Most disappointing restaurant I have tried in Anaheim Packing district thus far.... Food: I'll start off with the high and end with the low... Garlic Naan: Crispy and garlicky. Yum. This was the only item that I actually liked! Malai tikka: This dish was basically a yogurt/cream cheese chicken dish. The plate included the chicken, some rice and a side salad. I can't say I was a huge fan of the curry here, I suppose perhaps because I've been ruined by other Indian restaurants. I think I'm general the recipes here have been heavily modified towards a more "western" taste, and to give the place credit, I could see some people being into that--just not me. I thought that the chicken tikka that I had was a bit bland as were the other items I tried. I will say, however, that the butter naan was very good, but I also know it should be quite difficult to make bad butter naan. I wouldn't recommend the place if you are looking for an authentic taste of India. Overall it lacked a certain spice that is present in most Indian foods. Adya is located at the Packing House in Anaheim. The old orange packing house has been transformed into a hip and trendy treasure filled with little coffee cafe's, cafe's from Indian to Italian, grilled cheese and sushi. Inside you will find Adya, where the staff is friendly and you can watch them creating, making and serving fresh authentic Indian food that is scrumptious. We were at an event and Adya did the catering, the food was absolutely scrumptious. I have been wanting to go to the eatery since the event and finally found myself in Anaheim, craving Indian. Mr. B. and I made a beeline for Adya, scouring the menu, so many fantastic choices. It was a warm summer day and I was looking for something light and fresh; that is exactly what I got with the Bhel Puri, meant to be a snack, it was a meal for me. It is a salad type dish without lettuce. Puffed Rice mixed with chopped cucumber, mango and peanuts with a chutney style dressing. The quality of the ingredients is excellent and this dish while it looked simple, had so many textures and flavors packed into it and I loved it! Mr. B ordered the chicken roll, which is their version of a wrap. Filled with tender chicken, a curry style sauce with tomatoes and cilantro, it was served with a side salad and a fresh and flavorful mint chutney for dipping. On the side we ordered Goat Cheese Naan, it was incredibly good! Fresh made Naan bread rolled and filled with goat cheese and then fried to perfection. The cheese was melted and the bread had a nice crunch to the outside and tender on the inside. They are opening another restaurant in Irvine and I'm excited. If you find yourselves in Anaheim, check out the Packing House and don't forget to eat at Adya. The creators of the Packing House didn't plan to well for parking. There is a small lot, two parking garages away from the site, but difficult to find. You will also see some street parking in the residential area which fills quickly. They are offering valet parking for a mere $3.00 plus tip. It is worth it, so if it is crowded, don't search for parking, suck it up and valet. read more

I got the Chicken Tikka Masala ($13) with a +$4 upgrade for naan, basmati rice, yogurt dip, lentils & salad. Quite pricey but it's a good amount of food! I was super full after. The chicken is shredded so it's not like the tandoori chicken which is like kabobs. The tikka masala is a sauce and made with cream, butter & spices. It's a bit more on the creamy side but not too runny. It was mildly spicy but not too intense! The basmati rice was a perfect combination to eat with the tikka masala sauce itself :') The salad was light and they provided their house dressing with it. The yogurt spread & lentils were both delicious dips for the naan bread. The combination comes with an entire oval naan bread cut into 4 pieces. SO DELICIOUS! I highly recommend the upgrade! One of the workers actually came around to ask how our food was. I'm surprised because this is like "food court" style so it's not something I expected. This was the best Indian food I've ever had. If you're a vegetarian the Pav Bhaji is incredible. It's like an Indian style sloppy joe. The brioche roll was grilled perfectly and the sandwich is served with this mint cilantro chutney that went perfectly with it to cool the richness down a little. I loved that the dish was a take on an American style meal but vegetarian and with ingredients used in Indian dishes! My friends and I also got the garlic naan and the goat cheese naan. My friend and I were in disbelief because of how the food basically tasted of nothing. I also ended up having some stomach issues later on that night. Decided to try this place out at the Packing District since I've already had The Kroft and The black Sheep. It was ok.. Kinda boring food. I've had better Indian food. I got the chicken tikka masala. I feel like that's a good test to see whether the food was good or not. Nothing spectacular. I agree with other reviewers. $13 for this small dish is definitely overpriced. This review is for the cooking class. Went to the "Girl Grills" cooking class and had a great time. Chef Shachi Mehra puts on a wonderful class as she goes through a menu explaining each step, each ingredient and even where to get the spices and specially food items. It is a demo class and not hands on. She prepares and cooks a small portion of each item on the menu and towards the end of the class her staff brings out the larger portions of each item for the class to eat. I really enjoyed the class and the food brought out to us was delish! Chef Shachi spoke with my son and I after class and told us that her training was partly in NYC and gave us some places to try when he goes to work as an intern this summer and I go visit. For sure I will be driving up from Dana Point to the Anaheim location to try a few dishes at this terrific place. BTW, Adya was listed in Brad Johnson's OC Register list of the best 20 "cheap" places to eat in OC. read more

