Wow! I don't know where to start with a.k.a. Friscos. A friend and I were looking for a quick bite in Frederick after a long hike, and we were definitely confused when our navigation took us into the middle of a business park. Immediately, I was amused by the decor (I am originally from San Francisco, and definitely got a kick out of the California paraphernalia). However, the interior is quite charming, and all of the employees were helpful. The food here is nuts. I got the tuna salad, and it was absolutely delicious. The presentation of the food is beautiful (everything is fresh and green), and the portions are massive - perfect for a post hiking meal. Will definitely be returning! read more

This sandwich is THE SANDWICH! it is massive the big chunk of juicy meat is folded to fit inside and this was to go, i can only imagine how amazing it looked plated dining in. The sauce it comes along with as well is such a treat for the leftover greens i had. Finger licking good and the little side of exploded potatoes was a great way to finish it off! The little pieces of green onion and bacon, drooling and the fact that you can get a bigger size as well is insane. I've been a customer for 25 years. I LOVE Friscos. I'm concerned about the service. The last few times that I've been in, I've come in when there has been no line...around 11:45 on both weekend and weekdays. The staff barely acknowledged me. I've watched them not acknowledge other customers. I've stood there for 5-10 minutes while they have personal conversations and stocking items and showing zero customer service. My orders have been wrong, like when asking for an up charged $3 addition of bacon and then forgot to add the bacon, or forgetting to put dressing on, or missing part of the order. I was standing next to a guy who compared the staff to Seinfeld's Soup Man (being PC for the post). Unsolicited, he shared his sentiments with me, that staff doesn't acknowledge you when you come in like they can't be bothered with customers and they often get his orders wrong. He had a few things wrong with his order that day, and he was a regular whose business gets their catering from Friscos often, so another regular customer. It's very disappointing to know that the service has gone downhill. They have always taken such good care of me. I hope that management pays attention and fixes this, as it's truly my favorite lunch spot. Update: thanks for the reply Angie. Thank you for your continued dedication to serving your customers. I was travelling through Frederick and decided I would stop for a bite. I did what I usually do when travelling...open Yelp, set up some filters depending on my mood, and find some great food! Locals always know the great places to eat, and a.k.a. Friscos was no exception! I ordered the Mission. Flavorful Brie melted to perfection on a fresh French Roll. The tomatoes, peppers and onions were so full of flavor, and the olive relish and fresh sprouts really put it over the top! A veer left from my usual Asian selection, I was quickly confused when I found myself in an office park and just as quickly excited to find a super cute building, inviting, amidst the offices and show rooms. I like the efficient process of ordering the food at the front and taking my order ticket to the back and ordering my drink. This was the first place that was mentioned by a coworker when I asked for recommendations for lunch. I was not disappointed. In fact, I will deff visit again before my departure back home. The service was great, the restaurant was clean, and the food was delicious! I tried their signature food, the Exploded potato which is pretty much a mashed baked potato. We came here on a Sunday afternoon & for a place that is so hidden, there was a steady stream of people. We tried their steak potato loaded potato and grilled cheese (its the most interesting but best grilled cheese i've had...the bread was garlic bread-ish seasoned and they used provolone instead of american cheese). We hopped over to get ice cream ($1.75 for kid twisters was plenty for us)...you could tell it was really good ice cream and not the chemically-water mixed kind. Last, we stopped over to their beer & wine store. I love their $13 & under-unique wine & beers only rule...we ended buying 3 bottles. What made this trip so great was that the owners dropped in and chatted with us, which made us feel really welcomed. I would def recommend a trip here! read more

