He initially told me I just needed a new battery and said it was a busy day with a lot of clients, but I would expect proper care and pride in the work during delivery. Shortly after leaving, the vehicle completely shut off while I was driving on the freeway -- no engine, no dash, no lights, and I couldn't even turn on the hazard lights. This was an extremely dangerous safety situation. I took it to AutoZone twice. The first time they tested the battery level. When I called the owner, he was dismissive and kept saying I just needed a new battery. The second time, AutoZone found the battery was not properly secured. When we informed the shop, he said "mistakes happen." When I expressed safety concerns, he responded, "well, it drove off the lot," which was frustrating given what had just happened. I requested a full safety check by another technician, but he said no one else could check it besides him. For such a major and expensive repair, I expected better communication, accountability, and quality control.

The lady behind the counter, when I went and picked my truck up stated, "well, once it got to a real mechanic, they were able to diagnose it." This time around they told me I would need to replace a certain part to get my 4x4 working again. I replaced the part, they told me it was working - it's still not working. I brought my truck back to them, they've had it for a full day, and still haven't looked at the problem. I also have a check engine light on that's related to my fuel fill inlet valve, or a Vapor Recovery System Issues - I think this is beyond their level of expertise to fix it. This is my second day missing work to have them work on my truck, and I have no hope that they'll be able to fix the issues - even though I've already paid for one to be fixed, and they told me it was fixed. I will not be bringing my truck back to this mechanic.

This turned out to be an incredibly frustrating and costly experience. The shop charged $221.94 just for the battery service, which was particularly disappointing considering a local O'Reilly's had offered to do the installation for free if I purchased the battery from them. The service was also plagued by unnecessary delays and oversight. I was forced to pay out-of-pocket for two unexpected Uber rides because the shop kept my vehicle overnight, claiming the mechanic lacked the "proprietary tool" required to remove the battery. In reality, the job only requires a standard 10mm socket for the terminals and a 13mm socket with an extension for the hold-down bolt. To make matters worse, despite paying for a tire rotation, the shop completely missed that two of the rotated tires were left low on pressure. I chose to support a neighborhood business, but this experience was a lesson well learned.
