While spending a few days in the Niagara Falls area, I noticed this place while driving around town. It's a fairly new, nice looking building, and they have signs out front advertising their $6.99 Breakfast Buffet. Well... that was enough to get me interested (especially since most things in this town are quite OVER-priced). The interior of the place IS nice. The tables and chairs all look like quality stuff. The decor was decent. But, here's where the problems set in... the "food". I don't know how many breakfast buffets YOU'VE gone to, but I know that 'I've" gone to quite a few. Usually when you go to a "buffet" you expect a fairly large selection... well... don't expect that here. Yes, they had most of the breakfast "staples"... pancakes, waffles, eggs, sausage, potatoes (in various forms), etc... But, there really wasn't much else. AND... the only fruit that they had to choose from was a BIG bowl of fruit cocktail (which looked like it had just come out of the can... in fact, I'm sure it had). Then, as for the pastry selection... it was pretty abysmal. I mean, even the little breakfast put on by the hotel that I was staying at had a better pastry selection! That's sad. And, just like another person mentioned, any type of drink (other than water, I suppose) is extra... and they definitely charge you a premium for that drink as well. So, your $6.99 breakfast buffet with a drink REALLY ends up being around 10 bucks a person (which isn't such a great deal anymore... although, for Niagara Falls, this still might be). It's not that the food is bad, it was okay... it's just that when you go to a buffet, you really do expect to see more choices than this place offers. The next day I noticed another breakfast buffet place in town ALSO advertising a $6.99 breakfast buffet. Well, I walked in that place the next morning only to find the EXACT SAME SELECTION as "AlMacs" (right down to the large bowl of fruit cocktail)!! I don't know if the two places were owned by the same person or what? Anyway... if you don't mind a SMALL selection, then give this place a try. If you are looking for a better selection though, you will most certainly want to look elsewhere. read more

Wow!!! This is the most horrible place I ever visited when it comes to breakfast. Food tasted like cardboard the pancakes were dry, so dry the edges were crunchy. My girl got OJ a nice small glass that tasted more like TANG than orange juice. The price for the OJ was $3.99CND so come on at least put some real stuff in the glass. We tried everything on the buffet menu. The only thing that deserves more than one star were the eggs cuz that is very hard to screw up. Cheap price = cheap food and extra charges where possible. The advertised "Belgium Waffles" are dinky and extra calories with none of the pleasure. The fruit is canned and pretty disgusting. All drinks cost $2.99 (yes you have to buy bottle water, they refuse to give out tap). The hash browns were crunchy and well made (deep fried frozen ones can be pretty good). The bacon and sausage were awful (bacon was over cooked and looked like animal scraps and sausage was full of filler, and very little meat). applesauce looked unappetizing, but didn't taste that bad. Omelette with cheese (yes, a premade omelette was the only kind of omelette they had) was decent as well. Staff is used to tourists, and, while not impolite, no one pretends this is a good restaurant with good food. Breakfast buffet price is $6.99 for adults and $5.99 for kids. Eat, don't eat, it's still cheaper than the ihop. Would IHOP's food be better... who knows. Me and my family were visiting Canada for the week and, It was our last day and we were looking for A small buffet to go to for dinner. but we forgot to look at the ratings and we went there and I was regretting going there, but we went there anyway and the service was nice but when we were getting food we noticed that some of the plates were not clean so I had to almost go thru the whole pile of plates and bowls to find clean ones, and the food was mostly good except I wanted to go get dessert and I found the ice cream surprisingly but when I open that container, A fly came out but luckily I was already filled up and when we went to pay it cost surprisingly a lot but that was OK so it wasn't really that bad but it wasn't really the best quality Buffet. 3/10 read more

