Unimpressed. Went there with my fiancé pretty excited about the 4 star rating. Got the Spicy edamame good flavors but really soggy. The philly roll had salmon sliced so thin on top it rivaled only the ginger. We got the monster roll which contained 80% Avacado, 10% salmon/crab and 10% rice. When you pay 16 dollars American for a roll you would expect some actual seafood and maybe a little aesthetic pomp and circumstance. Below average is my take. I have been ordering literally 75-100 dollars every 2 weeks for a long time. We have always enjoyed the food however, tonight it was terrible. I order the crispy duck salad and my husband orders crispy duck appetizer. Tonight, they must have run out of duck and instead of calling to tell me, they delivered a salad that was wilted and had maybe 4 or 5 pieces of skin in there and my husband had less then half the normal portion. When I called to complain, the 'manager' kept me on the line for 10 mins to tell me that they had to come pick it up to show it to the kitchen or he could only give me a 25% credit on the house. GIVE ME A BREAK. I spend hundreds of dollars regularly here and they are willing to lose a customer for 17.00 worth of stringy duck and wilted lettuce. SMH where is customer service? Sushi restaurants tend to be hit or miss...this is definitely a hit from decor, to drinks to food. The ambiance is wonderful, it's just a restaurant but gives it that little something more with the music and setting. Sometimes you have to wait if you don't have a reservation, but if you've been here before you don't mind..grab a drink and an app at the bar it's worth it. We LOVE the tuna pizza...has a little taste of everything, and of course my go to rock shrimp you can't go wrong. Last night we went out of the box and tried the blue crab fajita...it was just ok. If I was home, I could've made the same thing with a can of tuna, cream cheese and a pita in the microwave. Probably would've tasted the same. Will definitely stick to the popular items...onto the rolls. Smithtown, demon, American dream, sunshine are a few of my favorites. Last night I opted for an entree of the King of the Sea; a combo of lobster, scallops, and shrimp over steamed asparagus with a honey butter sauce. It was delish. The lobster was a nice size piece, I have to say it was slightly tough so overcooked a little, BUT not enough to complain or to say it put a damper on the dish at all...it was still great. Deep down I really want to give this place 5 stars based on the quality of the sushi. Unfortunately I can't due to a few factors. For starters we were sat a half hour after our reservation slot (not the biggest deal). After being seating our waiter cane around for 15 minutes later just to put waters out. By this time (45 mins after reservation) we're starting to get a little hungry. 15-20mins later our meal gets place. The waiter came over with our appetizer and it wasn't what we wanted. By now we are already an hour and 15 minutes just to get served the wrong appetizer. He rushes the order out and gives us two glasses of red wine (complementary) which was nice of him. Here comes dinner!!!!!! Wrong again!!!! Takes it back and offers us another glass of wine. At this rate I'm going to be buzzed walking out haha. Dinner finally makes it out. Food was great, can't complain about the quality, the waiter was very apologetic. Just a bad experience. The hostess gave me an attitude because I had reservations and was 5 mins late and told me that we have to wait, when there were about 10 open seats. The hostess wear clothing that's very inappropriate and almost made me want to throw my food up, her ass cheeks were showing the whole time, GROSS!.. Then the waitress was horrible and never asked how everything was. Was late with the drinks. So, when we gave her a bad tip, she came up to us and told us that the tip should be more... Went there a few Saturdays ago to celebrate my friends 50th bday very belated, but I believe it was certainly worth the wait.. The distance from her house to where I am is quite a distance so I see more of her in the summer when she comes down to go to Robert Moses beach with me... Getting back to Aji, hands down right up there with Kotobuki in Babylon. The atmosphere was very modern bathroom clean, service was good and the food very fresh. Their fried oysters are to die for! And although I picked the bento box (negimaki rolls) and I also ordered the Shrimp & vege tempura. When I first called to find out if they were owned by Japanese people and found out that it was not I was a bit hesitant at first but the Chinese owners got this sushi place a real hot spot. And yes Shiki is walking distance and the price is cheaper but there is no comparison when it comes to quality. I would highly recommend this place and yes make reservations, and hopefully you don't mind taking a reservation on a weekend around 6pm as the wait time for our food was great, and over all a very enjoyable meal! And I turned my friend onto fried ice cream, and I do believe she enjoyed it as much as I did... I''ll still go to Kotobuki (take out mostly) as the place is very full always and the overall ambience doesn't come close to Aji 53... After 10+ years of doing business with Kotobuki I never thought I would find something so close by compared to their Babylon location. I know they have a place in Happauge (Shoprite mall) but didn't know if the food would be as good as it is in Babylon.. Great job to the owners and their staff.. The sushi platter for two was good, but I really enjoyed the flavors of the monster roll. Perhaps because I've had lots of sushi in Los Angeles, I've become spoiled with the quality of fish you can find out the there... Aji 53 has a very extensive menu and offers a great variety of rolls. Although I felt like I was "cheating" on my regular sushi place, our dinner was great. The fish is VERY fresh! Appetizer was a good, not spectacular, salmon tartar. Aji offers king crab and I got a King crab avocado roll that was divine. The specialty rolls were on point and the sushi dinner entre was excellent. I am confident I will "cheat" again and visit this place. read more

