Ate several meals at this sit down restaurant located at the Sea Palm resort during a recent visit. Upon checking in, my wife and I went to the bar for a beer and a margarita with some beer cheese bites. The margarita was from a slushee machine and the bartender gave it to us for free bc it was too thin - my wife did not complain about it. I opted for a Micehlob Ultra and a Centralia (local on tap). The bartender recommended the beer cheese pretzel bites and they were amazing, I could have ate the cheese with a spoon it was so good. We also had Saturday breakfast and Sunday brunch at the sit down restaurant in the clubhouse check-in area. Those are the only days they serve breakfast. Most tables seat 2 or 4 persons but can moved to accommodate larger parties. There is also inside or outside seating. For Saturday breakfast, I had scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, fresh fruit and Gouda cheese grits. The grits were the star of the show. They are amazing. Coffee is self serve, if you want a ceramic coffee cup, you need to ask a server bc they are paper cups otherwise. Brunch was a bit more pricy than Saturday breakfast ($30 per person and $3.50 per beverage) but it was well stocked with an omelet station, waffle bar, the amazing grits with toppings, sausage and gravy and breakfast meats. They also offered fried catfish and chicken, collared greens, zucchini casserole, a salad bar, charcuterie and desserts. It was a large, filling meal. Faves were fried chicken and the grits. I think they make their dressing in house (they had balsamic and ranch). Good option for on property dining, especially when you can use your Hilton resort credit. read more

We heard about their taco and tequila night so we decided to give it a try. We were very surprised that we had to ask about it- there was nothing on the menu about tacos and tequila night. The waitress informed us that it was taco and tequila night and then told us about the tacos. We ordered a chili lime shrimp taco with cilantro and onion and I ordered the house special one that was deep fried pork with pickled onions and cabbage. My husband ordered just a regular pork taco with cilantro and onion. The tacos were flavorful- particularly the shrimp one. We did not order rice or beans. Service was excellent however I was not impressed with the prices. Again- no menu to see prices. The regular tacos were $6 and the today's special was $8. It would have been nice if the waitress had mentioned it cost more than the others. Frankly $6 was a bit expensive for what we gota. Chips and salsa was $5. So great service, good tacos but at a premium price. read more

We have driven by their advertising signs for a while now. We decide to try their Happy Hour and see what was for dinner. The location was clean and inviting. There is a pool off the one side of the restaurant and bar area. The staff sat us down and provided a menu and specials. The happy hour wasn't good compared to other locations on the island. Just a few drink specials and no food/appetizers specials. Additionally, their regular menu had limited appetizers to choose from. We looked at staying for dinner and there was one thing missing off the menu. Shrimp and grits. It was advertised on their web site. We had a drink and decided not to eat dinner. I heard their brunch is good so we will try it later this summer when our family visits. read more

The worst service we've ever had! Sat down, 5 minutes later the waitress came by and said "are you ready to order.." no drinks, water or anything. We put our order in, and 45 minutes later no food or waitress. She didn't check on us once. When the food finally came an hour after we ordered, I asked for water and a side of sauce that was supposed to come with our meal. We stopped in for lunch today and had a pleasant meal. Hubs got the club sandwich with fries and I had a salad. I forgot the name of the salad but it had fried chicken strips, peaches, pecans, and goat cheese with a peach vinegarette. The salad was good, spring mix was fresh and the other items were yummy. But it was huge and I couldn't finish it all. Hubs said his was good as well, but it was a large portion as well. Our service was good and the pricing was reasonable. The appetizers and martinis were great starters, lunch entrees were fantastic, fresh, and prepared to perfection. The service was awesome, from the time we were seated to our departure. In town visiting relatives and they brought us here since it is part of their community. The dining room was pretty empty when we arrived at 6:30pm on a Tuesday though it did get a bit busier as the evening progressed. We started with a round of drinks. What stood out was the bartender somehow sensed that one of the drinks must not have been made to the liking of one member in our party. Even though we were at least 20 feet from the bar he figured it out and came over to the table to check it out. He then went back to the bar and adjusted the drink per the instructions of the patron. Excellent customer service. For dinner I had their take on shrimp and grits with a smoky cheddar cheese and it was excellent. I make my own and will give this twist a try. My wife had the fresh catch sandwich and liked it a lot. We finished with key lime pie and were surprised by the presentation (see attached picture). Was suggested cause there was a new chef. No new chef and my meal was so bad I could not eat it! Manager was very gracious and took it off the bill. My son enjoyed his salad. I ordered the oysters on the half shell and they were good . But my meal of a special pork dish was awful. The potatoes looked and tasted like over roasted tater tots. We have been going to Sago for many years. The food is good but the service has always been marginal but last night was the worst. We had a table of 13 and 5 of us never received our food. The ones that were members were served. We told them to go ahead and eat so that their food would not get cold. After our food did not come, one of us went to find the waitress. She said just give me 2 minutes. 10 or 15 minutes later, the person in charge for the night came to our table and asked if there was a problem. He explained that he was not the manager that the manager had an emergency. By this time, the ones that had food were finished. We explained what had happened and, evidentially, the waitress had entered only the order for the ones that were members. As a result, we did not eat, we came home! read more

