Project: Install a Central Air Conditioning System Julie and Ryan Coppens were both very professional and pleasant to speak to. I live in Salinas, Ca. and I had to decide over the phone who would work at my moms house. Ryan was heaven sent and a blessing. Not only does Ryan take pride in his work and is very knowledgeable he is honest, caring, thoughtful, thorough, pays attention to detail and clean. Ryan doesn't sell you what you don't need and explains his process to you as he works. Ryan kept me informed by calling me until I arrived in town 48 hours after hiring him over the phone. AirTight Air, Inc is excellent, honest, and reliable. That applies to both Ryan Coppens and his wife, Julie Coppens. Ryan handles the technical side and Julie handles the administrative side. At the beginning of the bid process, Ryan and we determined what we needed for a replacement for our 25-year old HVAC system. Ryan conducted an evaluation, took pictures , and discussed the available options. Subsequently he and Julie provided a proposal and draft contract which included details of the new HVAC equipment and the actions required to remove the old system and install the new system. The contract also included what was expected of us and AirTight Air, Inc. We then requested additional information concerning costs of equipment, labor, and profit margin to support the bid. Ryan provided the information with no objection. (Note: one other bidder would not provide similar information.) Based on what Ryan had provided we made some adjustments to the contract, which was provided securely for signature via DocuSign. Air Tight Air, Inc was not the lowest bidder, but they provided data to support their bid for a quality job. One lower bidders did not do so. Ryan conducted the work as agreed to and even made some improvements to what remained of the old system. All of this was documented in photos which we reviewed everyday during the work period. In summary AirTightAir, Inc is very professional, documents everything to be done in a very thorough contract, and is responsive to all inquiries. Since Ryan does all the HVAC work himself, there is no large company to deal with where typically you might see different workers throughout the process. I contracted with Airtight Air to replace my existing HVAC in my primary residence back in February 2025. Ryan, the owner, will actually do all the work without any employees. He explained all aspects of the contract and spelled out several procedures that he does that go above and beyond the normal process. I have previous experience as the owner / builder of my primary residence where I hired a dozen contractors to accomplish the work. All the contractors used employees to do the construction. Ryan sets himself apart in the fact that he takes great pride in his workmanship. One example is when he went into the attic to inspect the refrigerant line set and ducting. The attic in my home is only a three foot high space throughout. He started at the primary bedroom and followed the line set all the way to the garage. He returned about an hour later with pictures of the line set and ducting. His knowledge, experience, and attention to detail are outstanding. Ryan cleaned the line set at least three times to remove the mineral oil because it does not mix with the new synthetic oil that is used in current AC units. Damage can occur to the compressor if the line set is not thoroughly cleaned. Lastly, Ryan is very friendly and easy to communicate with. He is the best contractor that I have every hired. Ryan with AirTight Air went way out his way, I can not give him enough praise. On Aug 9th 2018 our Air Conditioning went out in our house (One of the hottest months) I called a few A/C companies to get estimates, 2 of them called back, one was Ryan (within 10 min). He was out here within the hour, checked everything out and we found out the ac unit was bad, it was 22 years old.. We ordered a new system, Great Price also. Ryan was able to get the unit the next day. He worked through the weekend to get it done, asked if I minded if he stayed late, I said no not at all do what you have to do.. I would highly recommend Ryan and AirTight Air for many reasons including flexibility in setting up initial appointment, provided a detailed explanation of what would need to be done to fully upgrade and replace my AC/Furnace units, and was willing to install when it was convenient for me and my family. We were able to agree on a fair price and Ryan also threw in a few extras because of a change in price from the initial quote. (He more than made up for the difference). Ryan was a very honest person and decided to stay and work late to get the job done, he was even willing to come back on a Sunday to finish the job. Our project was completed on August 2nd. Loving our new HVAC system and set up! We really had a positive experience dealing with Julie and Ryan from start to finish of our project. They're a great team! Ryan is very detailed and worked extended hours to make sure that our new AC is up and running in 48 hours. He spent long hours in the attic even though it was over 100 degrees! May of 2019: Ryan was recommended to us by our neighbor. Our air conditioner was freezing up and we live in Temecula where it is really hot in the summer. We contacted an air conditioner company and two sales men came out and told us we would need a whole new everything for like $20,000, we were like what the heck. People don't just have that type of money laying around. Then our neighbor said call AirTight Air, so we did and Ryan came that same day after all his other work he had, showed up about 4pm-5pm. He didn't try to sell us a whole new unit, we told him we just needed to get through this summer with what we had, and he was amazing. He worked for hours on it and didn't charge us an arm and a leg, and the whole thing worked perfectly the whole summer. Our air went out on Sunday, July 15th, I had made an appt. for Ryan to come out on Wednesday, but he called on Tuesday to see if I'd be available to have him come over that evening...of course you can! It was determined our system needed to be replaced. We had a quote on a new system the next day. Since replacing a system is a big deal, I called around, and I tried to get a few more quotes, but ultimately I went with AirTight Air for this reason, "Customer Service." I have worked in customer service for years, and there is something to be said for someone who does what he says, keeps you informed and stands behind his company. He does the work himself because it means something to him to ensure the work is done right. I would highly recommend AirTight and here's why. Ryan is the person who called me when I requested a quote. He explained in layman terms exactly what he would come out and do. He said he would check the coolness of the air coming out was. And, clean the air conditioning unit, and the clean the filter. And, other companies didn't explain anything, rather they were trying to sell me a new type ofl air unit. He was thorough and prompt. Ryan was outstanding and his work was even better! I replaced my aging dual system HVAC. This was a fairly big job being two systems. Ryan keep a open communications the whole way and showed me lots of pictures as work progressed, it was nice to see someone take as much pride in his work as he did. Ryan came the following morning and did a thorough diagnostic and discovered a faulty capacitor in the condenser unit and a low gas charge.
