    Chirashi Bowl
    Connie B.

I have been meaning to try this place for a while now and finally got around to it on Sunday afternoon. The restaurant is not too big but easily located off the freeway and plenty of parking within the plaza. The service was amazing where they were attentive, but not overbearing and the quality of the fish is great for its price! I highly recommend the chirashi bowl and the only critique I would have is to serve it in a bigger bowl because it was a little difficult to eat. However, the chef's choice selection was awesome and I really do enjoy it when they actually name each fish. They also do happy hour all day on Sunday so I tried two of the Rolls and it was solid. I would definitely be coming back as a regular.

After a 4.5 hour hike, we decided to find a refreshing sushi restaurant. We decided to stop in. We were greeted and waiter was very professional, and polite. The restaurant was clean, quiet, and restroom was clean as well. Ordered the cucumber salad, and tempura for starters. The presentation and flavor for both, absolutely delicious, fresh! We couldn't get enough. Then we placed an order for a few roles. Every single roll, was gone within minutes. My fiancé enjoyed them all. His favorite out of the three, was the knockout, although he said all three were all very good. I ordered the shrimp lover roll.. so tasty. Highly recommend, will come back again.

Food 4/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Came here on Friday night and was able to get a table fairly quickly. I didn't see an option for reservations online as well. Food came out very quickly and very pretty presentations. Want to try the raw oysters, but they didn't have it that day. Service was very friendly as well. Great quality sashimi and everyone enjoyed it. We'll be back to try more dishes.

This has been a long time favorite, not much has changed since the name change. My go to is still the beautiful roll. The atmosphere is intimate and the service is outstanding. We have been sitting at the bar and still getting that exceptional service we have always gotten. The garlic edamame can't be beat. It's so good that we opt to dip everything in the sauce after all of the beans are gone.

This place is absolutely amazing. Has been one of my go to stops here in rancho. Friendly staff, great vibe with the Japanese anime decor. The food is always amazing and the highest quality. We always get the chef special, be careful how spicy you ask for it because they do not play around here. Love this spot and will continue to make the drive here! My only knock, booths need to be updates. Other than that fantastic

My new favorite sushi restaurant! When I tell you everything tasted so good even the wasabi was something I loved. We ordered Geso (so fresh and well seasoned), gyoza (I've never had one like it and it was really good), and cucumber salad (I could have drank the sauce the put on it). We got four rolls: Slap happy, Scallop Maniac, Let me take a selfie, and Show me your love. The Scallop Maniac was my favorite but each roll was so good. I don't know if this is a me thing but at other places all of the rolls end up tasting the same, here all of the rolls were so unique and distinct tasting. The best thing offered was the sashimi platter. I highly recommend getting the large because we got the small and it was not enough. The fish was fresh and melt in your mouth quality. I would 100% be going back and trying other rolls. Our server was 10/10 but I also noticed the other servers engaging with their tables and I took a mental note of how great the service is. The restaurant itself was very clean and I'm going to be honest I was so focused on the food I didn't look around too see if there was any unique decor.

The food here is so good! I apologize if the names on the photos are wrong since I don't remember what they all were. But anyway the sushi and rolls are yummy! It tastes good and feels nice and tender. Feels and taste fresh! The service here is good and I've gotten stuff to go before as well. Really enjoyed it!

Ronin roll... sans a few pieces already eaten.

Wow! Get here for Sunday happy hour asap! The Ronin roll... crisp... a must! I've never had anything like it. Shishito peppers... best I've ever had. Located in a strip mall but the food rocks.

Knockout, Spicy Tuna Roll, Hawaiian Ono. (left to right)

I have had every single Chef Special Roll on the menu. And I keep going back, it's my favorite sushi spot in town. I think I've met all the staff (waitress/waiters) they are great too!

Walking in you are greeted with a Japanese greeting. The server was prompt in informing you to sit where you like. We must have came in on a bad night because they are out of a lot of items. No uni, no hamachi, and no kanpachi. When asking if this is a regular occurrence the server said it isn't. Onto what we ordered. Nigiri: Otoro, tobiko with uzura, and bluefin tuna. Rolls: Lion King, Slap Happy, and Smoky Aiko. Everything was so fresh and the rolls were so tasty. I really like my rolls sliced thin, and these rolls had nice thin pieces and the proportions of rice the ingredients were just right. The nigiri did not have too much rice. I am very interested in tasting the items they ran out of. Dining atmosphere is casual with laid back jazzy style music quietly playing. Tables are granite topped and Japan Night Time Cityscape posters above the booth seats. TV above the sushi bar has sports playing. The sushi chef is at the bar chatting with patrons while he is busy procuring orders. He informs them of what is what. Very good! I am inclined to return!

