I've been a client for many years - they are within walking distance - but I've finally decided it's going to be worth it to drive somewhere. Where Aer Nailbar is really falling down, since covid, is in the mani-pedi department (its bread and butter--and the main thing I do there). They at some point decided to stop doing a full foot massage and now they do this thing where they massage your legs (very briefly!) and then apply your toenail polish. They then do a quick--we're talking like 1-2 minutes--massage of the rest of your foot (meaning: no toes or upper part of the foot gets massaged, as the toes have fresh polish on them). At first, I thought it was a reaction to covid and/or just the personal pecadillos of one technician. But I've been there about 7-9 times since this b.s. started and every single technician now does a pedicure this way. Why even bother? Part of the joy of a pedicure is the full foot and leg massage. Your toes need love, too! They did the same on the manicure front: neck massage with head down was eliminated; arm massage gone; quick 1-2 minute hand massage is all you get (they now put you in fingerless moisturizing gloves--that's a "meh" for me). It's clear the turnover is high there--you never get the same person twice and if you book online, the names are always different--and there is probably a very good reason for that. From the customer side, it is just way less enjoyable; the massage component is barely there anymore; and services are over very quickly to boot (they'll book you for 45 minutes for your pedicure; it'll be over in 30, just for one example). Waxing services were never great, even before covid; I stopped using Aer Nailbar for waxing after a few too many experiences with young, inexperienced waxers who bruise your bikini area and/or leave too many hairs--all while rushing. I'm not a very hairy person, as I've had years of laser and electrolysis. Go elsewhere for waxing, for sure. Given all of the nonsense and paring down of the mani-pedi experience, I can't really recommend Aer Nailbar. A basic mani-pedi is $71 now (November 2022) and you can do better somewhere--anywhere--else for that price. read more

Since moving to Fenway/Brookline area I've tried a handful of nail salons and after 6 months this is officially my spot. Manicures and pedicures are consistently above and beyond in the nail care category. I've had both with many people and everyone does a great job! I typically come for a gel manicure but have also had regular manicures, regular pedicures and gel pedicures. The time and attention on nail and cuticle care is unparalleled and the polish application is always smooth and even. I also notice even regular manicures last exceptionally long, no doubt because they don't over apply the polish and they make sure to finish the end of the nail to prevent chipping. The manicure does take a little longer than some other places (maybe about 10 extra minutes) but if you're already treating yourself to some self care why not enjoy it?! The facility is clean, best and bright with tons of polish options available. They also apply a little moisturizing glove during the appointment which feels great and is very effective. They recently did a little Reno to accommodate extra seating as well! Lastly, they care about their customers - I came in around the holidays and they were giving out little cuticle oil and socks as a gift! read more

I think this is my new favorite nail salon. the place is immaculately clean, all white. They're quite pricey for a gel manicure ($43 for gel and removal) but they offer a complimentary shoulder and neck massage to go with it so I guess it's justified but I didn't like the oil/lotion they used because my neck and shoulder were just oily all day while I was out and about (apologies for the rant). I was happy with how my nail tech took care of me from beginning to end. I'm very particular with the length and nail shape and when I asked to change it a little here and there, she didn't make me feel like I was asking her to find a cure for cancer. -- Thank you Lilly! They have completely new staff, the quality has gone to absolute crap, the new guy who is at the register now has terrible customer service skills, and the prices have gone up significantly. Back in 2016 I started going to AER Nailbar to treat myself for pedicure and gel manicure. They did an amazing job but unfortunately I moved farther away and started going to a different salon... This year(for my birthday) I decided to take the longer trip and treat myself at AER for a pedicure and manicure. Booking online was easy but I noticed the prices went up significantly. $89 for a gel manicure and pedicure is outrageous. Day of I went in, received a simple pedicure and gel manicure. Pedicure was basic and massage was minimal. Gel looked ok...nails and cuticles weren't as clean looking as Id like. A couple days later one of my nails/fingers were completely inflamed and infected to the point that I had to remove majority of the nail on that finger. I saw them take the utensils out of the sanitary package however I've NEVER EVER received any kind of infection when getting my nails done. Besides the infection, my other nails had chipped and I ended up removing all of the gel within 4 days. If I didn't live so far I would've went back to remove the gel but honestly I'm so disgusted and disappointed-it wasn't worth my time. read more

