My first time at this place, and I was impressed with the sushi! The fish was fresh, and all the rolls were decently priced. The food was great, but the service... not so much. Some rolls I tried: G string roll: 5/5, interesting name LOL! But the roll was fantastic! The crispy onions on top added a nice crunch, and the albacore, salmon, and spicy tuna were a great combination. Love the sauce on top too. Exxtra crispy roll: 5/5, favorite roll here! It is on their Lucky 7 menu (meaning each roll on there is $7), and this was an amazing roll! The crabmeat and spicy tuna were so yummy paired with the cream cheese. The entire roll was deep fried in a panko breading...YUM. Also the sauces added a nice kick too. Best roll! (especially for the price). Superman: 3.5/5, this is a Yelp favorite, but I was not too happy. Loved the deep fried sushi pieces on the end, but I was not a huge fan of the fish inside and the flavor combination. Good roll, just not the best. Service: 2/5, Our server, Michael, was non-existent. He came to take our order and pick up our card. I couldn't even find him in the restaurant, and after waiting for a long time for the check, I finally had to ask another server to bring our check. Sky sushi is located in a pretty empty plaza, but looks aren't always what they seem. At least they don't have a problem with parking. My boyfriend and I came to sushi restaurant because it was nearby. Unfortunately due to an emergency, they were closed for two weeks. I came back early this week and they were open, so I gave sky sushi a try. Their sushi is fresh and delicious! A must have is the salmon belly nigiri. It is torched and I craved more as Soon as I walked out the door. It was fresh and melted in your mouth! I also ordered the scallop maniac roll, another amazing roll. Scallops were super fresh as well. Customer service was excellent. They were very attentive and provided great service. I will be coming back or taking out. Came in today about 2:30pm. There were a few tables taken. The server said Hi as I walked in and was reading specials board. I mentioned I would like a to go order and be happily gave me a menu to review. I like sushi but don't know what some of the ingredient combinations are so I look at the pictures and decided what looks good. The server came by asked if I was ready and took my order and offer me some water while I waited. Very friendly guy. About 10 mins later my meal was ready and I was on my way. Perfect prep time as I am on a limited lunch break. I just couldn't wait until I got all the way home this box smelled too good sitting next to me. I have to take a bite of each roll before going home. I didn't know the Lion King roll was a cooked warm roll. I tried it and it was pretty good. Not my favorite as I am not one for the warm sushi. My next roll was the Superman roll. The end rolls had a huge piece of deep fried shrimp in the roll. Yum. Yes this has a deep fried shrimp but the entire roll wasn't warm as the other one. I really liked the flavors this roll had in it. And would definitely stop by to purchase this roll again. Overall, Sky Sushi was good, good flavor combinations and the roll size was perfect. For the 2rolls it was about $21. The do offer some half price rolls on their menu. Next time I will dine in so I can take advantage of their lunch or dinner specials. For lunch they offer for $10.50 2 half rolls from shown sushi on lunch special menu, miso soup and salad so I can try a few different rolls. read more

TLDR: Save your money, go elsewhere or learn to roll your own (its not hard!) I think they changed their name from Sky Sushi to try and dodge/delete the honest bad reviews. Service: We tried this place on a random afternoon figuring it would be slow and we would get better service. We were wrong. Despite being one of the only customers there, our waiter just disappeared for a long break, and never actually checked on us (we were seated very close to the kitchen too). We ordered 2 rolls, 1 each. When our order came out the server handed us each others' rolls. Not a big deal, but shows he's not paying attention. We even said the order back to him to confirm what roll was what before he handed us them, and he didn't catch on. Ambiance: The sushi bar doesn't have barstools, they used the same seats the short tables have. So if you try to sit there like a normal person (I'm 5'7") the bar surface is up to your shoulders. If you're sitting while you read this, lift your keyboard 1 foot up and pretend that's the bar. We tried to sit here first, then realized how stupid it would be to try and relax or eat like this. No idea why they can't just get some barstools that fit? Crazy. So we moved to a sticky booth that still had water all over the top. Ok, got us again, lets move to the next booth. This one was dry-ish. Decor is basic, lighting is too dark. Food: The reason we're spending money here. We got a tempura appetizer, $18, but the portion was pretty huge (even though the shrimp was not, come on you can get an 8 pack of tempura shrimp at the restaurant supply for like $4) and it was good, fresh fried. The sushi? Terrible. I should have taken pics. First, the roll selection is pretty much all the same combination of of stuff (but with all those cringey Sky Sushi names). We picked a few and what came out was rolled with dry old rice, not sticky sushi rice. The fish itself was barely there, just the thinnest saddest little cuts. stack 2 nickels together, that's how thin it was. And generally bad sushi places will at least drown their rolls in sauces to cover it up, but they didn't even do that. All the beer and sake in the world can't make it taste better. We always get the deep fried gyoza. The 911. The albacore apetizer and miso soups then i get the chicken twriyaki dinner. This