This place... sigh ** i was excited about but man oh man. Where do i begin? The breakfast buffet is a nice selection but avoid the waffles they are hard as rock and they are dryyy as idk what. I dont like to waste food AT ALL but in this case i struggled to finish it. The charge 6.99 per person, (great price) drink are seperate charge. Drinks are 3.99 come in a medium size cup. OJ and apple u dont get refills on and u get a small amount. They dont serve water here, u have to buy a bottle water for $3 Soft drinks are $3.99 as well but they have refills, yay for that! Overall, this place is whatever. Only thing my husband and i like were there tater tots. They were nice and crunchy. We are visiting from usa, but when we come back we wont be coming back here again. We left Great Wolf Lodge on Sunday morning around 8:30 to grab breakfast. It seems like everything opens late on Sunday. We found this place so we decided to give it a try. It was raining hard! I dropped my wife and two young boys off at the door. I parked the truck and made my way to the door to find my wife and kids standing under a part of cover by the front door. Seems the manager (I guess she was due to the blue shirt) told my wife that she couldn't wait inside. Not understanding why but made no sense. We were finally seated and made our way to the Buffett. Everything initially looked good under we got close to it. I was now able to see why the Buffett is $6.99. They also charge $2.99 per drink no free refills. Even bottled water! I ordered a coffee but found it would have been better off stripping paint off walls. Kids got small cups of juice. Everything was $2.99 each! No matter the size. So lets get down to the Buffett. They had in total about 8 items. Everything was disgusting. The bacon tasted like it was fried in month old grease. The pancakes and French toast were old and hard. The sausage tasted like charred hotdogs. The eggs had no taste at all. The Greek yogurt was so sweet I thought honey bee's would be swarming me at any minute. I must say out of everything in that building the fritters were one thing that had me! Even if they were store bought, from a box! So Canada is truly beautiful. The people are friendly and Niagara is bustling with tourists. However the breakfast is not that memorable. We went looking for good breakfast and the hotel staff recommended "Al Mac's Buffet." We decide to go and find out. Al's has all the makings of a great spot. Great atmosphere, wonderful staff, just one element missing......good food. We got there and the place was packed! That's normally a good sign. We had to split into two tables because it was so busy. It's all you can eat but the change for the drinks separately. We all sat down and began to dive in. But once we sat down and ate, the jig was up. The food was average. The only thing on the menu that was worth the time was the sausage. It was something I've never tasted before. I loved the flavor and juicy texture to it. It was definitely better then any sausage I've had before. That and the cinnamon zeppoli's were worth it. The rest of the menu (which was limited) was not worth it. I have not yet been blown away yet by Canadian food, but the day is long and I intend to eat. read more

I'll admit I stopped in here because I saw a $6.99 buffet advertised on the outside. I hadn't had breakfast, and it was close to lunch, so I thought a buffet brunch would be a good idea. As many other reviewers have pointed out the buffet price does not include the price of drinks, so unless you're not having anything (including water) to drink the price will be more than the advertised $6.99. The restaurant itself is fairly big, and quite busy (at least on a Sunday at 11am). It's mostly families, and probably tourists (like me). Since it's a buffet there's no wait for food, which is nice. I ordered a coffee and that did take a few minutes, but the waitress was nice. It was also busy, so understandable. The food, for a buffet was all right. It was mostly breakfast foods, eggs, bacon, waffles, etc. They had a selection of Greek food, but breakfast food as well. There were these little honey glazed donut things that were amazing, and the rice pudding was delicious. I went back for seconds on that. I judged a buffet not only on my experience at the buffet, but also on my experience after I leave. Too many times (at least for me) going to a buffet means dealing with an upset stomach after. Good news about Al Mac's is I felt fine all day after I ate there, which is always a good thing. The food is okay, and it's quite busy. I can't say if I were in Niagara Falls again that I'd go out of my way to eat here, but if I was in the area it would be a fair contender for breakfast. read more

The overall idea of the establishment is very appealing. An all you can eat buffet for a subjectively low price, however I was not surprised regarding the quality of the food ( my expectations were low due to the price ), and yes how me and my family were treated by the waitress. She was very rude and abrasive. When I repeated what she had said in order to obtain confirmation, she said in a non-pleasant tone: "That's what I just said." Me and my family did not find it nice. A group of us ate at this place for breakfast because we thought what a great price for a breakfast buffet. Little did we know what we were about to eat. When we asked the waitress if we can get poached eggs instead of scrambled her response was "We don't have a single egg in the restaurant". Which means the eggs came from a box, it's not real eggs but processed