First of all, this is a real review, I live down the road from here and I actually had work done so this review is real, relevant, and should help in your decision. Overall I had an amazing experience. The staff were friendly, professional, and did an amazing job and you should feel safe and confident choosing this dental office. I was in search of a dental office that accepted dentical and was accepting new patience. I called their office and it went to voicemail. Not a big deal because I learned they had changed their business hours due to the COVID-19 virus. Mia called me back the next day and scheduled my whole family of 6 in less than 4 weeks which was pretty awesome considering their limited hours. I was having pain in my tooth so I called and rescheduled an earlier appointment just for myself and they were able to get me in right away. When I got to the office they were using recommended social distancing practices and seeing one patient at a time. I filled out my paper work in the car while I waited. There was some confusion if I was supposed to be there that day but the receptionist cleared the confusion and was able to see me. I did have to wait a while but it was understandable because of the COVID-19 social distancing. After I walked in I was seated and they immediately began taking pictures of my teeth. It was pretty seamless, fast process, and they were respectful and kind the whole time. Dr. Mapanao came in and went over the pictures with me and explain what was happened to my teeth. She was very positive, gave me recommendations, and options so I felt empowered and not talked down too. I had 3 cavities that needed to be filled. 2 would be covered by dentical and the third would only cost a little over $100 because it was starting to get into the dentin of the tooth. We made a plan and scheduled my next visit to get the rest of my work done. I was very pleased with the outcome. Dr. Mapanao is a very nice person and very professional. I highly recommend signing up for this office. I can't wait to take my kids here! If I were to offer any kind of constructive criticism I would make sure that the contact information on the website and Facebook were the same. It was a little difficult to find the phone number but that is an easy fix. read more

I couldn't thank Dr Mapanao and her staff enough for all the patience and sincere care for my daughter's teeth. She recommended to take action before things get worse. And my daughter's previous dentist didn't even bother to recommend us doing anything. She really care about her patients and wants the best for them. My daughter was so scared in the beginning and she won't even open her mouth. Dr Mapanao was so kind that she accommodated her despite all her tantrums and she was very patient to even work for her to just open her mouth and let her do the procedure. It took 2 hours one time for just to convince my daughter and she was very patient. If it's other dentist they would have send my daughter back home. Dr. Mapanao and staff provide phenomenal care. I have been coming gosh about 8 years. I have had bad experience from another dental office where I came in my anxiety so high that I believe I left my first time. The staff reassured that they would tell me ahead of time cleaning, using the drill, and it being a small office is so nice and almost relaxing. I bring my kids here also and they love the dentist. Agape Dental Saw her response to my post. She didn't follow protocol other Dentist I have seen for many years they tell what needs to be done then contacts Ins. Co. then tells you what Ins. will cover and what you need to pay. They never did that it took months, several calls to have claim submitted and when I went back for check up she was very upset what Ins. covered. She and her Office Assistant were talking back and forth in their language when pulling one front tooth which was only part of what she was going to. I did know till after all was that done that she had to cut my gums (I guess) in order to pull it. If she would told me she was going to have a problem pulling the tooth I would have said NO recommend a specialist. She has left my mouth in a mess loose crown and infected gums and no other Dentist wants to touch what she screwed up. Don't know what is going to happen with the implants and crowns. I just don't want any other patient to experience this. So please check other comments and also references or referrals carefully. I would not recommend them at all. I don't want anyone else to have to endure the pain and suffering that I have been going thru since July 2023. read more

Agape told my husband 37 y.o and I 36 y.o.that we needed extensive work on our teeth (periodontal disease deep cleanings, fillings etc) I did do one filling with Agape and then I just had a gut feeling about continuing with all of the other suggested plans. So we went to another dentist. That dentist confirmed my gut feeling and we didn't need extensive work. I also found out that the color matching on my filling was noticeably off. My new dentist office thought it was a stain but after further investigation it was the filling Agape did. Maybe they didn't have enough shades to pick from at that time, idk. Reviews are everything. I used them faithfully. I have never written a bad review but I feel compelled to do so this time. After moving, Covid, we needed to get back to our regular cleanings. My husband and I am 64 & 74. We looked for a dentist in our area and chose Agape Dental. After extensive x-rays, pictures and documentation, we both were told we needed laser deep cleaning, fillings, cracked teeth repair, crown replacement--basically thousands of dollars. We chose to get a second opinion by another dentist. We signed a release so the new dentist could get our x-rays. Agape did not send them. I called to inquire and they never returned my call. Bottom line: yes, my husband needed deep clean, I got regular cleaning and neither of us needed major work done. I would not recommend Agape Dental! How can a business like this operate?! read more

