A week after my husband passed away I needed to replace my furnace on November, it was November and cold. On December, the next month, my furnace stop, they said that I run out of oil, we put oil right away and the furnace did not start...we were 5 days....40 degrees the max and 22 degrees at night, we were freezing! We had another 2 issues, the first one it took them 1 week to replace the part, the second issue is still going on...it's 7 degrees outside, 34 degrees in my house, I call them Friday, today is Tuesday, no heat in the house and they still did not order the part, which is the box that put the furnace to work....the service, at least for the furnace is horrible, and the customer service is just as bad!This is a brand new furnace, ridiculous!!! read more

Unfortunately, after spending probably close to $20k with AJ Perri over the years and paying for their elite customer program, I have had the worst, most dismissive experience ever as a customer. AJ Perri came out to inspect my air conditioner in April for preparation for the warmer weather. They said everything was working perfectly. Yesterday (two months later), my air conditioner cut out entirely on the hottest day of the year and the indoor temperature jumped to above 85 degrees. I made an appointment with AJ Perri and they said they would be out between 6 and 10pm the same day. By 8:25pm, I had heard nothing from them, so I called to confirm they were still coming out and they said they were. I heard nothing an hour later, so I called again at 9:25pm and they confirmed someone would be here and their dispatch team would call me back. I didn't hear back for 15 minutes, so I called again at 9:41pm. Again, they said I was on their schedule and their dispatch team would be calling me back. At 10:01pm, I had still heard nothing and called and asked to speak to a supervisor. At that time, they told me they couldn't reach anyone and no one would be coming out. They rescheduled me for 2-6pm the following day. Our house dropped down to 80 degrees at night and we slept with wet towels on ourselves to stay cool. Today, at 12:14pm, I called AJ Perri again to ensure someone would show up this time. They confirmed I was on the schedule again and that someone would arrive between 2 and 6pm. I heard nothing after that and called back at 3:54pm to ensure someone would be coming out to fix our issue. I was placed on hold and transferred for nearly 20 minutes until I was told that no one was available and they could reschedule me for Friday. When I asked why I kept getting pushed back in the queue, they had no answer. When I asked why no one contacted me, they had no answer. When I asked why I paid for their elite program only to have my air conditioner break down anyway and then receive no expedited service, they had no answer. When I asked to speak with a supervisor or manager, I was told that the customer support staff wasn't able to reach any of them and that they didn't really know what was going on. I will absolutely never use AJ Perri again and will make sure that family, friends and neighbors understand what a terrible experience this has been. read more

I am so disappointed in AJ Perri. I have been a customer for years, even had them replace my HVAC recently but the customer service is appalling. This is the second time they show a complete lack of interest in a loyal customer. Everything is fine when you pay and things work out the way that fits their process but as soon as you have a problem, they go silent and nobody is responsible. Last year it took me almost a dozen emails and phone calls to get documentation of their service, no follow ups, nobody was responsible. This year, they had an HVAC maintenance appointment at our vacation home and the technician (for the first time in eight years) decided he needed the owner present to during service and just left. What is worse, they didn't even call or email me, I just learned about it when the HOA informed me that I didn't complete the maintenance requirements. I called customer service, no apology, stating that this had always been their policy (not true), no explanation, on supervisor available and they graciously offered me that I could try to call them back again the next day. - I can't think of a worse way to treat your customers. They are not cheap and without customer service, there must be better options. I will not be getting service or replacing any appliances or water heater with AJ Perri, and neither should you if you want a company that values their customers. read more

