Having arrived Niagara Falls from Toronto, we were enticed by their big sign that says $9.99 breakfast buffet. With hungry bellies, we didn't even bother reading the reviews and went immediately in. We asked for tap waters while getting settled. We were told they don't offer any tap water! What?!? I should've listened to my gut and walked away but didn't. Shoulda, coulda, woulda...oh well, the best item on the buffet were the tater tots! Waffles, pancakes, and French toast were ok! The bacon was too oily and hard! The sausages were salty and fatty! The children devoured the tater tots and jello. One kid ended throwing up all her meal in the vehicle! Food poisoning? You bet! read more

When you think of typical American cuisine, you don't expect the food to be spicey or even particularly flavourful. That is exactly how the food is here. You do have the option of adding salt, pepper, and ketchup to your food to make it more to your own taste. There were quite a few food choices in the dinner buffet that we went for: Mussels, Fries, Pizza, Perogies, Samosas, Steamed Fish Fillet, Seasoned Chicken, Meatballs, Sweet 'n' Sour Chicken, Rare Beef Slices in Gravy, Ribs, Lasagna, Pasta, Cold Salads (Tomato, Tuna Noodle, and Mixed Salad with condiments), Seasoned Fried Potatoes, and Soup. Desserts included Rice Pudding, Ice Cream, Fresh Fruit, and Cake. We overheard another server tell some other customers about a barbeque outside, but this was after we were already done eating our meal. Maybe our server didn't tell us the same thing because we had come in earlier and the barbeque hadn't been set up at that time (around 7PM)? The whole time we were there, we observed the food being replenished regularly. Everything was hot and reasonably fresh. You need to be careful when picking plates - we found quite a few that were either still dirty, or foamy and wet. The all you can eat buffet here is for $22.99 plus tax per person. That is a reasonable enough price for a tourist town like Niagara Falls. The drawback is that this restaurant does not provide free tap water with your meals like other restaurants do. The cheapest drink that you can buy here is a simple, small plastic bottle of water that they charge $3.99 plus tax for (any dollar store in Canada sells this very same bottle of water for just $0.25 plus tax). I guess you can try to resist wasting money on drinks by eating the fruit, but the amount of salt that you need to add to make the food palatable will make you very thirsty. My wife and my meals came to about $70 (2 dinner buffet meals with 2 bottles of water (plus tax), along with a 15% tip for our very attentive server). Our only honest suggestion to this establishment is to start providing the free simple basic tap water that everyone takes for granted. Syrup had a metallic taste, sausages were dry, bacon was weird tasting, eggs were dry, and the list goes on. Every time we have gone to Al Mac's (whether by ourselves, with a friend or with the kids) everyone was happy with the choices. If something is "not to your picky liking", you can ask for another plate. Anyone who would complain about the selection here should go back to the catered home parties. LOL. Not sure why the reviews are bad but it's actually quite decent. I wanted to give it 3.5 stars actually. The service was incredibly slow but they do have social distancing guidelines. The server will usually get your meal from the buffet table and you just need to ask for replenishment if you want more. I believe the price was either $7.99 / $8.99 but it was worth it. Mind you that drinks are additional cost including water. They only serve bottled water so either way, you're going to pay. If you want orange or apple juice, I think it's about $6 or $7 extra so just watch out. I understand that they need to make a profit in other areas but you get what you pay for. Overall, I'm satisfied with the food. The bacon was crispy, hash brown and sausage was good. Although the waffle was tough so I couldn't really eat it. Can't really complain with breakfast menu items. Considering that many chains and bigger restaurants increased their prices during Covid (Calamari for $30 or pasta for $60), this is a pretty bang on deal! read more

