Ayanna was amazing. I went to order my food and I'm glad she was the one helping me through the process because she was super helpful and very friendly. I told her it was my first time and she helped me pick the best things on their menu. At the end she also gave me a vulture so the next time I go i can get a free sandwich. She also gave me a drink of the house which was great. Now the food was pretty good. I got the brisket and the ribs with a side of Mac and cheese. The brisket was alright, some parts of it we incredibly salty and some didn't have any flavor but because they had a bunch of different BBQ sauces on each table for you to use it helped. A few of us was recommended Mission BBQ since we wanted something different. This spot is located on Rockville Pike near other restaurants and has a private parking lot with lots of spaces. After looking over the menu which has plenty of options, we placed our order online which was fairly easy. GRILLED SHRIMP ($13.84) The size is just as i wished and grilled to perfection, this was sooooo good esp with the BBQ sauce. I'm glad they have seafood options instead of just meats. SALMON ($15) They give a decent size and it was cooked well, I just wished it was grilled like the shrimp. It have more baked that grilled in my opinion. If this had char marks with extra smoky flavor, it would be perfect for me plus with the BBQ sauce, chefs kiss. MAC N CHEESE ($3.39) Sadly, I was disappointed in the mac n cheese, it wasn't flavorful nor cheesy in how I expected. The presentation was beautiful but the taste didn't match expectations. Maybe using a different cheeses and/or sauce base and adding more seasoning might help. CORN ON THE COB & DRINK DEAL ($5.75) I haven't had corn in forever but this was good esp being grilled and buttery. I got 1/2 tea 1/2 lemonade and BABYYYYY this was perfect!!! This drink alone needed to be in a gallon container bc the way I wanted more was insane lol. CORNBREAD (FREE) It was a cute size, definitely perfect for the meal but if you can eat it all, you must have a big appetite because the food was beyond filing. I usually try to go to Mission BBQ at noon. Since it is a military-themed restaurant, they play the National anthem at that time. I like to stand up and place may hand over my heart. (I'm not kilowatt, but I know the tradition.) Being a retired bass player, I like to sing the bass line along with the band. I'm probably the only patron to do so. Now to the food. We love the ribs. I especially enjoy experimenting with the different sauce recipes. (have yet to try one that I didn't love.) My wife likes ordering other items that they sell, often the salmon, or the brisket. Came for lunch today. I got the 2-item platter with two sides, as did my partner. Between the two of us, we got moist brisket, ribs and classic sausage. For sides, we got cole slaw, potato salad and baked beans. Each platter comes with a cornbread. Ok, so here goes. The sausage and ribs were delicious. The sides were delicious. The corn bread was delicious. And the moist brisket was . . . Brisket. It wasn't particularly moist and it tasted like what I would get if I bought a brisket at the grocery store and cooked it myself. It tasted like a piece of brisket. No smokiness, no sense of it being cooked for hours with any particular style or care. It's really disappointing. Like, I'm not getting that again. I watched as the kitchen sliced it and I could tell while watching that it was not particularly moist. The people working there were friendly and came by a couple of times to see how we were doing and to clear off the table when one of us was done. There are six sauces available and each is different, with varying degrees of spiciness and sweetness. Of the six, I preferred the Memphis Belle, Smoky Mountain and Tupelo Honey Heat. The sauces remind me of one other thing. To me (I lived 7 years in Texas outside of Houston), moist brisket should be outstanding on its own and shouldn't need sauce. But this brisket, being neither particularly moist (we both asked for moist) or unique, benefited from a liberal use of sauce. Unfortunately. I'd like to give the place a 3.5 because the brisket is so disappointing, but am rounding up for the friendly staff, the sausage and ribs were good, and the availability of 6 interesting and tasty bbq sauces. read more

Had dinner with my Mom at Mission BBQ for the first time. This is the most patriotic restaurant I have ever been to and I LIVE for this!!!!! My experience with service here has always been lovely. All the food was delicious. They gave me a big portion of barbeque pulled chicken in my sandwich. So I had to save most of my sides for later. This moist brisket is terrible. It is dry with no fat, no tenderness. It cannot be described as moist. I lived in TX before, so I know what moist brisket should taste like. This is not it. Do not get this. Also too salty Ribs - These are ok, edible. Definitely the best meat that this mission location serves. But it was dry, cold, and overall just ok. Jalapeño cheese sausage - Also just ok, and cold. It's fine, but not particularly special. Collard greens - These are good but salty. Cole slaw and cornbread - These are the two best dishes on the menu. If you come here, these are the two things to get. I don't think other dishes are worth eating here. I wanted to like this mission bbq. Having lived in TX, I miss eating good bbq a couple times a week. But this store is not the solution. Recommendations to the manager: if you set a pickup time, try to pack the food as close to pickup time as possible. Your team packed my food at least 15 minutes early, and after a 3 minute drive home, the food was cold. Not even warm. Bbq doesn't taste good cold. And don't serve "moist" brisket that isn't moist. It's misleading and some people really don't want to eat lean brisket. Lastly, try make more effort not to overcook and dry out your meat, and take it easy on the salt.
