    Veggie ramen
    Esther G.

Fantastic value for the food! This will be my go-to spot if I'm in the area, and do want to come back for their weekday lunch specials, which come with milk tea. I had the shrimp bowl and my partner got the veggie ramen. My bowl came with seven pieces of perfect shrimp, two pieces of broccoli, two carrot slices, onions and a lot of rice. Could not finish the rice! The veggie ramen had balanced flavor and packed with edamame, mushrooms, egg, scallions, etc. It wasn't too busy on a recent Friday evening around 8:30 after the movies.

We ordered a chicken Ramen and an unagi rice bowl. The chicken was tender and flavorful. Not overly salty, comes with a marinated egg, bamboo, corn, red ginger, seaweed and scallion. Decent portion. I was looking forward to the rice bowl. Eel portion was ok, a lot of rice. A lot more than I need. The rice is not good, not soft and not very tasty. So it was a disappointment. We ordered two drinks, a brown sugar bubble milk tea and a jasmine milk tea. Brown sugar tea was good. The other one was not. I thought I ordered a $7 milk with a hint of tea. The whole cup is white with bubble, I can barely tasted any tea flavor.

DELICIOUS RAMEN AND BUBBLE TEA TODAY-MY FIRST VISIT, WITH MANY MORE VISITS HERE IN THE FUTURE, FOR SURE! PRONOUNCED: YOI, as in just put a Y-sound in front of OY!! Spelled YOI. Directly across from the AMC Kips Bay Movie theatre ON Second Ave, near 33rd Street--I just enjoyed a generous-sized CHICKEN RAMEN, and a Black sugar Milk Tea. TOTALLY GREAT MEAL!!! See my photos, please. Very nice staff. The chicken broth was delicious along with sliced white meat chicken, and the seasoned egg was PERFECTION!!! Martha Stewart would be proud ...for those who have her very first Entertaining book, with an easy tea egg recipe; altho the yummy egg in my CHICKEN RAMEN, was marinated in soy sauce, it really gave just the PERFECT added hint of seasoning, truly, the egg was perfection, with a creamy yolk. See my photos. My CHICKEN RAMEN ($17) also had plenty of wonderful ramen noodles, fresh corn, scallions, seaweed/Nori, bamboo shoots, and more. I enjoyed all of it. Even pouring the last bit of broth into my wonderful ladle-like large black spoon. This was all delicious. My Black Sugar Milk Tea was great ($7), and it is in a nice, tall and slender, reusable, covered cup, enabling me to shake the tea several times. I can even use this when I'm home to mix a breakfast drink. Win-win!! I shall keep YOI Ramen & Tea in mind whenever I'm going to the Kips Bay AMC movie theatre right across the street, or for any medical visits at NYU LANGONE Medical Center on First Ave/33rd Street. The UNISEX bathroom was clean and spacious. It just needs a few hooks in the back of the door for a tote bag/purse and jacket or coat. I'm told they plan to put hooks there. YOI has been open about 6 months. There are 2 tables to seat 4, and 2 tables to seat 2, PLUS About 9 additional stool-seating against the wall. Yes, you should enjoy some RAMEN AND TEA HERE, along with some appetizers, too. Next time, I look forward to trying the appetizer chicken karaage (fried chicken) and some dumplings or edamame. Oh!!--I even see DESSERT on the menu--Mochi Ice Cream 2 PCs) in green tea, vanilla, strawberry) $7. I will definitely be back!!!

Without a doubt one of the best boba spots in the neighborhood. You can't go wrong with any of their drinks and everything is done well, but my personal go-to's are the fresh grape tea (SO refreshing and addicting) and the classic milk tea.

"Fresh" taro with bobo. $8. Fresh powder you mean.

