Came for another visit, had the uni shooter. You definitely get value with it. However I think the presentation could be improved. The well is too deep for a fair distribution of flavor and you're drinking quite a bit of the mixture in multiple mouthfuls of the liquid before being able to reach the uni pieces that would balance out the salty spicy umami of the shooter components. Maybe serving the uni in a flight of several smaller shooters. Partner said California rolls were off BUT he adores their hand rolls and thinks they're the best we've had. Beautiful roll was rich and interesting, but probably won't get it again?? For me, the saba sashimi is the best I've had after 4 sushi restaurants. We were in the area & decided to go to Sky Sushi for lunch due to high rating on yelp. I must say that I agree with the high rating. We were seated immediately in the booth when we arrived. Maggie, our server, immediately greeted us & gave water cup to my kid. She also gave crayons & coloring page to keep my kid occupied. The coolest thing was the chopstick helper that she gave to my kid. My kid uses kids' chopsticks at home & was super excited to try using real chopsticks with the helper. We ordered Salmon bento with gyoza & spicy tuna roll, chicken bowl & California roll. It took about 15 minutes for the food to arrive. The portion for bento & bowl were generous! My husband had the chicken bowl and he said that it was delicious. He was super stuffed at the end of the meal. I had the Salmon bowl and it was good. The salmon was cooked perfectly. The gyoza pieces were on the smaller size but they were crispy & delicious. The spicy tuna was good too! I love the sauce on the salad - I guess it was some kind of sweet sesame sauce. The salad portion was pretty generous that I couldn't even finish my rice because I was full. My kid had the California roll and loved it too. I'm also not a fan of sesame seeds and they were everywhere on all the rolls. Food: delicious with flavorful! Review is solely based on the sushi rolls. 1. Yum yum deluxe roll and play boy roll. Creamy delicious and the fish tasted fresh. 2.) gyoza (pan seared always)- the right sear and cooked perfectly. 3.) mixed tempura- it was good, but not all the pieces of food were cooked all the way through. 4.) miso soup- umami SERVICE: Service was okay. Came with family of 4 on a busy Sunday night after wait for nearby Gangnam Korean BBQ was too long. Small waiting area. Waitress cleaned the table with bleach wipe and took a while for the moisture and smell to go away. Bathroom was pretty old and dingy. Service was sub par probably because it was so busy. Waitress was very nice but had forgotten to bring our place settings and soy sauce bowls. Aside from these issues the sushi was excellent - nice presentation and tasted great. I would highly recommend this Sushi restaurant. Kind of a best kept secret in the Rancho Cordova area. My first time ordering here was a large takeout order for a family gathering, and I took the risk, having never been here before. I actually let the employee who answered my phone call to provide all his recommended sushi rolls and went with it, and added a sashimi and nigiri platter. I'm not sure where all the 4-5 star reviews come from for the price of their menu items. I'm used to comparing sushi restaurants to Mikuni (mid range) or Kru (high range). Aiko is priced like Mikuni. It wasn't bad but I drove 40 minutes to meet a friend here and it was just okay. It started off okay but nothing "wowed" us. We ordered the lemon drop and it was good but the avocado that was supposed to be on it was squished to add color but seemed to be omitted from the roll. We ordered spicy scallop hand rolls and the waitress came in a time warp later to tell us that they made them tempura style because they weren't sure if that's how we wanted them. They never came back to ask us fyi...they just decided to serve them to us this way. Scallops are a very delicate ocean shellfish and ANY true sushi chef knows not to mess with the sweet and delicate nature of the ocean scallop. We waited so long for the food we didn't decline the hand rolls but they were not good. Sushi chef fail. We got one other roll that I can't remember. The whole experience was uneventful. Service was extremely slow. I will not go back. FYI the scallop hand roll was $11 a piece. Very pricey. Again, comparing to Mikuni and Kru. If you want a great fine dining experience next to Kru try Roku sushi on Freedom way next to Top Golf. They use real chopsticks, etc. presentation is top notch. The tempura was especially impressive in that it was light and it didn't give me that greasy after feeling I usually get after eating fried tempura. The teriyaki was okay, I liked it the least out of all the sushi boat items. I also tried my first Oyster Shooter which I thought was really weird lol, I've never had anything similar but I didn't really like it. I felt like I was taking a shot that wanted to be a savory miso soup. I feel like it's a thing you really like it or you really don't haha. My friends enjoyed them and ordered multiple shooters including some spicy ones. Ther service was excellent. Very efficient and attentive. Where to start? My wife & I were in Sacramento for the day & we got to a point where we decided to eat at one of the next places we saw. We saw the sign for sushi, my wife loves it & I'm usually able to find something I enjoy so without knowing anything about Sky, we winged it. Best decision ever. We got a variety of different things, all being cooked as I explained to the owner that I've never eaten sushi as I'm not a raw fish type of person.
