I just had rear shocks work done on my Mazda 3. I found out after paying for the job that I probably overpaid about 500-700 dollars.

Charged almost $200 for a diagnostics check. Afterwards, they tried to sell me things and up charge for me for services I did not need. For example, they said my filter for the AC was dirty and should be replaced for about $80. I had just installed a new one a week prior. A bunch of scam artists trying to rob innocent people. They quoted us over 4000 for a services and a part that comes together in a kit. Tried to charge for every little part. It comes in a kit! Horrible. Charged me almost 200 for inspection. Said my exhaust manifolds were cracked. They weren't just got the gaskets replaced. Tried to charge me dbl for 1 wheel bearing. Said I needed to replace brake fluid. Just had it done..etc gets worse. All in all I took 15mins down road and paid 1000 unlike the almost 6000 they. 3500 fofor new manifolds? Corrupt mechanic shop Committed the following to my vehicle: -damaged the transmission -broke oil dipstick and left it in the engine -repeatedly lied about the repairs completed in my vehicle -Mechanics consistently contradicting their repair stories -told me that new, and documented new, parts needed to be replaced -continued to up sell me on unwanted repairs even after I told them I was not interested -provided me with a loaner vehicle which continued to have mechanical failures -manipulated my license plate If all of this wasn't bad enough, the owner refused to contact me after multiple requests were made. I left a flat tire to be repaired. It would be remounted when I returned for a while-I-wait oil change appointment about a week later. Also, part of the job was to replace a missing lug nut on the repaired tire wheel. When I parked my car that evening after returning home, I saw that the missing lug nut was still missing. How could that be missed? I'm sure that when I call them next week, they'll have me stop by to get the missing nut replaced. Still, I found that baffling. read more

Aeschbach Automotive: A Complete Disaster - Avoid at All Costs! (One star is generous) I recently had the absolute misfortune of taking my car to Aeschbach Automotive (7182 US Highway 14 Suite 102, Middleton, WI 53562), and I can confidently say it was one of the worst decisions I've ever made. If you value your vehicle, your time, and your hard-earned money, stay far away from this place. My trust in Costco led me to Aeschbach Automotive through a 15% discount on parts and service via the Costco Auto Program. However, Aeschbach's malpractice resulted in significant damage to my car and financial strain for me. Initially, the experience seemed fantastic, like sweet poison. The real problems started from the second appointment but didn't become apparent until the third. During the second appointment, preventive maintenance services for the VPS - CVT Transmission, VPS - Global Complete Cooling System Fluid, and VPS - Brake Fluid Service were completed based on Aeschbach's recommendation. A few days later, my vehicle experienced a sudden breakdown in the middle of the road, accompanied by unusual noises and increased difficulty in movement. It was promptly taken back to Aeschbach Automotive for inspection. They recommended replacing the transmission, radiator, and flushing the engine block--services they had previously performed--at an estimated cost of $10,600. Due to concerns about the quality of Aeschbach's services, I took my vehicle to a Nissan dealer in Madison for a recheck. The inspection revealed multiple discrepancies, including the use of incorrect fluids and improper installation of components. I forwarded the inspection report and video to Aeschbach Automotive for review. After seeing these reports, the owner of Aeschbach Automotive called me and offered to fix my car free of charge. I accepted the offer with thanks. However, a few days later, they reneged on their promise and refused to accept responsibility for the errors, despite the evidence presented. They also threatened to impose storage fees if the vehicle was not removed from their premises. The issues identified during the inspection by the Nissan dealer suggest negligence or intentional wrongdoing by Aeschbach Automotive, including the use of incorrect fluids and improper installation of components. Despite initially acknowledging these issues, Aeschbach Automotive has failed to uphold their commitment to rectify the situation, leaving me with a vehicle in a potentially unsafe and compromised condition. I sought intervention from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP), Better Business Bureau (BBB), and Costco Auto Program. They all documented my complaint, which will remain in their databases for three years. However, they told me that their role is to facilitate resolution through mediation, which did not happen in this case. I learned my lesson the hard way after losing nearly $11,000. Amazing service! I live on the West Coast and had been searching for a particular car for months when I thought I finally found the one. My buddy, who owns a dealership here in the PNW, advised me to get a 3rd party inspection. He looked in his system and found Aeschbach to be highly rated for European / Audi vehicles. Once I started talking to the guys at Aeschbach (Eric and Joe), I had absolutely no hesitation having the car delivered to them for an inspection. This was the best $70 I spent in my life...I feel like I owe them much more! They spent hours going through the car and found a handful of issues that only a dedicated mechanic would find. Communication was great - throughout the week we were texting about the arrangement (there was really bad weather, so it was days before the dealership could deliver the vehicle), and after the inspection they called me to give details. They also sent me a digital inspection report with photos and details that were categorized with green/yellow/red flags. I am a very detailed person who takes outstanding care of his vehicles, I hold a very high standard for maintenance. Their attention to detail and the things they were able to find (too many red flags for my liking) brought me much relief! If it weren't for them, it's likely I would've unknowingly bought a vehicle with issues worth upwards of $5K in repair (parts + labor from a reputable Euro shop). I had both front and rear brakes replaced on my 2015 Rav 4 in October 2019. The cost was hundreds less than the quote from the Toyota dealership. I had my 60,000 maintenance completed last week and again less expensive than the Toyota dealership quote. The detail on the evaluation and subsequent repair report was exceptional. The very friendly service on the phone was outstanding. I asked how much each item on the 60000 maintenance list from Toyota would be and the auto technician looked each price up and EXPLAINED what the item was and why it would need replacement. When I called the Toyota dealership I was transferred to a service advisor and was on hold for a long time. He gave me the price for the 60000 maintenance but seemed irritated I wanted an itemized list of each repair with the cost. Oh and the price I was quoted for the service was $200. less after the evaluation was completed. Who does that...I never paid less at the dealership once the estimate was given. We discussed what could wait until the 90000 maintenance. Sean was my service advisor and was so friendly and helpful and the woman who answers the phone was super friendly too. read more