garbage. The sausages were nasty and also tasted fake. The drinks are double priced and when I asked for a glass of water the waitress said they don't have tap water and only bottled water for $3. Which is illegal, because it's the law in Ontario that a restaurant must offer free tap water to customers for health reasons. The bacon tasted like plastic and is the worst I've ever eaten. My family and I dined at Almacs buffet restaurant on Sunday 23rd October for breakfast and we were greeted in a quite friendly manner and the young lady that served was pleasant..she told us the price of the buffet ..explained that the coffee had free refills (which we already knew)..and so we decided to go again this morning since the food..the price and the service was good..however when we were seated we had a different waitress and she told us the price quite bluntly and didnt even direct us to the buffet station or tell us the price of the coffee..but just asked yet again in a hostile tone if we wanted tea or coffee..my husband does not drink coffee..so I told her just one coffee..we took our seats..had our meals..and I noticed that among the 4 tables that were dining (ALL OTHER TABLES WERE WHITE CUSTOMERS)..she frequently went by ALL the others and asked if they were okay or wanted anything..I had to gesture to her that I wanted another coffee and she didnt even make eye contact with me when she reached our table..all she said was "ok" and walked off..I saw her walk to the register..wipe the counter..walk to the back..walk back out..seat another family..then bring the coffee..I had no problem..We finished our meal..She gave the table opposite us the bill so I asked for our bill too..when she brought it..my husband paid cash and then politely asked if I (me) could get another refill..in a LOUD..RUDE TONE..she said.."YOU'RE SHARING..!!!!!!!! Being super hungry before leaving Niagara Falls, my girlfriends and I saw the Al Mac's 6.99$ breakfast buffet sign and decided we should stop there because of the low price and the fact that we thought messing up basic breakfast food is nearly impossible (we were wrong)... One of the two stars is because of the low price. 6.99 is indeed cheaper than a McDonald's combo. The second star is for the super sweet and attentive waitress. The food tho.. it is absolutely horrible. Only the hash browns are ok (at best). Do yourself a huge favour and stay away from the eggs. The buffet had very basic breakfast food like pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausage, omelet, hash browns, toast and an assortment of fruits. The food was kind of stale and very low quality. When I go to a restaurant I always order drinks and a glass of water to go with. Unfortunately here at AlMacs they will deny you a glass of water because they expect you to purchase a bottle for $2.99 If a customer is not purchasing another drink I can understand them asking you to buy the water since the breakfast is so cheap. But if you are purchasing drinks asking me to buy your $3 water is unacceptable! The service is slow and it's due to being understaffed for the type of service they offer now. We can't go get our own food the servers bring a platter with a bit of everything to the tables now. And that's fine but you need to staff accordingly. Sooooo we were trying to do Niagara on a budget and this place definitely helped. Thankfully, not only was it cheap with free parking but the food was good as well. We went for the breakfast buffet and the spread they had was fantastic! Eggs, bacon, ham, pancakes, waffles, fritters, yogurt, etc.... breakfast dream come true. The staff is all pretty young either high school or college kids but none were ever rude and our waitress was super attentive even though the place was packed, wish I remembered her name. I would definitely recommend this place even if you have some extra bucks to spend since it doesn't lack anything from the bigger spots. And you can't get a glass of water with your meal, yes they don't serve tap water period, even if you've paid the sky high prices for apple juice and orange juice @ $3.00 per drink for a small glass and no refills. We found this restaurant looking for a breakfast buffet. $6.99 for the buffet, drink is extra. The wait staff was attentive immediately. We were seated quickly and our waitress was quick to take our drink orders. Water is by bottle only 2.99. Coffee was 2.99. The food was the worst I've ever tasted in a restaurant. The eggs were dry. The bacon was burnt and the ham was covered in what appeared to be corn meal and fried. French toast was dry and tasteless and they didn't have any sugar free syrup. They said they ran out. Oatmeal tasted ok and then they had applesauce and fruit. Toast was ok. I did feel bad for our waitress as she kept apologizing to us. We tipped her well as it wasn't her fault. Even the scrambled eggs were bad! The only thing we half way liked were some donut balls. Absolutely everything else was bad.
