This is still my go-to takeout sushi place, but recently there's been some issues with the freshness and taste if the sushi. Most of the time it's great, and they even kindly provide these complementary veggies as a gift, but the volcano roll was too fishy and scallop-y, and one of my other recent orders of the Candy cane Roll was a little questionable with the freshness of the raw fish

Oli was our server and was amazing! The quality of sashimi was great and they gave great portion sizes. Definitely coming back to try more of their specialty rolls.

This is the first sushi place I have tried so far in Dallas and it was a win! I picked it because it had good reviews, was super close to me, and more importantly, it had my favorite sushi combo. I am picky when it comes to sushi and this restaurant had my favorite roll! Score! I can't say much about the ambience or service because I got my order to go, but when I went inside to pick it up it was nice and quiet. For 6 pm on a Friday it was pretty empty but had lots of to go orders ready. Mine was ready when they said it would be which I appreciate! Food was great!!! I got the Shrimp Tempura roll which is the roll I always look for at every sushi place I try. Happy to have found a place near me that has one, and for a great price!! The only negative about the sushi and why I have not rated it 5 stars is because of the way the roll was wrapped. The black seaweed wrap was so hard to eat, I had the hardest time chewing and swallowing it. At one point I started choking and got scared it was going to end badly... but I survived. Really unfortunate that it was so hard to chew. I wish they would reformat this roll like traditional rolls so that I would not be hesitant to order again. It really made it unenjoyable to eat as I was struggling to chew it for every single piece. I also got beef fried rice which was a 9/10. Had lots of vegetables, the beef was delicious, and the portion was amazing. I found myself adding a good amount of salt and soy sauce though, but I don't mind. I am also very picky with my fried rice so very happy I found a place that makes it how I like. I will definitely be coming back here and getting my same order again. Maybe cutting off the black seaweed though as it was just really scary trying to chew it. Can't wait to come back.

We were in the neighborhood craving for some late night eats. This restaurant is open late and really hit the spot for our sushi craving. The service was very friendly and efficient. Our waitress was great! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance reminds me of a bar/club. It would be a nice place to hang out with friends or with a date.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I am deducting one star for their very dark restroom. It was clean but the lighting was pitch black.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Being in the city I know that keeping the area clean is a struggle with people coming in and out. We didn't need to park as we walked in as we were staying at a nearby hotel. I did notice there were some street parking spots available. Overall if you are craving some late night eats, this is a good spot to check out. The sushi is good (not phenomenal like more posh sushi restaurants)...definitely great for the price it commands. Worth a visit!

Love all the "no rice" roll options

Stuck in the hotel for a meeting, so decided to order sushi since every day this week was either a BBQ, Steak, or Mexican food day. First the food was delicious. Loved the "no rice roll"options. They actually have quite a few on the menu. I was going out on a limb to order the kimchi fried rice, because I couldn't find any photos.. but it did not disappoint. Love that it reheats well too for leftovers because there was so much. I love that they deliver their own food, originally to be delivered in 60-70 min, and although they were 15 min late, they definitely deserve a little slack as it's been inclement weather. Only reason I'll give it a 4* is that they forgot my side salad. So, just waiting for my credit to hit my account. But otherwise I wouldn't hesitate in patronizing again when I'm in town.

Last time I tried this place out was two years ago and three years ago. The last time was quite disappointing and I have 2/5 stars. Ordered via Uber eats on a Sunday afternoon around 2 PM. Food didn't arrive till about 3 PM. All the items inside were really wet... it look like the salmon heaven had a bunch of fluid in it & might have spilled everywhere. Salmon Heaven - Again, no description on the UberEats site, but this again did have sliced jalapeño and Sriracha on top with some other sauce. Salmon quality is watery and not creamy - I suspect this is why it has jalapeño, Sriracha, and drowned in sauce to hide the poor salmon quality again. Dragon Roll - Bite sized, but unagi is strangely dry & seems like it's been sitting out in the open for a while. The sauce doesn't have the stark sweetness that I typically expect from a dragon roll. Rice was quite bland & tastes more like plain rice instead of sushi rice. Alaskan Roll - Pieces are slightly larger than biter sized. This salmon quality seemed better. Rice was quite bland again. Overall, it was sushi. Nothing was terrible, but Maybe slightly less than average? Prices for this type of quality are exceptionally high and not worth it IMO. I would not recommend this place. I would not intentionally go back.

