He showed me that the capacitor was testing low, the contactor was worn and pitted, and even performed a megger test on the compressor to verify it was still healthy. After the repairs, he confirmed everything was working properly by showing me the compressor amperage had dropped back to normal and that the system had an 18-degree temperature split. Keon was patient with all of my questions and never made me feel rushed. He explained the pros and cons of the recommended repairs, including the hard-start kit, so I could make an informed decision instead of feeling pressured. Their technician came out and found that my mom's air vents were these wooden type slats and were simply closed causing no flow on the rooms. He was honest and confirmed to me that's all it was. He arrived on time and had a great attitude from the start. He was patient and willing to listen to all of my concerns, answer my questions, and discuss different alternatives. Before leaving, he provided a detailed quote with different payment options, which made it easy to understand the choices available to me. I requested the consultation because I was experiencing water hammering when using multiple fixtures. Since diagnosing water hammering can involve a process of elimination to determine the underlying cause, I received different opinions and recommendations from the plumbers I consulted. Jazz recommended installing a new water hammer arrestor along with a washing machine box. One thing I especially appreciated about Joe's explanation was Jazz's no-frustration guarantee. As it was explained to me, if additional issues arose during the repair process, Jazz would address them at no additional cost. My primary hesitation with moving forward was that installing the new washing machine box could require cutting into the wall. I was advised that Jazz would replace the drywall, but I would need to hire someone else to finish the mudding and painting. I understand that this may be standard practice in the industry, so I don't consider it a negative reflection on Jazz. It is simply an additional project that I am not interested in taking on at this time. Since then, they've serviced the almost 22 year old system at my home, nursing it along. With each semi-annual "check-up" service, they advised me on what I needed to do, and what could wait. When funds were tight, they suggested stopgaps to help. Because of this history, when Alex showed me that my heater was leeching carbon monoxide into my home, I knew I could trust him. While I waited for my appointment, I was provided with space heaters gratis. This IS an independently owned business, and they treat customers like family. Ozzy (Osvaldo) and Anthony installed a new heat pump and air conditioner for me last week. They were at my home three days. Not only were they professional, friendly, and polite, they were also respectful of my home--taking time EVERY day to cover my carpeted areas, covering their boots as they came into and exited the house, and cleaning up any installation debris before they left each day. Ozzy and Anthony discovered that a part of the original system was not going to work as efficiently with the new system (the dampers) given the difference in the size. Ozzy explained the difference to me, noted the cost, and the pros and cons. He didn't pressure me to upgrade the items but he made sure I had enough information to make a decision. At the end of the installation, Ozzy took the time to show me how to use the new digital thermostat controls and gave me tips on how to use the system economically. He provided me information on how to follow up if there were ever any problems. Just like other times, Vic called a few days later to see how things were going (I missed the call, but still...so so kind and thoughtful). It's a lot of money to replace your entire HVAC system, no matter which company you use, but hiring one where you know you can trust the company. Last Fall (or was it the year before?) our furnace stopped working, and I called Cali HVAC for service. They sent Oleg fairly quickly, and he did a good job repairing it; in fact, he proved himself to be very conscientious when, after replacing a circuit board that fixed the problem, he didn't like the way one part on the board was oriented, so he came back and replaced that board with a different one that fit better. He could have left it as is, since it was working, and I probably never would have known. In addition to fixing the problem pretty quickly, Oleg was also very informative and polite, answering all questions with patience and no attitudes.