Short review: Falsely advertised fresh taro and overpriced drinks. This is a new bubble tea spot (with ramen) across the street from another bubble tea spot Surreal (with ice cream) and they have some similarities. Both of them serve big portions of tea for high prices. The teas range from $6 (!) for a small unflavored to $9 for a mango durian concoction with all the large teas being 7 or 8 dollars. In short, not cheap. The picture outside show many fresh fruit teas including fresh taro which is one of my favorites. The outside photo is a milky white taro drink as in actual taro. I ordered the "fresh" taro which automatically comes with white bobo (or boba) but you can substitute for another type of boba or another topping which was $8 + tax. As per usual, I got no ice and less sugar. The drink came out pretty quickly and was unfortunately purple which means they use the hideous purple powder which means I paid a buck extra on top of overpriced tea for powder. The drink was as expected overly sweet even with less sweetness (I can't imagine how sweet it would be if I ordered regular) and I couldn't taste the tea. The white boba had a pleasant chew but all of it was on the bottom so likely it was all stuck together. All around a not so good beverage. I usually wouldn't complain but this dumb tea was more expensive than the fresh fruit teas for no reason outside of false advertising. Another person mentioned that they were asked about using fresh taro instead and if this is the actual case, I heard nothing of the sort and I would have much preferred being asked over getting this junk. It almost feels like I am getting ripped off even more if I had to ask for fresh taro secretly. If you have fresh taro, don't use powder or at least charge different prices for taro milk tea and fresh taro milk. Low 2.

My brother often raves about how delicious the ramen is here (it's next to his work) and it took a bit of convincing since the interior has a casual, food court vibe- $14.99 lunch special ramen+boba. Wow, the flavors remind me of my neighborhood ramen shop in Taiwan... I'm glad I decided to come! The service was casual but the lady was nice!

Came here after work for a quick meal on a weekday. Quick and easy, this place is pretty solid. The space has ample seating for groups of 4. Gyu Don - Juicy beef over rice is always great. The flavor soaks right into the rice. I wish there was more variety of flavor in this dish (maybe an optional sauce or something), but it was still good and hit the spot. Value: 4/5 Quality: 4/5 Quantity: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5

Passion Fruit Green Tea with boba

Fresh made tea with real fruit. They are a bit more expensive than other bubble tea places. I went there during lunch time and was surprised to see the place empty given they also do Ramen. I ordered my drink with no sugar the way I usually do with other places because the fruit syrup is usually plenty sweet as is the boba. The woman behind the counter warned me that the drink may not be sweet, but I went ahead anyway. I should have listened to her as it was not sweet. That's my fault, not theirs.

    Sharon J.

Pretty good bubble tea but a little overpriced. I got the grapefruit one which was like a grapefruit juice with a lot of pulp and it wasn't super sweet, all of which were to my liking. The fresh grape one my boyfriend got was a little confusing with cheese foam, tea, jelly pieces and also grape inside. These drinks looks pretty but I think they aren't reaching their full potential as a tea shop. Good if you're craving tea in the area though!

    G. Salmon Teriyaki

Yes to milk tea, maybe to ramen, no to rice bowl... Also Spicy edamame & gyoza v good! Teriyaki was tasteless and lacked enough sauce but was fresh. Ramen was about average - go elsewhere. The milk teas are v good! Service needs work - she was "scary". The ambiance is like a cafeteria

A7. Chicken Karaage - this was so delicious and tender.

I can't even explain the way I felt while eating this delicious ramen bowl. The flavors all complemented each other. I wish they were here in Jacksonville FL

Kips Bay is in dire need of more bubble tea options, so I was excited to see this place open! Perfect place to stop by before or after the movie theater. They specialize in fruit drinks. I tried the passion fruit green tea on my first visit and enjoyed it. Unfortunately, they do not have any nondairy milk options for their milk teas. They also do not have any vegetarian ramen options.

Classic tonkotsu ramen and miso ramen.

Good boba pearls, tea itself is just ok. Shoyu ramen has no flavor, very watery. Lots of toppings but they are meh.

The Hiyashi Chuka (cold noodle dish) was decent, about 3 stars. The Tebasaki spicy wings were crispy and coated with just the right amount of spicy powder and sauce. For a restaurant, especially one serving customizable ramen dishes, with a allergy list post on the wall by the counter where I sat at B1, a little flexibility or empathy toward food allergies would go a long way. The interaction felt dismissive and unwelcoming, which made the overall dining experience uncomfortable. Customer service matters just as much as the food, and sadly this visit fell short. The smashed cucumber was good. Spicy dumpling was good. Ramen broth was light, not as rich or flavorful as others. There are so many good ramen places in NYC, this Chinese Ramen place has lot of room to improve.
