Its my ego which "made me" give this place a try. I have been going to Packing district very often lately, and I can say most venues I have tried have been fairly satisfying or Epic. (Kroft, Chippy, Blind Rabbit, Popbar ... just to name a few) I finally gave ADYA a try by ordering their "Chicken Curry of the Day" First impression was, This is it ? They charged me $12+ for bowl of rice and small bowl of Curry with few pieces of chicken. So I thought, this better at least taste good! well, it was NOTHING special. I am a firm believer you should pay for what you get, but ADYA has failed to meet taste, quality, or any types of specialty. Complete waste of my lunch money! First time I attempted to eat here, I waited 25 minutes in line with 3 people ahead of me. I don't know what the long wait time was a result of. The line just didn't move. I was with other people so I felt bad making them wait until I received my food so I left. Second time I was successful in trying the food but I did have to wait 15 minutes to order. I think there's a problem with the transmission of the order to the staff. It took them several clicks and opening pages on their fancy iPad to place our order. Its hipster to order through iPad but I'd rather they just write my order down on paper and play with their iPad later. We had a full variety of their food. I thought it was too small (2 pieces of chicken for the Chicken Tikka) and a lot of fluff for the side dishes. I ordered the "meal" because it came with salad and other stuff but it all was not good. DON'T make it "Thali". Seriously overrated and not worth extra $2 per plate. We also got some appetizer "Pani Puri" which was good but extremely small. For 3 main dishes and an appetizer I spent about $48 I really wanted to like this place but in my opinion, I will not go to Adya ever again. ALL DAY YOU'RE AMAZING I don't know what ADYA stands for, but whatever it is, it translates into pretty darn good Indian food. It was my first time at the Packing District and when I heard they had Indian food, I came a-running. Usually, when I think of food on a metal tray, I think of airplanes, prisons, post-apocalyptic dystopias in which food is served from a tube. But something about those oranges, whites, and greens, it make it look appetizing and modern. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala plate which came with a bevy of sides. At first, it didn't look too satisfying. Three sauce cups, a side salad, a smattering of rice, and four wedges of naan usually don't fill me up. But there is more than meets the eye. The flavors are so rich and deep that it kept me in a ravenous state. I shamefully mowed through the meal, using my bread like a sponge to soak up every last drop. Good Chicken Tikka Masala is hard to find but this place has nailed it. I only wish there was more. $12 may be a steep price for some, so I can't go around recommending it to everybody. But for those don't mind paying for quality, this is definitely the place to go. Considering the other options at the packing district, I'd say this place has more bang for your buck. One of the best features is the outdoor patio. Great place to grab weekend brunch. It can get pretty hot, so bring some sunscreen and try to find a shady spot. 4/5 would definitely go again! read more

One time experience. The food was good, but there is heavy competition in the surrounding areas around Adya and they have a lot to revamp if they want to retain customers. Location: Nestled inside APD, they have nothing to worry about. The location is cute, entertaining and a great location to grub. Service: The staff was accommodating and food was served promptly. Price: This is what proves to be Adya's downfall. The price for the amount provided is too steep and cannot compete. I paid $16 for a saag paneer thali combo. $10-11 for saag paneer a rice. +$1 for garlic naan upgrade. +$4 for thali combo which includes a salad, naan, rice, and lentils. My friend got a lamb sloppy joe which came with salad for $7. Portion: Too little for what you get. They pour a little bit of curry onto the rice and then provide 4oz of an extra portion, 4oz of lentils, some cucumber yogurt sauce, and a fistful of salad. I paid almost $20 for a meal that usually costs me less than $10 at other Indian quick service establishments. Avoid the curry combos. Stick with sandwiches or wraps - those appear to be the better deal. read more

I had high expectations for ADYA since there's already an awesome Indian place cross the street and another right up the block. I was not disappointed. The lamb seekh kabob was spicy and tasty. Bit it was the malai tikka that took me by surprise. It was flavorful and juicy, and I definitely underestimated how much would like it. The garlic naan is exactly how I like it: buttery, garlicky, chewy, with just a little bit of char to let you know it's been in a proper tandoor. The steel plates are a nice touch to make you feel like you're getting something a little special compared to the usual paper plates or styrofoam clamshells. I'm looking forward to trying the shrimp and the goat cheese naan. read more

