A plumber came (not Crown) and fixed the toilet but the drip persisted. When I tried to call this unnamed plumber back, he said he was out of town for a week. Ugh! Crown to the rescue! I called crown and they sent Elvis over to explore our problem. Elvis quickly determined that the toilet was not our problem and set about exploring other options. After some good detective work, he discovered a very slow leak inside one of our walls. He expeditiously fixed it and explained the cause. This guy knows his business! We also appreciated his being upfront about the cost of his visit had was careful to document the itemized bill. He even carried a book of possible repairs and their cost for transparency. It is hard to find a good plumber but I have high praise for Crown and recommend them without hesitation.

I was informed that dryer vents should be cleaned every 2-3 years, and 2. You did clog the vent the first time you were here and I did call and pay a dryer technician unnecessarily only to find out my vent was clogged. You had to come back a second time to try to clean it again, which I appreciate. If you read my reviews, they don't speak negatively of your business. In my first review, I stated that people should hire you and I suggested that if they do, they should do a walkthrough since some of my vents were missed. At that point, if I didn't like your company, I wouldn't have hired you a second time. With regard to the second cleaning, again, my review isn't negative, I'm stating my experience. If you remember, when you returned after learning about the clog, you came here and stated that builders shouldn't put these grates on the exhaust vents. You were basically suggesting it's the builders fault for the clog and there's little you can do about it. Whether that's true or not, the grates are what they are and they need cleaning. If your company doesn't go on roofs to clean them, then I believe it makes sense for somone with an exhaust vent on their roof to hire someone that does go on roofs to clean them. My 3-star rating is based on: 1. that vents were missed the first time I used your service, and 2. that my dryer exhaust vent was immediately clogged the second time I used your service. What rating do you suggest for that? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I used MAC Master again after I moved. They came in and cleaned the HVAC unit and the dryer vent. The next day, my dryer stopped drying. Since I had just had the vent cleaned, it had to be the dryer. I called a dryer technician to come check it out. Turns out, that the dryer vent was clogged. I called MAC Master to tell them of the issue. They came out again and mentioned that builders usually put a grate on the exhaust vent of dryers so that animals don't go into them, however, mine is on the roof and they don't go on roofs. They went into my attic and punched a hole in my dryer vent and tried to clean it from there. About a year later, my dryer isn't drying again. This time I used the trick the dryer tech showed me to see if it's the vent. The trick is to run the dryer with the dryer door open (you have to hold the door closed switch so it runs while the door is open) and hold a paper towel over the lint exhaust vent (with the lint filter removed). By doing this, you can see if the vent is trying to suck in the paper towel (make sure you don't lose that paper towel in there!). There was zero suction, so my vent was clogged again. I'm not surprised considering it was not cleaned and the grate probably had a few unclogged holes for air flow this whole time. I had to hire another HVAC cleaning company that does go on roofs to come and clean the dryer vent again. This should not need to be done yearly if it's cleaned properly. So after paying MAC Master for the cleaning, I wasted money on a dryer technician, and then had to pay another HVAC company for a full dryer vent cleaning to make sure the grate was cleaned. I've attached a picture of the grate. My suggestion is that If you have a dryer venting out of your roof, hire a company that will go on your roof to do a full cleaning.

