An Afghani place in Tracy- we just had to check it out! So what exactly is this place - a lot of things: A Grocery -selling fresh produce and dried nuts A Mini Market -with a freezer section for milk, drinks, natural yogurt and microwaveable meals and ailses stacked with tea, coffee, cookies, spices etc - all from afghanistan and pakistan... A Butchery - you can go in and request halal meats and they will slice it infront of you and wrap it to go (lamb, chicken beef) A Bakery - all the way in the back they have baked goods and tons of lavash bread. A restaurant - serving typical Afghani fare. We uploaded pictures of the menu and what we ordered. For an appetizer we shared Bolani Katchalu, warm flaky bread stuffed with leeks, potatoes and spices. Believe it or not he made it fresh right infront of us! and it was delish worthy of a whopping 4 stars. I was also able to watch him gril the kebabs. Dave got the combination plate which came with chicken and beef kebab and I got the Chopan kebab which was lamb. Both dishes were served with a green salad and rice. Dave said the beef kebab was by far the best between the chicken and the lamb and I though the chicken was really good. I didn't like the lamb too much as it was over cooked and really charred and that killed the flavor, I did enjoy the rice and next time will get the chicken kebab. Place was fairly clean and staff were polite.

Not so clean... The eating area was empty so they had plenty of time to tidy up a little.

I was excited about this place because I was craving for something different. So i went in and experienced the rudest customer service ever!. First of all I want to say that it's dark and gloomy inside. you can't even see the little restaurant in the back. I had to ask where it was. So when I finally find the restaurant the cook or whoever it was RUDELY asks "what do you want?" not even a "Hi how are you?" I let that slide and asked for a combination chicken and beef kabob. Then he stupidly asks "no beef what else?" .. well 15 minutes later, I get my meal. I was so turned off by what I experienced, I lost my appetite so i gave my food to my hubby. The food was good but the customer service deserves a big fat 0. Don't think i'll be going back anytime soon

The Chutney is ridiculous. If they have the red hot one buy two. Always get the beef kebab.

Still our favorite Afghan place in the Tri-Valley. Nothing fancy but always freshly and flavorfully…read moreprepared. Pricing are going up everywhere but Kabul Kebab has somehow become a pretty decent value! Ordered 3 dishes for 3 adults and it was more than we really needed. Also ended up ordering potato bolani which was absolutely delicious, but probably not needed as our main dishes were more than enough. Happens when you order hungry sometimes. Service is always pleasant and easy. Still one of our go to places after church. Definitely our favorite Afghan/Kebab place!

I love Afghan cuisine, but unfortunately this did not meet my expectation at all. We ordered…read moretakeout and tried the following dishes: 1. Triple Kabob (with Chicken, Koobideh, and Beef Chapli): 2/5, despite having lots of spices, probably had not the right combination of spices, not well seasoned, kind of bland, and very dry 2. Beef Teka Kabob: 1/5, extremely overcooked and not well seasoned 3. Qabili Palaw: 2/5. Sooo disappointed, because this is my absolute favorite Afghan dish, and it was not well prepared at all. It looked like all components were separately cooked and put together. 4. Beef Manto: 4/5. this was actually pretty good. Still not the best Manto I've had, but something that I would like to order again 5. Bolani Kachaloo: 3/5. Good, but not great. It could have had more filling and more flavorful. I've had much better Bolanis before as well.
