Best, freshest fish tacos on Kaua'i or any place I've been. They have their own boat. Name sake Al Pastor is great. Too many great choices to get through in 2 weeks. They've been here 12 years and we've eaten here all 12. Ask a "local" they'll tell ya

Good burrito with lots of yummy filling as well as chips and salsa. Nice service as well. Lots of tables to sit at right outside of where you order at the food truck with covering as well so you are out of the sun!

Great location right off the Ke Ala Hele trail and there's tons of parking and seating. Service was wonderful and the wait time was fast. -lots of food and it ranged from around $14-$16 for two tacos, rice, and beans -the Al pastor tacos were tasty, but there needed to be more pineapple -the fish tacos were good, but needed more acid / onions -they have a 3.7% credit card service charge, so if you have cash, use it!

Tuna tacos were good, so was shrimp burrito ,a lot of people in line . I'm going back next time I'm in Kauai.

Got the shrimp tacos and ahi tuna taco. Both were bland. The corn tortilla was not heated or grilled. Lifeless fish and shrimp: no sear, no flavor, no grill marks. Cabbage and sauce were bright and promising but lacked flavor. Overall the tacos didn't deliver any freshness or flavor. Would not recommend.

Love the energy and friendliness here. The worker was so nice and sweet. Very gentle attitude. I got the steak taco (YUM YOU GOTTA GET IT) and a fish burrito. The steak taco has so much juicy flavor and it's so tasty. I paused in awe halfway through my first bite, I kid you not. Super yummy. I like how they space out two tortillas so it's a longer taco. Packed with meat. The fish burrito was just all right I will say. The sauce it comes with is just fine. I wish I had gotten fish tacos, but the burrito is a good size, good decent burrito. It didn't have the same majesty as the taco. Great outdoor seating. Super windy though. Nice shade.

Great tacos! That's my go to whenever I come here. The last couple of times, I've done a shrimp & fish combo. The great thing is that it's fresh, local caught, so one day you might get ahi, another day you might get mahi mahi. The lady who runs it is so sweet & easy to talk to. This is right up the street from where I live in Kapaa, so it's my go-to if I'm wanting tacos in particular.

Coming from a true hispanic, I did not expect this taco spot to be as delicious as authentic Mexican tacos but I was surprised. I would say they are better than many mexican taco trucks in California and I am not exaggerating!! Pricey for sure but the entire state of Hawaii is expensive. Not sure why people complain if they fly out to Hawaii knowing it's expensive. All in all, I will go back to this place for my next trip

We have lived on Kauai for 3 years and I am pretty sure I have tried fish tacos at every restaurant on the island. These are hands down the best. I eat here weekly. The lady who runs this little food truck is named Fawn and she is literally the sweetest. She greets her guests with the sweetest voice and "our fresh fish today is ahi" every time. Literally, I've never been here when the fresh fish WASN'T ahi, but no complaints from me because the ahi is so fresh and perfectly prepared. Don't even bother to get fish tacos anywhere else--they won't compare. And her beans, rice and guacamole that come with it are pretty darn good, too! read more

These are the best fish tacos on Kauai. Always quality fresh local fish. Many other meats available, but the fish are the real killers.The very first taco truck on Kauai opening in Kapaa' in 2012, Faun and Paulino Hernandez continue to be #1. Their fresh fish tacos are still the "go to " menu item. Lengua , pastor and shrimp are popular as well. The pot beans are old style and full of flavor. Faun's friendly smile and bubbling personality is full of Aloha and will make you feel welcome and enjoy whatever your craving is. read more

Yuuuuuum! We visited al pastor after a recommendation from another food truck vendor on the island and they did not disappoint!! We've tried several Mexican restaurants while on Kauai and these guys were by far our favorite. The portion sizes are large, and the price per plate was very reasonable. Try the steak and shrimp tacos! read more