has been our dish to go to. Sometimes ill mix a Kirin with my dinner, wife usually has tea.. The menu appears to have changed dramatically. Again. This is not based on a 1 time visit. We come on average once a month. Dominique, i dont think she works there any longer was super nice. But the other ladies and fellas and the sushi bar staff is always nice. We noticed the rice on our rolls doesnt stick like it used to, we started noticing this about a month ago. Went back last week and same thing happened. The menu has changed. The gyoza though deep friend is not the same. The tempura no longer has the same veggies now it has mushrooms i believe and maybe some sort of squash or sweet potato (it wasnt zuchinni). The chicken is now served a bit different and it looks very nice presentation wise in a nicer bowl but for me, i like the old style Respectfully Me Owner. I love this place. It beats any other sushi place including Mikuni's. The best thing is they do not overwhelm the roll with too thick rice and the combinations of rolls and the names are so tasty and fun. The service is awesome. Covid really did a number on staffing but the servers that are here are so quick and nice. My favorite roll is the Mountain Hight (deep fried roll) and the Lap-dance which is a roll with no rice. I came here when I was a little girl and remembered the funny names so I wanted to take my best friends there for some giggles. The service wasn't all that great but I try my best to be considerate when it's clear they're short staff. One pretty lady was serving almost all the tables in the restaurant when we got there. We weren't really seated or greeted right away, just stood there kinda awkwardly for a few minutes but they had bigger fish to fry so it's okay. Alright food! So the spicy calamari was delicious, definitely a must try. A lot of sushi places don't do calamari right or sell prepackage versions but this definitely hit the spot, I loved it. As for their sushi, presentation was spectacular and I obviously love the menu's personality, but the rolls were a bit heavy and little too fishy for my liking. It's sushi duh it's supposed to be fishy but I'm saying like it didn't taste as fresh as some other places I've tried. I'm big on citrusy flavors too with sushi, their lemon rolls weren't great, you could barely taste the lemon. On the contrary, I do believe that restaurants taste better at different times and days because ultimately, it's the tiny details left to the responsibility of the chefs. My girlfriends took me here to celebrate my birthday. It was near my friends house, so we decided to check it out. The place is a pretty dimly lit restaurant. Even at 5 PM in springtime, it seemed a bit dark. Almost all the rolls are some X-rated sounding name. I don't hate it, but I don't love it. I'd say some of the rolls are pretty different, since it had stuff like cilantro in it. We ordered the Fresh Prince, which had cilantro in it. You could barely taste it. It was an ok roll, nothing to write home about. I really enoyed the Screaming Orgasm, which is albacore with sauce on top of daikon. I think it was supposed to be seared, but it didn't taste like it. The Girl Next Door was also good, had a small kick to it. We also order some of their sake mixed drinks. Mine was some version of a Tokyo tea and it was really sour. The sky's the limit at Sky Sushi...! We decided last minute to have Sunday dinner here in Rancho Cordova. I didn't have very high expectations for sushi in a older strip mall in the Cho, but I was pleasantly surprised. We walked in around 6pm , there were only a handful of patrons at the time . We had a choice to sit a booth or a table . We choose to seat a table because it has more room and light. We were given menus and water right away. The menu was extensive. We took our time to go over our options , but I read that the garlic edamame was really good here so we put in a order for those while we looked over the menu . After we decided on our picks we finalized our order with the server and waited for our food. The edamame came out within a few minutes , and we happily ate them while waiting for the rest of our order. The garlic edamame was pretty flavorful, but I wanna say I've had better prepared garlic edamame, and I felt like it was a bit pricy here. We waited another 25 minutes or so before the rest of our food arrived...I was on the verge of being "hangry" at that point. Thankfully everything was really good. The standouts were certainly the nigiri combo and the scallop roll. The nigiri combo was very fresh and was seasoned well. Each bite had a unique flavor. The scallop roll was also memorable and prepared well. The other rolls we ordered were also good , but not really standouts. Their prices here are very reasonable. The nigiri combo is really a fantastic deal in my opinion. Overall it was a positive first experience . I would look forward to coming back again. Service was friendly enough. I think my biggest issue here was the kind of long wait before getting order, but it wasn't a deal breaker by any means . They make good sushi here. read more