Because we moved I had to switch dentists and I wasn't very happy the way she was cleaning my teeth as they never felt clean after the two minute clean and polish job. Sure enough when they wanted to charge me thousands of dollars I went to another dentist for a second opinion. Turns out! My daughter never had cavaties to begin with!!!! Update... Please stay away from this place... When I went to another dentist the only tooth In my 64 Year old mouth He saw a future problem with was my new crown that I paid 1200 for with insurance. Finally fell out A couple weeks ago and had it put back in last week... He told me it wouldn't last with the way she Prepped the area for it to fit. Fell out again today which was only six days later. So will probably have to get a new crown... so glad I don't go to the dentist anymore. read more

These people DO NOT care. Believe the bad reviews. Nearly two months ago I got a script from them to have a biopsy. I've waited for my appointment with the real doctor only to find out that I have to wait another month because AGAPE DENTAL could not be bothered to send over the request. It was requested several times. So thanks Agape dental.. waiting another month because you CAN'T BE BOTHERED is very frightening. Tried this dental clinic for my yearly dental exam. ( cleaning & xray) First of all,I like how the clinic is clean and tidy. Second,Dr.Mapanao is very thorough and knowledgeable in what she is doing. She gave me honest advice when I asked her what other things I need to do to improve my teeth. I was not impressed the first time at my first appointment so thought I would give their office another chance. I basically walked out of the office in that second appointment. I was concerned with the cleanliness of the equipment and procedures of the hygienist's handling of the equipment, computer, tools and then back in my mouth. I did not feel that the hygienist was very thorough in her cleaning at all. Also, it didn't seem right that you would polish the teeth before the cleaning? The flow of the appointment was not efficient at all. I was in the patient chair waiting longer than the time it took to clean my teeth and x-rays to be taken. Well there are a LOT of negative reviews here. But here's a positive: I've been taking my three-year-old here for the last year. They always are gentle with her mouth, and kind to her! She actually likes going to the dentist. I have Medi-Cal insurance, so it's refreshing to still be treated respectfully ( a lot of places treat us poorly when they see our insurance) . I recently missed my daughter's appointment on accident, and they were very accommodating to get us rescheduled the next week. I'll be taking my second-born here when she is ready. read more

I came to Dr. Mapanao as a self-proclaimed Dentist hater. But let me tell you, Dr. Mapanao is top notch! She's smart, funny, understanding, and she not money-hungry like previous dentist of mine. Agape dental has a strange way of billing procedures. What should have been "no cost" according to my insurance was somehow $210.00 For another procedure what they quoted at $3,000 was done for $800 somewhere else with the SAME insurance. I don't know how they get these numbers. If you don't want to work with my insurance, don't take it. read more

I left this dental office so frustrated. My appointment was at 2pm. I showed up at 150pm. I didn't get seated in the back until 310. Which is just outrageous to me. I was supposed to be back to work at 330pm but I worked it out to come back to work late. The only thing I was getting done was a routine cleaning. A gentleman checked in after me and was taken back before me. I have two dental plans. One is a HMO and one is a PPO. My HMO plan is tied to this dental office only so I have to use it there. i have had this plan longer than my PPO plan. I cannot use it elsewhere. I paid for a PPO separately to have the option to see my original dentist (who doesn't accept HMO) because they did all my ortho work. Anyways this place refused to use my HMO plan. They told me delta will use the PPO plan for a claim and not the HMO and its out of their control. The lady had the nerve to ask me "why do you even have two plans?" Which frankly is none of her business. It's not a crime to have two plans. It was the was she blinked her eyes and her hand gestures that felt rude so me and condescending. She was also training a girl there for something to do on the computer and it just sounded so rude. They need to work on their customer service for sure. I waited over an hour to be talked to like I am an idiot and didn't even get my teeth cleaned. I called Delta and they told me that what she said is FALSE and I can in fact use my HMO plan there and they can't tell me which insurance I am allowed to use. I can tell them to use my HMO end of story. This place has missing ceiling tiles and I just got real bad vibes and flash backs of going to western dental when I was a kid. I will cancel my HMO plan because there is no way in heck I would ever step foot back into that office. What a waste of time. read more

