I have been using Air 1 for about 10 years. They are fast and make sure you don't have to wait for service. And I trust them. All of the technicians have been professional and friendly. Today, Mark came to help with my new system. He has been to my house before so that is also comforting. My system had a clog in the water pipe. Mark fixed it quickly and professionally. AIR 1 has come through for us AGAIN! The HVAC unit died Monday evening in my home in Belmont Country Club. THE HOUSE WAS HOT! Air 1 was here the following morning. This is one of those companies where if you don't know much about HVAC, they'll take advantage of you. AC wasn't working. So I called these folks up. The guy told me that he needed to change the capacitor, then did so. Then told me that I needed 2 1/2 pounds of Freon which cost $189 a pound which when I did the math is $472.50. I declined. I then remembered a friend of my brothers that does HVAC and gave him a call and he came within the hour. He completely filled up the Freon For a total of $175.00. He also mentioned that there should've been some freezing in the wiring & noticeable water leak being that the freeon wasn't sufficient yet the AC was pushing out. He felt that the AirOne repair tech MAY have flushed out my freeon. Can't really prove this, but who knows? Anyway AirOne charge me a hefty $245 to look at the air-conditioning and replace the capacitor which took a few minutes. read more

It's been 4 years, and we've had nothing but problems with the system installed. With each problem, we assumed it was an anomaly. (Fuse blew late on a Saturday? It happens. Control board needs replaced a year later and it's not under warranty? Well...I guess we could just be unlucky. Now the system is leaking coolant. I've had multiple HVAC companies come out, and each one unsolicited has advised me that "installation is important - about 80% of what you get in the long-run will depend on quality installation". I don't know if my carrier system is garbage, or if it's the install. What I do know is this is complete bullshit. read more

Avoid at all costs. They will refuse to diagnose, try and up sell a new system and take your service fee (without doing anything). Here is the background. My AC went out a few weeks ago and I called this company. Their senior technician, Vinh, showed up on time and took a look at our HVAC system. At first he said that we were most likely low on freon. But he also mentioned that our system is old (11 years) and would likely need to be replaced. Now, he made this comment without actually checking the outside AC units - so my guard went up. Vinh then went outside and checked the AC unit. He took one look and said it needs to be replaced. He instantly said the other alternative is to replace the motor, capacitor and the compressor. Essentially the three main parts of the unit (for about $2k). He then proceeded to upsell me on a new unit ($6k+). After this point is when it gets bad. I would ask questions and he would literally say, "your unit is old. You need a new one" to every question. I then asked him if he could run some tests on the system (to see if we could narrow down the problem) and he flat out refused. He said they have a reputation to hold up and did not want to provide a service they did not feel comfortable doing. Now remember, this is for a diagnosis! The reason why I called them in the first place! And at one point he actually said to my "So you tell me why it is broken." That is a direct quote. Finally Vinh left (while accepting the $79 service fee) and i called a different company. They showed up, replaced a capacitor and charged me under $200. After telling the service tech (of the new HVAC company) about Air 1, he actually looked shocked. He said that what had happened was a very obvious sign of a burnt out capacitor. He then said that the Air-1 service tech must be inexperienced (but Vinh is one of their senior technicians) or scam artists. It has been over 6 weeks and my AC is working great after the new company came in. So it looks like I didn't need a new unit after all. tl;dr - Air 1 is dishonest and will refuse to diagnose your problems on the hope they can up sell you a new unit. Air 1 provided a $6k solution to my broken AC problem. Another company fixed the issue for $200. read more

I noticed that my AC was broken after my trip, and the temperatures were reaching 90 degrees here. I had to get it fixed quick. I noticed a sticker on my AC unit, so I decided to call. The guy quickly got me an appointment the next morning. The guy came in and had a very nice demeanor. He quickly found out that my AC needed gas (didnt even know that ACs needed gas...shows you how handy I am), and that some other service person had stepped on a wire, and broken it. He didn't even charge me for the broken wire. He said that it would take an hour for the AC to kick in, and proceeded to give me some tips. I headed to work. When I returned, my house was cool. I just want to say that the owner's reply isn't true. I do not have a home warranty. I received an email with the quote but that was it. The fact is that their technician disconnected a part of our air conditioner without our approval and without telling us. If we hadn't wanted to get a second opinion, we would have assumed the thing was broken. They also told us that other air conditioner had a leak. Two other HVAC technicians told us otherwise. When we discovered our thermostat wasn't working in the late afternoon, I called. It was a Saturday a couple of hours before they closed, so I was hoping to speak with a person about making an appointment and not just talk to an answering machine. They answered, and we made an appointment for the next morning, but to our surprise, they called me back five minutes before their closing time to say they were on their way. With five minutes until closing time and an appointment for tomorrow already booked, they could have easily not called and just showed up in the morning, but they went above and beyond and made the trip out. The tech showed up, diagnosed the issue and was up in the attic working on the furnace in just a few minutes. Within an hour, he was fixed and done. It was hour past closing time, but he was working like it was his first appointment of the day. Professional, courteous, efficient and affordable. Great service, highly recommended! A little pricey at $225/hour, but very good work. We had a small gas leak from our Dante Valve (the keyhole valve next to a gas fireplace). Valve itself was fine, but there was a hard to reach nut that needed to be tightened, and the tech, Davila, also used a sealant to ensure it wouldn't leak again. He was prompt/on time with the appointment, and both he and his assistant made certain to take their shoes off as they went in and outside (which was good because it was a bit muddy out). Would use again, but would get a couple of estimates to compare for larger jobs. read more