This week a different crew came to replace some insulation and to install a "critter guard" to keep animals out from under our panels. When they left, the price of the work was more than 40% higher than what was in the written, itemized estimate. I spoke with Joel, the owner. He told me that the cost of a both the service call and labor had increased, but no explanation was provided for the failure to update the quote. The main increase in the invoice came from the labor time, which was nearly twice what was originally quoted. I asked if the crew was inexperienced so it took them longer, and he told me that he had sent an experienced team who knew what they were doing. They had called him during the work, however, to report that they were slipping on the roofing shingles, so it took nearly twice the usual time to finish the job. They had even tried to use some kind of a safety harness, but it failed to solve the problem. I told Joel that it would have been appropriate for the workers to tell the client that they were not feeling safe on the roof before the work was begun. I never would have allowed anyone to continue working on a roof they claimed was dangerous. Joel then told me this was an inexperienced crew who were unable to assess conditions on the roof until they were well into the job, and at that point, they couldn't really stop working. In sum, I was told that the crew was experienced enough to work efficiently, but they took four hours to complete the job. I was then told they were so inexperienced that they spent those four hours slipping and sliding around on our roof, but we heard no sounds of this inside the house, and nobody informed us there was a problem until it was time to pay. I was told that American Solar decided, without informing us, the homeowners, that they would continue installing materials on a roof that their workers had reported was unsafe. Even setting aside the contradictory statements, we find it difficult to believe that an established company would disregard both safety and liability in this manner. No offer was made to honor the quoted pricing. No offer was made to honor the quoted labor cost. I was simply thanked for my "feedback" and told that "this is why it's called an estimate." We were charged $1200 for 30 feet of insulation and wire guards to keep squirrels from nesting under two solar panels. We paid the invoice in full, an expensive lesson learned. We will use another company for any future needs.

John was very professional & set me right up for my vehicle inspection. I really liked that they schedule your vehicle like an appointment, where other inspection stations, you pull into a vehicle waiting line, where you park your car behind the one in front of you, as the cars move along, slowly, you have to start your car an inch forward, ypu can be stuck in your car for 3, or even 4 hours. This was a nice change! Drop off our car and go on with your day. I could have recieved a ride to wherever I needed in the area, but decided to stick around. John said it would be 1.5-2 hour wait. No problem, I'll hang out. Which I usually don't like to do.. but I'll tell you why I did. The company shop is well lit, exceptionally clean and had some nice creature comforts, not the hard plastic chairs you usually find, but a couple of love seats, and very comfortable chairs. The obligatory coffee machine (Keurig) , hot water (for Tea) or cold water. A very Clean restroom and they have a friendly atmosphere among the staff & customers. I also was pleasantly surprised at how clean & organized the bays were. Not the greasy, dusty, dirty bays you usually see in other auto shops. Not only did they complete the vehicle inspection but also provided a free diagnostics, complete with photos of areas of concern on my vehicle, but also recommendations for future service, where either I could do the repair or they would schedule it & complete the job. I also recieved an electronic copy for my files. I will be coming back for more than my vehicle inspection sticker!! I received more value from Craftsman Auto Care than the cost of the inspection! Overall 5 Stars out of 5 Stars!

Cardinal Plumbing and I had a difficult start but the story ends well. My initial problem was for a leaky pipe. It took a three tries to get a plumber in the house because the first and second tries the plumber's jobs ran over and they could not make it on the day they were scheduled. However, the third time was the charm and Kyle came and quickly diagnosed my problem and repaired the pipe that had a pinhole leak. Pinhole leaks can be a massive problem so I wanted to correct the source of the corrosion before any more leaks appeared. Kyle recommended a whole house water treatment system and gave me a price for the brand they carry. I did my own research (even contacted my county water authority) and settled on a different type of filtration system that seemed to better fit the needs for my water. Kyle came back and gave a great estimate for installing a Pelican system that I picked out and ordered online. The great thing about Cardinal Plumbing is they give you a fixed price, not a time and materials rate. They also give a one year warranty on the work they perform. Kyle returned once the hardware was delivered and spent all day installing the system. His work is very professional and the finished installation is beautiful! He spent all the time I needed to explain how everything worked and even offered to answer any additional questions over the phone. I definitely would recommend Cardinal Plumbing even if you need a little patience on the front end of the process. If it was not for the difficulty of getting the plumber into the house the first time, this would be a 5 star rating. read more

