My tenant complained that there were no hot air came from the register of bedrooms in upstairs. So I first had a technician from A.J, Perri checked the A/C system and told me that he could do nothing but to replace the furnace. This technician spoke like a businessman and seems very non-professional. That's why I set up another arrangement for diagnosis with Elite Air. The technician from Elite Air was very honest. The technician checked the A/C system and found that the damper to upstairs was shut off. He fixed the issue and charged me $167, including $89 trip fee. BTW, both companies charge $89+tax for trip fee. read more

I am writing this review after an year , as I got a call from them for a follow up. Last year , I called in to look at my A/C. The technician ( !) came and looked at it and immediately said "My unit is underpowered" and I have to increase the capacity to 4 ton. He was in my house for 85 minutes ; Out of those 85 minutes , he was doing more sales talk and less repair / troubleshooting . He was giving me coupons for this and that. I checked his suggestion with few others , their response was unanimous . "My unit was correct one for my house ". If I go for bigger unit , I will have lot more problems , Condensation , molds due to that. I called their office and complained . They seem to care less. I have to wonder how this criminal company manages to stay in business and out of jail. They gave me a quote of $5,700 to replace a 50 gallon water heater! Can you believe that? A water heater!!!! "Oh sir, but that's with our extended warranty which we highly advise." (Barf -Gag) I was then offered a "deal" with only a 1 year warranty at $4,100 which is about $3,200 more than the cost of the water heater to be installed. I told the technician he was insane and told him to leave. I had the job done by another licensed plumber for $1600 plus $80 for the permit. By all means, AVOID this company. The problem here is it's not against the law to overcharge, although it IS to claim there's issues when none exist. And I'm sure this is also an AJ Perri Specialty. Regardless, the company who originally bought them out years ago, that owned many other HVAC businesses has since been bought out by a hedge fund of some kind whose only goal is to generate as much profit as possible from each job. We had a new tankless water heater installed in March. It has leaked ever since. They have come to our home 9 times to fix it. Always with a different reason why it wasn't working properly. It has ruined my carpet in my finished basement as well as affected my plans to install wainscoating because there is no point in moving forward with a. Construction project while this system is still leaking. Finally today they said they are sending a supervisor. A supervisor should have been sent after the third call of the leak, not the 9th! They are always nice when I call but their techs are not as skilled as they claim. I am totally fed up with this ongoing issue. I'm finally taking to social media to convey my frustration. I decided to get a second estimate to replace our rusted out 75 gal. hot water heater. My usual heating & a/c guy quoted us $1800 for a new tank or $1800 for a tankless hot water system. When the AJ Perri guy gave me his estimate, it was $3600 for a 75 gal. hot water heater or $7100 for the exact same tankless hot water heater that my heating & a/c guy is installing as I type this review. Why would anyone use AJ Perri when their prices are so exorbitant? My son lives in Jackson, and had a very similar experience. I'll never call AJ Perri again, I'll stick with my much more reasonable alternatives. read more

They came out for an A/C spring tune-up for my two units, but really all the guy did was checking the current of all motors. Ultimately he concluded that my fan motors were running at a too high current, which was attributed to the age of the whole system. Also, both my contactors seem to have been a worn. Finally he quoted me on replacing both fan motors and both contactors: about $3,000.00. In words: Three thousand!!! That's insane. Of course I refused, looked up the parts myself online: all together less than $300. So, really? They charge $2,700.00 for labor?!? Long story short: Bought the items online and installed them myself (yes, a little research online was required for correct wiring) in less an hour. So, ultimately I might agree that they are somewhat useful for checking your system, but no way in hell have them ever do any repairs. Their prices are just ridiculous. And definitely do not fall for their pushy sales pitch once they present you with their quotes. Doing my own research, purchase and installation, I paid $300 for materials and maybe 2h of my life. Avoid at all costs. Our AC broke just in time for the weekend heatwave. Turns out we need the furnace/AC replaced. After the $89 service charge a salesman showed up to give us an estimate. Wanted to charge us $16K which is almost double the price of anyone in the area. He said they could do the install the next day or the day after. My husband told him over the phone we needed to discuss it and get a few more estimates, etc. After they hung up he said I needed to talk to my husband again NOW because once he left I won't see him again. He also informed me (before storming out of my house) that we won't be able to schedule anyone else until August. We have someone doing the install this week for almost half the price he quoted. The first time I had a dealing with AJ Perri, I had a furnace installed. Good service, but the most expensive plumbing and heating service on GOD's earth. My next dealing was in November of 2015. I purchased another home and called AJ Perri in to service the furnace. I paid for the service and was talked into speaking with a salesman. I WOUND UP REPLACING THE FURNACE and the Air Conditioning unit at a cost of $18,000.00. Their service is good but you should have a hefty bankroll if you plan to deal with them. I called AJ Perri for a clog kitchen sink. The guy came and did a shitty job using the drum auger. Went down to the basement where the kitchen sink pipe located and claim the pipe was the issue and quote me around $1400 for the job to fixed it. I told him I would think about it but had to pay for the $99 plus tax for the service call. I went to home depot that same day and bought my self Ridgid 1/4 in. x 25 ft. Power Spin for around $40 and did the unclogging myself. It did the job and do not need any piping work. Clearly this guy was trying to squeeze money out of my situation. What a waste of money I spend on them for the service call. I will never use them again. I wish I can get the service fee refunded since I'm not at all satisfy with their service. read more