Get the Al pastor taco a la cart if you can- forget rice and beans - this is too good, save room for another taco instead! This is the most memorable meal we had on the island. We tried everything from a $300 meal to this $8.00 meal and it was worth every penny. If you like spicy- ask for a side if their habanero hot sauce. read more

Coming from San Francisco, the last thing you think we'd want are tacos, but on the recommendation of a couple friends, we tried Al Pastor. BEST FRESH FISH TACO I'VE EVER HAD. The al pastor taco was also terrific, but I can't get over how good that fish taco is. In addition, the customer service is first rate. When I mentioned that I had to avoid a few ingredients for medical reasons, they went out of their way to prepare it with a new sauce that was amazing. And they do this with a huge smile. We went back the very next day for more, during which time I learned that Al Pastor is run by a young couple (Faun and Paulino) who met in the restaurant industry over two years ago. Paulino worked in the back of the house as a cook, Faun in the front (which explains the crazy good service.) We will probably eat there every day before we leave. You should too. read more

Situated right off the beach this gem is a must stop for lunch. Grab the steak tacos. You won't be disappointed. AHI fish also very good. Walk 300 feet to the ocean and enjoy your meal under the shady tree and enjoy the ocean view for under $20! read more

I was amazed when I found this food truck as it was completely unexpected to find good mexican in Kauai. The pastor tacos were amazing in flavor and the lengua tacos were good but a little bit too tender like if they were overcooked. The tacos themselves are delicious but they already come with the salsa and I didn't see any salsa available in case you wanted to make them spicier or in case you want to add your favorite one..., so you have to keep them as they are served. Another disadvantage is their location, as unfortunately as a food truck you don't have a good place to eat without making a mess and in this case you have many chickens and the strong wind trying to blow your lunch away. At the end, I would recommend them if you are looking for good authentic tacos. read more

Based on the positive reviews I was so excited to try this place but now think there are way better options nearby. We had the fish tacos and Al Pastor tacos (essentially grilled pork). Both were way overcooked and lacked in flavor. Not sure if they just had an off day, but I won't go back. read more

This food truck is in a little parking lot on the ocean-side BEFORE Otsuka's if you're headed north. We love that the quality of their food is so consistent and delicious! Our favorites are the burrito al pastor, steak tacos & al pastor tacos. Be warned though, the servings are on the larger side so bring your appetite with you! You can take your food to go & enjoy a little picnic at Kealia Beach (little further north), or you can eat at one of the picnic tables there if there's room..... read more

Not sure if Al Pastor was the idea behind Wahoo's Fish Taco, but they totally reminded me of them. Soo good. I had the garlic fish tacos and it comes with rice and beans. The rest of the family had the fish tacos (catch of the day). All sooo good after a day of wave crashing. read more

This place is a small food truck with a few picnic tables out front but don't be fooled by that, the food was delicious. I tired 2 different tacos and both were very good. The ahi taco came with a very nicely cooked piece of fish and they didn't skimp on the portion size either. Great chipotle cream sauce on this one. The other taco was the al pastor with a yummy avacado sauce. Top it off with a side of rice and beans and it was a filling and wonderful meal. read more

This little taco truck in Kapa'a is the BEST for real!! All of the other Mexican places in Kaua'i advertise as "the best" but this place doesn't say that and they really are THE BEST!! Omg, I had to eat here everyday that we were on the Eastside! The tacos al pastor are so tender yet has crispy bits with fresh pico de gallo and they sell it ala carte if you don't want the whole plate with rice and beans. They have yummy fresh (not frozen) fish for their tacos! I also had the chicken tacos for variety and also very tasty and tender! My husband loves the lengua tacos they serve too! There are also shrimp and steak dishes on the menu but I didn't get to teri those. Next time, for sure! I think the staff is so friendly and they always are welcoming and smiling. I saw the counter lady greeting everyone so nicely. I felt like more than just a customer and that's always a plus in my books! Oh and their prices are way more affordable than all the other Mexican food places we looked at. Al Pastor tacos gets an A+ across the board from me! read more