I have been a faithful customer of Air1 since 2015. They replaced my entire HVAC and water system on a condo I had purchased and had the best price to offer. Since then I have used them for everything. I have never had an issue with scheduling. I can get pretty much whatever day I request. I appreciate that they send a text and email when they are on the way. That way you aren't waiting around all day wondering. Every person who has come to my house has been professional and courteous. They are very thorough on explaining the work that is to be performed. I also have a maintenance package for my HVAC system. Quick and excellent service. We had an old HVAC system from the 70s that needed to be replaced. I had a few days off of work so I called up Air 1 to see if they were able to come down the next day to give me an estimate to replace the system. They were able to meet my request and provide me an quote within 24 hours of the initial call. Air 1 came on time on the day they scheduled to install the new system. They finished the job within the estimated time frame and there was no disruption to my routine even while the work was being done. I noticed that our heat pump was not cooling, so I contacted the company (remain nameless) that performed the original split system install for the previous property owner. I was not happy with their service and their technician seemed to have a case of the giggles whenever I was talking to him, so I thought he may be on something. Within a month and a half we were having HVAC problems again. So I did some web research and used Yelp before contacting A1 on a Sunday. I was surprised that A1 would have someone stop by the next day, on Monday. The technician for A1 was Davila, and he listened while I explained what I thought the problem was. He took a look at the unit and found the capacitor was damaged, so there was no power to the outside compressor. Also the previous contractor did not fully charge the system with refrigerant, that they of course charged me for. So refrigerant was added by A1. The cost of the work was very reasonable. During the following week there was a power surge and the compressor was off line again. I called A1 again on Sunday and again prompt Monday service by Davila. Davila opened up the disconnect box, so that I could take a look at the burned out fuse. After performing the repairs, I was surprised that I was only charged for the cost of a new disconnect box!! No labor charge!! Prompt, professional service and trade expertise that allows the clear explanation of problems. I highly recommend A1 and intend to use them for my future HVAC and Plumbing needs!! read more

These guys are honest, know what they are doing and charge a fair, reasonable price--better price then may others. 1 of 2 AC systems in our 4 story TH went on the fritz. I turned to Yelp to find a HVAC company. (Sadly I first called another company who came, charged me 95.00 for the service call, said they couldn't determine the problem but would come back in 3 days and for 600-800 they'd run a leak test. If that didn't fix the problem they'd apply that cost to a new AC system. I told them no thanks. I asked why I was paying 95.00 if they were unable to diagnose the problem--didn't matter, gad tp pay just for them showing and making an effort. They noted no one else would be able to ascertain the problem and were so confident said they'd refund my 95.00 if another company was able to determine the problem and make a fix.) I moved on to Air 1 Heating, Cooling & Plumbing calling them at 5pm as soon as they other company left. I feared I'd have to wait a day or two for a technician to get to my home. I WAS VERY PLEASED to be told the technicians would be at my home by 6pm the same day. Vaheh and Herbert arrived 10 minutes early. Within 15 minutes they had diagnosed the problem (blown condensor) and fixed it right away. These guys were awesome. Friendly, professional and HONEST. They were patient and answered all my questions. This team (and Vaheh's experience) has made Air 1 Heating, Cooling & Plumbing the ONLY choice for me in the future !! So happy with my experience with Air1. I called for a cleaning of my hvac system and the technician who arrived was very professional. He arrived on time, was neat while doing the cleaning and very helpful in answering my questions about what I needed for maintenance going forward. I really liked that he seemed honest and did not try to sell me on anything that I did not need. In contrast, I had a maintenance check up by another company and they pretty much lied to me about all sorts of things wrong with my system and then tried to sell me some expensive equipment. Made me skeptical, so I am very happy I did some research and did not use that company and called Air1 instead, because I found out there was nothing wrong with the system, just needed to be cleaned inside. I plan to use Air1 for my maintenance check-ups in the future, and its good to know that they can do same day service if I ever have an emergency. read more