I ate here during my first visit to the Anaheim Packing House, and out of the loads of restaurants there, this one caught my attention! I really enjoy Indian food, so I was super excited to eat here. The line moves pretty slow here. Also, it is quite difficult to see the menu from the back on the line. Even though it was difficult to see the full menu from the back of the line, we were pleasantly surprised to be approached by a staff member who talked to us about the menu. We described to her what kinds of food we liked and she helped us make a decision. Once we ordered, our food came out in less than ten minutes. Our food was so tasty, and you could tell that a lot of time was put into its preparation (a staff member told us that cooking the lentil soup is a two day process!). We got the Chicken Tikka Masala, and we made it a Thali, which added all the extras. It was the perfect amount for the two of us to split. Even though we had to wait in a long line, this food was definitely worth the wait. Great service, great food - if you like Indian food, you definitely need to check this place out! read more

I ordered the Chicken Curry ($12) with the Thali option (+$4) which gives me Naan bread and a few other sides. My boyfriend ordered Chicken Tandoori ($13) with the Thali option also. Issues: -It was not busy and everyone in front of us had already received their food by the time we paid and sat down. -Two larger groups behind us received their food 10-15 minutes before we did. We received our food about 20 minutes after we ordered. -We sat right at the bar in front of the kitchen, in which the staff, the GM and someone who I am guessing is the Chef/Owner could have seen that we were anxious for our food after waiting 15 minutes. Someone should have gone up us to assure us that our food was coming or offered a reason why there was a delay. I had to ask the cashier to check on the status of our food. I counted 8 people on staff between front and back of the kitchen and did not understand why our food was taking so long. -The GM was chatting with the owner in the back most of the time we were there. Maybe since it was near closing time she had to talk to the owner , but they still had customers to be attentive to. -$36 for 2 people without drinks is a tad expensive for what we got Pros: -I give 5 stars to girl in the pink shirt with blonde/brownish long hair who was putting all the food together. She was constantly busy and doing different things to get all the food out to the right ticket. I felt like someone else could have helped her prep and set food with 6 people working the front. -They make the Naan fresh and it was fun to watch the process through the glass windows. The Naan was good. Food: -The chicken curry was served in the same bowl portion size as my sides . About ¾ of a measuring cup cup size. The basmati rice was bland and not fragrant, but it could be that we were there at the end of the day. The Chicken curry was okay. The sides were good and saved me from going hungry. My boyfriend felt bad for me and gave me a piece of his Tandoori Chicken. I've NEVER had anything like it and I have been to India about 10 times and I've eaten Indian food across the US. We liked the -Vindaloo Chicken Pav ($7) - Very filling for a good price! -Chicken Tikka Kathi Roll ($7) - Our favorite, extremely delicious The Chicken Tikka Masala Curry ($12) was too small for the price and lacked the spice we like. We forgot to ask them to make it spicier however, so that is our fault. We ordered Goat Cheese Naan to eat with the curry (along with the rice that it comes with). I recommend trying the goat cheese naan by itself but it cannot be paired with any dish. Goat Cheese has a very distinct taste and tastes weird dipping it in curry. I am absolutely in shock that this place ONLY has three stars. The people that are hating on this place need to get their egos checked. Like Wheat and Sons, this is another diamond in the rough within the packing house. I've been indulging myself on their pav sandwiches. I've only had the vindaloo because I'm stuck on how awesome they are. I will try others eventually. However, since the vindaloo is the spiciest rendition of their pav, it might be difficult for me to move on. I met wife at PH the other day. I told her that Adya had great flavors, so she agreed to eat here. She had the entree, the tikka masala chicken. Full disclosure; her food did take slightly longer because putting an entree takes more time than preparing a sandwich but to her, it was worth the wait. I took a bite and I'll agree with her. It was delicious, the flavors were "clean and clear", the way they balance their flavors and spices were on point. Chef Satchi(sp?), you are a culinary genius and I look forward to eventually trying everything on your menu. read more

He tells me after 4 years in Orange County ADYA is one of the most authentic tasting indian spots in the area. This place is kind of hidden away in the corner of the anaheim packing house. The set up of the restaurant is slightly weird because the kitchen is closer to the center of the packing house than the seating and cash register is. Because of this, I feel like they get less business than they deserve. I ordered a pani puri as appetizer and it was amazing. They gave us a lot of sauce to go with it, and I thought that was very generous of them. I also ordered one of the curries of the day (Chana Masala - chickpea curry) along with goat cheese naan. It was great! I definitely recommend people to try it out. The other restaurants in the packing house get more publicity and customers, but don't let that stop you from trying this place. read more

