This is one of my favorite places to eat. The food is so light but yet so filling. I always get the salmon plate with all the extras. The staff here is friendly and nice. I wish they would make more closer to my house lol. All in all, 10/10 read more

It costs about $10 for this "ahirrito," which is basically a cut roll that hasn't been cut. Well, it's cut, but not in small pieces, just in half. The roll is pretty small, and in the words of my daughter, "I am not happy with the fish-to-rice ratio here." The flavor was lacking. The fish could've been fresher. I get that poke bowls are trendy now (yea, it's "POKE," NOT "POKI" SERIOUSLY STOP WITH THE "POKI" IT'S DRIVING ME INSANE), but it's really nothing new. You can get better, cheaper, fresher bowls with your choice of about 20 kings of "POKE" in like the grocery stores in Hawaii for half the price. So, I might just be spoiled for anything but real Hawaiian poke, but this was meh at best. I couldn't justify paying 10 bucks. I acknowledge that I'm probably a poke snob. Poke for me is practically a food group, so yea. Unsatisfactory. The service was ok. I felt like they were kinda impatient and also not very attentive. Given the current COVID-19 situation, my friend and I decided to order takeout through Yelp. When we arrived, the girl working let us know that our order didn't go through for some reason but was very nice and just put together our orders for us so they wouldn't double charge us. The poke itself was delicious, and she was very generous with the portion size. I ordered a regular bowl with half rice half salad, salmon and spicy tuna, half house sauce and half spicy creamy (highly recommend this mix), cucumbers, crab salad, cilantro, scallions, masago, and seaweed salad topped with furikake. I'm usually not super crazy for crab salad but for some reason theirs was just SO good (kind of a weirdly specific item to be so good at .) In terms of the food - highly recommend. The only reason why this review got 4 stars was because the girl making our bowls didn't wear a mask... it really got me nervous again with the COVID-19 situation. Pleasantly impressed! Ordered delivery. Packaging- Each bowl arrived in double-layered microwaveable bowls separating the rice from mix. Super flavorful, even though only one sauce arrived. Maybe you can mix sauces when ordering inside. Crab meat- it doesn't count as one of your protein. And you can also get one crab and one spicy crab. This deserves an extra star. Wasabi- good flavor. Being Asian and having family from Hawai'i, this is NOT the poke place for me. The price alone is strike 1. $9.50 for a regular (with 2 scoops of fish) $11.50 for a large (with 3 scoops of fish) $1.75 per extra scoop of fish...do. the. math. I'll admit, the regular is SMALL, but if you don't want a lot of base (rice or salad) then this might be the better option for you and just do an extra scoop...I digress. I got a large, I figured going in for the first time, go all out. They will gladly give you samples if you ask, but their mixed fish (tuna luau - tuna, green onion, avocado, and red onion and kimchi shrimp - shrimp, cucumber, and kimchi marinade) are both bland. Yellowtail is also $1 extra (and the quality did not look that great), strike 2. I got tuna, shrimp, and scallop. They tend to give you a scoop plus a little more, but the girl wasn't paying attention to scooping my fish, and scooped nothing on the bonus spoon (The lack of care was more humurous to me), but STRIKE 3. There's a nice selection of sauces. PICK MORE THAN 1 or ask for at least triple the amount. My bowl is literally fish on rice because the sauce only coats a few bites and I can barely taste that, hmm...another strike? Yeah... The toppings are plentiful as well; some are mixed in, some make the final toppings. Avocado is also $1 extra, (if you're really hard up on that, get the tuna luau). The presentation looks delicious! The final execution, disappointing. I know they're new...I still don't know if I'd give it another chance. Especially at their price point. In the craze of ahi poke bowls, I feel you really have to have a catch in order to get enough foot traffic, but who knows, that's just me. Let's start with the good: decor, environment, atmosphere. This place is new and super clean. Really well designed and the deco looks nice and modern. The fish is really fresh. Looks pretty top notch. Doesn't look frozen or limp or sad, but I also came opening day (and two days after), not when it's slow and just trying to stay afloat. Ok...and now I have to talk about the things I don't prefer. This place is expensive for a standard poke spot. About $12 for a large bowl with three scoops. Yep, not five, but three. Oh, they might be bigger, you say? No, they're tiny little scoops that any place has. It's about $10 for two scoops. And the extra charges: avocado, yep. And yellow tail. What? Yellowtail is extra? Ok. The sauces - they're just so standard. The workers oversauced my poke that was on my salad and it was all so salty, I could barely eat it, but I paid for it! I'd bring dishonor to my family if I didn't finish this meal. I wish they had fish that was marinated in the sauce because guys, that's actual poke. These places are just trying to tell you that sauce is food and that food is good bc of sauce. Food should be good bc it tastes good with subtle flavors and natural flavoring from each ingredient. Opening week had a 50% off your poke bowl with a purchase