Had these guys out for the third time this year as my condo is about 14 yrs old and things are starting to "happen" . Always get a service tech promptly , on time , and the issues are fixed. Not dirt cheap, but I have had cheap techs in the past with problems not resolved. I go with these guys and I know it's done when they're gone. I've used these guys more than once. Once for my heater in the dead of winter, and once for my a/c, in mid-August. Reasonably priced. I hate to pay to have things fixed in my house, but I can't trouble shoot my hvac systems. Within 30 minutes of my call a technician was here and within another 30 minutes the system was fixed. Luckily this time it wasn't a complete system failure, a simple part fixed the problem. The repair man fixed it and patiently answered my questions without talking down to me. After reading the reviews for Air 1 I decided to give them a call for an estimate of a complete system. While my current system is still working I know it is only a matter of time before it needs to be replaced since it is going on 12 years. The receptionist was very pleasant on the phone and scheduled one of the partners to come out for the estimate. I really wanted these guys to be as good as the reviews say, but here I am two weeks later and I still don't have an estimate from them even though the estimator who came out said I would have it within a week tops. I am disappointed to say the least. Also as he was leaving my house he turned to me and said "you seem very knowledgeable about the repairs and stuff, are you a competitor". I thought to my self WTF, but decided to let it go. I take pride in my home and always ensure contractors do what they are to do so as to not be taken for a ride. I do my research ergo while not in the HVAC business I knew what to ask, and what to ask for. I am Latino by the way. I wonder if he would of asked the same question to someone not of Latino decent. Marc replaced a gas furnace part. We had trouble for 10 years. He came in, looked over the system, and pointed out the part that caused the problem - something to do with gas distribution. Avoid. Hired to perform a simple plumbing job: check and replace if necessary a hot water expansion tank. Tank should contain half air, half water, and was already diagnosed as bad (full of water, not doing its job). Air 1 comes out, looks at the full tank, declares it "good" and charges for the service. A third plumber hired to recheck the work again says the tank is bad. Call Air 1 to get this simple mistake fixed. Ha! Nothing but excuses and adversarial nonsense. "We weren't asked to replace it! Customer declined replacement! Customer only asked us to check for leaks!" No "oops, sorry, let's get back out there and solve your problem," just a series of conflicting excuses for failing to do basic plumbing work correctly. Completely unprofessional in all dealings... and never even questioned that we were right, that the tank was bad. Coming back out would force them to admit it. Edit 1: Wow, Alan from Air 1 may not be on the ball for fixing plumbing mistakes, but he's watching Yelp like a hawk! A few hours after I posted he wants it taken down. Notice: still NO argument that the tank isn't bad, he just doesn't like that *I* wasn't the one who ended up paying for the shoddy work. :( I have the invoice in front of me, I own the house and the bad expansion tank, despite the fact that the previous owner contracted him for the work (at our insistence, after our home inspector spotted the bad tank). Still no word on a fix or any help. :( Edit 2: A (better) plumber is out now replacing the water heater and expansion tank. With five seconds of work he told us our pressure regulator was bad (double the recommended water pressure in the house) which likely caused the problem in the first place. Not a word about that on Air 1's invoice, either. Let me guess, the seller declined to have you fix this critical problem? But you didn't write anything on the invoice... read more

I initially called a company referred to me by a friend, but they couldn't come out till Monday. I found these guys on yelp and gave them a call based on the the great reviews. They could see me the same day! They gave me a 2 hour window and showed up early even! Like the others, I found the technicians to be professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. Their prices are better than other companies I called, who charge you more for coming out "after hours" or on weekends. My a/c stopped working and I originally submitted a claim with my home warranty company. The original contractor they sent out replaced something (it looked like a fuse but actually holds oil) and told me it would take 24 hours for my house to cool down. 3 days later the house still didn't cool below 80 degrees at night and 85 plus during the day. When the original contractor refused to answer my phone calls and my home warranty company was being less than helpful I called Air 1 based on the Yelp reviews. Fernando came to my house that day, A SUNDAY! He arrived at the start of my scheduled time slot. He was very nice, professional, clean, and wasn't insulted when I watched him work and asked questions (being a girl I'm often ignored by contractors or given the brush off). Fernando showed me that I was low on freon and my system was running at 88 dregrees. He was able to add the freon to my system and made sure I had a new filter and knew how to change it. Before he left he took temperature readings in multiple areas of the house to make sure things were cooling off. Before he left he also suggested a few maintenance items for my heating unit before the winter that I might want to look in to. There was no pressure to purchase a service contract or get him to do the work. I felt like he just wanted to make sure I was aware of necessary items. I cannot say enough good things about this company, and Fernando. I will not hestiate to contact them again. read more

I knew my HVAC system needed to be replaced. They answered my questions, and confirmed my suspicions on why my old HVAC was not repairable. They proposed a reasonable Carrier replacement. 1-full day job for 2 techs. Good job quality, and walkaround to explain the systems. So far so good. They've come back when I told them about an issue. I contacted Air 1 late morning (10ish) about an AC issue where the condensing unit outside was no longer functioning correctly. Vinh Dang arrived at noon (two hours later) to look things over. He quickly identified the issue as a bad compactor. Vinh noticed that the capacitor was most likely not strong enough for my 5-ton unit so he added a hard start capacitor to help get the system running quicker. He then performed a chemical wash on the radiator fins (or what ever they're called) so the system wouldn't have to work as hard to keep things cool. Then he took the time to clean the filtration system with the same chemicals. Finally, Vinh performed a coolant check to ensure the system was operating efficiently. All of this was completed quickly and to my satisfaction. I will definitely call them again the next time I need work done to my HVAC system. read more

I used to trust and like this company until their technician came in August last year for AC repair. He put a freon in for 600 dollars without sealing it. I guess it was done deliberately in order to make me buy the whole unit. Of course, as long as freon was gone, the AC stopped cooling. Not a good sales practice. read more