Last night I decided to take myself on a date and I fell in love and found my new favorite place! I'd been for takeout a couple of times before but never sat inside... well because Rona. But I must say, my experience was quite pleasant I was literally the only person there, so I definitely felt like a Boss all of the workers were so nice and sweet, they really made my experience worth wild. I got their Orange Chicken Bento. It came with all the deliciousness you see here. Definitely a perfect choice for me because I got to all my favorite things. From the chicken, to the egg rolls, all the way down to the sushiit was all worth it!!!! Shoutout to Ai Sushi Sake Grill. My new go to date night spot As seen on menu: Orange Chicken Bento Deep-fried crispy, tangy chicken glazed with spicy orange sauce, 4 pieces California roll, house salad with ginger dressing, chicken eggroll, rice.

    Salmon Avocado Roll

Great service, pictures below of the things we got! The creamy shrimp was our favorite

Does this look its worth $80 plus tip? Dinner for two? Crack pots!

Ordered via uber eats. Menu portions not clear. Place is a rip off! 3 pieces of low quality sushi for $16 is atrocious. Don't waste your money or time. Big disappointment! My order was 3 cokes, beef gyoza (6), California roll, sushi sampler (3 stupid pieces) and a chocolate cake for $80 plus tip. Highway robbery. These people are making money hand over fist.

Geisha Role, where are the sauces again nothing like it used to be
    Katrine H.

** I want to update my review from 1 to 3 stars. The geisha rolls flavors and freshness were amazing. The sauces were not what I've seen in the past, but it doesn't mean that the role wasn't delicious. The rest of my review is accurate. I used to love this place! I would order once or twice a month. The food always was delivered hot and fresh. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I ate in the restaurant one time and found it even better.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I am extremely disappointed tonight. The crab Rangoon was one of my favorites. I specifically had my delivery driver go out of the way from my other order to get it and this is what I got. I don't understand it looks like it came from the grocery store. The sauce came in a Whataburger ketchup package. I called to explain the situation and was even curious if it was from a different place. Unfortunately, the people I spoke with didn't speak English very well and they said that this was just how it was. It's not their fault. it's definitely the new ownership and chefs (if this is the situation). I am at a loss and extremely sad. This was one of my favorite places. All I know now is that the pictures do not equal the food I received.

Never would have guessed this place would be phenomenal. Starving after a visit to my daughters apt downtown. Searched for a place open late Sunday night. Wasn't expecting such great sushi on a whim. Hubby got the Blazing Ilume and was blown away. I ordered the Asparagus with brown rice and it was so good!

Our table was seated directly beneath an air vent that was actively dripping water. During dinner, the water repeatedly dripped onto me. After notifying the staff the first time, they simply wiped down the vent while food was being served rather than offering to reseat our party. When I brought the issue to their attention a second time, the response was the same; they wiped it down, but the dripping continued throughout the remainder of the meal. For a restaurant at this price point, I expected a more proactive solution and better attention to guest comfort. Additionally, our group ordered the Demon Slayer 300 mL sake, priced at $55. After pouring the sake, our server, Adonis, took the bottle away with him, even though we understood that the bottle was intended to remain at the table for our party. This added to the confusion and frustration surrounding the overall experience. As a first-time guest, I was looking forward to an enjoyable dining experience, but the lack of attention to these issues left me disappointed. While the food may have been enjoyable, the service and handling of these concerns fell short of expectations, particularly given the cost of dining here.