of a drink, which really meant, you would get your drink free when you do the math. It's absurd to think my total would have been $12 and I got a drink and paid $9. That's kind of normal for a poke place, don't fool me. Either way, thank you for the discount...I just didn't need a drink. Besides that, this place isn't worth it to me. UGH. I was waiting 5ever for this place to open to have a poke spot close to work. After today's visit, I shan't (I thought it was shalln't but Google proves me wrong lol) be coming back. Frankly, price is what makes me not want to come back. For 2 scoops, I paid $10.24. Check out the photo of the bowl next to my keys on how small this 2-scoop bowl is. For the same price or even less, I can get a 3-scoop bowl (obviously more food) for the same or better quality elsewhere. This is my biggest gripe. Had the price been cheaper to reflect the amount of food you're getting, it would completely change my review to a 4ish star review (and I'd probably come back). While I was waiting in line, I heard the staff member ask the customers in front of me if they want sushi rice or brown rice. My ears perked up hearing "sushi rice" because not a lot of poke spots I hit up have it and sushi rice totally changes the game in a poke bowl. It's not sushi rice; it's just regular rice they would use for sushi, but not prepared as sushi rice aka no tangy flavors. Just regular white rice as the menu says, but I got excited for no reason when homie said "sushi rice." I didn't like that the manager (I'm assuming manager because he was in the collared shirt compared to regular t-shirts everyone else was wearing) mixed my fish with used tongs. He got ginger bits mixed into my bowl from the previous customer's bowl. I hate the taste of ginger by itself; kinda makes me gag. So I had to pick through my bowl to make sure I got all of the bits of ginger out because if one snuck into my mouth (woah there) I'd be a very unhappy camper. Some good stuff about this place. Good variety of sauces and fish (tuna luau and ceviche). Fresh fish. Fresh toppings. They had mango, which my Filipino self was doing cart wheels for (I just wonder how good they'll be when they're in off season). BUT $1 more for avocado, when we all know some other places add it at no extra cost. But it's okay avocado, I'm extra too. Staff was courteous. Decor and interior are Instagram worthy with the distressed wood aesthetic. I struggled with the star review because 2 means I won't come back, but 2 also means the food sucks. I've been waiting for this place to open for months! Finally got a poke place right next door... and they're giving 50% off with the purchase of a drink. Sneaky sneaky, but hey, I'm still saving. The place is nice and clean, obviously... It's the first day of business. Design of the space is cool too, but on a crowded day like today with a line out the door, a second trash can would probably be helpful. Small bowl is 2 scoops ($9.50) and large is 3 ($11.50). That's a bit of a bummer, seeing as most places I've gone to offer three sizes and the medium is usually 3 scoops while being around $10... I think it's like $1.75 to add another scoop, so you could always do that. Anyway, the fish was fresh, and lo and behold they are serving my gold... yellowtail. I love me some yellowtail, and when I saw they had it, my face shone bright... I jumped all over it and asked for two scoops like an excited little boy, and then my wife burst my bubble, reading a sign that said "yellowtail add $1." I was bummed, but the guy serving me said it was okay and that he'd let me have it without the extra charge today because he hadn't said anything before he dropped it into my bowl. Score me. Score the customer service here. It's going to be dangerous living a 5 minute walk from a poke joint that serves yellowtail. Sauce selection is pretty good. I'm very grateful the sauces actually have descriptions so I don't need to ask about every single one I've never heard of. Kudos. Toppings were standard. They had all the essentials... avocado is +$1 and they've gone a little wild offering tamago for +$1 as well. The house drinks are a guava, a Thai tea, and a tropical flavored drink... priced at $3.50. Steep, but they offer refills. The tropical was nice and refreshing, tasted exactly what I'd expect for something tropical. The Thai tea tastes a little funny, almost like it's made from a powder mix... my wife said she saw them brewing it though. I'll try it again another day just to make sure. Overall, my wife usually gets full on a three scoop bowl from other places and often offers me what she can't finish, but she was able to polish this one off without that full feeling. Needless to say, the same went for me... especially since I didn't get any of her leftovers. lol The fish is fresh, and the service is good. Also, this place is basically in my backyard, so that's a huge plus. It's not my favorite poke place, especially when we're talking value, but compared to the couple of places nearby (Rancho) this place offers a premium protein like yellowtail even if it is extra and is just about the same level everywhere else with the portions here on the smaller side. In the area and felt like having poke today. Excited to try an almost 5 star poke place so was disappointed it didnt live up to the hype. Been to a few poke places recently, and this isnt gonna make the top 5. I like the cut size of the fish, noticeably bigger dicing than other