Went with family to try a different sushi place. Wheelchair accessible but very cramped waiting area and not much space in between tables to navigate. Once seated the staff was prompt and polite. The ambience was challenging though and continued to decline as the evening progressed. Appetizers were good and all of the sushi was fresh. All greens were fresh and we were pleased with the food . . . . but did I mention the ambiance? . . . . Yeah.. .. the music in this place is HORRIBLE and Way too loud. I went as far as to ask the people at the surrounding tables if they felt the same way. Yep - anyone over 25 also thought that the music was more appropriate for a club scene. I would gladly give this restaurant a higher rating but a couple of us left with a headache due to the "ambiance". I understand that they want to cater to their bar clientele but the rest of the restaurant patrons shouldn't have to suffer for it. I got a house sushi (sushi regular) to go, and compared to any other place I've gotten it on Long Island, the portion was smaller. The pieces were doubled (not varied) and the regular tuna was old. It smelled like warm crotch and was touching another piece of fish so I couldn't eat that either. This place is always well spoken for, and this is the first and last time I will be giving them my money. They charge more than most places, and you would think they would at least use fresh tuna on a Saturday evening. Also the soup portion is really small. I was very disappointed with my recent take out order from our usual sushi place. We ordered online like we usually do and ordered pick up of a total of 6 rolls. I think the rolls are a little on the expensive side as compared to other sushi places but the food is usually pretty good. I picked up our 3 special type rolls and what was supposed to be two simple rolls, a spicy salmon and spicy tuna roll. The recent showed we were charge for two spicy tuna naruto rolls which I was OK with eating two if the rolls were actually included in our order. We only received 5 rolls even though we were charged for 6. I called and explained this and after a 10 minute conversation on the phone with the front desk whom kept putting me on hold for minutes at a time to discuss the order with the chef I got no where and became extremely frustrated. They should have just taken it off the bill which is what I wanted considering we only received 5 rolls. My girlfriend got on the phone in a more calmly matter and got our point through to Aji. They said they would send over the extra roll which came over an hour later. When we checked what the roll was, it was even the correct roll we spoke about over the phone. The lack of communication and frustration caused from a simple $6 charge annoyed the crap out of me. Not sure when I will order from here next considering everything I went through for $6 of fish. Also, our $70 order came with two sets of chops sticks. Not such a big point as compared to the poor communication and service issue, but I would think more than two people are eating that much sushi and I don't think they are losing money giving out a few extra packs of chop sticks. read more

And they were very tasty . Each time we eat 3-4 rolls and always try new ones;all the times we were very happy.Service is always spot on!! And the icing on the cake is they actually put alcohol in the drinks!! Yay!! So many places seem to forget to!! Great Food ....but awful customer service. My order was not processed until I came in 30 after I placed the order. I watched the girl behind the counter frantically try to plug in the order while I was standing there when she realized the paper was still in the printer. 5 other people came in and picked up there order. It is now 20 minutes after my order was supposed to be ready. Not one employee has apologized or even approached me regarding the status of the order. It is not even packed, there are multiple tables open and at least 2/3 people behind the front desk at all time. Although I have been an Aji faithful for some time I highly doubt that I will be bringing my business back here in the future. read more

Aji is one of my hometown favorites. I'm glad this place opened up, as most (if not all) the other sushi restaurants in the area have become a bit washed up. They also offer delivery which most of the other Japanese restaurants in the area do not. Atmosphere- The atmosphere here is trendy and clean, I enjoy it a lot. However, because of this atmosphere, you do get the "wanna-be's" that come in. But if nothing else, it provides great people watching. Food- The fish is top quality, dine in and take out. They are generous with the amount of fish on/in each roll and I have personally watched the sushi chefs at lunch preparing the tuna, and if something doesn't look right to them, they throw it out. They also have a very unique menu of great specialty rolls, my favorite include Smithtown, Bayshore and Magic roll You will not find many of these combos anywhere else and reasonably priced. Service- Dined here every Friday for about a year and never had much issue with the service. Overall, if you like a nice atmosphere and good sushi you will not be disappointed. read more