I wanted to like this place but I didn't enjoy my lamb slider/sloppy joe nor my garlic naan. The lamb slider was sweeter than I'd like and the toppings didn't go well for me. The garlic naan flavoring wasn't that strong and the bread itself was too crispy. I like it better when there are doughy to crispy pieces with lots of garlic. Each slider was $6 and the naan was $4. It was our first time at the Packing House and we so wanted to leave it with wonderful food experience but unfortunately will have to come back for that. An overly spiced eggplant dish, an overly dried lamb kebab, and a saggy Watermelon Chaat - that's my recollection of ADYA restaurant. As many eateries at Packing House, this restaurant also has an open kitchen concept. However, I believe they may have forgotten about that customers can see them... I witnessed how during the preparation of my Watermelon chaat, the chef was going through a saggy batch of mint and SMELLING leaves as he was picking which ones to place in my plate!! That was a little too much for me... The naan was good, but too thin and not as flavorful. I am glad the dishes came with rice, at least we had some food on the table. In regards to service, the person taking our order at the registry was super nice and the food was brought to us to the table which was nice. I feel so disappointed having to write this review but my first visit to the Packing House was marred by this place. First strike...It's rather pricy for tandoori for such a small portion and not very flavourful or authentic. Second strike, we ordered butter naan but the person who cooked our food forgot to make it. When asked how much longer we would have to wait, we were told five minutes. Not wanting cold shrimp and hot naan, we asked for a refund. Instead of a refund, a dour looking woman with a nose stud asked if we had a problem and stated that it would take two minutes to make the naan. At that point we were annoyed and left without the naan. $4 naan is not worth the headache or a refund. Third strike...the shrimp were tasty but the meal was spoiled by dirty shrimp. Two were not devained and had pieces of the shell on. I don't think we will return. read more

It was $13, which was already a bit pricey for me, and the lady at the counter asked if we wanted to upgrade and get a salad, rice, sauce, and naan for $4. Seemed like a good deal, so we got it. Total plus tax came out to be roughly $18. And when it came out on a metal lunch tray, I was kind of... disappointed. I could go literally anywhere else and get more bang for my buck. I've had lots of Indian food in my life (probably 100 dishes or so), and I'm sad to say that this was the worst. I ordered Chicken Tika Masala because it looked terrific when I saw a server carrying one. However, it was cooked with white meat that was very tough and chewy and bland--it was the very opposite of the normal tender and flavorful meat. Additionally, the rice was undercooked and the effect was that the whole dish tasted like mush. To top it off, the cashier was a little rude to me. I'd like to give this a higher rating, because I love the Packing House, but there were just so many things wrong with that meal. read more

Maybe I ordered the wrong thing because I was expecting more. I ordered the lamb wrap (and I love lamb) and I felt that the sauce really overpowered the wrap. By the time I got through half of it, my tastebuds needed a break. I'm glad that I ordered garlic naan on the side because it neutralized the flavors. I've also had better garlic naan before, but maybe it's just my own preference. This naan is more crisp than other kinds I've tried. With the meal you order, you also get a salad and a green - I think - yogurt sauce, which I really enjoyed! Overall neutral experience. We really enjoyed the food at Adya. We had a shrimp curry and some sliders. All delicious. We are vegan-ish and they were very happy to accomodate us. The staff at Adya are very friendly and special orders are no problem. Each dish came with salad and some chutney and naan bread. All nicely seasoned and delicious. Disclaimer: I don't eat indian food often. As much as I love spicy foods, my stomach cannot handle it so I avoid spices as much as I can. We walked around and the smell of this corner was not to be dismissed. My cousins and I walked back and ordered the chicken tikka with butter naan and garlic naan. It was quite pricy but boy did it satisfy my savory needs. It had the perfect amount of spice that didn't irritate my stomach and my 5 year old cousin was able to enjoy it. I'm not sure why people gave this place bad reviews. The food is full of robust flavor yet balanced. The chai was great because they make it from scratch and add the desired sweetness one ask for. The only knock I guess would be that it took a bit for the food to come out. It's made fresh and they also warned us that it would be a bit due to one our dishes. We were fine with that. Upper level in the back this is great Indian food. Had the squash curry which was off the menu and a special. Just a bowl of the curry with jasmine rice was so filling and delicious. Great that you can order then sit anywhere and eat. We sat at the Hammer bar next door and ate our Indian food and ordered a drink. Great environment to try many different types of food and drink. Traditional Indian food choices with a twist. Naan bread with goat cheese just one example. The chickpea appetizer comes cold and is layered with flavor. Chicken tikka was juicy and moist and had great tikka flavor. Great to be able to see the kitchen as with all the restaurants here you can watch your food being made. I tried their special lamb curry. I wanted to try it since the cashier told us it is not on the menu and it won't always be there. I added lamb naan to it as well. My plate came with lamb curry, rice, yogurt sauce, extra curry sauce on the side, and salad. The lamb naan looked like a pizza, it was stuffed!