I had a really good experience with these people. I went in with a check engine light and a bad noise. Long story short, the estimate was not good news. What happened next WAS. After the diagnosis, I was told not to worry because they'd determined I still have a few months left on my factory warrantee. I had no idea (bought the car used). Let me say I am the first person to express my lack of trust in an repair shop. I have spent many years, in many shops, in many cities for car repairs. I have only ever trusted two shops. Aeschbach has become my primary/only shop I take my car to. The staff is awesome and never makes me feel pressured into buying additional services. They never make me feel stupid when I ask questions. Also, you can feel the honesty when you speak with them. Since I work very close they have been able to offer me rides back to work. They offer comprehensive inspection reports. Within the report they add levels of concern, pictures, videos, explanations. I was blown away at the level of care in that document. Lastly, what other repair shops has a REWARDS PROGRAM?? For those of you like me who drive old cars and have to take them in more than they care to... this is awesome. Brought in a well maintained 2010 Jetta TDI for tires and alignment. Car was returned to me with P0300 and P0301 codes and a knock that was not present when I brought the car in or anytime prior. Spoke with service advisors and owner in-depth about the concern and although the owner was very respectful I was talked down to by several employees about following VWs 10,000 mile oil change interval, among other things. Owner did offer to "help out" with labor on motor installation, but I'm not sure anyone in the right mind would trust this (or any) organization after the experience I've had. I chose Aeschbach's higher quote than what I received at other local tire shops for the tires because I was hoping for quality. I may have been better off choosing one of the cheaper options in town because it's going to cost me another $3k+ for a used motor and labor. I will not return to this shop with my vehicle under any circumstances. read more

Had the Subaru Outback in. All the dash warning lights on. Error code diagnostic. They fixed it but the charges were 3 times what it should have been. I'm not from the area and looked for a garage that advertised that they worked on Subaru's. Thought I was having transmission problems but it was a simple mass air sensor problem. They charged more than twice what the part cost at Napa and then padded the labor charge. Sorry I was stuck there. read more

