Food, service and ambiance are great! First time here and will definitely come back!

This ramen chain decades ago and has flourished all over the world. We were in the Chelsea area and decided to try it out. Interior was a little cramped but cozy. Menu was very simple (several ramen, rice bowl, appetizer and drink choices), all reasonably priced. We shared the Ajisen ramen and the vegetable curry with rice. Both came out quickly and very hot. The veggie curry was a mix of spicy and sweet, and coated the rice well when mixed together. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and had a good crunch (broccoli) and softness (potatoes). The ramen had a rich but not too salty tonkatsu broth. The thin ramen noodles had good texture and chew. The char sui was tender and lean. The egg was braised in soy sauce and had a semi runny yolk. Seaweed and bean sprouts rounded the ramen soup out. Loved both choices

Came here while checking out the city. We wanted a nice warm bowl of ramen and it didn't disappoint. We came by for dinner and did not have a wait for two. The service was quick and perfect for us, since we just wanted to get in and eat before heading out. The space seems a little cramped but they do fit a good amount of tables and people in the space. We ordered tatsuta age and ajisen deluxe ramen. The chicken was good and had a nice fry without drying out. The ajisen deluxe ramen was delicious since we couldn't decided between chashu or the beef ribs. We saw it on the table next to us and decided to get whatever had the ribs. The noodles were cooked well without being overcooked and both the chashu and ribs were tasty. I definitely enjoyed the ribs since that's not always available with ramen. I was only a little disappointed that the bowl only came with half an ajitama egg! If I didn't get the deluxe I would've probably wanted more protein.

Chain restaurants will always have their hits and misses, especially when your chain spans about 700 locations worldwide. Ajisen's Chelsea spot isn't upscale and it can feel very cramped on a Saturday night, but it delivers a solid bowl of ramen. We came in for dinner and got one of the few tables left on a busy evening, splitting an order of spring rolls and each getting a bowl of ramen. The spring rolls were crispy and not too greasy, with an overly sweet chili sauce for dipping. The ramen fared better, particularly the Volcano Ramen: bean sprouts + smoked cabbage + soft boiled egg + seared pork belly + chasu pork in a spicy tonkotsu broth. The chasu didn't pack much flavor but the pork belly (meltingly tender and smoky) made up for it, while the broth brought the heat, though it wasn't as spicy as I'd hoped. Ajisen won't compare to Ichiran (or Ippudo), but it's a solid ramen choice

No frills ramen house that was very crowded. It seems to be a local spot for people in the neighborhood. We ordered an array of things to try. Everything was okay not terrible but not impressive enough to ever come back. The wait service was shorthanded, not really present. We ordered a lemonade-ish drink that didn't taste right. The waitress said she would take it back no charge but still charged us the 5.00 for it. It's worth a try especially since some people rave about it, maybe it was an off night. Would recommend reservations if you are interested in trying this place.

The restaurant was smaller than it appeared on the outside. A bit cluttered but a nice quiet place to have a meal. Service was quick and attentive. Barely had to wait for our food to come. The food itself was good. Probably not the best ramen I've ever had but I enjoyed it. The weakest link to me was the noodles themselves. Personally I prefer thicker and softer noodles, these were the opposite. Everything else was great. The broth was very delicious. The meats were good as well. I will say I let down by the spiciness. I ordered the volcano ramen and it was pretty weak. Luckily there were condiments on the table to help out. If you prefer a spicy bowl you're gonna have to add on more spice for yourself. As for the price, it was relatively cheap compared to a lot of places I've been. My bowl was $20 and my friend's was $15. The other ramen bowls probably ranged between $15-20. All in all I enjoyed it. I could see it being my go to place for a decent bowl of affordable ramen. It's far from the best but it's good and affordable.

Overall rating: 3.5/5 Came here with my boyfriend on a Saturday night. The restaurant wasn't too busy and we got seated right away. My boyfriend and I both got the Ajisen ramen and a fried calamari to share. The fried calamari was very crispy and we loved it. The ramen was only okay. The broth was a bit flavorless and the pork belly was quite dry. The yolk of the egg was also slightly overcooked. There were also not many toppings for the ramen. All it had was beansprouts, chashu, and egg. The ramen was only $15 so I guess that's what I paid for. Food came out pretty fast and portion was decent. Their ac was really weak so be aware if you're coming to the restaurant during summer time.