I came for dinner with my wife. We've had lunch here many times so we're no strangers to this place. The food is always great. My wife ordered the chicken Tikka masala and I ordered the saag paneer, both tasted great. The only reason this review gets 4 stars is because the chef (who I think is the owner) kept creep staring me down while I was trying to eat, it was kind of unsettling. One of the employees also came over and I had to reassure him that we were indeed enjoying the food. I didn't finish everything (it was hard to eat while being examined by the chef) so I took the rest to go. I just finished the saag as late night second dinner. This was a good Indian food restaurant for whats in the Anaheim Packing District. Its not the best but it is filling and has a good flavor. The highlight was the leema lamb roll. Very flavorful. The chicken tikka masala was ok and provided a good portion for the price. All the reviews RAVED about this place, so I was curious to try it as I am of East Indian descent. We ordered the Lamb Kabobs and Chicken Tandoori both with Lemon Rice and salad with Cilantro Lime Dressing. We also ordered a side of Garlic Nan. The Lamb Kabobs were quite good. Unfortunately, that's where the fun stopped. The Chicken Tandoori had a jerky-like texture that nearly made me choke without something to drink. A couple of those sewn together would have made for a lovely leather coat. The Lemon Rice wasn't..... a tumeric-stained basmati with little or no flavor. The Garlic Nan was a tasteless rock-solid glutinous mass that, if flung properly, could prove fatal if thrown from less than thirty feet. The salad, accompanied by the Cilantro Lime dressing, was simply adequate - a necessary wetting of the greens with the most minor dash of flavor. I asked for some Mango Chutney, which normally goes well with Tandoori - they offered a Tamarind Chutney, which was actually lovely - I sucked that down as I was still hungry from the food I ended up tossing - which I rarely do. I felt bad for my friend and colleague who treated. No real ambiance as it's a food court, so they can't be blamed for that. So if you are in Anaheim at the Packing House and get a hankering for some Indian food, get back in your car and drive down the road to Little India in Artesia. There are some great places there. I had their special--Tandoori shrimp ($12) and it was extremely expensive for getting 6 peewee-size shrimps and some rice. I added "Thalia" to the shrimp which was an additional $4 to get some naan, yogurt, lentil, and a few bites of salad. It also came with about a teaspoon of something that looked like pico de gallo but tasted like those Asian pickled salty plums. The shrimp, lentil, and naan were superb. It took about 15-20 mins to get the food which IMO was a long time for something of this nature. It wasn't even that crowded. I was expecting a 10 mins wait. I'm picky about water so I like that they infused their water with slices of line and mint leaves. read more

Honestly I don't know what happened to this place. Every time I would come to the packing district my number one stop was here. However things have changed portions of chicken are now smaller I got 2 orders of chicken tiki mísala for my boyfriend and I and each of our plates had about 4 small pieces of chicken. I basically payed for a plate of rice with some chicken. The plate is called chicken tiki misala so I expect chicken. I don't know what happened but the portions are not what they used to be will be going else where definitely not worth the 38$ we spent. Will not be returning. read more

Great customer service! The cashier was very helpful when explaining the menu. Staff was very friendly. Food was mediocre. I got chicken Tikka masala, my fave Indian dish, and I got the combo. The Naan was dry and thin, the salad that it comes with tasted like it did not have any dressing. The chicken itself was good, the combo comes with extra sauce (but since the Naan was not great I didn't end up using it). There was also a side of yogurt and bean dip? I've never had my Indian food comes with those sides so I didn't know what to do with that. Lastly, what killed me was the mango Lassi had bits of mint blended into it :( wish they wouldn't try to be fancy and just have regular mango lassi. My total was about $21 for everything. read more

The total came up to $21 after tax so it was quite expensive for indian food considering that most indian buffets are less than $10. There is patio seating outside with table reserved for Adya customers. I really like the tiki marsala, probably one of the best ones in orange county. The flavors and spiced were well balanced. Got the naan stuffed with sliced lamb. It was delish! The was less lamb than I expected, but it was still fairly flavorful. The lamb wasn't over powering which is rare because lamb is typically overpowering at most places. Loved the curry flavor of the lamb! A very nice man by the name of Rudy took our order and helped us navigate the menu with some of his favorites. We sat outside on the patio and when the food came out we were speechless. The Biryana with vegetables was is if they simply opened a bag of frozen carrots mostly and sprinkled them into the hot rice, no continuity or flavor melody at all. First, and foremost, the clerk taking orders was too busy flirting with a customer to even notice I was there. She did not acknowledge me nor did she cut off her conversation with her suiter/customer. She finally was able to take care of me and get my order but it was with a less than warm welcome. This is generally where I eat when I come to the Packing District. The service is good, and they always have a vegan option for me. It is generally a curry but it is switched up occasionally. Most recently I had a roasted cauliflower, carrot and green bean dish in a green curry with white rice. It was really good, I could have eaten the cauliflower on it's own, it had a perfect roast, it was browned and not over cooked to be smooshie. There is always a craft beer on tap to accompany your meal and to cool you down from the red hat sauce. it's kinda a chile paste that is extremely flavorful and pairs well with their dishes. read more