Honestly not very impressed with their services after giving them multiple tries. I believe this 2-star rating is accurate. I will not be taking my car back and I do not recommend if you want to save money on fixing your car. My car is 17 years old with 165k. The first time, I took my car in for an electrical problem it was having. They were thorough in their search for the issue. They were transparent in addressing the tiers in which I wanted to invest in researching the problem. As they were working on repairs, they kept regular, clear lines of communication over the phone with their progress. So far so good. I expect good communication from any shop I take my car to. They fixed the issue in a timely manner and I was back on the road the next day. I will critique them in their recommended services. They provide a very detailed report of all of your potential problem areas, fantastic. Used cars will have some issues. However, some of what they tell you makes it seem like s*** is going to hit the fan in the near future if the problems are not addressed. I took my car to another repair shop (one that I trust), to look at all the problems on Aeschbach's report. They told me that my car was not having issues that were stated on the report (still have not had issues addressed on their report 2 years later). After having an unrelated issue with my car, I decided to give them another go. I did not go through with the repair as they quoted me an obscure amount to fix the issue. I ended up taking my car back to the other shop and the actual issue was unrelated to what Aeschbach reported was the issue and fixed it for 1/10th of the price. At this point they're starting to lose some of my trust. Recently, I gave them one last try with another, separate issue. Same exact thing happened. They quoted me an obscure amount "to get it safely back on the road." I did not go through with the fix and took it to the other repair shop. Again, fixed it for 1/10th of the price and the issue was resolved. Both times this happened, the other repair shop said it was unrelated to what Aeschbach told me was the problem. That was the end of my trust with Aeschbach. I'm sure many people are happy with their services, but I cannot say I will be taking any of my cars back. I'm not sure if I'm the only one this has happened to, but I thought I would share my unfortunate experiences. read more

First, if you google review's on Aeschbach automotive, you won't find anything but glowing 5 out of 5 star reviews, "best place ever" type comments. Sounds too good to be true it usually is! My experience with a Jeep Wrangler was anything but positive. And mostly, because I felt that the staff talked down to me nearly immediately after walking in and explaining what was going on with my vehicle. Had a Jeep Wrangler and I purchased it as a fun vehicle with a rebuilt-salvage title; note Jeeps are so incredibly customizable anything can be replaced and made like-new again, like my Jeep was. Well I told them what was going on, and then said it had a rebuilt-salvage title and the staff immediately locked on that saying well "there is your problem". From then on, well gosh "Jeeps are just some of the hardest vehicles to work on, and well we just don't know what to even expect in such a vehicle with this sort of title." Give me a break it functioned wonderfully except this issue I was trying to get fixed! Also I think they felt I worked a 3rd shift job because I could only go there on my post-call days and I felt like they talked down to me every time they spoke to me because they didn't know me, and treated me like I knew nothing about the vehicle. They took nearly a week to "diagnose" the problem, after having to upcharge me additional cost to "do more investigation" above the standard it takes them. Long story short is that my part was apparently extremely expensive and had to be sent out somewhere to be "rebuilt" because I bought such a poor vehicle, and this "might not even fix the problem." I said NO, and took it somewhere else. Went to a Jeep dealer, got it diagnosed in 1-day, got a brand-new genuine Chrysler OEM part and the total job was out the door for about $300 less than Aeschbach quoted me. Plus the dealer treated me with respect! I would never go to Aeschbach again the way they spoke to me. And don't believe every review you see on google! It's fairly easy to tell which way Madison leans by the cars people drive. Civics, Corollas, Prius, and Subaru's are abundant. I would like to think that any auto mechanic in this area should have some knowledge of the quirks of these vehicles. I brought my car here to have the Transmission, coolant fluids flushed, and tires rotated. I dropped the vehicle off the night before so they would have all day to do what should have been relatively simple tasks. Now, a 7th Generation Civic appears to have a reputation for being difficult to burp the cooling system after you flush it. I would think that any mechanic in Madison should know this. I am apparently wrong. After picking up my vehicle I spent 25 min in my driveway watching bubbles come out. Even after that, I still had air in the system. I ended up taking my Civic to Zimbrick to just get it done even if it was going to cost me more. I had already lost the use of my vehicle over the Thanksgiving weekend at this point which was costing me a car rental for $140.02. Another $67.33 for Zimbrick to burp it, verify the head gasket wasn't damaged, and adding coolant back to the system after it was burped. This on top of $210.79 for incompetent work. I'll never go to this place again. If I could give a lower rating than 1 I would. There are other sites on line where this place has all 5 star reviews. I can't even comprehend how that's possible at this point. read more