I used to love this place but haven't visited since the one near me closed down. I ordered the curry base for my Ramen and it was nowhere near that. It didn't have a rich color which was the first thing that alerted me; plus the excess of cabbage. It tasted like dirty water. It didn't have any flavor- curry, savory, umami or otherwise. I can't recommend this place.

Disclaimer: review based on veggie ramen only I got the veggie ramen and it was just ok. It was pretty bland and had to be drenched in hot sauce to have any flavor. My friend got the chicken ramen and she said hers was good but she's had better. Overall, just based on the veggie ramen, I wasn't impressed

Food (4/5): We ordered the spicy ajisen ramen and tenderous rib ramen. The spicy ajisen ramen was quite delicious and flavorful. My partner got the tenderous rib ramen and enjoyed it too. Service (4/5): Got us seated fast. The server seemed to be zoning out but she was friendly and helpful once we got her attention. Ambiance (3/5): A bit sketch looking on the outside but spacious with a good amount of seating. Inside looks a bit dated with some furniture clearly having wear and tear. The lights added a nice decorative touch.

Whenever I eat lunch alone at work, I come here because it's fast and across the street. I get the Ajisen Deluxe ramen every time, and it comes with chasiu and pork rib. Solid hearty meal all around, and the food is super consistent, so I've never had a bad experience. Service is alright here, but they usually just have one girl running around for all the tables. It is what it is! I think this meals around like $22 with tip, so not bad! Will be coming back often.

Wow!!! It was cold and rainy out and this place hit the spot!!! What a great surprise! Recommend going now, tomorrow and the day after. I ordered the Ajisen Ramen, Original broth with Choshu (pork), and my wife ordered the Beef Ramen. We have had a lot of Ramen. Both were amazing but the Beef Ramen was the BEST we've ever had. The broth was delicious... so many layers of flavors. When the dishes came out and we started to eat it was quiet for about 15 min... lolol... We didn't say a word and just scarfed up that meal. It was soooooo goood. I can't wait to go back. Was this helpful?

This place has been on my radar, but the lackluster ratings on Yelp had me hesitating. I finally caved in as I was in the mood for some ramen. Surprisingly, the ajisen deluxe ramen was delicious, with a generous portion of chashu. The chicken katsu was crunchy with the hint of sweetness of the Japanese curry. Service was fast, and the server provided good recommendations. Lastly, you can't beat the price here!!

The spot is special (literally, you head below street level to get in), which somehow makes it feel even more like a NYC secret you're in on. Small, cozy, dimly lit in the best way, and staffed by people who are genuinely warm. We started with the tempura sweet potato fries and dumplings, both of which disappeared off the table fast. I went with the shio truffle ramen homemade chicken broth, homemade chicken chashu, half ajitama, bean sprouts, menma, shiso, truffle paste, and nori and it was easily one of the best bowls I've had in the city. The truffle paste takes it from "great ramen" to "why haven't I been here sooner," and the homemade chashu is so tender it practically melts before you even chew. Five bowls at the table, five very happy campers. Bonus: it's a quick stroll from Central Park, so pair a bowl here with an afternoon in the park for a genuinely great NYC day. Overall, Kin Ramen is a spot I find myself coming back to again and again whenever I'm craving a good bowl of ramen.

This spot delivers the kind of authentic paitan that reminds you why people used to line up on cold sidewalks just for a bowl. I ordered the Paitan Ramen Deluxe, and it genuinely lives up to the name. The broth is silky, rich, and comforting without being overly salty which is exactly what a proper paitan should be. The bowl comes loaded: tender shredded chicken, seared chashu, marinated soft-boiled eggs, fresh scallions, bamboo shoots, and a sheet of nori that ties everything together. Every topping tastes intentional, not just filler. The texture balance is what really stands out fatty chashu that melts, shredded chicken with real flavor, and noodles that hold up beautifully in the broth.