Definitely recommend if you like saucy rolls though. Curry was a bit on the more liquid side. We're a bit use to more of a thickened consistency, but it was still good. The rice and curry ratio was a little bit off, much more sauce and meat than rice for sure. I got the poke bowl with both salmon and tuna. It was really refreshing! I loved the mango in it. I went to Japan recently. I want to start there because the Japan trip is directly relevant to this…read morereview in a way that will become clear shortly and also in a way that is deeply embarrassing and I have made peace with both of those things simultaneously. Japan was extraordinary. The food was extraordinary. The trains were extraordinary. The trains specifically deserve their own paragraph because I have never in my life encountered a public transportation system that operates with the precision and quiet dignity of the Japanese rail network. Trains that arrive at the exact second they are supposed to arrive. Trains that leave at the exact second they are supposed to leave. A whole society of people moving through stations the size of small cities with calm purpose and zero visible distress, consulting their phones, reading books, buying things from vending machines that should not logically exist inside a train station but do because Japan has decided that convenience is a human right and I agree completely. I tell you all of this to explain what happened at the train station when we tried to find pizza. Now I know what you are thinking. You went to Japan and you tried to find pizza. And yes. Yes we did. We had been eating spectacular Japanese food for several days running, food that made us question every culinary decision we had made in our entire lives up to that point, and then something happened in the group dynamic that can only be explained as a collective temporary insanity and somebody said what about pizza and instead of saying no we are in Japan and there is yakitori available within forty feet of us at all times, everybody said yeah okay pizza sounds good actually. The station we were in had approximately forty seven exits. I counted. Not all of them. I counted forty seven before I gave up counting and simply accepted that exits were infinite and directional signage was a suggestion. We had been told the pizza place was near exit B14. There was no exit B14. There was a B4 and a B41 and something that might have been B14 but was labeled in a way that required a level of kanji literacy I had not developed in the forty eight hours since landing. We walked for twenty two minutes. We passed the same Family Mart three times which I know because the same employee was stocking the same shelf each time and by the third pass he looked at us with an expression of gentle recognition and what I can only describe as compassionate pity. We never found the pizza place. We found a ramen shop instead and ate the best bowl of ramen of our collective lives and agreed to never speak of the pizza incident again except that I am speaking of it right now because it is directly relevant to the fact that when I came back to Dallas and needed Japanese food that did not require navigating a forty seven exit train station, I went to Tei Tei Robata Bar on Henderson Avenue and everything was immediately right with the world. Tei Tei has been on Henderson Avenue since the late nineties. Founder Teiichi Sakurai, who is also the man behind Tei An which if you have not been to Tei An please go immediately after reading this review and before doing anything else in your life, has been a James Beard semifinalist six times which is the kind of number that should be printed somewhere more prominently than it currently is, like on a highway billboard or possibly the side of a building. You walk in through a Japanese garden to get to the entrance. A Japanese garden. In Dallas. On Henderson Avenue. Between a taco place and a bar with a patio. I walked through it after the forty seven exit train station and my blood pressure dropped twelve points immediately and I have no medical evidence for this but I am confident it is true. Robata is the traditional Northern Japanese grill style. Wood charcoal. Low heat. Slow intention. Things arrive on skewers that have been coaxed rather than forced into deliciousness. The miso sea bass is the kind of dish that people describe by going quiet for a moment first. The cornflake shrimp is a thing that should not work as a concept and works completely as a reality. The daily special comes out in three parts, raw, robata, and more, and each part is a small argument for why you should be paying better attention to what you eat every day of your life. The sashimi sits in a case on ice near the kitchen and you can watch the chefs working with a calm precision that is genuinely meditative to observe, like a train system that runs on the exact second it is supposed to run, quiet and intentional and doing exactly what it is supposed to do without any drama about it. I sat at the sushi bar and ate things I will not fully describe because some experiences should be discovered and not spoiled. I thought about the ramen we found instead of the pizza we were looking for and decided that getting lost is sometimes the whole point.

The inside is tiny and there isn't even a proper "waiting" area. I've also tried coming here before, and there was also a long wait. I'm glad I decided to stick it out this time. We ordered the Wagyu sushi, Yakitori, Tonkotsu Miso Ramen, and the Tomato Ramen. The Wagyu sushi is torched right in front of you! The Wagyu was incredibly tender and the sauce was delicious. My only *nitpicky* critique is the rice was ever so slightly too moist, but that didn't stop me from inhaling the sushi. Next, the Yakitori was phenomenal. I've never had such tender chicken in my life. There was a nice layer of delicious sauce coating the skewer. Again, just a really nitpicky feedback I have was that I wish the Yakitori had the tiniest bit more char to it, but nevertheless was an incredible bite, and I'd 100% order again in a heartbeat. Onto the ramen - easily hands down one of the best ramen I've had in DFW. The broth is flavorful, and I love the noodles. I'm not sure if they're handmade from scratch, but they had the perfect thickness and chewiness. I also loved generous the portion of cha shu slices. Most other places only give you 1-2 thin slices, but that was not the case here. The pork was tender. The ajitama was solid too, although I prefer more of a soft-boiled egg. While the meat portion is more generous here, the tonkotsu didn't come with many vegetables. A lot of other ramen places I've been to will have corn, fried garlic, etc as default, but those are all additional cost add-ons here. The ramen was delicious without them though but just something to note. We also got the tomato ramen as it's the chef recommendation. The dish is very creative and the execution was great. Personally, I still prefer traditional ramens but it was certainly a nice culinary creation to try. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place and would come here again. Just be aware there may be a wait, and because they're so busy, you do have to proactively flag down staff. However, the staff are still really nice despite all the tasks they're juggling at once.