Long lines, garbage eggs, sad toast, fatty/flaccid bacon, barely cooked tater totts, sausages that wouldn't satisfy your 97 year old grandmother and coffee that resembled mud water. Also, you have to pay for actual water. There were 737,000 people in line to collect their piece of this all-you-can-eat rabbit shit slop. My wife received a free colonoscopy 5 mins after we left while I am now suffering from PTSD and IBS. Buffets sound like a great idea if done well. If not, it can be a harrowing experience that will make you hate food and question your own existence. Almacs is certainly the latter. It was only after our trips to the bathroom, that we realized we would've been better off going to no frills, buying a package of Schneiders bologna, and throwing it at each others mouths in bed. After we are seated, there is a super long line up to the buffet table to get food. Guests piled up their plate so high, I rarely see that at other buffets, as if they haven't eaten for 10 days. (Maybe ppl are worry food will run out.) Food choices are ok, but all tasted blend. And the THUMB-DOWN part is they don't give you water to drink, you have to pay for water. We were definitely drawn to this pace by the huge sign advertising $6.99 breakfast buffet and it seemed attractive after our disappointing experience with the service and price of IHOP at the Sheraton Four Points. We walked in and were promptly greeted and seated by the hostess. The server was very friendly and took our drink orders and directed us to the buffet. She told us that drinks are not included in the buffet but failed to tell us that it was $2.99 (even for a small cup of weak coffee). So we ordered 2 coffees abs a juice which she brought right away. The buffet itself was average fare with some Greek dishes (I don't know exactly what). The eggs and sausages were good but although the bacon was nice and thick it was quite over cooked (almost burnt). But you can't really complain about $6.99 for breakfast can you? Or so I thought... Part way through the meal we asked for some ice water but were told they only have bottled for $2.99. WTF?? What kind of restaurant doesn't serve ice water in a glass?? They obviously have it! Very poor selection of food for a buffet. Waffles, pancakes, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, jello and canned pineapple. Worse of all, coffee was $3.98/cup. It sounded like a great place to eat, until we arrived inside. $11.99 for a breakfast buffet sounded like the best place to eat in Niagara Falls, but like they say "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". There was a funky smell outside the restaurant, unsure of its origin until we lifted the lid on the "bacon?" and realized THAT was the funky smell, also had ham covered in some type of coating which tasted horrible. How wrong can you go with scrambled eggs anyways....sides that I saw were bacon, sausage and ham. ....i did not enjoy the pancakes but you might like them. They have Greek Yogurt with fruits(I believe canned fruits) no fresh fruits. They had banana bread ...and rice pudding for desert. My family and I went camping in Niagara Falls over the weekend. On Saturday evening we drove towards down town to get a bite to eat and noticed a buffet restaurant with lots of parking. The place was nice and clean, the staff was friendly and we didn't wait too long to be seated. I did enjoy the food, the spicy mussels and the salmon were delicious, I love seafood. Only $3 bottle water. $4 for a 4 oz cup of coffee! US dollars! So the deal was not a deal EVEN if the food was good. It was NOT! This was the most disgusting excuse for food we have ever encountered. We sampled the "omelette" , the scrambled eggs, hash browns, the French toast and "Belgian waffle" along with the sausage and bacon and rice pudding. Bacon was not real bacon. Hard and awful. The sausage when bitten into seemed to ooze of what seemed to be white grease - not even real meat. No clue what was in it. All the food was cold! Not even lukewarm. Bland, tasteless and over cooked (eggs that tasted powdered) or undercooked (hash browns) are a few words that come to mind. If you could award negative stars this place would warrant negative 5 stars. Run away fast from here. Head for the hills! Run down the hill and don't look back! In hind sight I think we would rather have gone hungry than subject ourselves to this greasy salty collection of carbs and fat. We walked out! We went on boxing day, and it was absolutely packed, which to me isn't necessarily a bad thing. I like the idea of a lot of people having the money to afford AYCE buffets. But according to one of the service staff, this is business as usual on weekends and holidays. It's breakfast buffet, and there wasn't much in terms of variety. Lots of bacon, sausages, pancakes, french toast, and hashbrowns, but not much in terms of fruits or vegetables. I guess people don't eat those for breakfast, or my standards for breakfast is too high. I enjoyed the hashbrowns, but everything else was either too salty or too sweet. Bacon felt too over-cooked, or maybe that's just how it comes. Whereas the buffet itself is $5.99, they charge $2.99 for bottled water, $3.99 for a small glass of minute maid juice (from fountain machines), citing the fact that they're charging so low for the food. You might as well treat yourself to one of their $5 alcoholic drinks they advertise on the menu. $5.99 buffet appears to be the standard in the area though, so I'm not sure how it compares to the other places. read more