ABORT MISSION! i am not surprised to see they have a 1.7 rating as i sit down to write an awful review. in 2023 our heat broke on the coldest day of the year and aj perri came out and after 3 technicians tried to decipher the problem they told us we needed a whole new boiler unit. i was 36 weeks pregnant so of course my husband told them to do what they needed to do. $27,000 later and 2 years later our heat breaks yet again on the coldest day of the year (literally 0 degrees). not to mention the destruction they made replacing our unit, but that's another story. i call to see if they could come out and look at it, lady on the phone tells me "your boilers covered for 10 years so that's not a problem our guy will be there between 8 & 12 tomorrow"technician didn't show up til 10 minutes til 12, was here for 20 minutes and didn't know what the problem was and said they were going to have a warranty technician come out and they would call me with a time when they would be coming back. i go to pick up my son from school and they call to tell me a technicians at my poor i was like sir no one communicated when your technician would be coming back ill be home in 20 minutes, they ask if id like to reschedule to which i replied "no, i have no heat and i have 2 small children. i waited almost 4 hours this morning i think your guy can wait 20 minutes" i get home and the technician was a saint. figured out what the issue was right away but he also tells me its not covered under my warranty. i pick up my phone to call a j perri myself while he calls his supervisor from his phone. his supervisor answers promptly and tells him its covered (bad zone valve). supervisor calls back 2 minutes later and says now its not covered so i get on the phone with this dude and i went offff! i said how do i have a BRAND NEW $27,000 boiler system put in, somethings already not working properly and its not covered under my TEN year warranty. apparently this specific piece is not covered under warranty so i asked how much this would be to be fixed... $600. i said "my dude if you bought a $27,000 car and 2 years later your transmission blew how would you feel?" he said giggling "not gonna lie id be pissed" i said "1) this is F'ing funny. 2) this is a 27,000 unit - why is it broken? 3) you should make your warranty crystal clear to your sales reps . dude hangs up while i call my husband to tell him what's going on and simultaneous jake from state farm (supervisor) calls back the technician and asks to put me on the phone. jake proceeds to tell me they'll replace it for $300 and i ask about warranty - he said they can only give me a year warranty on this specific part. i said so 1 year an 1 day later it breaks, i have to deal with this all over again? i was fuming! $300 for a part that if you google is inly $80 and they're charging people $600. the technician was sweet as pie and i found out he does his own heating services as a side business so he gave me his card for future issues. What a great first impression! Scheduled an appointment to get a quote, and right at the appointment time-perfect timing-they called to cancel and reschedule. Fast forward to the new date, and just when I thought they might actually show up, they waited until the very end of the time window to cancel. Again. Really impressive commitment to wasting my time. Do not hire this company. We hired them to install a new AC unit in 2023. They did, but it broke down the next season, 2024. After waiting 2 weeks for service, they did repair it. Now, 2025, the unit breaks down again. After waiting 15 days, a serviceman came and said "yup, its not working " , after running zero tests, he wrote it up as a bad compressor. Expecting them to replace the compressor, since we have a 10 year warranty, only to find out that they cannot get a new compressor for the unit they installed for 60 days. All they offered was a small compensation for window units we needed to purchase. They are refusing to replace an obviously defective unit. My husband had said the part was very common ( an igniter). He spent at least 1/2 hour in his van. Ostensibly, looking for this part, but when he came in he stunk of cigarette smoke and breathe mints. This service call should have taken NO MORE than 30 minutes. He stalled and when he left he sat in his van for another 20 minutes so he could return at 5pm to the office. and charge more for the service call. I am outraged at the bill for such a minor call. $495. You should all be ashamed . terrible experience with a technician Moe in Hudson county NJ, he's terrible and very arrogant, when he saw the boiler unit he doesn't know enough, he first started to blame the brand which is a very good efficient boiler maker in Japan. he quickly gave out wrong information and looked annoyed when I started to look at the boiler maker's information and had other friend on the phone to help out. Later, he suggested me to pay him $1500-$2000 for him to open up the unit for further diagnose but without knowing any fixable problem, with my decline, he asked me for $375 instead of $129 for diagnose fee agreed upon with the Company. I started to call their company then he backed off, claiming only charge me $129 . I asked to speak to his manager to complain about his poor diagnose technical skills, he wrongly reported to his manager that $2500-$3000 is needed for further diagnose, instead of $1500-$2000 he discussed with me. Otherwise, he told me to replace my only 5 year old unit , which is so poor idea to many other hvac pros. so this guy has no idea what he's talking about and I had a bad experience with this firm. the quality and value is definitely low, and his service is terrible. read more