Had three other plumbing services come in and none of them were over $6,000. Complete scam artists. The repair they did was $827 and the other plumbers said they would have done the same work for $200. These are facts I have the estimates and receipts to prove it. Called to get the AC fixed. The repairman came out and claimed he "changed the freon" but nothing was fixed. Called them back out again and this time he claimed that the AC would only go 20 degrees below the outside temperature. That's not true. Also, it didn't even get that cold. Hi, I joined Yelp just so I could share my experience with A. J. Perri. We had them do some plumbing work for us, spent over $700 for them to fix a leaking drain in a shower stall. Fast forward 15 months and the part that they installed has failed and started to leak. I thought hey any reputable company would be embarrassed about this and would rush over to fix the issue. Not A. J. Perri, they wanted to charge me an additional $300 to fix the part that they installed. I couldn't kick the guy out of my house fast enough. Complete rip-off company!! We live in a 3 story condo building and live on the top floor. The neighbor living below us said water was leaking down into his condo. Not pouring but a small leak nevertheless. It was after 6Pm on a weekday so I called Perri. Plumber came out and laid his "sales book" on the counter and said $2,500.00 for the job which was a standard 40 gal gas water heater. Holy mackerel!!! AJ Perri - DONT USE THEM. Unfortunately we didn't read the yelp reviews prior to having a new replacement AC unit installed. Yes it was very expensive, but we figured they would do a better job. Quoted to replace all parts, lines into the attic too. The salesman said the new lines were needed. After the install the tech said they didn't replace lines to the attic, "they were ok", I think they were just to lazy to replace them. They did take the parts price off. So who is right the salesman or the technician? They should be on the same page... The system has been working ok for two summers now. BUT in winter I noticed that it was much colder in the upstairs bedroom. Went into the attic and noticed that they had moved the attic insulation near where the lines come into the attic. There was a eight foot by ten foot area where there was NO insulation over the bedroom ceiling. Wow paid a fortune for this so called "heating and air conditioning specialist" to do the job and they left the ceiling wallboard exposed to the summer heat and winter cold of the attic. It would have taken them 5 minutes to put the insulation back. Too lazy I guess, probably figured no one would notice. AGAIN, find a reputable company to do your AC. AJ Perry is not, they are rip off specialists not AC specialists. read more

Wow I wish I would've seen this before having my unit replaced. My central air unit stopped working and I had Joe Ruggiero come in to my home to show me what my options were. I told him that I had to consult with my husband and that I would call him back. He was so desperate to make a sale that he neglected to tell me that the only way to make interest free payments was through applying for a Home Depot credit card. I gave a down payment and was just called to set up the automatic monthly payments three weeks after the installation and was JUST told that the only way to make payments interest free for two years was through a Home Depot credit card. I feel taken advantage of just for Joe to make a sale, especially during these unprecedented times. Now I am stuck with paying the balance of $5800. In addition to all of this, he told me that he would be bringing two window units for my family to use for the week before the installation and he never showed up. I texted twice asking for an update and he said "he forgot" and that he was going to bring them and he never did. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced and I will never recommend your company to anyone I know. read more