This company is phenomenal and highly recommend. They're very honest and they do not take advantage of their customers. They send a detailed report and pictures for proof of their due diligence. I'm very impressed with Nicks customer service and patience with me. As a female I often feel taken advantage of when having work done to my car because I'm not knowledgeable about anything 'cars' they're super speedy and go out of their way to make sure you get your vehicle back as soon as possible and even offered a loaner for the time being. My power steering had been leaking for a while and I was trying to call around to get an idea of cost to replace the pressure hose and possibly the pump (wasn't sure if it was still operable). A friend had recommended Aeschbach's, so I emailed to see if i could get a rough estimate for repairs. I received a prompt reply and the man suggested I bring the car in for an inspection to get an accurate diagnosis. Paid around $65 for an inspection and they called me with the bad news that I did indeed need both the pressure hose and the power steering pump, with the estimate being roughly $1260 (holy cow!). I had previously talked to another shop who gave an estimate of around $850, so I decided to pick my car up and get a second opinion. I called another reputable garage in my area and spoke to the owner, who was confused at why I would need both, seeing as the power steering worked when it had fluid, it just leaked out within a few days. They got me in quick and looked at my vehicle FOR FREE! They let me know that my current pump DID still work and I would only need the hose. They fixed my car the next day for just over $400 and my car has been running amazing since then. I won't be going anywhere else now. So upset with the fact that I almost paid $1260 for repairs i didn't even need, but so happy it worked out it the end. read more

GOOD AT FINDING THINGS WRONG, FAIL AT PERFORMANCE OF FIXING THOSE ISSUES! First Visit: Brought my wife's SUV in for an alignment after getting brand new tires. I left town on business. Tech called an hour after appointment and said job was done. Wife picked up SUV. I returned from business 2 weeks later and my wife said the SUV didnt feel right. Low and behold, it was determined by Aeschbach that the alignment never happened. Ruined 2 new tires. They acknowledged their mistake - 3 out of 10 stars this visit. Second Visit (second chance): Took my Truck in to get brakes and rotors as well as some other work. Tech called and said work was done. I picked my truck up after hours, drove down the street and heard a loud bang. They acknowledged that their tech didnt bolt my brake calipers back in. Lost caliper bolts, gouged the inside of my rim, lost brakes, and just about caused an accident with my family in the vehicle. 1 out of 10 stars and VERY ANGRY! Third Visit (after deciding not to sue, I gave them another chance): I gave them the simple task of an oil change. Got the truck home and it was leaking oil. Took it back, they acknowledged their mistake and put a new seal in and tightened the bolt. 1 out of 10... FOR AN OIL CHANGE! Fourth chance: I called because I felt some of their work may be prematurely failing. Their response: "Take it somewhere else!" read more

I don't recommend them!! They were very nice and helpful but I felt they kept troubleshooting the car at my expense. They told me that it was one thing, so I agreed to have them do it (for a fee) and found out it was not the problem. They told me that they thought it was something else, so I agreed to have them fix it (for a charge), they did the work and told me that it was something else that would cost thousands of dollars more. The one thing that they claimed was repaired failed when I left the shop (I have pictures of this). It cost me over a thousands dollars for them to make my car worse than what it was.
