Not a fan. Went here with my friend today and waited 15 mins without being greeted. The staff sat three other tables after us, and all of them got waters and bread before we even saw our server. Food was okay but nothing special. Bathroom was a joke. No hand sanitizer and hot water was broken. Isn't that automatic restaurant shut down? Especially in a pandemic! Also the restroom light is on a motion censor, but the censor can't see you near the toilet, so it turns off leaving the room pitch black. I guess that explains the pee on the toilet seat before I got there. Manager was wearing a laker's hat and cussed and yelled several times at staff on the dining floor. He also grinded/danced on a female staff member--very awkward. Maybe they were having fun? I dunno. But it felt awkward and was very inappropriate for the "fine dining" setting. Also, reggae music? At an Italian concept? Why? The entire night's music was reggae. Last, the menus were full of greese and wine stains. I'm pretty sure in a pandemic you should be printing between guests! Not sharing them. Or use a QR code like everyone else. Also, the tables were super sticky. The busser dropped the bread from his tongs on the sticky table and then picked them up with his hands and put them on the center plate, saying "table is clean, trust me". This cracked me up! We came for the restaurant week but the server hid all the restaurant week menus behind. When we asked for the restaurant week menu they reluctantly gave us and say to me very loudly everyone must participate and tried very hard to make me order family style. After I insisted on the restaurant week. The head waiter started acting very rude to me and the whole table. He seemed to mock us every time he came by. The food was extremely slow the whole dinner took more than two hours. Water only filled only once; I was so thirsty I had to walk to the front asking for water twice. I love this place for the food! Very close to dining in Italy, my sister has lived in Italy for 20+ years and I go over quite a bit. I hit this place quite often and have tried a good portion of the menu and never been disappointed. I highly suggest Agrodolce Osteria, best Italian food in the East Bay in my book. Couple of issues: 1. Service is just plain lousy. I have no issue for my food taking longer that I might think it should, assume it is made with such care based on everything I've tried. I do, however, resent having to chase folks down for another drink, water, bread, etc. 2. Space is kinda crumby, livable, but crumby. It is also cold all the time. I love the fireplace and the projector on the wall. It felt real cozy especially with the chilly weather we've had the last few days. My wife and I came to have dinner on a Friday evening. I forgot what we actually ordered since our waiter Walid recommended all of the dishes we had (ALL WERE DELICIOUS). He was patient with us since we don't really know much about Italian food. We had the lemon gelato dessert- which was a frozen lemon shell filled with lemon gelato. It was actually our first time seeing that! I also love that they have a bar. Everything was reasonably priced and we enjoyed ourselves and appreciated the service we were provided. Will be returning! read more

Our son is running the Berkeley half marathon today so his choice to eat the best carbs in town was Agrodulce! He had the ravioli's and there wasn't a drop of sauce left on the plate. The minestrone soup is like going into an Italian grandmothers kitchen and being fed love. We also had cannoli's for dessert and that is like a little party. They are homemade and delicious. There is not a plate that's not delicious. We have become regulars because we eat well, the price is right and the owner Angelo always makes us feel like he's missed us since the last time he saw us. It's hard to beat the food, the wine and a visit to our " Italian family". read more

Came in on Wednesday, got the Frittura Misto, which was lightly breaded (which is to my preference). For entrées my wife got the Ravioli Porcini, and I got the Bucatini Chi Finuchiedde. Both were great, but the Ravioli was especially good, very flavorful. The staff was very attentive, but they could use a little more wine knowledge, which I'm sure will come in the future. There are some kinks that need to be worked out still, but that's to be expected of a new restaurant. Looking forward to coming back for other dishes and seeing the improvements as well! read more

I used to love this place until tonight. Atmosphere is racist and traditional. Non-Italians are not welcome. Do not go there if you're not Italian. Owner is not only rude but extremely racist too. He racially harassed me and my mom. Tap water no ice, smelly water glasses, 40 minutes waiting time for food, and unfriendly staff. It was definitely my last time here. I don't pay to be disrespected. Quality of food has been diminished since last time I was here. read more

This place is very unfriendly place, the manager is a racist, he will give priority to whites over others, it takes an hour to be seated, about 1 hr to 1hr 30 minutes before dinner gets served, servers are even unaware what order was placed, bathroom is really dirty, even toilet seat is broken, I have not been to a restaurant like this in my life, Name of the restaurant does warrant its Quality and quantity. Geez what a beautiful restaurant with wonderful food to match the host Angelo's very personable likes to come to the table and is a wonderful chef. The swordfish is super fresh and flavorful the winds are all standing I've never seen a restaurant that has more whites and reds by the glass in Berkeley. I'm here by myself at the end of the bar observing and it seems like everybody is having the time of their lives. read more

We went there for a company holiday party. We had never been there and did not know what to expect. The food was great. The atmosphere and service were really outstanding. Food was very good. The service was terrible. After finally being greeted an the server complained about being busy, we never saw them again after the drinks were served until the check was placed face down at the end with no comment. So happy to have this in North Berkeley! Portions were generous and the flavors were amazing. Superb butternut squash risotto, bread and peppery dipping olive oil. Coffee was excellent. The staff is gracious and attentive and the owner treated us like family. The sounds bounce off of the walls and make it incredibly difficult to have conversations. Delicious food, great management, attentive staff, excellent wines. Angelo is awesome. read more

Great service, great food, very interesting menu and both of our meals were superb. Cozy, fireplace, pleasant waiters and they put a candle in the cannoli for my son's birthday, and sang "Happy Birthday" to him in Italian. Very reasonable for the quality of the food. As the owner sat us, he leaned into me and said I was gorgeous. He then complimented me on my chest tattoo and looked down at my chest, which felt like he was staring at my breasts. Great second restaurant by the D'alo family. The space in beautiful, ambiance is inviting, and the menu is appetizing. The caponata, octopus salad, squid ink risotto, and swordfish were all delicious. Looking forward to coming back and trying more of the dishes. read more

This is turning out to be one of our favorite go-to places for outdoor dining in Berkeley. Well set-up and attentive. The ambient noise from the street is a drag but other wise all is well. The food is well-prepared and served hot, and reasonably priced. read more

Went to the soft opening. Favorite dish was the U'Picuraru. All the food was excellent. The place looks great and has a real nice atmosphere/vibe. Angelo the owner was very attentive and made sure everything was taken care of. Definitely going back! read more