In a nutshell; pretty neat sushi establishment, not a strong suggest but an ok spot if to try if you're in the area. Another sushi place with specialty sushi that have rather unique names. Lots of parking space around. Went during dinner and it was fairly busy but place had a lot of seats and comfortable booths for any time of the day. Servers were great. Food didn't take too long to arrive. Never had trouble having refills for water. Overall always a pleasant experience every visit.

    Ask the Community - Aiko

Is there a happy hour menu at Sky Sushi? If there is, where is it posted, and what are the happy hour days/time?

Are they going to be open jan 2 and is it dine in now?

As far as I know they are only closed today and mondays. And yes dine in is open

Are they open during the shelter in place? If so what are the hours? I've tried calling a couple times to place an order.

The have different hours during this time. We ordered our food around 5pm on Friday evening. They do curb side service.

Are the sushi rolls half price?

All of their specialty rolls are. They do have one small section (maybe 7-10 rolls or so) of full priced rolls. Quality increases with price, but all their rolls are great!

They also have soup and so much more!! Victoria was our server and she was so patient as I had dinner w my Dad and teen son. The restaurant is ADA friendly with parking, flat ramp and she offered us a table with more space. We ended up eating quite a bit before I remembered to take pictures but I still got some. Some of our favorite items ordered during this visit was the Baked Lion King Roll, the King Kong Roll, Korean Short rib, grilled muscles and Holy Shrimp Roll. My son loved their fried banana and ube mochi desserts. Victoria was kind brought to bring him extras when he asked her politely. My dad and I loved the Melona Melon bar popsicle sticks. It literally tastes so refreshing on a hot day like eating the fruit off the stick! Their ambiance is very clean inside with plenty of space either at the sushi bar, booth or group tables. Dinner price ranges from $28-39 depending which AYCE tier you chose from. I've included pictures of their current menu. Subject to change when they get new ownership. But the place doesn't disappoint! We will be back soon. Thank you!!

Come noon, and checking my ETA to Los Angeles already pushed back to 21:00 PM, I decided to drive my rig in town to get something to eat before making that 10 hour drive down south. And I settled for Wabune Sushi in the Raleys Grocery Store plaza. So onto the review: I ordered a ton of food, and even wrote everything down on paper for the newbie server. Hamachi Kama: felt it wasnt Krispy or charred enough. 3.5/5 Volcano Mushrooms: wasn't what I was expecting, it was just a bunch of shrooms, battered up with some cream cheese 2.5/5 **would skip ordering this Douglas Roll: wasn't anything worth remembering, as in typing this an hour 1/2 later, I cannot recall what was in the Douglas Roll besides red sauce and spicy tuna, shrimp tempura....so it must have been a mediocre roll 3/5 Chirashi Bowl: was ok, sashimi was fresh, but nothing along the levels of Sushi Gen in Little Tokyo Los Angeles 4/5 Uni: I want to allege after finishing both Uni Nigiri that this wasn't the freshest, because of the complex after taste, it was somewhat bitter with a fishy aftertaste and the coloring was a bit dark. If you ever go to a Mitsuwas or Marukai or Nijiya and look for that shining glistening gold packaged air-imprted Uni...yeah. You'll know what I mean. Totally different. 3 2.5/5 Amaebi: Corral Sweet Shrimp Raw Nigiri: probably the only shining star or the 4/5 *Although I suggest next time removing the heads of the shrimp and steeping them with Miso soup for an additional layer of presentation, it would give the Miso soup more Umami And what else am I missing.....yes the Oysters at Market Price ($16.00) Ok aside from the fact the restaurant operators couldn't really name where the oysters were from...I'm assuming it's frozen oysters...I wanted to give this starter a higher score, but Everytime I slurp, I get fragments of the Oyster shells in my mouth, and honestly, I find the oysters that you can get at Wholefoods market Alot of times better quality and taste (being better quality oysters are sweeter and have less of that Seafood aftertaste. So unfortunately I have to give this order a 2.5/5 even though I finished it because the ponzu and chilli sauces they used really masked the natural tastes of the oyster. Mochi Green Tea Ice Cream: Skip. This is just supermarket mochi ice cream, you can pick up better at Sprouts or Wholefoods. 3/5

