Ordered online for pick up at 4:30pm. We arrived and 4:27pm and my order was ready. They told us to pick out our canned drinks from the fridge. We ate inside and the food was still hot . No complaints at all. The booth seating was getting some type of work done and they were playing good Hawaiian jamz. As new customers came inside, I noticed they the staff would always say "hi" and "welcome". I've had better Hawaiian food but their macaroni salad always hits. Management and ownership have failed their employees. I ordered one combo plate and had to wait 48 minutes because they only had one cook. The two young cashiers were doing their best to manage the upset customers due to the long wait. I gave the young staff some words of encouragement and advice to notify customers that the wait was going to be an excess of 45 minutes to give them the option of going somewhere else. Management should have trained these young staff that if the wait is going to exceed 15-20 minutes, they should be notifying the customers. I've been to this Ono Hawaiian BBQ in Upland on many occasions prior to COVID-19, but I haven't been back for 1+ year. This review is a late one LOL. Anyway, their staff is usually friendly... it all depends on the person taking your order. Service is normally quick depending on how busy they are at the time. My go-to entrees are Seafood Mix (comes with Crispy Shrimp (fantastic!), BBQ Chicken (delish!), and Island White Fish (just okay!) or Shrimp & BBQ Chicken. I love shrimp so I'm a fan of their Crispy Shrimp. I love their BBQ chicken... so tender and delicious... wonderfully marinated! I also love the cabbage that comes with the entree... so sweet! I enjoy their Macaroni Salad, too, so sometimes, I'll order extra scoops of it. They used to have a noodle soup entree, but they got rid of that a while back probably due to low demand for it. I would order it again if they brought it back. Anyhoo, I haven't tried anything else from here since I have my favorites. Gotta go with what I know is good LOL! I like eating here but I'm leaving a bad review for horrible service! I'm just hoping the manager sees this since as the employee said he's going to "tell his manager on us" this isn't the first time this particular employee who works this shift has given bad customer service but tonight he was just straight up rude We go in an 8:15 get two meals and sit down to eat (restaurant is pretty busy, full, other people eating not just us) The guy cashier is always passive aggressive. We've experienced him being like this before but i imagine since it was busy(?) he was extra mad. He mops a section of the restaurant and blocked it off with chairs at like 8:45 we're packing up to leave and my boyfriend goes to dispose of the trash in the trash can and proceeded to get yelled at for walking on the mopped floor but.... They blocked off the rest of the way with chairs?? My boyfriend was calm and was like i was just throwing away the trash you moved the cans over here? And the guy got super aggressive and said "i will never serve you again you're rude for even eating in here in the first place when we're about to close!" Sir we placed our order 50 minutes before you closed and were leaving 10 minutes before closing while people are still in there ordering! I'm sorry I've worked in service industry as a server bartender all of that and you just don't treat paying customers that way when we're leaving 15 minutes before closing. Really can't go wrong with this place. I love the half chicken katsu half bbq chicken, with rice and mac salad. So good! The only downside is this place didn't have Sriracha so that def changed the flavor and was so sad. I need that spicy sauce! I guess I'll have to bring my own next time. read more

I really like the food here . I always get the white fish plate with rice and salad. It is filling and flavorful. On average it takes 15 + minutes to have your food made. I have experienced this on at least 4 visits. This fast food is not fast. If you are on a time crunch for your lunch break you may have to pass. I've tried multiple times to call and order ahead. They are polite when they answer the phone but always put you on hold and forget about you . Today I saw one person in the back and one person running the front. A third person was on break. The poor front guy was trying to greet everyone, be friendly, answer phone calls , take orders , and pack and give out orders. He was doing a good job but needed help. If the manager reads this tell your staff they are doing great and please give them more help during peak meal hours. Thank you . read more

I was greeted immediately upon entering, which doesn't happen at many "fast food" places, and the team was so nice! The restaurant was really clean, and my food came out pretty quickly. The food usually takes about 15 minutes but is always worth the wait and can be a little pricey but it comes with more than enough for to fill me up.
