Great food! We loved all of our choices! The biggest surprise was the carbonara noodles.

Had a great time at Norman's the other night! A very unique TX-Japanese vibe with the decor, excellent service, and delicious food! Special shoutout to Chef Ben for stopping by to chat with us! Must try items: Otoro w/Fois Gras (sushi), Rockfish (sushi - special item), Oh' Godzilla (handroll), Miso Cod (handroll), Curry Katsu, Escabeche (special item - DO NOT MISS), all the Noodles, Japanese Cheesecake, and Ube Ice Cream!

The service at the bar top was very much you feeling like the only one in the room. It was so great. The vibes in there were swanky, elevated and comfortable. The food? Yeah I'll be back. The hand rolls. Just wow. The lobster hand roll was my favorite. I also got to try to Miso Cod with caviar that was also delightful. Next time for the shrimp tempura I'll ask for no bbq sauce. Even though it wasn't a lot, it kind of took over. The star for me was the snow crab nigiri. I can't wait to go back and order other things! Thank you Norman's for a fantastic experience including Jose at the bar!

Kept seeing this place on TikTok, so I had to try it wit a friend who came into town from Houston. It was busy, so we sat at the bar. Our bartender, Mark (I think was his name), was so sweet, knowledgeable, and he was so easy to talk to. Got the Snowblood Spritz. The sake was forward, but very refreshing with the shiso leaf. We had the Miso Cod first which gave us a great start; it was extremely butterfly and savory. After, we tried the Oh Godzilla had uni on top which was super oceany flavored which overpowered the bluefin taretare and caviar. After, we tried the Udon Carbonara. It was good and creamy, but it wasn't anything special-it felt like a standard pasta. We tried a Pork Belly skewer which was very fatty for our liking, but if you like fatty Pork Belly, it's definitely for you. We then finished off with the Duck & Kurabota Pork Skewers which was incredible! The hot Japanese mustard paired very well with the skewers! Overall, the best things we had were the Miso Cod handroll and Duck & Kurabota Pork Skewers. Definitely recommend. My friend and I thought the food was okay, but the service was exceptional. I think it was the best service I've ever had because it was a great balance professional, but also personal as well! Ambiance was great as well, very beautiful. Service definitely carried!

This place is AMAZING!! It is now one of my favorite restaurant in DFW. There's a variety of Japanese dishes to choose from. Every individual dish has a unique flavors and special garnishes. The New Zealand salmon is the best salmon dish I've ever had. Cooked to perfection and I love the bed of charred bok choy. Some of the crudo dishes had an interesting pop of sourness that came from fingerling limes that I really enjoy. I also like the interactive way of eating the hand rolls where the seaweed sheets are given separately and we pick up the rolls ourselves, leaving the seaweed crunchy with each bite. My only complaint would probably be the apple cobbler. They puréed the apple and it was very salty. It would have been better if it was bits or chunks of apple. Last but not least our waitress Tiffany was awesome. She's super sweet and everything she recommended was delicious. She put some thought into arranged our dishes to come in certain order from light to heavier. The complimentary valet is a nice touch because there's really no parking there.

concepts like this make me cry because i love cpg and hospitality so much the manager was so chatty and sweet and gave us free ube ice cream that was incredibly impressive. corn ravioli is quite possibly top 3 things that have entered my mouth. otoro sashimi soooo fatty and the octopus perfect soft (8/8 tentacle rating according to jake shane pussy score) they did such a great job incorporating western and japanese influences while keeping the charm of both

This place immediately landed in my top three restaurants in Dallas. Everything from the food to the atmosphere hit. The vibe is casual but elevated, which is exactly my sweet spot. I love an open kitchen, and next time I'm absolutely sitting closer to it. It adds so much energy to the room without feeling chaotic. Service was excellent. Huge shoutout to Julia, who was incredibly knowledgeable and helped guide the experience in a way that felt natural and thoughtful, not scripted. Every dish was genuinely good. Ranking them from favorite to least favorite, though I would order every single one again without hesitation: Best hamachi nigiri Shrimp skewers Grilled asparagus Apple crumble cobbler Meatballs Dumplings Snow crab nigiri Octopus skewers, only last because they weren't as crispy as I personally prefer, but still flavorful and well done Overall, Norman's Western delivers across the board. Strong execution, confident flavors, and a space that feels intentional without trying too hard. Easily a repeat spot and one I'll be recommending a lot.

