This was one of the few places open late in Hana so naturally it was pretty crowded and we came several times. Coconut crusted shrimp - flaky coconut strips were a nice addition to the batter. Decent amount of spice if you get the hottest We ordered a half platter of drunken noodle shrimp cause it feeds 5-6 people but the price point is the same as 3 individual plates. One of the few food trucks open at night in Hana, which we really appreciated. That said they close when they're out of food or by 7pm so it's not a late night joint (but nothing is in Hana). Solid eats. We had the shrimp phase thai and the crispy pork belly. The pork belly was katsu style which makes it "crispy" so know that going in. Shrimp Phad Thai fills the belly though could have been more lime for my taste. Bottoming, if you're hungry in Hana and there past 5pm AE's will do you right. read more

It's a food truck. There is a wait. Your order is made fresh and the picnic tables are community seating. We had our water bottles so not familiar with the beverage options but they do have some. There is a gas station down the way if you want more options too. I had a hard time deciding between the fish and settled for the medium spicy shrimp pad thai. The green papaya salad is the perfect dish to settle the heat of the pad thai, but the salad for $7 should have been my meal. It was a large plate and excellent. Service - Nice and made great recommendations. Great selection of vegan and seafood items. However, the wait time is really, really long even at 2:30PM. We came all the way from LA and the food was absolutely amazing. We had the red pumpkin curry with shrimp and it was the best Thai curry we've had in a very long time. We drove the entire length of Hana and Ae's Thai Kitchen seemed like a good place to stop at plus everything in Hana closes early on Sunday so this was really our only option to get food at. The line seemed pretty short so we ordered a Mahi stir fry but we came to realize that they kept taking in new orders but theres only like 2-3 people in there so they couldn't keep up with the amount coming in. Our dish took about 50 minutes to come out that day and I thought that while the fish was good, it was just decent. It's a convenient place to take a break at from all the driving though. I should have asked about the wait time before I ordered but will keep this in mind for next time! read more

Very solid Thai food coming from this food truck! Easy walk from the Hana-Maui resort where we were staying and one of the only spots open on Christmas day, so we quickly picked up a Pork Belly Pad See Ew ($19) and a Shrimp Garlic w/ Rice Special ($20) with two Thai Ice Teas ($5 each) and brought it back to our room to eat. Food came out pretty quickly and the portions were huge for the price. The person working the truck pointed us to the utensils and we were off. The noodles in the Pad See Ew weren't the best we've ever had, but they did satisfy our cravings. I think it could've benefitted from some extra sauce but the chewiness of the noodles was good. The pork belly pieces were plentiful and had really nice flavor, even keeping some of the crispy edges after being mixed in with the rest of the dish. Well done there! The shrimp in the Shrimp Garlic were huge and had a very nice bite to the meat. I could've done with more garlic but I liked the flavors overall. The only true complaint is that the thai tea was too sweet - a little less condensed milk would've been more than enough in my opinion. read more

After a long morning of driving through such narrow roads to Hana this was our first food stop. We found this place on accident while looking for the black sand beach. We ordered shrimp pad Thai. We asked for medium spice but they didn't even add any spice/chile. The noodles were ok. I've had better. It had too much tamarind so it was just sour and then it wasn't spicy either. We also ordered the lemon grass chicken wings. It comes with rice and papaya salad. The salad was ok. Wish it was spicy. The chicken wings were soooo goood tho. This food truck is around a couple other food trucks with outdoor seatin on picnic tables under tents. We ordered our food and our Thai tea came out first with coconut milk. It was smaller than I'd hope for $3/$4 but it was tasty. The rest of the food came out soon too. It seems like the curry was already pressed and they just adde the protein in it. My curry wasn't as hot as I'd liked and the chicken wasn't mixed in like it was cooked with it but I didn't mind. The coconut mahi mahi was yummy. Came with a scoop of rice, papaya salad and 2 coconut crusted mahi mahis. The red pineapple curry was good but a bit too salty for me but was fine for my boyfriend just a tad too spicy for him. It comes with a script of rice as well with a salad. The portion sizes are nicely sized but it wasn't mind blowing like some of these reviews were making it out to be but it was a fairly good meal. I'm also pretty picky about thai food because I love it so very much. If I come here again I'd like to try a noodle dish. read more

They used too much fish sauce that it was too salty. The lemongrass wings were on the smaller side. But the flavor was really good. I wished it was more meatier. I did like that it had a crunchy batter. The pad see ew was tasty, but salty. Some beef pieces were chewy. The pad Thai was good too. The pork belly was battered and fried which I've never had it battered before and really enjoyed that. Tender and fatty. The papaya salad was also good. I don't recommend the Thai tea. It was very watered down. Apparently the neighboring food truck is also part of Thai Kitchen but had mostly burgers, fries and fish tacos. Can't say about the tacos, friend ordered it. read more

The reviews do not lie - this place is a must go! What you NEED to get is the crispy pork belly stir fry. The pork belly is tender and some pieces are super duper crispy and amazing. The rice it comes with is perfectly sticky and the sauce is super flavorful. The medium heat packs a punch as well. We also got the chicken pad Thai and it is your traditional dish. Flavor is just right as expected and no surprises there. To finish it off I recommend the Thai iced tea to get that spice under control. read more