I would give Cardinal Plumbing and Tony De Mar 10 stars if it were possible. I called Cardinal because I had water coming from a drain pipe in my basement. Tony came out, took a look, told me it was the emergency or overflow drain for my washing machine on the 2nd floor. There is an overflow drain below the washing machine that sends water directly down through a pipe that feeds into the basement drain. He said that the problem was that my washing machine was leaking. I called the appliance company with which I have a maintenance contract for the machine. They sent out someone who maintained that the washing machine didn't leak, that I needed to call a plumber. After researching, I felt that another washing machine technician was required to investigate more thoroughly than the first person had done. This person came out and again maintained I needed to call a plumber. So I called Cardinal back. Tony came out and investigated and said it had to be the washing machine but there was no way to know for sure without getting the washing machine (a washer/dryer combo) out of the closet something that requires 2 people. He called someone who could come the next day to help so Tony returned to my house the following morning with a second person. They got the washing machine out of the closet and tested it. And there it was leaking and leaking far more water than anticipated. I am so grateful to Tony for doing such a thorough job and not giving up until he got to the root of the problem. And I'm lucky that he had washing machine expertise to go along with his plumbing expertise. read more

Our house was built 16 years ago and still had all the original heating, AC, and water heater equipment. Time to update all. I did my due diligence and got my 3 quotes. While all quotes were in the same ballpark, Cardinal was the only one that took the time to do a full load calculation of our house. I'm and engineer, so I'm particular in demanding that the people I hire know what they're talking about. The other 2 companies spent all of 20 minutes looking at the old equipment and quoted a direct replacement of what we had. Many times, builders installed equipment is larger than it needs to be (one size fits all..) and that was the case here. I know because I did my own load calculation before anyone came to have a look. Cardinal was also the only one installing Lennox equipment, something that rated high on Consumer Reports. We made a few changes to the original quote and I required some additional documentation prior to starting the job. Eric, our salesman, stuck with me and delivered all that I needed. Our job was scheduled just a few short weeks after our contract was signed. The guys showed up around 10am and didn't leave until nearly 8pm that night. They got all 3 units installed along with some ducting modifications in one day. The guys were all very courteous, everything was cleaned up nicely, and best of all, everything worked to expectations. There were a few things that needed to be tweaked, and one crew returned a week later to finish the job off. Job well done - thank you! read more

I called Cardinal for a toilet replacement; an American Standard was what I wanted and they had a great deal for that very toilet, installed. While talking on the phone to Maria, their contact, I asked if they did replacements on outdoor faucet, and she quoted an estimate of maybe $250 or so. I told her to place the order. George showed up in the time window. I had received an email just before that, introducing him - photo included, so I knew who to expect. George called 1/2 hour before arriving. He was very friendly and polite and endured my wife's and my questions. He inspected the faucet and told me it didn't need replacing (!) just tightening. He had it done in 30 seconds. He saved me over $200 with that alone. While fixing the faucet, he tested our water pressure and found it was too high. Under our crawlspace he located the worn pressure valve that had been rusted and encrusted with calcium/lime residue. He suggested it might be good to fix it, but that it wasn't mandatory, simply that it would effect the length of the warranty we would get for the toilet, since the pressure was abnormally high. Long story shortened, we went with the entire fix and spent just about $1,000 for all the work and a membership with their program that saves 10% off any repair bill. These guys will be my plumber from now on. George was wonderful to deal with. The process, from phone call to Maria, to the completed job could not have gone better. I give them an A+ read more

