This was our first experience and we did takeout. Service was great. If you dine in you get salad experience (which other reviewers rave about) but if you do take out, you get two sides instead. I just equated the sides to be of a larger quantity and filling enough for 1 person at $20/entree. (See picture). Same goes for the hummus appetizer with chickpeas for $7. I get to write the First review ‼ This place is new, with clean renovated upscale dining space. The ambiance was sheik. We were invited to a soft opening to sample the menu. We drove in for this event from Baltimore and upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and seated promptly. Our orders were taken within 5 minutes we received our food 15 minutes later. My son and I enjoyed the shishlik pargiyot, beef kabobs and lamb approx $8 per skewer. Also came with some side dishes and sampling of Israeli salad's and pickles included with entree. I also had the Belgian beer on tap very cold and crisp -beer selection range from $4.50 to $5.50 very reasonable. Our total bill came out to be about $70. The waiter told me that my credit card did not work, and then said he was kidding. He just stood at my table looking at me, saying nothing. Then he told me to be careful putting my credit card into my wallet, which made no sense. This is the second time the waiter behaved so strangely. The bathroom needs to be cleaned more often, it was very dirty every time I went. I am not going to go there again unless the waiter is replaced with someone more pleasant. read more

we Ordered our food after the waiter came and marked off all the dishes they didn't have. Luckily none of us were interested in the eggplant,liver, sweetbreads and so on. The food was excellent but the experience was marred by the $20 plating fee for a birthday cake we brought. We weren't told there would be a charge when we asked abs brought it. There was no "presentation" - we were brought a pile of plates and a knife. Really annoying. I would not have known it was kosher if I had not been told. The food was plentiful and flavorful. I sampled everyone's order at our table of 8 people and found the food quality to be high. Starting with the complimentary unlimited dips (rotates daily but we had babajanooush, olives, pickled vegetables, roasted peppers, Israeli salad, and a few others), and really good pita. We ordered the humus plate with chickpeas and another with merguez sausage. I had not had humus with meat before but found it worked very well with the spice of the sausage working off the creaminess of the humus. For entrees we had the lamb, chicken and steak shishlik-kabobs, as well as a hamburger and a falafel platter. The meats were tender and well seasoned. The steak kabob is called Shishlik Entrecote, as Entrecote is French for the ribeye cut and denotes a high quality of meat and I would agree as the meat was tender and flavorful like a good ribeye should be. Now, again, this is a kosher restaurant so I tend to shy away from desserts in a meat restaurant. However, the Chocolate Lava cake may have been one of the best I have had, and this was repeated by others around the table. The cake portion was moist and spongy and the "lava" was heavenly without being cloying. I had the most pleasant time eating here with my family. The staff was incredible and extremely friendly. I created an account just so I could share how much I enjoyed my time here. I was greeted by 3 extremely handsome young men who were eager to help me with whatever request I needed. I don't remember their names, but 2 of them had longer hair, and one wore glasses with short brown hair. The service was incredible, but the food was even better! I really enjoyed the chef salad selections that come before the meal. I highly recommend getting the fish. I plan to take my family here again, as they were extremely assistive with my elderly parents. THEY DO NOT TAKE RESERVATIONS so coming earlier helped us get the best table. Came for a late lunch in lieu of dinner. Got the two skewer meal (ground lamb kabob and Shashlik entrecote [marinated steak] kabob) which comes with a side (an Israeli side salad was my choice) and the unlimited Al Ha'Esh Experience (a salatim with 6 ramekins containing tahini; curried chickpeas; cucumber, tomato and red onion salad; balsamic marinated mushrooms; pickles, cole slaw and couscous). It was excellent - extremely delicious, and with two helpings of the salatim, I was definitely full. I also ordered an appetizer portion of the merguez sausage, which I tried and was the best item on the meal. However, except for one bite, I took it home. When I got home, I weighed it and there over 9 oz of cooked merguez sausage - enough to keep me happy for a few days' meals. I also got a $5/glass of house red wine that was adequate (a malbec). Total bill was $40. The service was attentive and helpful. The atmosphere is very nice inside, despite the outside being an unimpressive strip mall that was a bit hard to find because the sign is small and low so it looks like part of Mott's Market. They do have limited outdoor dining and a brisk takeout