Reservations - I saw they had a link on Resy, but that seems to only show limited time slots (for early or late dinners), so I called and left a voicemail for the day we wanted to go and got a text confirmation later. I would recommend doing the same! There is valet parking at the restaurant. Our waitress and the servers were all very nice and helped with recommendations if we asked! Food - I got the Snowball Spritz to drink, shared the Curry Katsu small plate, Corn & Miso Ravioli, Charred Octopus skewers, and then shared the Ube Ice cream & Japanese cheesecake desserts. Everything was yummy, but my favorites were the Corn & Miso Ravioli and Charred Octopus skewers. I will make plans to come back just for those - the blend of sweet corn & savory brown butter complimented the ravioli, and the char on the octopus was perfect! Overall - The vibes are fun and it's a great dining experience. Norman's would be great for a friends dinner, date night, or small work group - it was quiet enough for easy conversation but still a lively atmosphere. The menu has something for everyone, or they even have 2 offerings of pre-set meals if you aren't sure where to start.

Dallas food scene does not disappoint. Banger after banger! Norman's was such a vibe in every way. décor/ambiance, staff, crowd, music, dish ware (about to order a set of these from replacements), food, valet. I enjoyed everything about it. Super chill spot. I love looking around a place and feeling like yep, this feels really good! Service was outstanding at every turn, from booking to table side and valet. Our food was delish. Everything is pretty much family style besides the hand rolls but I even had a bite of my besties. This proves to me how much I enjoyed the food because I typically would not eat off of anything he's put his mouth on and that went out the window when it came to his hand roll selection. I had an old fashioned. Their whiskey menu is top tier, quickly glancing over to spot all my favs. We ordered a shrimp tempura and Miso cod hand roll. I'm loving the way I can count on all my dining establishments to offer bumps of caviar atop menu items. Seriously understanding the assignment around here. The edamame hummus, curry katsu, corn and miso ravioli, and duck & pork robusta skewers were all quite tasty! If I had room for a couple other dishes, I would have tried the udon carbonara and shrimp & sausage dumplings. This is such a fun spot. If you're going out with girlfriends, on a date or with the fam- Norman's will not disappoint. I look forward to returning in the future for more menu items, I don't think you can go wrong with any choice here. In closing, Norman's has match books- we came up with a theory not too long along. If you have matchbooks you're probably a 5 star joint. If you're a 5 star joint but don't have match books, I probably shouldn't give you 5 stars because match books exemplify 5 star behavior ;)

Was honestly so disappointed. Went on priority list for weeks to get a reservation to this place. Finally got one and it dissapointing is what it was. I got the wasabi mezcal drink and I was skeptical cause I don't love mezcal snd it's premade- they said it didn't taste like mezcal and they would Replace if we didn't like. It is very much strong mezcal and they never came back and checked. We got some handrolls- none were worth the price. Underwhelming in flavor. The corn ravioli was the best thing we ate but no one warned us it was so sweet and they should have told us or served it last. Beans were good but overpriced. Carbonara was their most popular item And it was flavorless, just salty. Biggest disappointment outside of handrolls. Overall the vibes are neat but the food is very underwhelming.

This is now my second time visiting Norman's, and it's a gorgeous space with decent food. (3.5/5 overall) Atmosphere (5/5): Gorgeous space and restaurant for date night or catch up with friends. Not so great for larger parties as the areas inside and outside mostly have seating for 2-4 people or there are 3 bar areas you can grab dinner or drinks at (chefs table, bar and then outdoor). The outdoor area has seating and heaters / fans during winter or summer. There's complimentary valet parking in the lot outside and it's quite small off a main road, so definitely have to valet. Service: (4/5) service is amazing as always in the Duro Hospitality Group. They are accommodating and listen to your needs. I will say the second time I went it was a Saturday and quite busy; service was not as great as we waited for 30 min to get someone's attention at the bar just to order drinks as we were waiting for our table to be ready. Food: (3/5) was not blown away by the food. Overall it was way too salty the second time we visited, almost inedible. The servers were great and made up for it by giving us another dish, but I left disappointed as the first time I went it was better. Expect Americanized Japanese food, which is totally fine as that's the theme of the restaurant. However way too salty. The hand rolls are small and bite sized and come deconstructed, my favorite being the lobster or the tuna uni. The miso ravioli was decent and milder in flavor which I liked, the uni carbonara was good but nothing special. I did enjoy all the drinks and the dessert! Overall would still come back for the good vibes and drinks and a few apps, but wouldn't be my go to always.