Everyone was amazing from the front office to our server Brenda. My extremely new fiancé proposed the first night we stayed at Sea Palms then brought us to Sago the next day to celebrate. Such a delicious Easter presentation!!! Seafood including oysters on the half shell, shrimp & fried oysters... eggs Benedict, biscuits & sausage gravy, Mac n cheese, grits, special foods for kids and a wonderful bunny bar with candy & a sweet lady serving the children's food. Waitress was attentive.... Seats were comfy. That's the good part. The table next to us was served before us and the nachos were saturated in velvetta which should have been the first clue. Bruschetta was REALLY garlic heavy. Steak was over charred and I don't even know how you mess up mashed potatoes but they were barely edible. Last night we had an amazing experience at Sago. Our party of 5 experienced a flat tire about a mile away from Sagos at Sea Palms. First, a resident of the community (thank you Brad) actually came across the street on a Sunday night to change our tire. As that was happening We called Sagos to tell them we would be delayed for our reservation due to the tire drama so along came a golf cart to pick up some of us while the tire was being changed. The man driving the cart was G the manager of the restaurant. As kind and happy and helpful and attentive as he could be. Talk about above and beyond. Then Sara our server, was amazing and ensured our dining experience was top notch. The food was great, the drinks were great, the staff was superb. We stayed at the Sea Palms Resort so we decided to eat at the on-site restaurant. We had the crab dip, scallops and the fried shrimp with a sauce on them. The food was tasteless. Everything was just bland. We didn't even eat half of any of it. However we did have cocktails in the bar after dinner. The bartenders were awesome and very friendly. Also we were shocked they didn't serve breakfast on site. I recommend to just have adult beverages at the bar and not have any food. read more

Came here for Valentines Day dinner and it was awesome. We had the Cajun Seafood Pasta and the Special Prime Rib; both were very good. We were greeted by the manager, Galin, upon arrival and quickly shown to our table where Lilly took wonderful care of us. Service was quick and attentive. The food delivery timing was perfect; we had a few minutes after the appetizers before our dinner arrived and the same happened between dinner and desert. This place has suffered from a name change -- used to be called the "Public House." I guess the owners felt that a name change would erase the history of the former business -- which they also owned. The food is "average" in all respects. The menu at dinner is decent but is quite limited and mediocre at lunch. Service is highly variable -- from a "2" to a "4." I don't know for certain but guessing that "captive customers" (i.e., Sea Palms members) support it because members have a minimum purchase requirement? Regardless, there are better places to eat on SSI, although none in the immediate vicinity (no, please don't suggest Brogen's North ...) Oh ... and don't expect much of a beer list. read more

We went there with my son and family from Florida. The salmon my daughter-in-law ordered was not cooked enough, my grandson's filet was not a good piece of meat he had to trim it and it was not medium. The potatoes were good. My son's meal was okay. Mine and wife's was edible. This was the second time there. l complained to the manager and said he would talk with the chef and would adjust the bill. When I went to pay, the bill was not adjusted we have not been back since. I am tempted to try them for my birthday and see if they improved. read more

As neighbors, we like to patronize local establishments. Unfortunately, the food and service has been inconsistent @ Sago. Upon our arrival, even though there were numerous open tables and 5 servers visible, it took almost 10 minutes for the host to figure out where to seat us. Initially, our server was prompt, and our selections were served quickly. My spouse's meal was luke warm, however, the server never re-appeared. Additionally, our bread was dropped on the floor...the runner eventually brought us more, coupled with his "I don't want to be here" attitude. When we were ready for our bill, the server was nowhere to be found. Eventually we got the bill, but she never re-appeared. I had to search her out to pay our tab. This is our third time @ Sago in recent months. Service and food quality is sporadic. read more

I had a shrimp basket and compared to most other places, this one had nice big shrimp and more than I could eat. My only dislike was it was very warm inside.
