it for quite some time. I don't work there, and I have been shopping there for 6+ years so - this is not a "owner posting" ...I'm a real person who works on peoples stuff and have used Advanced to buy parts and use a slight mark-up to the person for work. Like other small retailers, Advanced 2000 is not competitive on computer hardware and software, at least as compared to Amazon or Micro Center in Fairfax. What's more, their website is not well organized or user friendly. But as far as service is concerned they are very competitive and skilled in all of the networking and hardware troubleshooting jobs I have used them for and their pricing is reasonable. read more