Norman's Japanese Grill is out of this world. I honestly wish I could give this place six stars. Everything they put in front of us was fantastic, and we didn't have a single miss all night. The whole menu has this authentic feel, and they really nail the Texas-Japanese fusion they're going for--it works incredibly well. The decor even took me back to my trip to Japan, but with these really cool Texas elements blended in. It's such a unique vibe, and they pull it off perfectly. The udon carbonara absolutely lived up to the hype--everyone at the table loved it, and it's a must-order. The corn miso ravioli was so good it had me wanting to lick the plate. We also tried the Korean fried chicken, the chicken skewers, the dumplings, and some sushi. Every single dish was a hit. I think I've officially found my new favorite spot to eat in Dallas. We'll definitely be back, and hopefully soon. If I had to point out one small area for improvement, the outdoor seating could use better shade. The sun was right in my eyes until it went down. They have some curtains, but they don't fully block the setting sun. Other than that, this place crushed it. Highly, highly recommend.

    Hannah R.

I had such a nice time here that it now makes so much sense about why it was so difficult to get a reservation! Our server, Alexandra (I believe), was so kind and knowledgeable about the whole menu. She helped us decide between things and gave great recommendations. Our favorite was surprisingly the duck meatballs followed very closely by the udon carbonara. I you're a matchbook collector, they have them here!

I went to Japan recently. I want to start there because the Japan trip is directly relevant to this…read morereview in a way that will become clear shortly and also in a way that is deeply embarrassing and I have made peace with both of those things simultaneously. Japan was extraordinary. The food was extraordinary. The trains were extraordinary. The trains specifically deserve their own paragraph because I have never in my life encountered a public transportation system that operates with the precision and quiet dignity of the Japanese rail network. Trains that arrive at the exact second they are supposed to arrive. Trains that leave at the exact second they are supposed to leave. A whole society of people moving through stations the size of small cities with calm purpose and zero visible distress, consulting their phones, reading books, buying things from vending machines that should not logically exist inside a train station but do because Japan has decided that convenience is a human right and I agree completely. I tell you all of this to explain what happened at the train station when we tried to find pizza. Now I know what you are thinking. You went to Japan and you tried to find pizza. And yes. Yes we did. We had been eating spectacular Japanese food for several days running, food that made us question every culinary decision we had made in our entire lives up to that point, and then something happened in the group dynamic that can only be explained as a collective temporary insanity and somebody said what about pizza and instead of saying no we are in Japan and there is yakitori available within forty feet of us at all times, everybody said yeah okay pizza sounds good actually. The station we were in had approximately forty seven exits. I counted. Not all of them. I counted forty seven before I gave up counting and simply accepted that exits were infinite and directional signage was a suggestion. We had been told the pizza place was near exit B14. There was no exit B14. There was a B4 and a B41 and something that might have been B14 but was labeled in a way that required a level of kanji literacy I had not developed in the forty eight hours since landing. We walked for twenty two minutes. We passed the same Family Mart three times which I know because the same employee was stocking the same shelf each time and by the third pass he looked at us with an expression of gentle recognition and what I can only describe as compassionate pity. We never found the pizza place. We found a ramen shop instead and ate the best bowl of ramen of our collective lives and agreed to never speak of the pizza incident again except that I am speaking of it right now because it is directly relevant to the fact that when I came back to Dallas and needed Japanese food that did not require navigating a forty seven exit train station, I went to Tei Tei Robata Bar on Henderson Avenue and everything was immediately right with the world. Tei Tei has been on Henderson Avenue since the late nineties. Founder Teiichi Sakurai, who is also the man behind Tei An which if you have not been to Tei An please go immediately after reading this review and before doing anything else in your life, has been a James Beard semifinalist six times which is the kind of number that should be printed somewhere more prominently than it currently is, like on a highway billboard or possibly the side of a building. You walk in through a Japanese garden to get to the entrance. A Japanese garden. In Dallas. On Henderson Avenue. Between a taco place and a bar with a patio. I walked through it after the forty seven exit train station and my blood pressure dropped twelve points immediately and I have no medical evidence for this but I am confident it is true. Robata is the traditional Northern Japanese grill style. Wood charcoal. Low heat. Slow intention. Things arrive on skewers that have been coaxed rather than forced into deliciousness. The miso sea bass is the kind of dish that people describe by going quiet for a moment first. The cornflake shrimp is a thing that should not work as a concept and works completely as a reality. The daily special comes out in three parts, raw, robata, and more, and each part is a small argument for why you should be paying better attention to what you eat every day of your life. The sashimi sits in a case on ice near the kitchen and you can watch the chefs working with a calm precision that is genuinely meditative to observe, like a train system that runs on the exact second it is supposed to run, quiet and intentional and doing exactly what it is supposed to do without any drama about it. I sat at the sushi bar and ate things I will not fully describe because some experiences should be discovered and not spoiled. I thought about the ramen we found instead of the pizza we were looking for and decided that getting lost is sometimes the whole point.