The chicken katsu is still one of the best I've had--light, crispy, and perfectly crunchy on the outside, with juicy, tender chicken inside. Every visit has been consistently delicious, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. I also tried the spicy pork again. It's a bit different from the Korean spicy pork I'm used to. Instead of the pork being marinated so the flavor is deeply infused, it seems to be grilled first and then coated with the sauce. While it's not the traditional style I expected, it's still flavorful and worth trying if you're open to a different take on the dish. In addition the chicken gangjeong dish that requires it to be "deep fried chicken" needs additional time to get crunchy like you would expect. I think the sauce may have made the crunch disappear. The fish cake also had a good flavor. The noodles were the perfect texture, the veggies were good, and the broth was rich, but not overly so. It had a great savory flavor. I absolutely loved the egg. It was perfectly in the middle between hard boiled and soft boiled. My late mom would make what I liked to call "goopy eggs." , and this one brought back a wonderful memory. Restaurant business ownership can…read morebe hard enough but when a review is truly necessary, good or bad, it should be left and this is one of those situations. I will start with the good and reason for 2 stars and not 1. The food was good. The salmon was well cooked (not dry/overcooked as many Japanese restaurants can be guilty of) and the rolls were all prepared very well by the chefs. Now for the negative. A lot of Rancho restaurants are not packed at night so it's not a reflection of this place that it was empty upon entry. I'm just referencing that to emphasize there wasnt an excuse for what I'm about to explain. Our small group of 4 adults and 2 kids were seated and greeted upon entry. Drink orders were taken and we were told chopsticks and forks would be brought (they never were). We placed our order before the party of about 10 came in and placed theres and that's when the wheels fell off. The rolls came out promptly, however, the three bento boxes and soup didn't. We waited and waited and waited. 30+ minutes go by and nothing. Finally one of the bento boxes comes after probably 45 out but the server started to give it to the other party. We had to quickly flag the server down to tell him it was ours. More time starts to pass and our remaining 2 bento boxes still haven't come. We see our bento boxes get placed down on the counter where they sat. The server took them to the kitchen and didn't reappear with them until moments later when he promptly gave them to the other party. Before we could flag him down AGAIN, the two members of the other party started digging in (despite one of them telling us outside that his friend knew it wasn't his but didn't want to wait any longer). So now it's been over 45 minutes and while our whole party is basically finished with their food, two of us still have nothing. Here's where it gets worse... We flag down our server, who hadn't checked on us thinking he might recognize, "hey, you don't have your food. That doesn't seem right." Nope. When we ask if our food is coming, he said the kitchen screwed him up and he could only bring out food as fast as they make it. We then tell him we are pretty sure he gave our food to the other table, he looked flustered and said he would check. The stand in sushi chef (very nice guy) came by to apologize and try to alleviate the blame from the server to him. Very kind of him but not true. The server then twice brought us the other party's food, but we did the right thing and said, no, that's not ours. Eventually 1 bento box came out but not the 2nd. When I asked if it was coming, they all looked shocked as in "uh oh, it happened again." I told them to cancel the order because we didn't have another hour to wait for food. The server then brought out the miso soup ordered at the beginning of the night. But wait, there's more. The bill finally comes and what do we see, an automatic 18% gratuity has been applied. I get it, the menu says parties of 6 or more. But in a fubar case like this, I think it's fair to leave that up to the party. The fill in chef adjusted the bill to remove the automatic gratuity to leave it up to us after I asked for such. He again apologized profusely despite it not being his fault. After the server brought our checks back and said sorry, he asked if there was anything else that was missed that we needed. I couldn't tell if that was rhetorical or if he was asking something he wanted to ask two hours prior. Either way, we said no, paid, and got up to leave. Now for the cherry on top. There are two doors. One in the middle of the restaurant with a sign on the OUTSIDE saying to use the other door but nothing on the inside saying it's an emergency exit or broken, etc and a door by the host stand. We watched two people exit out of the door in the middle of the restaurant and since it was closest, we exited out that door. As one of the children in our party was exiting, the metal blinds crashed down on her, cutting her collar bone skin. As we checked on her, the chef said not to worry about the blinds but no one checked on the child. He then promptly closed the door. W....t....f. As we stood outside wondering what just happened, we were approached by a gentleman from the other dining party. He then said, "Was that not the most horrendous experience you've ever had?" We then commiserated for a few minutes, him telling us about the wrong orders at their table and listening to our experience while we told him they ate our bento boxes and we had to cancel one of our orders. Truly a night to forget but a truly good bad story. It's experiences like this that make you wonder if you're on Punk'd. Long story short, food is good, service is horrible. Find somewhere else to go.
