Plush Pup from parking place (Alliteration lesson for the day)

On the way to see Kansas at the Rivers Casino, I stopped here 'cos it was our daughter's fave when she worked up this way. It's a Chicago Greek Sandwich joint in all its glory. I swung with the Gyros plate and a Greek salad. When I picked it up, I had to make 2 trips, 'cos I got a complimentary bowl of soup (Cream of Chix with rice-Greek Style). The Gyros was fresh off the spit, and indeed yum. Not quite Halsted Street, but excellent for close to O'Hare. The Greek Salad was a basic Greek Salad, but you DO get a generous hunk of good-quality feta in it. I've found the Greek proprietors that care put good quality Feta and olives in their salads. The Soup was homemade (I know this 'cos the affable owner guy told me so). It too, hit the spot. The half-banquettes have seen better days, and so has the men's facility, but they were clean. It's a no-nonsense joint a step above the norm. Not that far off the Kennedy Extension, and actually on the way to/from O'Hare. Eat here with no regrets!

A hot dog Chicago style with a cucumber slice added but not requested

We stopped in for lunch after passing by many times on Cumberland Ave. Luckily the restaurant has a lot parking in their shared shopping center parking lot. The restaurant has a diner look to it and it's very clean and well maintained. The service was efficient. The menu has all the typical hot dog joint offerings plus a few unique items like Mexican food dinners. The food was pricey and was good but we agreed if we want a hotdog there are other nearby restaurants we prefer. If you are in the area and haven't been to Plush Pup it's worth a try.

I stopped here for lunch and here's my review of Plush Pup. It's your typical Chicago large diner restaurant. I arrived and took in the vibes and walked up to place my order. Not sure what I wanted but after a quick scan I went with the pork Kabobs lunch meal for like $15.99. I got soup and a drink. I forgot the soup I got but I remember it was pretty good. Then here's my review of the main show which were the pork Kabobs. The Kabobs were on point and very flavorful and delicious! The rice and salad was a nice pairing with the meal. Overall it was a good meal for a decent price. I'd get it again. Keep up the great work Plush Pup!

Haven't been here in years and was in the area so I figured a return visit was called for. It's in a strip mall with ample parking. I recommend bringing cash, as there is a surcharge for credit cards. Stopped in around 12:30pm on a weekday and it was not busy. Service was fast but stoic. Love the 50's decor! The dining area was clean and comfortable. Ordered the char grilled hot dog with everything. Note that when you order a dog with everything, that does not include sport peppers. Those must be added separately. I also noticed that they don't put celery salt on their hot dogs. Not a big deal, but something that is different from other Chicago dogs. The dog also came with a slice of cucumber, which was also a variation from your typical Chicago dog. The cucumber was a nice touch and a bit refreshing. The char grilled dog itself was hot and juicy, and the toppings were generous. Unfortunately, the bottom of the hot dog bun was hard which downgraded my rating. They may want to check the freshness of their hot dog buns or steam them before using.

We ordered the 1/2 greek style chicken it was good...chicken was juicy and well seasoned

Onion rings, patty melt with fries

Had seen this place on instagram and also read that they serve a mean hotdog, the ambiance was super retro cute, and very clean. You order at the counter, and it seemed as if the cook/waiter was having a bit of a bad day, almost as if our presence was an annoyance. The woman checking us out was very friendly, and attentive, even while she was multi tasking with phone and pick up orders. Had the patty melt, ask for thousand island on the melt and you won't be disappointed! Side of fries were overdone, onion rings had too much breading, and the cheese sauce tasteless. Did also order the double cheeseburger which was fresh and tasty, but really could have enjoyed some awesome sides with those Sammy's which was a bit of a bummer. Oh well! One and done for this joint!

So I am havering a Hard time finding a decent beef sandwich in the area. Stopped into Plush Pup and they have a good beef as long as the bread and meet is wet . Good flavor in the juice. Make sure it's wet . Cheese fries were great! Fries were crispy and flavorful and cheese sauce tasted good. Pizza puff was meaty and flavorful. I would definitely give this place another try!

This place is a conundrum for me. I factor in price to a point, I don't mind spending money on a good meal. Hell, I've spent $95 dollars on a steak once, that didn't come with sides. I scoured the menu for a 2 dog meal deal which they didn't have. Maybe I overlooked it or they need to add one. The one hot dog meal deal consisted of a hot dog, medium soda, and fries for $9.25. If I bought everything individually, I would have spent $9.49. Wow, a .24 cents savings!!! I ordered a second dog, nonetheless. Ouch! I received my order quickly and sat down. I looked into a bag with a mound of piping hot fries and unwrapped my dog and was greeted with a snap dog with all the trimming including cucumbers and bright neon green relish. Things were looking up for that price point. I grabbed a handful of fries and noticed they really lacked salt. Thank goodness for salt shakers on the table. IMHO, if the fries aren't salted straight out of the fryer, the salt just bounces off the fry. I had to use ketchup for the fries so the salt could adhere to the fries. The fries might have been an oversight, so I was looking forward to pigging out on my snap dog. The pickle was large and filled up the bun, the cucumber and tomatoes were super fresh and were cut thick. I love the heat of the peppers but all the ingredients were out of proportion to the hot dog. The onions, wow, I love onions but it was swimming in onions plus they were lacking any true punch of flavor. All in all, it was good, not great. This place could be a solid 5 out of 5 if they tweak a couple of things. As it stands now, I give them a 3.0/5.0

Not good for what they charge. Fries were mushy and the beef was bland and a bit rubbery. Won't be back. Service was at least nice.

Hard to describe but you just know you're at a very important place but that doesn't take itself too seriously. There are burgers that are good, burgers that are great, and then there's Au Cheval. I went in with pretty ridiculous expectations considering this place has been called one of the best burger spots in the world...and somehow, the burger still delivered. That's rare. The patties were insanely juicy and perfectly cooked, with that beautiful crispy, caramelized edge you want from a great griddle burger. The combination of the melted cheese, creamy sauce, onions, pickles and that ridiculously buttery brioche bun was borderline unfair. Rich, messy, salty, savory and completely indulgent in the best possible way. And that bun deserves its own mention. Soft enough to absorb all that glorious burger juice without completely falling apart. The whole thing is constructed like someone actually understands what makes a burger great. Is it the best burger I've ever had? I DONT FUCKING KNOW. but I completely understand why people put Au Cheval in the conversation for best burger in America, if not the world. The hype is real. This is a fucking burger. 9.7/10

There is outdoor seating under a pergola lined with semi-private planters, while the inside features a bar, high tops, low tops, and large booths. The music was upbeat, giving the space an elevated lounge vibe that pairs really well with the upholstered booths and vintage industrial design. I ordered the Wolf Burger, which is a whopping three-patty burger. That first bite was juicy and pure bliss--a total explosion of great flavors. It was a little messy (like all burgers with an egg), but the extra liquid was perfect for balancing the density of such a meaty burger. The soft bun soaked in a lot of those juices with each bite, intensifying the flavor as I ate more. The fries were thin and on the greasier side--not my personal favorite, but they worked alright as a vehicle for the sauce. Speaking of which, the chili aioli served with the fries was fantastic. We also got the mac and cheese, which hit a great balance between rich and creamy without feeling excessively wet. The boat it came in was a bit small, making it a little messy to scoop out with the serving spoon, but it was soooo good. Overall, it is absolutely a fantastic neighborhood place for comfort food and drinks with friends in a great space!