The inside is tiny and there isn't even a proper "waiting" area. I've also tried coming here before, and there was also a long wait. I'm glad I decided to stick it out this time. We ordered the Wagyu sushi, Yakitori, Tonkotsu Miso Ramen, and the Tomato Ramen. The Wagyu sushi is torched right in front of you! The Wagyu was incredibly tender and the sauce was delicious. My only *nitpicky* critique is the rice was ever so slightly too moist, but that didn't stop me from inhaling the sushi. Next, the Yakitori was phenomenal. I've never had such tender chicken in my life. There was a nice layer of delicious sauce coating the skewer. Again, just a really nitpicky feedback I have was that I wish the Yakitori had the tiniest bit more char to it, but nevertheless was an incredible bite, and I'd 100% order again in a heartbeat. Onto the ramen - easily hands down one of the best ramen I've had in DFW. The broth is flavorful, and I love the noodles. I'm not sure if they're handmade from scratch, but they had the perfect thickness and chewiness. I also loved generous the portion of cha shu slices. Most other places only give you 1-2 thin slices, but that was not the case here. The pork was tender. The ajitama was solid too, although I prefer more of a soft-boiled egg. While the meat portion is more generous here, the tonkotsu didn't come with many vegetables. A lot of other ramen places I've been to will have corn, fried garlic, etc as default, but those are all additional cost add-ons here. The ramen was delicious without them though but just something to note. We also got the tomato ramen as it's the chef recommendation. The dish is very creative and the execution was great. Personally, I still prefer traditional ramens but it was certainly a nice culinary creation to try. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place and would come here again. Just be aware there may be a wait, and because they're so busy, you do have to proactively flag down staff. However, the staff are still really nice despite all the tasks they're juggling at once.

I was the only person in my group that was gluten-free and the staff were so on top of it! Every single dish they brought out, they explained which had gluten in which did not. I will say the top two gluten-free dishes that stood out were the oysters with some sort of strawberry pickled sauce and the yellowtail sashimi with gluten free Ponzo sauce and tangerine!

I dined here on June 5, 2026, with a party of eight for a 4:00 PM reservation, and unfortunately,…read morethe experience was disappointing, especially considering the premium prices. Our table was seated directly beneath an air vent that was actively dripping water. During dinner, the water repeatedly dripped onto me. After notifying the staff the first time, they simply wiped down the vent while food was being served rather than offering to reseat our party. When I brought the issue to their attention a second time, the response was the same; they wiped it down, but the dripping continued throughout the remainder of the meal. For a restaurant at this price point, I expected a more proactive solution and better attention to guest comfort. Additionally, our group ordered the Demon Slayer 300 mL sake, priced at $55. After pouring the sake, our server, Adonis, took the bottle away with him, even though we understood that the bottle was intended to remain at the table for our party. This added to the confusion and frustration surrounding the overall experience. As a first-time guest, I was looking forward to an enjoyable dining experience, but the lack of attention to these issues left me disappointed. While the food may have been enjoyable, the service and handling of these concerns fell short of expectations, particularly given the cost of dining here.

The panic roll wasn't our favorite, we could've definitely passed on that. We wanted something unique rather than a basic roll, so we chose this because it seemed fun plus we love spice! However, the roll just tasted like sauce. Not much going on. I personally like being able to taste the quality of the fish, but the sauce was a too much. Definitely recommend if you like saucy rolls though. Curry was a bit on the more liquid side. We're a bit use to more of a thickened consistency, but it was still good. The rice and curry ratio was a little bit off, much more sauce and meat than rice for sure. I got the poke bowl with both salmon and tuna. It was really refreshing! I loved the mango in it. Overall, a solid sushi restaurant. Definitely recommend the sashimi! Service was good, definitely took care of you. Ambiance was also nice. It was small, but bright especially with the patio seating. The bar looked nice too. It's a good place to grab a refreshing bite!