I've been here twice now. Once eating in and once for take out and both experiences were good. They have a large menu to choose from - mostly sandwiches and various types of baked potatoes. They also do appetizers and they're famous "exploded potatoes". The prices are reasonable and the portions are huge. They also offer a wide range of craft beers, cider and wine. If you want wine, you walk next door and pick out a bottle and you can bring it in the restaurant to eat with your meal. I found a new local cider I loved: Virginia's Bold Rock. They wine/beer store prices are really inexpensive and they have some unique choices. I haven't had any of the sandwiches yet, since I'm gluten free, but their potatoes are great. I've had the Kong Lobo which is chili, cheese, sour cream, bacon, etc. Basically everything but the kitchen sink and that was good but a bit too spicy for me. I also have tried the flat iron steak potato which is my favorite so far. Our daughter did the "make your own" and loved it. They have a large selection of items you can put on your potato. My husband had one of the salads and said it was good. This place isn't fancy, but the food is good and the atmosphere casual and relaxing. They call you up when your order is ready and the food is served in disposable/reheat-able foil bowls. We'll definitely be back. Stopped in as a first-timer on a late biz luncheon. I had pictured this spot being different but that's not a bad thing. The menu mainly consists of sandwiches, salads, and wraps. It's mainly a deli wth separate areas for alcoholic bevs and pick-up. It is located in a more industrial park type atmosphere which is near the Flying Dog Brewery. ATMOSPHERE: This spot was more of a deli type of atmosphere that you'd experience at the beach or a vacation spot. There is ample seating throughout the place which could accommodate a variety of needs. They also have a variety of beers both in bottles and cans, as well as a watermelon sangria that a regular recommended but I wasn't able to go with being on a biz trip. FOOD: Thanks to a recommendation and checking in on Yelp I got a free exploded potato side - which is like a hybrid ah gratin potato/mashed redskin potato with bacon pieces and green onion. Along with that side I went with the OAKLAND sandwich which is turkey/Gouda with Caesar salad lettuce and pesto spread on a sub type bread. I liked the sandwich immensely - the only issue I had was the bread. It seemed a little dry or old and sopped up the pesto to where I wasn't able to taste it as much as I would've liked. SERVICE: The two bros who took our orders were nice, even though the one looked like it had been a long day. Also got to meet the owner who gave us some free cookies for the road. This is a great no-frills place to try some great sandwiches, crack open a beer, and enjoy time with some friends. First off, get the wings. Grilled wings are so good, and they have a variety of flavors here. Curiosity got the better of me and I went for the Wicked Wolf (super spicy) wings. The spicy dry rub and the spicy sauce make for a very piquant punch. Have a cold beer ready. Speaking of which... They have a solid offering of beers, including a lot of local brews. This place was a good find with an overwhelming menu with lots of good sounding sandwiches, salads and potatoes. My husband & I both tried a sandwich & they were both tasty. They only thing I didn't like about the sandwich was the meat was cut really thick. I would have preferred thinner sliced meats with more slices. (Normally thinner sliced meat offers more flavor). Finally I made it to the restaurant which is spartan and trendy. It's in a warehouse space. They have a selection of beer and indoor/outdoor seating. You order, pay, sit and the food is brought to you. The steak sandwich was heavily spiced like a packaged product which it probably is. The food the company brought in for the demo (see below) was better. I won't get the steak again. A company demo group brought in lunch and the food was good so I asked where it came from, Friscos. This place never disappoints...except for the Mac and cheese--it's super disappointing- no flavor, no seasoning, velveeta and a little crushed red pepper- blasphemy! That's seriously my only complaint. The thin pizza is deLish! My brother raves about the wings. My potato with cheese, butter and sour cream was gooey perfection. The four slices of beef tasted and felt like it was cooked for that long - dry and chewy. Bag of chips (not included with sandwich) overpriced at $3, and bottle of locally-made lemonade for $2.50 (or vice versa I forget). My husband has been dying to eat at this place for weeks, and so we decided today was as good as any to check it out! The service was quick and overall we had a cool and pleasant experience! I ordered a cup of chili and it was tasty! It was meaty and flavorful. I felt like it needed one more ingredient to make it a "knockout". It couldn't figure out what it was, but I think that it was missing something. It could be the "spicy" / "kick" that I'm used to. I also had the BBQ Beef Sandwich and the Exploded Potato. They were both excellent. The beef had a nice flavor and it wasn't drenched in BBQ sauce. I also had the watermelon sangria and you actually taste the watermelon in the sangria, and it was amazingly refreshing and delicious! My husband had the chicken wings, and they were awesome! They were grilled and had a sauce that tasted like a "marinara" sauce. I apologize for not asking about what the sauce was, but this is the best that I can describe it. The wings were amazing without the sauce. They were spicy and grilled and delicious! After lunch we went next door to where they have their wine and beer selections. It was a dream! I loved it and the gentleman that helped us was fabulous! He showed us around, and I specifically asked about they Rosé and he was very helpful!