AJ Perri is not the company I first started dealing with years ago. Against my better judgement, my husband contracted with them for yearly A/C Maintenace. The tech came and after almost 2.5 hours told us we had a plethora of things wrong with our system which BTW is only 13 years old. We were quoted 11K for repairs. I refused to sign off on the repairs and called another Carrier dealer to give a second opinion. Second opinion obtained- 105.00 to say that unit shows normal wear for age and location and that they didn't feel the 11K was warranted. This is the SECOND time AJ Perri told us we needed repairs on something that just wasn't true. I feel that they try to upsell every job and frankly sometimes don't know what they are doing. It takes a lot for me to shame a business publicly, but I want to warn all of you as to the deceptive business practices that The Home Depot and AJ Perri are engaging in. I called both entities multiple times and sent emails and both have refused to return the calls. My AC was running hot a few weeks ago. It was during the first heat spell, and I needed a quick recharge (or so I thought) of the coolant for the Central Air. What I didn't know at that point was that my 20-year-old unit uses R22, which is a coolant that is not produced any longer. It was actually replaced by another coolant which has also been banned. The age and make of the unit alone would identify for the technician that it's an R22 cooled unit or that it was run by the replacement coolant which is also banned. Well, Home Depot promised to have someone there the next day. AJ Perri took info on the phone and asked the make and age of the unit. I asked specifically if they could recharge it and was promised that they could. The technician showed up on time and looked at the unit and said: "We cannot recharge R22 units. Sorry. Your only option is to replace. Let me get the Home Depot AC Sales team on the phone." This was simply being used as a lead to take advantage of a desperate consumer. Despite all of the above, they charged me $138 for the "Repair Service Visit" AJ Perri KNEW was pointless. It's not a lot of money, but it's reprehensible. AJ Perri knew on the phone that it could not repair this. Home Depot directs AJ Perri to go anyway and sell a new unit. To charge for the "Service call" is tantamount to unconscionable business practices and I encourage all of you to share this. I wish I had the resources to start a class action. Had AJ Perri told me that on the phone and offered to send a salesperson instead, I would have taken the meeting. Oh, by the way, the tech was wrong and it's not illegal to use R22 if you can find it, which I did...so it's fixed. I imagine that this business model extends to all of Home Depot's "repair" services and fear that many have been and will be taken advantage of by this deception. Not only didn't you get my business for the new AC unit, The Home Depot, you lost all of the business I gave you for everything else. Wrong guy to ignore. Here endeth the lesson... read more

Two hours into the schedule window. We call. We got told - ohh we have to reschedule. We were going to send you an email. They gave us a window of 12 - 4 PM yesterday. I called at 2 PM to make sure they were still coming. I got ohh we have to reschedule. Again no call to let us know. No nothing. They said they would talk to a supervisor. But by that time I had ZERO faith in them. Then called C & C Air and someone came to fix the unit by 530 PM. I looked on yelp and saw this was a pattern in the last month. I went with them to replace my oil to gas furnace, after they left I smelled gas, I called the following morning at 7 am, they said someone would be out between noon and 4, they did not show up until after 8 pm and said no problem found. Opened all windows and closed them the following morning gas smell came back and I called elizabethtown gas they came out within 1/2 hour and found a cracked elbow pipe installed! Two people came to "fix" our heat and two people came to give us an estimate to replace our boiler. After four appointments, we still had no heat. The first repair tech got the heat going and offered very good advice and support. However, the heat stopped working within two hours of him leaving. I called and was told they would send someone that evening. The appointment was then promptly canceled, as they had no available techs in the area. They assured me that someone would be out the next day. Someone came, but he was there to give an estimate on a new heating system, not to repair the problem. He assured me that someone would come the next day and someone did. We were told that  a $400 part would cost over $2500 to install. My husband installed it himself and repaired the problem. Another representative from the company came to give us an estimate to replace the boiler to the tune of almost $20,000! AJ Perri has been relentless with follow-up phonecalls and texts to the point of annoyance. It seems that they are more determined to install a new system than to have repaired the current one. Complete scam. My furnace was fine. They came to perform routine service. Next thing my pilot is out and no heat. Call them back and this guy lights the pilot but tells me he smells gas. Call PSEG. PSEG says the pilot tubing is leaking. I find this interesting since it was fine before AN Peri touched my boiler. They also quoted me $600 for a thermocouple. $1600 for a gas valve and said I have a heat exchange crack. PSEG found no crack at all. What picture were they showing me? A fake one? PSEG laughed at the pricing and said they charge far less. Now I'm paying a plumber to fix the pilot tubing and check the entire boiler. These guys need to go. I will never let them back in my house and honestly they should pay for the repairs since I'm convinced they messed with the pilot tubing. On Saturday the first guy mentioned nothing about a gas smell. It just happened after he left? I'm not paying them a dime and no one should let them in their homes! read more