service. Highly recommended for something unique and different but flavorful and delicious. My wife and I went here around 5pm on a Sunday. We got there right before the big dinner rush. First problem I saw was that the bar that serves beer and wine was right next to the line to wait for a table. It was impossible for someone to sit at the bar because of the line that was blocking the bar stools. The resturant did have a nice up grade in design and much bigger then the last one. Waiter was very nice. My wife ordered the 12oz steak with fries. I ordered the Jerusalem Mix witch is a mix of Chicken, Beef and Onions and my side was String beans. We both ordered from the Entree Section so we has a side option included. Also since we ordered a Entree we go the $9 bread and 12 Salads free. The Bread and Salads were excellent. My wife's 12oz Ribeye Steak was just ok. She asked for it well done and it came medium. Also it was very fatty. My wife said it was just ok. She felt as though the outside of the steak was well done and the inside was medium. She did like her fries though. My Jerusalem mix was not the best ever, but better then average. My String beans were also a little above average, but not WOW. I got the feeling the menu was the same as the last resturant with just a few more Israeli things added. Would I rush back again. I went to Al Ha'esh for my first time with my wife. The ambiance was really nice although it was in a strip mall. The service was great and we were immediately greeted with 10 salads that were middle eastern/Israeli style. Our server Kai, made sure to tell us only what was available so we wouldnt order something and find out that they were out of it. We had the pargiot skewers which were grilled to perfection. We decided to be daring and try the liver skewers which Kai admitted he does not eat, but has heard that they were excellent from other patrons. The salad experience that comes with everyone's meal is great. You get a variety of salads (about 10) and all are tasty. I especially liked the cucumber salad. My friend ordered falafel and hummus for her entree and I got to try some of it as well and it was pretty darn good. I got a kabob entree and what's really cool about that is that you get to choose two different types of kebabs for your platter. I highly, highly, extremely recommend that you get the green beans for your side no matter what you get for your entree. I've been to this restaurant twice. I am not Jewish and therefore I don't keep Kosher, but I have friends who do. I am also what could be considered a foodie and I not only cook a lot, but I grill quite a bit too. Both visits were very disappointing. The last time we were there with friends who keep Kosher. There aren't many Kosher restaurants in the area, especially if you want to drink wine . . . So this one seemed to be a good choice for that reason. The good: (1) The hummus, the grilled eggplant, and all the little dishes (salads) were not bad. (2) The servers were hard-working and pleasant; however, please see "the bad" #3 below . . . The bad: (1) Both times I've been there, the kebabs we ordered were bland, too salty, and terribly overcooked. These kebabs were of various meats: beef, lamb, sweetbreads . . . all of them were as just described. The salt was overpowering, and they were hard as rock and otherwise tasteless. (2) Additionally, one of the people in our party of six ordered the steak. It is horribly overpriced ($31) for what you get, and really not that great. And the "Jerusalem Mix", ordered by an Israeli, was not, in his words, what it should be . . . (3) They didn't have enough staff to properly serve customers: there were at least three tables not being cleaned up for over half an hour while lots of customers were in line waiting to be seated. It seems that Sunday dinners are always like this, and they know it. So if they know it, why not plan for additional staff instead of providing bad customer service? Bottom line: In general, the items are very overpriced for what you get. I believe they need more competition from other Kosher restaurants. My wife wanted to go to this restaurant again for Mother's Day. I've experienced really poor service at this restaurant in the past, but they actually ruined our experience. We waited an hour and a half while other tables got their food around us in 30 minutes. The wait staff never asked us to refill our water or came to bring more table salad. We finally asked to take our food home. I was really angry and they didn't see to care. I sent a note to the owner at Kosher Mart with no response. My wife finally agreed that we will never go back to this restaurant again-- plus the food is pretty bland and tasteless. It's a real pity they don't have competition for a great kosher restaurant-- it would improve this restaurant or they would be out of business. We are never going back. read more

