If I could give zero stars, I would. I'm writing this on behalf of my elderly mother, the homeowner, because I've been handling everything for her. This company has caused nothing but stress and frustration from start to finish. First, there was no clear pricing disclosed upfront -- not before they sent a technician, not when we scheduled, and not before the work started. The agreement was handed to me after the technician arrived, which is not informed consent. For less than 30 minutes of work, they sent me a bill for nearly $2,000, including an after-hours charge even though the technician showed up around 2 PM. Then, after weeks of back-and-forth, they offered a so-called "good faith" discount, bringing it down a bit -- but suddenly added a $100 fee just for generating the report and a $76 credit card processing fee when I paid over the phone. Every time I turned around, there was another charge. I do want to be fair and mention Rachel in accounting. She genuinely tried to help, and I appreciate her patience. But the real issue here is management. They've made it painfully clear that this company cares far more about squeezing every possible dollar than about doing right by their customers. And one more thing -- when you see all the glowing 5-star reviews, read them with caution. Based on my experience, I honestly question how many of them are authentic. My experience with Air Tech Environmental, initially contacted through Xact Restoration for a water damage claim, took an unexpected and exorbitant turn. While their initial intervention was straightforward, paid directly by the insurance company, the situation subsequently became more complicated. Concerns about possible mold prompted Air Tech to pay a visit, with Xact Restoration under the impression that it would be a free inspection. However, this resulted in my brother, the homeowner, inadvertently authorizing services of which he was not fully aware, due to his post-stroke recovery status. The real surprise came with the bill: a staggering $700 for the visit alone, plus additional costs for lab samples, which totaled an unreasonable $1,250. This was especially outrageous considering that at no time did we ever request or contact Air Tech directly for further asbestos testing. Our communication records - devoid of calls or emails to Air Tech - attest to the fact that we never requested these services. Their insistence on charging us for unsolicited services, especially at such inflated rates, is not only unwarranted, but also raises serious questions about their business practices and transparency. My restoration company recommended Air-Tech Environmental to check for mold / asbestos after I had a severe water damage in my bathroom. The person doing the testing was very professional and did it in less than two hours. Air-Tech Environmental sent me a detailed explanation of the findings once the testing was complete. Unfortunately, my insurance company refused to pay for the entire bill, after telling me that the claim would be approved. I have to pay a significant portion of the bill out of pocket. A water leak in a tenant's apartment in the middle of the night, while I am living 500 miles away, led me to AirTech. They were highly professional, timely and considered in providing the intervention that was needed to help me calm down over this incident which was totally out of my control. They handled the matter with care, consideration and respect for the tenants. Great service; helpful and competent technicians. Since this became an insurance claim, I have had nothing but trouble with the insurance, but AirTech has been most patient and supportive while I was dealing with the insurance. My experience with Air-Tech Environmental has been excellent. They have been quick to respond to emails or phone calls and one does not have to go through long voice prompts -- there is a live person who takes the calls and every one has been knowledgeable. They assisted me with historical information needed to get a permit for remodeling. They are professional, courteous and helpful. HIghly recommend them. I had a plumbing leak in my garage right after Christmas and before New Year. My remediation company recommended Air-Tech. They sent a technician out the next morning to take samples. He was on time and explained what he would be doing and what he was testing for. The results were sent next day to the remediation company. The woman who scheduled the appointment was very nice and Rachel with billing has been super helpful trying to deal with my insurance company. Even though we knew our 1984 condo didn't have asbestos, it was required by our HOA to get tested for asbestos.