We moved into a house with a 14 year old water heater. Cardinal was one of three estimates we were provided in a two-day period. Cardinal impressed us from the start. First, the customer service office is extremely pleasant. What surprised me most is the fact that Cardinal doesn't give a four hour window like the other major companies. We were given a specific time that the tech would show up for the estimate. Our assigned tech was Zack. He showed up on time, which is a big plus in my book (Marine vet here), and he was very thorough in explaining the issues with the old water heater, and why we should consider replacing it. Not once did Zack try to sell us on additional services, nor did he try to pressure us into a new water heater. He did point out additional issues with my old water heater setup that weren't up to state code, and noted that those items were important to include in a new install. The estimate Zack provided was both fair, transparent, and a little lower than other estimates we received. Though money talks, the customer service alone is why we decided to move forward with having Cardinal (Zack specifically) install a new water heater. Fast forward a week later -- Zack arrived on time for the install, accompanied by Greg. The install was quick and clean. I couldn't have asked for a better team!!! Contacted Cardinal around 9 am, didn't realize their office was open at 7 am I think. Arranged to meet technician between 12:00-2:00 pm. I advised I worked 10 minutes from home and they would let me know about 10 minutes before arrival. Sure enough I was sent a text right about 1:00 pm. Ironically their office is very close to mine and soon as I left I pulled in behind a Cardinal van, matching the turns I'd take I knew it had to be my guy who was driving professional and responsibly. He took one way on my street and I took another. Met Zack Eanes who was clean and very courteous and greeted me very professionally. Right away he opened my clean out and got to work. He hit some blockage soon after entering the pipe but said he wanted to run it all the way through and he did. It was estimated to run well into the Service Authority's system. He then dropped in the camera I had requested and found another small blockage and pulled the camera out reinserting the snake with a large head and ran the pipe again. He then put in the camera and took us into the Authority's pipe showing me. Gave us a clean bill of health as it was just minor roots. Said see how it does and let them know of any issues. I used Cardinal Plumbing to repair shoddy plumbing work I had done before by a different company and am extremely happy with their service. I'm definitely using them for my future plumbing needs. Scheduling was simple and easy, over the phone. I was able to speak to a person rather than leaving messages and she scheduled my appointment with a two hour window, which is great. The day of the appointment they sent a reminder via e-mail, which included a name and photo of the plumber assigned to my job, Daniel T. He was right on time, on the early side of the window they provided. Daniel was very knowledgeable, polite and courteous. He inspected the problem and confidently explained what needed to be done. I was impressed enough to ask about another plumbing issue I had and we added it to the job. He got to work and quickly completed both jobs. He showed me what he had done and the quality was heads and shoulders over past plumbers. Their prices are straight forward, they have an app with standard pricing which includes a discount for addon (i.e. more than one on the same visit) jobs. Home repairs are never fun, but this was a great experience, the price was reasonable and this is my go to plumbing company from now on. read more

In February of this year the cover monoxide monitor in my basement went off. Luckily we were away and we were able to call the fire department who came shut off the heating unit and cleared the house of the car monoxide. I knew that I needed to hire an expert in order to make sure that the system is safe especially since I have a newborn in the house. I'm not from this area originally so I relied on a number of Internet reviews and I am happy to say that Cardinal plumbing heating and air really lived up to its reviews. Mike came to the house was super respectful and treated our house as if it was his own. He worked diligently to find the source of the carbon monoxide back up stemming from the heating unit. It's not every day that a guy pulls a suicidal squirrel that is half melted out of your carbon monoxide pipe that's exactly what Mike did. He charged a reasonable rate for what turned out to be a pretty nasty job and had an awesome attitude about it. I will look no further for my HVAC/Plumbing needs. These guys are awesome. Selected Cardinal from Yelp reviews. First time using the company but plan to use and refer them going forward whenever the need arises. Received call from George A. that he was within 30 minutes of property. He was polite, worked calmly and efficiently to find the source of a terrible leak that was running down the walls of a newly constructed three story home. George A cut several holes and quickly found an open water supply joint that was never capped under one of several bathrooms. He showed me the issue prior to fixing and quickly corrected the problem taking pictures of the issue before and after the repair. I was so relieved that he had resolved what I thought could be a very complex issue so quickly and with only three new holes in the drywall, I asked George to perform a plumbing check of the rest of the bathrooms water sources to ensure that we would not have another problem. I'm a realtor and am always looking for reliable, skilled and reasonably priced vendors. Cardinal meets all of these criteria. I wish they worked in D.C. and M.D. I would have them on speed dial! read more