Posted some pictures on social media and right away had people asking where I went for dinner! Our party of 4 split 8 rolls and we left feeling stuffed and so very happy. We ordered 4 rolls: lemon crispy, irresistible, arigato, and whose your daddy. We let our chef, Alan, handle the rest. He picked 4 more rolls: scallop maniac, lemon drop, and two others I forgot the name of (woops). We loved EVERY single roll we ate! I love how each roll doesn't use the same exact sauces or garnishes. Cilantro here, garlic chips there. Each roll felt very unique and you could definitely taste the care and creativity that went into making them. Another plus is that the prices are extremely affordable! Late lunch/early dinner was zen! I'm impressed with the food and service. The edamame was a great starter coupled with hot organic green tea. The food portion is huge. The salmon was very yummy. You get two choices from the 4 listed sides. I chose Cali roll and mixed tempura. It came with the miso soup and salad. It was a satisfying plate. I love that they were nicely presented on a extra large square plate. The shrimp tempura if they could dance was ooh la la. Crispy and nice portion as well. We would come again to try other items in the menu. Go here mid week. Catch up with loved ones and/or friends over calm atmosphere and good food. Grab a Baskin-Robbins after if you like a ice/cream (who doesn't), or if you still hungry the Indian restaurant a few doors down is a savory and spicy choice to take home. We entered to find a calm atmosphere with a greeting when you walk in. Menu is on a QR code and is laid out in an easy to navigate way, with clear explanations of the items or pieces included. Our waitress was Dominique and she is lovely! Super helpful, funny, and made for a fun evening. We ordered the deep fried spicy tuna as an appetizer, which was something we had never seen before. Spicy, warm, sweet, it was delicious. For dinner we had a nigiri platter and a Who's You Mama roll. The nigiri is fresh and delicious, and not just the standard "tuna and salmon" variety. The roll had balsamic, which I had never seen on a roll, but it was a pleasant surprise and delicious as well. He recommended their Garlic Edamame appetizer, it was the best edamame I've ever had! After we finished our appetizer, our server recommended saving the extra sauce leftover to dip our rolls, yum! G-String~ This first roll was covered with a very generous layer of carrot strings, which gave it a nice crunch and the fish taste fresh! Lemon Crispy~ The second roll was sweet and creamy like lemon meringue, with a nice crunch, a layer of cream cheese and a very pronounced lemon flavor throughout! Scallop Maniac~ The third roll was topped with a fresh sea scallop and covered with a nice tangy sauce! Hawaiian~ The last roll was topped with spicy tuna and a nice flavorful sauce! I would definitely recommend this location, they're open for dine-in with limited seating available and have some of the best sushi I've had in a while! We live close by but never been here until recently. We ordered 5 rolls, a sashimi set, and pepperfin. Everything was really good. We loved all the rolls we ordered. I randomly came across a 7 rolls for $7 each menu somewhere but didn't see it on their website menu. I asked if they were still running that special and they said they could still make it. The rolls we ordered of that menu were teenage fever, sky high, and jalapeno face. We also got their lemon drop and fresh prince rolls. Service was great... from phone order to pick up. My fiancé picked up the order and noted how nice and helpful the waitor was about grabbing us some extra ginger and wasabi. My only criticism is that the sashimi cuts that came in the set are small. Not sure if this is how they usually cut their sashimi, but it was strange to me bc their albacore they used in their pepperfin dish was cut large. The sashimi was presented beautifully in the togo box with watermelon radish, so I can only imagine how good it would look in person. I would like to note though that the sashimi did taste fresh and delicious! We will come back to try some more things again sometime soon. read more

I had high hopes after reading the reviews from this location, but our server gave us a highly unenjoyable experience. We arrived at 5:30pm and were able to get seated promptly. Most of the tables were empty. It wasn't until 15 minutes later when our server with the pink hair arrived with water. She took our order of 3 rolls and then there was the wait. 30 minutes in, I noticed another table that was seated many minutes after us received their rolls first. That's when we asked another server when our food was coming out and she checked on our order for us. We ended up not receiving our food until 6:35-6:40 (over an hour since we sat down). Frustrated was an understatement. I don't know if our order was placed at the end or if she forgot to submit it, but I cannot believe we waited almost an entire hour for 3 rolls. When we received our rolls, we just wanted to finish and get out. Once we were ready for the check, we had to flag down our server again. We also had to ask another server for help and she went to remind our server of the check. Additional minutes pass and the other server (not ours) came back and noticed our check still hasn't come yet, so took our card to give to the server to pay the check. We are pretty patient people, especially at restaurants, but it didn't make sense how long the server took to do everything. We are thankful for the other server for helping us out, otherwise we might have been waiting there for an additional 30 minutes. read more

Just got a to go order last night for my family. Ordered a chirashi, an unagi don, and a katsu plate. The unagi and the chirashi were really nice, but my combo plate was a mess. Did not get any wasabi for my California rolls and the chicken katsu was covered with some kind of weird sauce. I've eaten tonkatsu and chicken katsu in more places than I care to mention. Over the years have had it several times in Tokyo and Kobe Japan as well as Hawaii where they tend to do a good job with it. My katsu had some kind of weird sweet white sauce on it. Tonkatsu sauce is not supposed to have that flavor at all, so I'm not sure if that was a mistake, but it really threw me off. I guess next time I need to ask for sauce on the side, but that is VERY non-traditional and did not taste good at all. read more