We spent a week on Kauai and came here 3 times because the tacos are so fresh and delicious. Tried another place up in Hanalei and we were so disappointed. We tried fish, shrimp and steak tacos all were great. The beans are homemade and great flavor too. Great fresh salsa too! A must do if you love tacos!!! read more

This is our second trip to Kaua'i and we stopped here both times on our way to Princeville. Simple and amazing tacos. We've been looking forward to stopping here and so glad to see they are right where we saw them last. My husband got the Ahi tacos and I got steak. Both amazing and filling! Had heard good things about this spot, and we were super glad that we made a point to wait for it to open before catching a 1:30pm flight home. We're big fans of taco trucks in general, with great Mexican being a particular favorite, and I'm happy to report that if this place was closer to home and not on Kauai, I'd probably be there a few times a week. We ordered the Al Pastor tacos (2), a side of guacamole, and a few sodas. While the tortillas weren't the "small" ones you typically get at an authentic Mexican place, they were doubled up (yay for no sogginess!) and well put-together. To say that they were filling would be an understatement, and the avocado salsa was out of my usual comfort zone and exactly what the doctor ordered. I'd easily put this place up against LA-area and other major city's taco spots. Next time, fish! Takes Square, no cash-havers! read more

I am Mexican and this place is good as in mediocre... The truth is most people will love this place petty authentic but not by far the best Mexican food... I also turn vegetarian a few years ago and my expectations have risen.. I had there vegi burrito and a quesadilla *the burrito was a 2 star but the quesadilla was amazing.....there food smells good but they should work in there vegan choices.. read more

Ri-god-damn-dic-u-lous.... All we wanted was a fish taco. We stopped at this roadside truck. My husband ordered 2 fish tacos and we sat in our car to wait, since it was raining. The lady who took our order actually came out to our car to deliver it! So nice. The tacos were to DIE FOR. Came with hot beans and rice. Best $11 we spent after being in Hawaii for over a week. Delicious delicious delicious. We had the steak taco plate. Comes with two good size tacos filled generously with delicious beans & rice. Steak is tasty & we loved it. I had the 2 fish taco plate made from ahi tuna. Delicious ! Served with a scoop of guacamole. Both plates are heaping that we actually made four tacos from the two tacos we got each. Al Pastor tacos was a fun little food stand on the side of the highway. We stopped for lunch and had fish tacos, carnitas tacos, and steak tacos. My preference was the fish tacos. All were large portions of meat. There are picnic tables, chickens, and three other food trucks to choose from. They serve waters, juices, and teas (no beer or alcohol). The meal for two took approximately 10 minutes to prepare. read more

Had the fish tacos; fresh ahi cooked perfectly and generous portion but other than that very underwhelming. Needed some spice to it for sure. As I left, another couple were eating the fish taco plate and had salsa on the side. So my a la carte taco isn't served with salsa. read more

Best Fish Tacos on kauai Fresh local caught fish. Spicy chipotle sauce, fish cooked to your liking, and they recommend medium rare for ahi tacos which is the only way to order. Hefty portions of fresh fish with two corn tortillas which help to hold the delightful bounty. Call ahead, as there is always a line. Picnic tables or quick walk to beach park! Or pick up and go if you are driving through kapaa! read more

The girl taking orders was very charismatic and effective, she could clearly explain the menu and move the line quickly. The food was delicious and the fish was definitely fresh. Every time someone ordered, she would recommend the best way to have the meat cooked, which was super helpful. The only thing was that we didn't notice any salsa on the tacos, but it was okay because the chipotle sauce the put on the fish tacos was fantastic anyways. All in all a great culinary experience! read more

So mixed review here. Gave a 3 star because the fish taco saved the day. I had a al pastor and fish. The fish was amazing. Very fresh! The pork was dry and almost burnt. They did load up the tacos with meat which is nice. The area where the food truck is was very dirty. Chickens are annoying and harass you while you eat. read more