As a business owner who provides basement waterproofing services, we would often require the assistance of a licensed plumber who could and would respond rapidly to our needs and situations. This company excels in all areas of the plumbing and heating field. During an excavation of a basement, we discovered some very old and rusted plumbing dating back to the early 1920's which had to be replaced. Problem was, we were on a deadline and the issues had to be resolved within 2 days. After speaking with Danny, one the owners, he volunteered to have their crew come in on a Saturday and Sunday to complete the work which allowed us to bring our work in on schedule. They have consistantly provided superior service to our customers for the past 5 years. They are undoubtedly the only plumbing and heating service I ever refer our clients too because I can depend on them to follow through with their commitment to excellence. What started as a need for an immediate fix turned into a long term relationship with Cardinal Plumbing. Our first call was due to a leaky kitchen sink pipe that occurred out of nowhere. Cardinal was called the next day and they were able to squeeze us in without an extra charge. They sent Mark as our technician. He diagnosed the problem and immediately fixed it. He was so precise and professional, that we requested him to be our permanent tech. In less than a year, we've had Mark out to our home to flush the hot water tank and perform regular maintenance checks on our toilets, install a water line to the garage, hook up a sink and hot water tank and plumbing in our renovated garage, and replace valves under the kitchen sink whilst installing our new dishwasher. Mark is so good that we also made him the tech for our HOA pool house. He's been to the pool house to flush pipes and replace old rusty concrete filled pipes. We appreciate Cardinal's method of scheduling with the email and texting reminders and updates. read more

My wife and I have a boutique Inn in Loudoun County (Stone Manor). We have had Cardinal perform several jobs including installing a bathroom, a half bath, a catering kitchen, gas lines, a housekeeping area and various emergency repairs when things have gone wrong which is apt to do when one has nine bathrooms, two powder rooms, three kitchens, a bar and multiple plumbing and gas lines servicing various areas. I initially started using Cardinal when their job quote was so much more reasonable than other local plumbing companies for installing a second half-bath in a reception area. I have continued to utilize them because their workers are knowledgeable, professional, courteous and timely. I have used previous plumbing companies during the past thirty years that my wife and I have owned Stone Manor, and none other compare to the quality of work, reasonableness of fees and professionalism of Cardinal Plumbing. Jessie was the greatest! Very professional and a very caring person and he was early. Tackled a difficult job with patience and efficiency. Worked with me for the most efficient and inexpensive way to complete the job of removing a rusty hose from a laundry faucet. Washer/dryer combo was delivered over an hour late than and Best Buy would not install because of the rusty hose. I was very upset. Called one plumbing company, but could only make an appoint for 2 days later. Called Cardinal Plumbing and they were able to accommodate me with and appointment the same day! Very courteous and professional and very happy with customer service and especially with one of their most valued employee: Jessie. We had an emergency basement flood caused by a malfunctioning water heater, and Cardinal Plumbing sent Sebastian out on short notice. I can't say enough about how impressive he was. Sebastian methodically assessed the situation, stayed calm under pressure, and worked through the problem step by step until he identified the root cause. At one point during diagnostics, he literally couldn't let go of a failed valve without risking even more flooding. Like Spider-Man holding the train together in Spider-Man 2, he held his position until a colleague arrived to help safely drain the heater. It was one of those moments where you realize you've got the right person on the job. In the end, the unit had to be replaced, and both Sebastian and the company were very fair on pricing given the circumstances. I contacted this company based on their Yelp reviews and was thrilled that they lived up to the praise. I was told the plumber would call and/or arrive between 11 am and 1:00 pm. Daniel arrived around 10:00 am. I was out so when he called I let him know that he'd have to wait until I was able to get home, about 10 minutes. He said "no problem, take your time"...very nice! Without even turning on the water or looking at anything, he knew exactly the cause of our problem based on my description (leaky tub spout and a squealing sound when the shower is on) and gave me an estimate. Due to the age of the plumbing, he warned me that it could be worse but if it is, he will stop his work and let me decide how to proceed. It turned out to be what he expected and the estimate was the price I paid (expensive however, isn't all plumbing?). I'm very satisfied with the service I received today. read more

