For me, the debate is settled. Avesta is the Top Dog, but Reza did come strong with a silver. Beef Koobideh. 5/5. Succulent juicy skewers of beef kabob. Tender. Enjoyed it with salad. Combo platter 3. 4.5/5 Beef skewer with Cornish hen. Served with FF and salad. Very good. Couple pieces of chicken in the end were burnt Hummus. 4.5/5. Also delicious. Smooth creamy texture. First time and I absolutely love the food here. By far I would say this is the best Persian food I ever had. I got the Reza #3, chicken is super juicy and the charred taste was smoky and fresh. The beef was grounded but very juicy as well. The flavor is well balanced, came with a side of salad, it was little too vinaigrette for me but my boyfriend loves it. He got the Reza #2, chicken was mostly breast I think so was more dry, but still tasted great with the hummus. Overall, the experience was pleasant and we will be back again. Service was fast and friendly, they offered complimentary hot tea at the end too, was very fragrant and refreshing after a homey meal. Reza was a delightful Persian grill that we randomly came across on a Saturday late afternoon. We were seated right away and their table already has a plate of their fresh herbs (Sabzi Khordana) waiting for you. The ambiance was spacious and well lit, but began to get loud once the dinner crowd started arriving. Their menu is pretty straight forward and very informative for someone who isn't familiar with Persian food. Everything we ordered just tasted fresh and well seasoned. - kashke bademjan (sautéed eggplant with garlic, yogurt, mint). Paired well with their special bread topped with sesame seeds (yum!) - mix stews (half ghormeh sabzi and half gheymey bademjan). Get the best of both stews if you can't decide on one. Love this option. - Reza 4 specialty (lamb chop, kubideh, chicken, with cranberry rice and Persian salad). Large portion, easily for 2-3 people. Lamb chops were my favorite. I honestly enjoyed and would highly recommend coming here. The staff were quick, friendly, and efficient. Parking lot wasn't overwhelmingly packed. I will definitely return. I had lunch here a few weeks ago for the first time. My party was promptly seated and after reviewing the menu I chose L4 which is the lamb shank for $17. The meal arrived in less than 15 minutes later and looked great on the plate. A big lamb shank served with basmati rice, dill and fava beans and it was a very good tasting meal. The meat was juicy and tender and rice and beans equally as good. Also at that price point, it was a real value. We all enjoyed our meals and the table service was very good too. We had lunch at Reza today, our first meal there. We ordered the Reza2 special replacing the hummus with bademjan and we also ordered the Persian cutlet. Everything was great. The chicken kababs were succulent and the beef kubideh was very tasty. The bring you Siracha sauce if you want some spice, but we enjoyed the natural Persian flavors. The service was excellent and the waiter was attentive to our needs. The restaurant was clean and well decorated. There was a beautiful banquet hall for catered events. I didn't get the rice with the cranberries in it because I just prefer a plain rice, but the meat I got was perfectly seasoned and cooked well. The cubed chicken and the koobidah were both great. My party of 3 got the combination platter to share and it was tremendous. It is fairly pricey but the amount of food that comes with it is worth the money since it typically serves 4 people. There are also appetizers of salad and naan bread with your choice of dips. We decided to go with hummus and eggplant, which were both delicious. Close parking to the restaurant can be difficult to find since the parking lot is not the biggest but if you don't mind walking a small distance then it should not be a problem. The restaurant itself is brightly lit and there are many tables available and was completely packed when my friends and I went. The service was okay and our food came out fairly quick despite how busy it was. It bothered me that workers were trying to take plates off our table before we were finished eating and we felt rushed towards the end of our meal to finish eating so we just took the rest of our food to-go. read more

Met up with my uncle to try out Reza Persian Grill in Houston. One of my Persian friends at school recommended this place and they swear by it. The parking lot was packed and the restaurant is also very big inside. We both ordered off their specialty platters. We didn't realize how loaded these platters would be so we honestly should just ordered one and shared it. I got the mahicheh (lamb shank) which was served with saffron basmati rice mixed with dill and fava beans. My uncle got the Reza 4 specialty platter, which included lamb chops, chicken tender, ground beef served with cranberry rice and Persian salad. They start you off with complimentary bread, which we bought hummus to dip with. The bread was so soft and was very good paired with the hummus. They also replace the bread if you finish it. My lamb shank later came out and the plate was huge. The lamb shank was sooo tender it literally fell off the whole bone. I don't know if I was eating it correctly but I was dipping the meat in the broth and chased it with rice. The lamb chops were very good. They had a plentiful amount of meat and fat, though they were a bit too over-charred for me personally. The chicken was good and juicy but if you don't eat it when it comes out it'll dry up. The beef, however, was my favorite bite of the night. The beef was flavored soooo well and was very tender. I did what my friend recommended and took some of the bread, slapped on some hummus and mints, with some meat and veggies, and wow it was like an explosion of flavors. I loved the grilled onions and tomatoes as well. The tomato is basically just a ball of juice. We both were only able to finish half our plates and had tons of food left over to take home. This place is so good and the specialty platters are insane value. I definitely want to try more Persian restaurants in Houston, their food is so flavorful read more

I go to this restaurant all the time! My family is persian and by far this is the best persian restaurant in Houston. Super delicious food, great service, and the best ambiance. They always bring the table fresh bread and herbs that u can eat on its own or with your other apps. My personal favorite appetizer is the kashke bademjan. It's a vegetarian eggplant dish that is absolutely divine. Other classic persian apps include the salad shirazi and mast khiar. For entrees, I personally always get the Kabab Barg and it's so tender and juicy. The rice is always fresh and the tomato and onions are perfectly grilled. My families favorite entrees include the joojeh kabab and the kabab koobideh. Whatever you end up getting here it's for sure going to be delicious!!! We can't stop craving. We can't stop coming back. Thankfully, it won't break the bank to do so, AND I get a luxurious dining experience every time. You could never tell from the outside, but the interior has such a high end, modern feel. All the tableware is beautiful, they furnish the tables with fresh flowers, and generally just want to make you feel like you've been transported to a luxe spot in downtown. I am so impressed. Likewise, we have only ever gotten kind, enthusiastic, and attentive service. The chicken is so juicy and flavorful. The beef is melt in your mouth amazing. The hummus somehow got even better since the last time we visited. The lamb shank meat was falling right off of the bone. The rice (Persian rice) was sweet and fragrant. The lima bean and dill rice was such a lovely light pairing to the lamb. Bottomless, fresh, crispy naan you cant stop eating. What more can I say. My mouth is watering as I'm typing. On the practical side of things: In the evenings, and especially on weekends, Reza gets busy with big families - amazing sign, right? Take this into consideration, but we have never had an issue. You can reserve ahead, if needed. Parking is plentiful so there's no need to worry about that when you're on your way to the restaurant. All around, I just can't recommend it enough. I got Door dash around 7:08 and it arrived a little before 8 but I think might be due to confusing address. anyway my combo beef and chicken kubideh is very tasty. next time i call in an order and myself pick up, i will ask for extra roasted onion and tomato. The only thing to get thumbs down is the herb plate. The only herb is Mint. Next included were the cheese, radishes, and walnuts. Don't get me wrong, Darband is still amazing, but Reza is on another level. I actually crave both restaurants and they don't necessarily have the same palette cravings. I'll go to Darband for the the beef barg and/or the beef kubideh and the watermelon/pineapple drink.
