So after a long day at work I was very tired and hungry . I searched it up nearest sushi place & end up here. The place is cute and small . I ordered the sushi roll box , most of the options you have to pay extra . By the time I was done it was more than 30$ instead of 20$ which they are advertising! When the food came it looked delicious. After tasting it I liked it , I had better sushi before . Was the price worth it ? Not really ! But it's ok, not like I am gonna be here every day ! I had some leftovers so on my way leaving I asked for a shopping bag . Also asked the guy in the front who choking people in that what's that brown sauce you guys put on it ! He goes you already get a spicy mayo sauce . I was like I didn't ask you for a sauce , I asked the name for it because it was good . Looking through the glass windows from the outside, the inside sure looks toasty warm and welcoming on a freezing cold day in NYC. Paper menus are stacked and provided in front of the eatery to let potential customers take a look of what they've to offer as in various food options. Grabbed a paper menu and took a quick look at it before deciding to go in and order at the register. They take both cash and card as payment. There are different locations in the city. The interior design looks really pretty with the colorful paper lanterns hanging from above. There're also fake plants near the seats. Quite some amount of seating spread throughout the space. Even a clean restroom for paying customers. Bathroom passcode is provided on the bottom of the receipt. LED menus of food and drinks are on the overhead. Words can be kinda tiny in font, and that's where the paper menus come in handy. Some food combos and teriyaki meat lunchbox options aren't on the paper menus though. Food took like around 10 mins to come. I went to Sushi & Co. a total of two times at this Herald Square location and have ordered a different dish each time. So, I'll be reviewing each dish here separately. 1) Grilled Chicken Curry - I didn't see the "grilled" part of the chicken on the overhead LED screen until receiving my order from the staff when the buzzer rang. Bit surprised to not see the fried batter tbh as I was expecting chicken cutlet curry. Thought it was a deconstructed chicken curry at first. But I guess this is all for the better and healthier since it was grilled instead of fried. - Veggies were 100% raw as in not cooked at all, so it had that raw taste I didn't really like. - Rice was mushy in the middle and hardened on the outside, I guess the curry helped a little to soften it up. - The crunchy onion crisp had a refreshing flavor with the grilled chicken to give it some texture. - Chicken was tender although I would've still preferred it to be fried chicken cutlet. Definitely healthier without the fried batter and chicken skin. Maybe bland on its own, but seeped with the curry quite well. - The curry was very savory + flavorful + well seasoned. Nothing tasted too salty. Great to get something warm in my stomach on a freezing cold day! 2) Marinated Beef Rice Bowl - Rice Bowl with soy sauce based marinated beef + broccoli + carrot + cherry tomato + scallion + shrimp shumai dumpling. Comes with teriyaki sauce & you can do choice of natural black rice ($1 more) or white rice as it is. - Rice again was mushy in the middle. Sure hope they're cooking rice in a rice cooker instead of in a pot. - The broccoli and cauliflower were burnt to the max this time.....literally 3/4 part was blackened and not edible. Poked it with a fork & texture was like dry grass lol. - Teriyaki sauce was kinda too sweet and a bit too much at the bottom. - Shrimp Shumai Dumpling: Crispy around the edges and soft on the inside. They were my favorite part besides the beef itself. My Conclusion: Bit pricey but really decent portions especially their curry dishes. And this is my entire review of Sushi & Co for the Herald Square location! read more

Sushi was so good I came back twice during my short visit in New York! The first day I ordered a salmon avocado roll and a siu Mai. The dumplings came out hot and even had a side of edamame. The roll was filling and fresh. The second day I picked up a pre made roll. They have a different concept where some sushi has black rice. I had another salmon avocado roll and black rice tempura roll. Honestly didn't taste any different than white rice but it's unique as you don't see that at most places. Holly shit. Worst restaurant ever We waited in line for so long, understood it gets busy, sure. Once we get in the restaurant they tell us they do not have sushi. After talking with the manager he said we have to wait 25 min for them to start to make the sushi because they had too many online orders. Why they don't close the online store if they don't have enough capacity. Had a good experience at Sushi & Co. Fast casual dining, right quarters but the staff seemed to be very good at directing people through to tables that fit their party. We got the Nigiri box and the teriyaki / sushi combo box to share. We got to customize everything that went into our boxes. All the nigiri (you get 8 pieces) was really fresh and tasty. The eel was by far our favorite. We were a little disappointed that the gold tuna (which was an extra $1 so not that expensive) was literally just the same tuna with a piece of edible gold on it. We would have used that selection for more eel! But it tasted just fine. We got the edamame as our "salad option (included) and the salt on it was just right. We also got the teriyaki / sushi combo box. We picked teriyaki chicken, which was hot and delicious and a size-able portion, served over rice. We also got the yellowtail roll and the spicy tuna roll. The spicy tuna roll in particular was so tasty, and we enjoyed the yellowtail as well. For our included side, we chose the miso soup, which was hot and just what we needed. My friend and I stumbled upon this place after our first 2 restaurant choices turned out to be closed (despite saying they were open). We weren't that hungry so we ordered a salmon avocado roll, $9.50, and a shrimp tempura roll, $10.25. I thought that was pretty standard for sushi rolls in this area. I thought the ratio of filling to rice was very good, the salmon avocado had a thick piece of salmon and tasted fresh and the avocado was perfectly ripe, and there wasn't too much rice. The shrimp tempura roll was delicious too, the tempura bits with the spicy mayo and eel sauce were so good. The service was quick and courteous, which I appreciated and the restaurant was larger than I expected and I liked the calming decor. I think I saw some prepackaged bentos, which I think is always a plus for anyone craving sushi but just wants to grab and go.