I had a problem with my AC and called A.J. Perri. They were initially very responsive and after checking out my situation said we had to replace the unit which was very costly, but seemed necessary. After the install, the system kept breaking down every few days - the same issue I'd had with the previous system. AJ Perri would send a tech but they only ever did quick fixes and never addressed the root problem. Once they'd charged me, their quick responses and helpful tone was replaced by long wait time on hold, missed appointments, and unreturned calls. Whenever I'd get someone on the phone, I'd have to re-explain my situation from scratch because no one was keeping track of the issue or building a file. Despite my concerns, they just kept repeating the same mistakes. I finally insisted that a senior tech was sent out and he realized that the problem was a simple blown breaker which I hired an electrician to fix. I did NOT need a new system but AJ Perri had sold me one without doing a proper diagnosis of the issue. Since then they have stopped returning my calls and their quality assurance team has been impossible to get a hold of. They have been incredible unhelpful in solving this problem or helping to rectify the situation. I would not recommend AJ Perri. Once they get the (costly) money from you, they forget about you. We paid more than $700 to A.J. Perry to do the following tasks on 9/27/2024. Unclog the clogged main drainpipe with plumber's snake by pulling up the toilet and put the toilet back to the original condition afterwords. This is to be by a plumber. Provide 30 days guarantee after opening the main drain. Check and report the condition of the main drainpipe with camera, by another technician. However, the two technicians from A.J. Perry reported completely opposite results on the same day. The plumber said the clog issue is resolved and then charged us more than $700; the technician in charge of the camera said it is still clogged and recommended replacement of the main pipe with two options (each with estimate of thousands of dollars). The camera technician was in fact very impatient, and did not spend much time diagnosing and viewing the image in the main pipe. After a couple of minutes, he started to sell his main drain line replacement plans to us which costs thousands of dollars. We felt that we paid extra dollars just to get an estimate on hefty priced main drainpipe replacement plans. We paid full price on 9/27. After that, A.J. Perry didn't keep the promise to put the toilet back. After camera technician completed the diagnose on 9/27, AJ Perry told us another plumber will come to put the toilet back. After we followed up, we were told that the plumber will come in the next morning on 9/28. After we call 3 times on 9/28, no plumber came to put the toilet back and no one even notified us that no one would come on 9/28. I compliant to A.J. Perry, who promised again that a plumber will come next day on 9/29 8 am - 12 pm time window. No surprise at all! No plumber showed up and still no one notified us at all on 9/29. This is the worst experience we've ever had. A.J. Perry charged us but didn't complete the job and also tried to mislead customer. AJ Perry claims to have 100% satisfaction guarantee. As a customer, satisfaction rate is 0% based on above experience. read more

I do not recommend this company at all. I had a clogged drain. The plumber came out. I cannot even share the ridiculous other actions of the plumber. He finally comes upstairs to see whether the toilet is. He looks at it and states I cannot do anything with this. He states that the vent on the roof is probably with an animal in it. He leaves since he cannot go on the roof and will reschedule. I called AAA Advanced Plumbing, and John Lyman arrived. Goes to the fixture. Asks if any of the other fixtures in the bathroom are clogged, I said no. John said he knows what can be done. He cleared the clog and advised that if it clogs in 30 days, call them back. I called the quality assurance number 732 982-8700 and was taken to the same number I called for the appointments. No manager no quality assurance. Scheduled an appointment for repair with a technician on the Friday before July 4th weekend because my AC stopped cooling the house. Technician arrived extremely late in the evening and performed a short-term repair after explaining to me that the whole system needed to be replaced and quoting me an outrageous sum. I agreed to the $700 stopgap measure of a short-term repair to keep the house cool over the long weekend as I assessed my options. After the technician left and the system ran for several hours, we noticed that it still was not cooling the house at all. We called CS the next day and the person who answered was combative, accusatory and unhelpful. We complied with AJ Perri's refund policy from our receipt that stated if we were not satisfied, we could send in a letter asking for a refund. We sent certified mail asking to be refunded since we were not satisfied and received confirmation that the company received it, but we were not refunded. Avoid AJ Perri at all costs, dishonest and unhelpful. This company just wants to rip you off. read more