On my second to last full day I have found my favorite place on the island to eat. Under $10 and had an al pastor taco and a steak taco. Tasted great and friendly service. You can see by all my Kauai check-ins that I've sampled many places fancy and simple. This is the best overall especially when it comes to value for your dollars. read more

OMG!!! Amazing tacos. We had ahi tacos and it was the best fish taco I have ever had. The chipotle sauce is just right not too much not too heavy. The fish was a nice portion and the beans and rice on the side were also very tasty. I will dream about these tacos until I can get back to the island to enjoy them again. read more

Simple and satisfying Tasty ahi tacos. A fresh meaty chunk of ahi. Simply grilled, perfectly moist. Shredded cabbage, carrots, tomatoes in a creamy house made thousand island dressing. Only gripe--tortillas not grilled. This is a very different style than East Oakland. Service was good. The young lady had a jovial smile. Absolutely amazing tacos! We're from Santa Cruz, ca that has no shortage of great Mexican food and we were beyond impressed. We had the carne asada and fish tacos (which were Ahi today) each had a more than generous helping of meat. Mia was working the front of the truck and was very helpful and super friendly. History

Established in 2012.

My other half, chef Garcia had a vision to make Al Pastor, we are the first food establishment to make Al pastor on the whole island of Kauai. We cook the Al Pastor on the gyro machine, just like how they do in Mexico. We also prepare Lengua, which is Beef Tongue Tacos. Which they are super delicious. We are the only food establishment on Kauai that serves it daily. We put all our Love and Aloha into our food, we hope you can enjoy Kauai and some delicious Tacos!

When you step up to the window at Al Pastor Tacos, you receive service with a smile, Faun is one of the owners, and she greets everyone, whether your a regular or a visitor, she treats everyone with such a loving way. Faun makes sure you order the best and most popular plates. Then she runs your food out to your table. Even though she's super busy, she always has time for a smile. She has such an appreciated attitude. That's a one of kind service at a Food Truck, usually they yell your name out to pick up your food but not here, she's just running around all day. My husband and I spent a week on Kauai for our honeymoon, we drove by Al Pastor several times but didn't stop because we live in the LA area and there are tacos everywhere here. But one day we decided to stop for lunch before we did shopping in the area. While we were waiting for our food we asked another couple who was eating if the food was good. They said it was their 3rd visit in as many days. We thought that was strange, because Kapa'a has so many fun places to eat. But then our food came and we understood why. It was amazing. The al pastor tacos were our favorite. We even went back the next day for more. If you have trouble adjusting to Kauai time and don't want to sit and enjoy your surroundings while they make your lunch, then call ahead and they will have it waiting for you. Y'all, I live in Austin, where we have amazing tacos, so I'm always hesitant to venture out for tacos when I'm on vacation. I'm a recent convert to al pastor, thanks to the al pastor burrito at Verde (my favorite restaurant on Kauai!). Given my new found interest in al pastor, and all of the great Yelp reviews for this truck, I decided to give it a try. Oh man, the al pastor tacos were delicious. The rice was really good and the beans were good. I was impressed! The food was on par with our excellent Austin restaurants. The girl who took my order was very sweet and she brought my food out to me in only a few minutes. I'll definitely be back! Once again, thanks to Yelp for helping me find this place! read more

Best chicken tacos on the island in my opinion. Never had anything bad there but I find myself craving the chicken tacos. I don't know how they get it that juicy, but I love it. I get mine with the spicy green sauce and it's icing on the cake. The sauce is really spicy but adds awesome flavor to the mix. I don't care for the milder red sauce but I hear a lot of people like it. To each their own... :) Thumbs up on this little truck and double thumbs up on the chicken tacos! read more

amazing tacos the habanero salsa is amazing super hot. the carne was soooo fresh and so were the tortillas. toppings were amazing. rice was exceptional... the beans were whole noy refried as an option which was ok... i mashed them myself with a fork which i have no problem with but they were not salty at all. definitely lacked salt on the beans.... which you can add yourself. overall amazing spot! read more