This is a great hidden gem. I say hidden because from the outside it doesn't look like much but once you step inside the dining room, the atmosphere is much nicer, the smells are amazing and the place clean and cozy. The wait staff was very friendly and the place really picked up after 1pm on a Wednesday. The Al Haesh experience is a nice touch which includes the fluffiest pita bread I've ever had and an array of small plates of "salads". The beet salad was nice and the pickles were my fave. They're not anything extraordinary but again, a nice touch while you're waiting on food. I got the falafel with string beans and my friend got a grilled mix of beef and chicken. I don't know about the other dishes but ours were spices really well. A little bit on the spicy side but that's how I prefer it so if you don't like super strong flavors then I would probably go with something else. Went there this weekend with my mother, friend and daughter. The food was excellent. We ordered regular hummus, which I'm usually not a fan of, but this was excellent and very tasty with a nice garlicky flavor. We also ordered the falafels, which oddly didn't have its regular shape, but very tasty - again, not usually a fan of falafels or deep fried foods, but this had a very nice mix and balance of herbs and mints that were very pleasant. The assortment of pickled vegetables were great. My daughter had chicken nuggets and those seemed freshly made. She like it, but loved the grilled branzino even more. My sister and I had the branzino with the rice and with the Isreali salad. Fish was excellent - pleasantly under-salted, very well seasoned and great chars. So the food was top-notch! But... service could use a little improvement. We waited 10 minutes to get water... another 5 for a waiter... who did not introduce himself. The atmosphere between staff seemed strange and tense - not sure what was happening. No one was particularly rude to us, but no one exactly checked on us much - as in if we liked the food, or needed anything else. We all have good and bad days and we should all try to leave it at the door - that's for everyone, staff and customers. Would I come back? Yes and give it another chance, but staff should just do their best to put their best food forward. We had lunch here yesterday. The food was very good. The small dish appetizers are great and with the huge bread that comes with them, it's easy to overdo this part of the meal. I had two skewers - one dark meat chicken and the other beef kabob. The chicken was tender and very tasty and, for me, better than the beef kabob. My husband had the lamb chops. He said they were very good but at $30 for three quite small chops, we both agreed it was rather expensive. We will definitely come back. The food here is Kosher and tasty but the service is lacking. Typical Israeli style grill, entrees come with a variety of small salads/appetizers and fresh pita. Part of the thrill of being in a restaurant is being served attentively, in this area the place needs to improve or we will not be returning for a while. The evening we were there we were seated for a good 15 minutes before anyone brought us water, menus or welcomed us. This lack of attention continued throughout the evening and the restaurant did not really seem that busy. It just made the dining experience annoying. I came here for lunch with my boyfriend. We ordered two skewers (beef and lamb) with a side of Basmati rice. Our entree came with the Al Ha'esh salad experience (which includes beets, cucumbers, and red cabbage among a few other things) and pita bread. The beef and lamb skewers were pretty tasty, as was the Basmati rice. We loved the bread! However, I was a bit disappointed in the service. Although the place was not overly-crowded, the service was quite slow. When my check came, I was overcharged $4 on the skewers, but was irritated with how long it even took to get someone to come to my table that I just let it go. I'd heard good things about the restaurant and since we were in the area we decided to check it out. We will not be going back. The overall experience was pretty poor. This is the first Yelp review i've ever written because i am not particularly picky but i felt really let down by this place. My main complaint was that i ordered chicken livers (maybe that was a bad choice?) and they came to the table basically raw. Red, mushy chicken liver is about the least appetizing food you can find. I was reassured by three different staff members that this was one of their most popular items and treated like i was a crazy lunatic for not enjoying the squishy, unappealing, and undercooked livers. Since my waiter never looked our way, i hailed the demonic-looking waiter with the big beard who literally was running through the restaurant. He took the entire platter (including a lamb skewer and zucchini) away and back to the kitchen. I hailed the original waiter and asked him what was going on and he brought me back the original platter and put it down in front of me. I gagged at the raw liver and said i couldn't eat it and he just looked at me with no concern about how to make his customer happy. He tried to take the plate back again but i had him put it down, removed the livers to another plate sitting on the table, and kept the lamb and zucchini. He did then offer that i could