Stopped by for lunch on our road to Hana trip. The whole food truck scene is kinda cute in Hana. Please know that if you have a car with low clearance, be VERY CAREFUL pulling into the lot because the entrance is super steep and we def hit our car bottom. The area is clean and service was a tad rushed but very efficient nonetheless. We got the cashew chicken stir fry, the papaya salad side and the fish and chips. Right off the bat, fish and chips was a bad choice and the reason I am unable to give this place 5 stars. The pieces of fish were massive but extremely smelly. This didn't feel like the traditional cod white fish but something else that literally caused us to gag and we couldn't eat more than one bite. The fries that came with it were fine - slightly too thick in my opinion but still decent. The papaya salad was absolutely delish and that was basically my lunch. They called it a side dish for $10 but the portion size was very generous. It hit the spot in the hot weather and I loved that it was not insanely spicy like most versions seem to be. The cashew chicken stir fry was also very tasty and even though I'm not a big meat eater, I loved the taste. It was flavorful and the rice was well cooked. I'd probably have a bowlful of a veg version of this dish any day. Overall, I'd love to come back to this place if we ever came to Hana again. read more

We found this food truck which is right next to the Hana Maui resort - you can walk there from the back gate of the hotel. We were referred to Pranee during our stop in Hana but unfortunately times we attempted to visit they were not open :(. Thankfully AE Thai Kitchen was available as we had already worked up high expectations for some tasty Thai food and fortunately, AE did not let us down. All the meals are made-to-order so expect to wait 10 - 15 minutes after you place your order. The truck is located with a handful of other food trucks in the lot so if you have a group you can split up as needed. The food tasted AMAZING - very well seasoned and ono (tasty) without being overbearingly saucy or heavy. You can choose your "spice level" from 1 - 3 (mild, medium, spicy) and are generally pretty on-point if not a little leaning towards the conservative / less spicy side. Would highly recommend something with their crisped pork belly as this was superb and stood out even to someone who consumed pork belly on a regular basis. Also had their drunken noodles and green curry (this was a daily special so may not be available at the time). All dishes were phenomenal. I'm literally craving more AE Thai Kitchen as I write this review! Hana is a tiny town and if you're staying at the Hana-Maui Resort (Hyatt), you can walk here in ~5 minutes. read more

We ate Thai food at Ae's Thai Kitchen (Red Truck) & it was delicious! So good we had to come back the next day for more. Definitely recommend! The blonde lady at the counter was also very welcoming! The reason why I chose to do 3 stars instead of 5 is because I had a really poor experience with the white food truck beside them that they happen to be affiliated with ( they sell burgers & nachos. ) While I was waiting for parking, a white man in his 40s approached me & started yelling at me aggressively that I was blocking the drive way. I can understand I was interfering with new traffic coming in & I should move out the way but it gives him no reason to have such an ugly attitude towards the customers who help grow there business. At the end of the day it wasn't about what he said, it was about how he said it & it was extremely unprofessional. Although I have never tried Ae's Thai Kitchen ( white truck ) I don't think I will ever gain the appetite to eat there knowing what kind of workers will be making my food. read more

Stopped by here for some quick bites along the road the Hana. We got Thai tea, fish tacos and the blackened fish sandwich. The food was fast and it was pretty good. We were on the road and met a Thai lady that was a local and sold us her banana bread, that recommended this place so we're here to try their Lao style papaya salad and also had the pork belly that blew our minds away. This place is on a compound with several other food trucks. My crispy mahi with papaya salad was amazing. Very flavorful and the mahi melted in my mouth. Nice crispy outside and buttery inside. On the road to Hana we found this jewel of a food truck. We were happy to find vegan options this far out from the larger cities on Maui. We both had the tofu stir fry. Loaded with fresh tasting veggies, white rice and tofu. The sauce was just perfect. It didn't over power the veggies. The crispy veggie rolls were some of the best I ever had and came with a sweet chili sauce for dipping. I think most of the menu you can select your protein option so your vegan choices become many. The food here is legit. This is the second best thai food I've had, second only to a james beard nominated restaurant in Philly. We went sometime between 6-7pm on a Sunday, and they had steady customers. There were already a handful of dishes that had run out during the evening service, so come early if theres only 1-2 thai dishes you typically enjoy. When you order, you have to specify the level of heat- mild, medium, hot, or thai hot. I like spicy food, and believe its part of the authentic thai flavor experience. I got my dish hot, and it brought the heat as I would of hoped. Can't imaging doing the thai hot tbh. My wife doesn't really like spicy food, and got the medium and found it to be too much. So be honest when you order. I got the pork belly stir fry "hot". I believe it was a grapow based on the ingredients- fresh basil, whole kaffir lime leaves, bell peppers, onion, green beans and thin strips of cabbage. The vegetables were perfectly crips tender, the pork was lightly fried, succulent and took up the sauce well. It came with a huge serving of white rice which helped temper the heat. Amazing, especially for how remote the area is. My wife got the drunken noodle with shrimp as her protein, medium spice. She had a huge plateful, and ended up boxing half to take home it was so plentiful. The noodles were thick and perfectly cooked, the shrimp were numerous and perfectly soft, and she there were many vegetables mixdd in. She thought the broccoli could of been cooked a touch longer. My partner ordered Spicy Padthai without peanuts and was unfortunately presented with non spicy Pad Thai with a heavy peanut topping. We were not too impressed there.