Dr. Mapanao is very open and gives an honest opinion about your oral health and teeth. I finally got her to convince my 12 yr old daughter how important oral health is, and she is finally flossing and brushing regularly. :) I gave only 3 starts and wish I can give her more stars, because I am having the hardest time getting through the front office. They are awful about answering phones and returning your calls. I switched from Cigna HMO to PPO plan and would like them to take us back, and even though I have been told they accept the insurance, they have not been able to set me up for follow up appointments with Dr. Mapanao. I don't understand what the hold up is! Hopefully, we will get to see her soon. read more

Looks great from the outside. Even the girl at the front desk was the sweetest. But oh man that dentist. So rude. Asked me a question and when I answered interrupted me and said "can I talk now?" Um.... well you just asked a question but okay? She was short with me from the moment she realized I had Medi-Cal. Literally the change was so obvious I'm shocked she even wants us "lower class" citizens in her office contaminating her perfect practice that refuses to do anything in a way that Medi-Cal will cover. She was the sweetest person for about 2 minutes until she flipped through my chart and saw that I had Medi-Cal. She wasn't even willing to let me pay the difference for whatever Medi-Cal didn't cover like I had done in the past with my parents help at other offices. SO RUDE. I was actually considering somehow paying for dental insurance and coming to them for whatever Medi-Cal wouldn't cover until I actually met the dentist. Also, I barely got any kind of "cleaning." Even the girl who did it called it a polish..... last time I checked that was not a cleaning. My teeth literally felt no more clean than they do when I brush them myself. I've had a real cleaning and I know the difference in how your teeth feel afterwards. Wonderful to know I wasted my one cleaning a year on them. I'm complaining to the county office immediately because there is NO reason she should even be on the Medi-Cal provider list for Placer County. She wastes your one cleaning and exam to treat you like crap and then smirk when she tells you, "well maybe you should call Western Dental." read more

The first and foremost reason I came here is to replace a silver filling that cracked and fell out, to realize that some of my other silver fillings also cracked. Also had receding gum issues. Dr. Mapanao explained to me the difference of going through the private route vs the public, aka medical. She was very honest and I didn't feel pressured. Anyway, I chose the private route, and I'm so glad I did. Your health is a priority, it is worth spending a bit more $$ on! I did not realize how bad silver fillings are, and was disappointed that I had spent money on them in the past.:( had a few cavities filled so far, and everything has been great. The Dr. is very gentle, I could barely feel the numbing, and I'm extremely sensitive! I def feel more at ease when I come here, and part of that is the staff. I would of given 0 stars if possible. I went in back in June to get my teeth checked out and everyone was super nice and I couldn't afford the monthly payments to get everything I needed done. So today I called and asked if I could set up an appointment to see the doctor again because my teeth are hurting bad enough that I would figure out how to make the payments some how. Well I went in and the doctor was extremely rude and talked to me like I was a little kid and was stupid. She told me I had to pay $100 to even see her or I had to wait till June of this year which is not what they told me last time. They told me the agape dental plan I payed the $100 in with the monthly payments not $100 every time I came in before an entire year went by. Do not go here I rather pay $3000 more to get my teeth done somewhere I'm not talked to like an idiot and the doctor isn't rude as hell! read more

a total Scam! In fact I plan to report them as they are practicing dentistry without a license. I was just in their last week and the license hanging on the wall expired. It could just be the business license, but still when I asked about it, they tried to pull the wool over my eyes. Whats worse is they told me over the phone they would be able to do a filling and when I got their it was a hole other story. I don't usually like to put negative reviews but want everyone to know if you are looking for an honest dentist, DO NOT GO HERE. They will tell you they can do certain work with urgency and they when they have to go through your insurance company they will tell you they can't schedule you until 4-5 months out. They completely wasted my time just to get me in and get my insurance to pay for initial exam. I will be making complaint to my insurance as well. BUYER BEWARE - all these patients says the same thing can't be wrong. When I asked them in a calm manner about why I was told information before coming in, no threatening and very professional, they decided it was easier to just ask me to leave, which I gladly did. I am not writing this out of anger but rather to SAVE YOU FROM ANY PROBLEMS. IF I HAD ALL THESE PROBLEMS WITHOUT EVEN HAVING THEM WORK ON MY TEETH, IT MAKES ME WONDER WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF I LET THEM START DRILLING. Any office that asks you to leave because you are concerned about information you were told beforehand and there is a discrepancy and they refuse to clarify, that tells me something.