Instead of the omakase, we opted to order dishes we knew we would like. The shrimp tempura is large, you only need one piece per person. The Negitoro was my absolute favorite as always. The soba dipping sampler is new to me, I've only ever had the traditional sauce. I loved each sauce and highly recommend! The chicken katsu and A5 Wagyu were perfectly prepared and very tender. My only gripe is the nigiri were not the freshest. I would totally return.

We wish we haven't ordered two of those in the same order. We felt very heavy after eating. And also, we felt like both dishes did not highlight the soba well. The premium sashimi set was just as amazing but we prefer to order all sashimi separately next time as what we have done in our previous visit. We liked what we order during our first visit, so we wanted to try something different this time. However, after this experience, we would still come back again but we will stick with the basics. Shout out to Ace for his excellent service and all the other staff as always :)

Their booths are designed to be somewhat cozy as we all crammed into a booth more comfortably suited for 4 patrons, rather than the 6 adults in our group. We primarily decided to order individually, however we did share some of their small plates. I started things off with their Perfect Summer(non-alcoholic) drink, which contained Green team, yuzu, and watermelon juice). Highly recommended if it's not a seasonal offering only. The standout dishes for me were their Octopus, Hamachi, Cod and their Korean Fried Chicken. Our waiter was energetic and did a great job ushering us through our meal. A fun place to be any night of the week.

The quality of the meat really stands out, especially the wagyu and specialty cuts. Everything is fresh, well-marinated, and grills beautifully at the table. You cook your own food yakiniku-style, which makes the meal fun and interactive without feeling overwhelming. Service was excellent -- attentive, knowledgeable, and happy to explain the menu or help with the grill. The staff checked in at just the right moments and made the whole experience feel smooth and relaxed. The sides and appetizers were solid (garlic noodles are a must), and the drink options pair nicely with the meal. Prices are on the higher side, but the quality, atmosphere, and experience make it worth it. If you're looking for authentic Japanese BBQ with great vibes and premium ingredients, Manpuku is absolutely worth a visit. I'll definitely be back.

Overall, Manpuku was... fine. Not bad, but not particularly memorable, and definitely not compelling enough at this price point to justify a return. From a food standpoint, the proteins and sauces were the strongest part of the meal. The cuts themselves were flavorful, and some of the marinades/sauces brought the kind of richness and salt balance you'd hope for at a Japanese BBQ spot. That said, the supporting cast (especially the vegetables) felt like an afterthought. For a place charging at this level, I was expecting more intention and better overall balance across the table. Drinks were serviceable but uninspired. I kept it simple with sake and Japanese beer, while others in the group ordered martinis that were perfectly drinkable, if not especially polished or memorable. Where the experience really started to fall apart was service and overall floor management. With the restaurant being so lightly occupied, there really wasn't much excuse for how inattentive things felt throughout the night. The pacing and presence just weren't there. What ultimately took the experience from "underwhelming" to actively off-putting, though, was the fact that multiple street vendors were allowed to come into the restaurant and approach tables selling flowers and candy. It happened enough to become a real distraction, and it was especially jarring to watch staff and management seemingly do nothing while guests were being interrupted mid-meal. One table eventually had to tell them directly to stop bothering them, which should never be the diners' responsibility to handle. There are too many places in Dallas competing in this price tier to overlook that kind of lapse in hospitality. Manpuku wasn't a disaster, but it also didn't deliver on the level of polish, attention, or overall dining experience its pricing suggests. Wouldn't say I regret trying it BUT I also wouldn't be in any rush to come back.
