Omg how cute is this place? My fiancé and I were looking for a sushi place by my house, which is really hard to find a good one in Pomona, and found this spot. At first I wasn't so sure bcus it was located in the corner and it was dark at the time. But you should never judge a book by its cover! So glad we gave it a shot. Unfortunately this place was a big let down. I got a very simple spicy tuna roll which is usually my favorite but here it was bad. The tuna wasnt fully mashed up, it had larger pieces of whole tuna which ruined the texture. Also, the rice of the roll was mixed with bread crumbs that also ruined the texture & made it taste bad. Looks like a small, family owned place with cute decor and solid sushi. Service was attentive and friendly. We tried the Spider Roll, Philadelphia Roll, Hawaiian Roll, vegetable and shrimp tempura, spicy garlic edamame, and donkatsu. We were pleased with our meal and would come back. This place was really good for some basic Japanese food! I really think the sushi combos are a good deal for around $14 to $15 dollars! They aren't the most complicated rolls and are really basic, but they are really good and some of them come with sashimi. We also tried the shrimp tofu soup for around $12. It isn't the most flavorful, but I still enjoyed it! Maybe getting it with more spice! I got a mild and it barely had a kick to it. The service was great as well and it really is a hole in the wall! This place needs to be busier. As a La Verne resident and Asian food seeker, I have a really good gauge of Japanese food in the area. Most are decent sushi mills that hit the spot but aren't special. This place is the opposite of that. It's small, quaint, traditional feeling and mom and pop run. The food is made fresh and with love. That's the biggest difference from sushi mill Japanese restaurants, the "other food" is just ok. Here, everything from the salad to the miso soup to the mixed tempura and kimchi fried rice, to the chicken katsu and egg rolls were all made fresh and with lots of love. They have pictures of pretty much everything they have, making it as accessible as possible to try all of their delicious offerings. Sadly, I heard the owner say it was slow. This isn't right. Everyone should prioritize restaurants like this. They do not serve alcohol so that might be a drawback to some (not me). Please come and try this place. I know you won't be disappointed. read more

I'm usually in agreement with the overall yelp score of a restaurant but this one seemed a bit off. They have their own little lot shared with a liquor store on the opposite end so parking was a breeze. I was seated right away and service was on point. Restaurant seemed clean for the most part. Tables are pretty private to the point I had to peer around to see what the seating situation was like outside of my booth. Unfortunately I was underwhelmed by the food itself. The salmon poke dish was not what I expected and I've seen poke presented in many different ways. This one was half salad with a dressing I didn't like at all. It didn't mesh well with the red sauce on the salmon either. The salmon was drowned in the mild red sauce and though they were generous with the chunks of salmon the sauce was not very good. I can't imagine the spicy sauce is miles better but could be? They also sprinkled the salmon with sesame seeds and I personally think sesame has a strong flavor which takes away from the fish. Just didn't give off that fresh poke feel. I also got the chicken teriyaki. The chicken was pretty tough and not very flavorful. Teriyaki is so easy and basic that I scowl inside when it's not done right. I tossed half of it. Miso soup had a good amount of tofu and flavor was decent. The portions were a good amount and service was friendly but i doubt I will go out of the way to go back. read more

Can I just say that this restaurant was an experience! I'm originally from Seattle with a lot of Asian culture as part of my childhood. I'm also fluent in Japanese, so the fact that I'd moved here almost a year ago and hadn't had either Korean or Japanese cuisine yet was mind-boggling. From the outside, the restaurant seemed very quaint. But when we walked in it was like being transported to a loving home! The decor and seating is so comforting and warm, and our waitress was very sweet. I got the spicy soft tofu seafood soup and there was so much variety (you can adjust the spice level). Mussels, calamari, shrimp galore! We also tried their boba which was good but not great. All of the rolls were superb and exceeded expectations.