I really like this plumbing company. It is easy to deal with; appointments are efficiently made and then confirmed by email (in which they tell you the name of the plumber who will do the work). Most recently they sent Logan to take care of a plumbing issue. After Logan identified and confirmed the work that needed to be done, he told us what the cost would be (which sounded pretty good to us) and then started working on the job. Unfortunately, the job was significantly more difficult than anticipated. Rather than taking about half an hour, the job took almost six hours. Nevertheless, the original estimate was honored, and Logan remained professional, courteous, and cheerful throughout the ordeal. Then, when he finished, Logan cleaned up the work area, leaving it cleaner than it had been when he began. He mentioned that he prides himself on always doing that. read more

I highly recommend Cardinal Plumbing. We recently had a Navien tankless hot water heater installed in our 200+ year-old home, which comes with its fair share of challenges. Three other plumbers had difficulty dealing with the layout and complexities of the house, but Cardinal Plumbing handled it professionally and confidently from start to finish. Josh and Kyle were outstanding. They worked incredibly hard, took the time to do the job correctly, and navigated the unique issues that come with an older home without cutting corners. It seems like since my last review that Cardinal Plumbing has grown too big too fast. It's no longer easy to get a quote from them as they seem to want to always send somebody in person, even during the pandemic. I went through their website to send a video and a bunch of photos for a simple water heater replacement - no repairs, just a swap. It wanted me to schedule an appointment. I used the "chat" function and asked if they could give me a quote virtually because I don't want anybody in my home unnecessarily. They said they would reach back out. I never heard from them. I ended up using another plumber who responded personally to my email / photos within a day. I was happy with Cardinal Plumbing 3 years ago, but in that time I've tried to get a quote from them multiple times and it's been too much of a hassle. read more

Had an annual service done today on HVAC and plumbing/hot water heater. Both technicians called 30 minutes ahead of arrival to let me know when they'd be there. Both were very professional and knowledgeable. In addition to servicing all units in the house, both gave me some great recommendations on improvements we could make. On the HVAC, we needed an inoperable float switch replaced on a unit in the attic, and the technician had the part on the truck, and was able to give me an accurate estimate prior to starting the work. He also noticed that our condensate line was routed in a way that could possibly cause issues during the heating season and rerouted it to reduce the chances it would clog. I've been very happy with Cardinal in the past, and today was no exception. Always great service. Highly recommend them. read more

Tyson came out and quickly determined the leak was not coming from the joint but rather from somewhere above. So now there was a mystery leak hidden behind the walls somewhere between the third floor and the basement. He suspected the pipe to be behind and certain section of wall on the middle floor and thought maybe a nail could be the culprit and checked to see if we had anything nailed to the wall, we didn't. So he had to pick a section of wall to cut behind to check and on his first try found the pipe and showed me exactly where the previous owner put a nail through the toilet drain pipe. I was originally concerned we'd have to open many walls and ceilings to find it and I'm still wondering how he found it so quickly. He also answered a ton of my questions.

The only gripe is that they left a lot of trash and residual foil and scrap pieces of the old ac up there. It was a pretty tidy space so it was noticeable and a little disappointed that they would leave parts and trash up there. I would say give them a call for service or new installation, but ask them to remove any trash and leave the place somewhat cleaned up. You pay a lot of money to replace a whole system and to find the space messy left a poor taste. It could've been an excellent service, but an oversight in minor details made it mediocre.