get another item and i requested beef. After about 10 minutes i got a kebab of beef sitting forlornly on a place which tasted okay but was kind of anticlimactic since the rest of my meal and that of my companion was long gone. After delivery of the kebab, the waiter just ignored us the rest of the time. We had to ask for the check from the demon waiter and then it took them forever to take the card and process the charge. We were never offered any opportunity to see the dessert or coffee menu; and no further interaction, and clearly no concern for our experience. Maybe if you keep kosher and don't have many dining options you can overlook the lack of care on the part of the staff, and maybe a $40 food bill seems reasonable but if you are in the area and don't need kosher food, head on over to the Big Greek Cafe where they will kibbitz with you and feed you authentic, delicious, plentiful and reasonably priced food. Or if you want some delicious chicken liver, find a Nando's PerI Peri and enjoy the well-cooked, deliciously seasoned and reasonably priced dish they serve. We were a party of 4, (3 adults and one child), drove 1 hr to check this place out. Arrived for dinner at 5pm. Restaurant opens for dinner at 5 and fills to capacity very quickly. Line formed into parking lot. Seating was available and rather quick since we arrived early. Wait staff is sweet and courteous but stretched thin, so you will wait for the waiter to return since the whole restaurant just got seated. Appetizers with fresh fluffy pita came rather quickly. Orders for 4 entrees consisting of dozen skewers came with confusion. Shishlik skewers were mixed up: lamb vs beef vs medium rare vs well done and waiters could not figure out what skewer was for what person. Servers are well meaning, but they don't control the kitchen or the bar. We asked another waiter a question, he left presumably to get an answer and didn't return. Alcohol is served but some bottled beers on menu were unavailable and what we were told was available on tap only 1 of 3 ordered beers came and turned out unavailable also, and staff would not replenish empty kegs to sell us beers even though we were willing to wait. Some deserts were unavailable also. Judge for yourself: the food menu is one page long, desert menu is one page long, alcohol menu is one page long. Unavailable menu items are annoying to patrons, also are a loss of sales for restaurant. Mistakes happen but just fix it or offer complimentary dessert...as would be an example of best industry practice. decided to try Al Ha'esh today with a friend for the first time we drove 50 minutes to get there after being told there was no need for a reservation. We were absolutely blown away. The place was very clean and inviting and the staff was very friendly.We were very surprised by the fast and informed server we had who walked us through the whole menu. Salads were served even before we ordered and were absolutely fantastic a really authentic Israeli style treat. food was priced a bit high but well worth the trip. food was served quickly, had a beautiful presentation and was fantastic very flavorful and cooked perfectly. The worst customer service ever the manager was not friendly,this is a true story my baby boy has his 3rds birthday on this Sunday and my wife and my baby girl and me want to make his day nice with a "great food " but the salads in the and the food was at least two days old and my son has his stomach hurt into mentioned that these no AC working at the restaurant in the heat was 104°F my wife was very upset because the service was not good the AC was not working and even the salad was at least 2three days old and the bill was $104 so we don't that being safe and we trying to be very polite we didn't leave any kind of tape obviously you know the story so when we walk out the restaurant without any drama guess what the manager by himself went outside and tell me front of my kids and my wife and other people that I didn't give a tip to the guys I was in shock noticed that the customer service was very bad the food was very bad my baby boy had the stomach hurt no AC working at the restaurant and on the top and that they're asking for a tip after they charge me $104 for the meal that we just had witches we return all the salads back and some of the food back I never have this experience in my life at the restaurant and I'm sure if the health department would check this restaurant they won't cancel their license and somebody have to teach this owner/manager how to treat the customer. My father and I ate here on Wednesday and were told that it was only their third day taking walk ins. They were very busy during the lunch hour but stayed on top of the service through out the meal. For a restaurant that just opened, they were running very efficiently in the front of house. The salads were great and tasted just like those you would receive in Israel. The food came out in a timely matter even with a crowded dining room and was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend the pargiyot and I can not wait to taste some of the other meats.