places. Topping options are all standard but plentiful, so there should be something for everyone to look forward to. And 7 sauces over the usual 5 (or even 3) at some places, is cool, but i got the sweet citrus dressing and it wasnt memorable-it was just a citrus based dressing with a little sweetness. I didnt like the fact that the salad serving was light. Ive never finished my greens before finishing my proteins, usually the other way around. The serving of crabmeat and seaweed salad was small, like mini melon ball scooper small. Most places just load that stuff up, or will if you ask for extra. In the end, i enjoyed my 2 scoop salad bowl, it was light and fresh and moderately satisfying. But ive never finished a bowl and still wanted a snack so that's why im giving 3 stars. You've left me wanting more but in a bad way. So I'll stick to my usual poke places (like Lowkey Poke and Tayos Sushi in Riverside). read more

I come here pretty often. A co-worker at my old job took me to the Ahipoke in Covina, California about 4-5 years ago and that was my first experience with poke ever. Allow me to preface by saying I LOVE sushi. Salmon is my absolute favourite thing in the world. The poke bowl I had that night in Covina was eye opening because it was basically a sushi bowl, but cheaper than going out for sushi. If I remember correctly, I got a large bowl with white rice and 3 scoops of protein: 2 salmon and 1 tuna. House sauce. Add avocado and crab meat. That's it. So fast forward a few years and I hear that an Ahipoke is opening close to me in Upland. I live about 3 miles away in Ontario, California. I'm stoked. It's been at least 2 or 3 years since the Upland location opened and I come here at least once a week. My order is always identical: A large bowl with white rice and 4 scoops of salmon, just remember you have to pay extra for a 4th scoop. House sauce. Add avocado and crab meat. Delicious. I will say there have been a handful of times where the fish hasn't been that fresh and a few times where the rice was hard / cold. But out of the likely 60+ times I've been here I've had say...maybe 4 bad experiences? I attribute that to the high employee turnover. Seems like the employees revolve here pretty frequently with no one employee staying for longer than a few weeks. I get it...service industry, young college kids, it's not your career, etc. Also this location does not pay for Spotify and there are commercials played frequently over the speakers. I find it funny because I don't pay for Spotify Premium either and I'll often laugh when the "Tap now to watch a 30 second video to get 30 minutes of free uninterrupted music." commercial comes on. read more

The "manager" guy pour water to clean grill and says it's closed for the night . They close at 9 it was literally 8:45 . I waited all that time to be asked what I was going to order then I was told no after waiting . I've been coming here a long time . That he never happen to me . Trying to hurry up and rush customers out the door is not a way to keep customers coming back . My hubby felt like trying this place so we swung by and was actually surprised! They have a vegetarian option now which they call tuna something (I forgot the exact name) but it's made out of tomatoes and it actually had the texture of tuna and appearance. I got a half and half with brown rice and salad which comes with 2 proteins. Got the kimchi shrimp and the tomato tuna thing. I guess since it's 'fish' the scoop isn't that big :/ looked like 2 oz max :( so since it's two scoops that's about 4-5 oz depending on the scoop over load if any. If you're ok with that then right on! But people who need higher protein you'll be spending more moola. Everything tasted fresh though so can't complain and it looked very clean inside which was very nice! I also got a miso soup and that was some good flava!! Especially on a cold day. The fish tastes super fresh and was super tasty. For those that complain they only put a little bit of toppings on your bowl, ummmmmmm, ask for more? I did, and the employee didn't complain at all. I thought the serving of seaweed he put atop was a little small, so I asked him, "Can I get a little more?" and he just said "sure", and put some more on. No big deal. If you're looking to get "filled up", go with the rice. If you're looking for something light, go with the salad. I don't really understand the reviews where people say, "It didn't fill me up" yet they ordered a salad. Huh? Came here for the soft opening and got the daily special (50% off with a drink purchase). Got a 2 scoop bowl with half brown rice and half salad with tuna luau and salmon with plenty of toppings. I liked that they had some scoops with different options (such as kimchi shrimp, ceviche and the marinated tuna luau) as well as the different sauces. However, compared to other poke places that I've eaten at, I felt that the ingredients weren't very fresh-tasting and the flavors were a bit off. Service was quick and staff were friendly. The atmosphere is casual and I like the decor. I also noted that they do charge extra for avocado while other places I've been to include with the toppings. However, they do offer unique toppings such as pickled radish, microgreens and mango (although the mango was not ripe at all). If there was a 3 1/2 star option, I think that would be a more appropriate rating for the food. Still a solid place to catch a bite, just wasn't my favorite option for poke.