Update: I had my annual service/maintenance call this past week and was very fortunate to have Kyle Williams taking care of me. When I explained my ongoing problems with the air conditioning fan operation, he traced the issue to the wiring in the air handler. While the wiring was arranged properly, it was not working properly. He tried another, non-standard approach and got it back on track and working. After a half dozen or so AJP technicians in here trying to troubleshoot the problem without, Kyle was the only one who was listening carefully and trying to do things outside of the box and trying new approaches. He deserves to be recognized. read more

BUYER BEWARE. My 82 year-old father, on a fixed-income, needed a basic kitchen faucet replaced for his builder-grade kitchen sink. He figured the cost of a standard faucet to be about $100 plus another $150 (max) to install; however he acknowledged to himself that he is not aware of current pricing for things such as this. The technician who arrived talked my father into buying a higher-end faucet for $250.90 (and was given a $50 Kohler discount, bringing the cost to $200.90). His total charge was $797.00 + tax ($852.79 in all). Is $596.10 a customary and reasonable charge to install a kitchen faucet? Not according to follow-up research that I did. I thought there MUST be some mistake -- and so I called the company on my father's behalf to see if this was an error, and because I wanted an itemized breakdown of how these charges were incurred. I was informed that they charge a "flat rate" which included "amenities" such as having their trucks on the road, same day service, 24-hour availability, etc.. After it was explained to me I said, " So then the flat rate for installing a kitchen faucet is close to $600?" "Yes", was the response I got. I filed a complaint with the BBB that the company failed to provide itemized billing, and plan to do so with the Division of Consumer Affairs. My father has always been a man of integrity, and has always placed trust in service-providers to be fair in their pricing. Please, people, if you choose to use this company, do your research FIRST and be sure of what you are paying for in advance. read more

A nicely polished sales rep came to our home and spent about an hour measuring rooms and giving his presentation. THEN he got to the bottom line ....holy cow! He was the third estimate [ always try to get three] 8,000 higher then one $10,000 higher then the other. I know exactly what the equipment costs so he had a difficult time trying to explain his price.He left quietly and seemed slightly embarrassed by the whole episode. Salesman Kevin was nice enough. Looked all over the house for some common ground so we could get the "friends and family" discount at the end of his spiel. Didn't really have much issue with that though as it's part of the sales gimmick. What was a problem, was the price. Quoted $9,000 to replace a natural gas steam boiler. Had to check that number and got a quote for $6,000. Checked the cost of the equipment only, which was about $3,000, so the extra $3,000 to cover two guys for a day to install, disposal fees, and overhead seems fair. Called back the salesman and told him I wasn't going to proceed. Figured that would be the end of the transaction. But.... Perri has a guy call all the open sales to try and convince you otherwise. A couple weeks after the fact I received a phone call and was essentially harassed and insulted. Now, for the last 12 years I've worked in the commercial construction industry, and my full time job is to compare bids. I think I know a thing or two about comparing quotes. Similar equipment, scope, services, warranties, etc.; check, check, and check. Yet, the man on the other end of the phone is insistent that his boiler is superior, and that his quote includes more bells and whistles. Got to the point where I couldn't speak over him and had to simply hang up. Do yourself a favor. Skip over AJ Perri and move on to the next company on your list. This will only be a waste of your time and, if you do decide to hire them, likely a waste of your money as well. read more

They quoted me 14,000.00 to replace the two units, that was after various discounts and a lot of baloney. I looked up the price of the two systems using the serial numbers they gave me. The price for the two was around 5,000.00. I guess they were charging me 9,000.00 for labor. When I told the salesman I wanted to shop around, he actually looked pissed off. Oh well! Went somewhere else and the entire job cost me around 7,000.00. Big difference and my service was wonderful. Last year I replaced fruance, air con compressor, and water heater all at once. I had to pay at least $3000- 4000( I paid $15,000 )more than other contracter estimate by decieved with honeyed words. I called this company for AC tuneup/checkup. The guy showed up, did not check much but a capacitor and told me that the part is weak and will cause more damage. I asked the price and was told that it is $270. He offered me a 10% discount if I get into contract, not knowing what to do I asked him to replace the capacitor. After that the technician went to fan unit and again told me that dual run capacitor is weak and needs to be replaced, this part was more than $300. At this point I suspected and declined to changed it. The technician then left (like he came just to replace the capacitor). I checked the price online and found out that the part he changed was only $12. He charged me 250 for a part that is available for $12, now that is called profit. The total visit cost me $385 for one part that I could have change myself. I will advise people to stay away from this company. read more