We've been using A J Perry for our HVAC service, so it seemed to make sense that we would call for plumbing as well. Anyway, we had a leak in a small valve where the water line connects to the toilet. Not a major repair and I could have done it only I'm not as nimble and flexible as I once was. Plumber was here for about 20 minutes and used one adjustable wrench. The valve was probably worth about 25 dollars. in the end I paid them over 500 bucks for this. In my view, this was way overpriced for what he did and the length of time he was here. I won't use them again. The lady in their ad says "I love those guys". I can't begin to imagine why. AJ Perri I purchased 2 units on 06/26/21 for over 30k from this company. They were supposed to be 18 Seer, 2 speed (top of the line) units- one 3ton and one 5 ton heat pumps. Within 12 hours of installation both compressors burnt out due to faulty installation. (The serviceman failed to vent the nitrogen from the lines.) I spent OVER A MONTH in the summer without air conditioning, waiting for them to come back and replace the compressors on these "brand new" units. Only after I stopped payment on the check did they come back to inspect the issue. When they came out they said they were going to replace the first floor compressor, but the 2nd "wasn't quite burnt out" yet. I insisted they replace both. Supposedly they did. Within a week of them "replacing the the compressors", the systems started to shut down. We found out this was due to condensation from freezing coils from low pressure freon. They had to replace the main lines due to leaks. The problem persisted. They came out again and spent 8 hrs reinstalling the 1st floor unit and this seemed to resolve the problem, however the service man informed me at that point that the 2nd fl unit compressor was blown. Two service calls later, they finally agreed to replace the 2nd floor compressor, but this was 5 months ago and I have not seen them. Every time I call, I'm told that the parts are on backorder. During this disaster of a purchase installation, more alarming issues occurred, such as: I discovered that they had failed to create an access point for a filter. They also failed to install a filter or even tell me about it. We found out that the thermostat they installed was working off of my broiler and this prevented the baseboard heat from working. When I researched the units they installed, I found out I actually had 15 seer units which wasn't what we agreed upon. I've finally decided to contact my lawyer and make others aware of my experience with AJ Perri. I bought 3 furnaces for two homes from A.J.Perri between 8-11 years ago. I was receiving a message on my nest that there was an issue. I had A.J.Perri make a service call where I was told that I would need one furnace right away (it was Jan.) and another one soon. Mind you, my house was heating up fine. The quote was for $15K for two furnaces. I called another company to get a second opinion; nothing but changing a filter was wrong. I waited to write this review to make sure I had heat and now, June, air conditioning, I do. A.J.Perri refunded their service call fee. I requested the $179. fee that I incurred for the second opinion but they would not reimburse that; so glad I obtained that second opinion, no matter what the cost was. A.J.Perri did not return my calls when I asked to speak with a Supervisor, I was told that someone would reach out to me but that did not happen, even after follow-up. read more

We had A.J. Perri install our air conditioner and furnace 3 years ago. It's under warranty. It stopped working last week, I called and they couldn't come to fix it for 4days. I understood that. They were scheduled to come on Monday between 2-6. At 5pm I called to get an ETA they said we were still on the schedule. At 6;30 no one called me so I called again and they said it might be late probably around 7pm. I called 7, then 8, then 9:30. No one called me, no one showed up that day and the next day. No one EVER called me. Tuesday I wanted to speak to a manager they said no one was available to talk to me. I'm still waiting for a call back. Total non starter for a hot water heater replacement; I'm taking my business elsewhere! They start by demanding all my info just to get any info back on what brand(s) they install and to "explain how they work" to my question about whether they charge for an estimate. Like pulling teeth I got 1 possible brand but nothing on the quality/level of models used (i.e. asking about professional line vs. say a low end model bought at home depot). I won't put up with this nonsense and waste of my time to see if they are even worth either of our time to come out to my home for an estimate. read more

I was given a much bigger unit than needed. Options were not provided for me. I had to replace the entire A/C unit, condenser and return. They were able to put the return up in the attic, which was great. They were professional, quiet, clean. I have no issue with their work. HOWEVER, I was charged $137.55 for the initial visit, which I was told would be deducted the total cost (almost $16K). It may seem petty, but it's a question of prinicple. I called and pointed this out, and was told several times, that the refund was approved and they were "working on it" My service was performed on May 29, 2024. Today is July 23, 2024. Every time I call they tell me someone will get back to me. I feel like I was scammed. Because of this, I would not recommend them. They lie and stall. Do not use AJ Perri. I live in Greenbriar and felt like they try to take advantage of senior citizens. They gave me a cost on the phone for a diagnosis and told me it would be included in the cost of any work that I had done to fix the problem. That is not what happened and the tech was condescending. When I called the company to speak with someone concerning the cost I had to go through a call center and leave a message. Here I am 2 weeks later no call back. It's no wonder they have a 1 star rating with almost 700 reviews. I will also file a complaint with the state. read more