She gave me an unprompted and unnecessary lecture on how they'd be skipping the massage portion of my manicure because of that as they had "other customers" (the salon was empty). This is also not a spot to come to if you're looking for a quick pamper session. Upon my first and most recent visit to Aer I spent 2 wonderful hours in nail spa bliss. I came to Aer with my friend to get mani / pedís before her wedding. This is obviously a very important nail appointment for said friend, so she picked Aer because of all it's perks. Let's talk about dem perks. 1. This salon is impeccably clean. I'm talking a whole new level of cleanliness I have never experienced in a salon. Each pedicure tub has a liner that is replaced with each client. There are also several mani tool packages so it seems like those are new for each person. It's spotless. 2. Color choices are ON POINT! They've got OPI, Essie, Deborah Lippmann and Éven some vegan chemical free options. I love that they organize the polish by color not brand. It makes it easy to find the vibe you're going for. I went with OPI tiramisu for Two. Man, what I wouldn't give for the punny job of naming these polishes.... 3. This is quite possibly the reason you should run, not walk to Aer. MASSAGES! So your typical nail salon may massage your arms and feet for a few minutes. But Aer is NOT typical. You receive a hot stone massage on your legs after your pedi as well as a shoulder massage after your mani. I would like to give special accolades to Naomi my tech for really doing an amazing job! All the techs provide great service from the looks of it, but Naomi went above and beyond. If I lived in Boston I'd be scared of the Aer habit I would pick up. But for those who do, get your freakin' pamper on at Aer! There's a check-in offer for 5% off your bill, so really no excuse! read more

HOWEVER, I got the mini-dazzle manicure, a quick dry polish but not quite gel (faster application as well). I got this done on Wednesday evening and 2.5 days later and there is a white sliver lining each nail like a faint French that I did not request. I made an appointment here for a pedicure after my friend had recommended this nail salon. It is very clean and they their instruments come in sterilized packets. However, the service was not great: the water was initially scalding hot and I was asked to put my feet in it. It was quite painful when they were work on my toes. The nails were painted prior to the massage was essentially done one handed with not a lot of care as to whether the painted toenails would hit the technician's shirt. So, I used to LOVE coming here for pedicures, and gave them glowing reviews.. however, it seems that the quality and service have deteriorated over the past year. I came in for an "Aer pedi" last week and was expecting the usual level of service, but a few things were disappointing. First: I felt very rushed.. my technician seemed to be trying to get me finished as soon as possible, and barely massaged my legs, did not use toe separators when applying polish, and she barely let me soak my feet. Also, there were no bubbles in the foot bath (just stagnant water), and they don't use the bath bombs anymore (I used to love those!!). Their prices and offerings seem to have changed.. overall, I felt like it was just another nail salon factory, moving people in and out as quickly as possible. Nothing particularly special about it. I used to be a fan of this place and recommended it to many of my friends. During today's pedicure, the technician cut my big toe, and did a terrible job overall. The nails are all different shape, and the polish is not applied evenly, and there is excess skin all over that he didn't remove. He barely massaged my feet and basically phoned in the entire pedicure. When I mentioned this at the checkout, the person apologized but still charged me full price. Best music playlist as well, not sure how they did it but I think they played all of my recent favorites one after the other, as if I was connected by telepathy. I normally don't go to Aer Nailbar, as I have another salon I normally go to. Unfortunately I had to have a last minute manicure done for a photoshoot and my salon was already fully booked for the day. I decided to try this salon and was really disappointed. I got a gel manicure done and the woman took an entire hour to take my gel off and prep my nails. She did not take my gel off with a drill, but rather with a nail filer, which I think is why the process took so long. She also had acrylics on and kept pinching my fingers as she tried to remove the gel. She was really rough with my nails and even broke one as she was filing them. The nail shaping was terrible. All of my nails were filed differently and she also made them significantly shorter, which I had asked her not to do. After my photoshoot, I had to go home and shape my nails myself. Overall I was at that salon for 2 hours for gel removal and gel manicure. Normally, this takes an hour maximum. I had to miss a meeting due to them taking so long. My manicure was paid for by my photoshoot client, thankfully. I thought that with the significantly higher prices (compared to other salons) came better quality manicures, but I was wrong. I would never go back here and much less, pay that amount of money for a less than mediocre manicure. read more
