This is my go-to place for fresh feta, pita, kabob, vegetables, and the best sweets and dried nuts! Today we drove just to get the grape leaves to make our own dolmas! He helped us learn. Best quality, best service. Worth any drive !

This morning, I bought some cheese. About 15 minutes later, I realized I got the wrong kind and went back to exchange it. I think it was the accountant -- bald, not the one with glasses. He said the cheese had been opened. I told him I hadn't opened it and that I had just bought it 10 minutes ago. He took it back with an irritated attitude, and I exchanged it for a different cheese. When I got home, the new cheese was spoiled -- it tasted bitter and had a disgusting smell. I returned it again. I will never go back there, not even for water. I don't recommend this place to anyone.

Oh my gosh what a hidden treasure! A fantastic Middle Eastern market with packaged goods, a deli with fresh prepared food, a meat and poultry counter, an actual kebab (fresh) as part of their deli, an olive bar where you help yourself according to type of olive and weight ... we got their spinach/feta pie, which never can I resist. In their refrigerated sections, they have more than Middle Eastern foods--Undian naans :-) A ton of produce and more varieties of dried dates I could count on! The service fast and efficient, the costs super reasonable, free parking out front. What is not to love? What a find! Love!

This middle eastern store is one of the oldest in the area. I had no clue it existed until I saw kanafa ( a desert flaky cheesy sweet yummmm). I saw the advert on Facebook and I was added to my bucket list of must go to when in San Mateo. I love little gem like this that offer so much in one place. From grocery, Togo food and a mini dine In area. Unique decoration and dishes catering to middle eastern. Their spice mixes and pickle galore. And I really like their varieties of Baklava and Halwa but let's not forget the freshly made kanafa. Customer service was amazing, as it being my first time and not so familiar to the menu names he guided me and directed me to best option. As I told him I wanted something a little more spicy as middle eastern food is full of flavor but not spicy. He made the adjustment perfectly. While I waited for my food to be prepared I walked around and of course picked up a few unique Middle Eastern items. There was a hidden corner that had household items which are reasonably priced. I was happy to find a variety of marshmallows which my kids love and being we can only have a special Halal type. In the back they had a refrigerator of drinks that are carbonated with unique flavor such as pomegranate peach strawberry. Of course I grabbed one to have with my meal. It was not a busy night as it was a weekday but I'm pretty sure on a weekend it must get busy. I did look over the fresh meat that they had to offer prices were just as average but the quality of the meat look good. A great place to grab a meal and a few groceries while you wait.

All other supermarkets, except for maybe Fresco in South Bay and Berkeley Bowl in East Bay, have a niche, and you're going to be inconvenienced if what you want to make is outside of that focus. This large market had a dedicated aisle to Latino products, one for Japanese, Central/Eastern European, Southeast Asian - mostly for Filipino and Indonesian products, an aisle EACH! Now, as you may know, Hashi has taken over the market following the retirement of the previous boss under Marina. Apparently the kids don't want to take over haiyaaaa. Not much has changed but necessary renovations are planned, though unfortunately, the European section was down to some canned drinks and Slavic sauerkraut during my recent visit. Other reviews have mentioned how cold it gets inside. During my visit, it was all right, about as same temperature as outside. They don't have a heating system, I guess. Now I understand that Hashi has a focus on Japanese products, but given the physical size and history of this market location, I do wish that its Japanese branding doesn't come at the expense of everything else, especially since there are major competition nearby and we don't need a rat race to the bottom.

Not too familiar with the area, we were unaware of the ownership change. Crabs at $7.99/lb. seem like a reasonable price, vegetables looked fresh. Meats and seafood are priced a little lower than other Asian markets. I was excited to find some sesame candy which reminded me of childhood snack, however there is no expiration date on the good looking box ($4.99). The food court area is being remodeled, we walked around it carefully. The crabs we steamed last night for dinner were pretty good. Today I tried the sesame candy and was very disappointed. As soon as I opened the nicely wrapped candy, the aroma of rancid sesame oil hit me and it tasted bitter.....basically the candy is inedible. I understand it may not be the fault of the market because this item was imported. The lack of expiration date should have given me a warning, my fault. Needless to say we will not be rushing back to shop here anytime soon, hopefully they do a better job on quality control going forward.

Their sashimi selection is incredibly fresh, beautifully cut, and perfectly packaged to-go. I'm a huge fan of their tuna--especially the otoro, chutoro, and akami--but you honestly can't go wrong with their salmon, uni, or any of their other fresh fish selections. Their hot food section is just as impressive and made fresh daily. Whether it's chicken teriyaki, beef teriyaki, salmon teriyaki, sushi bowls, nigiri, chicken karaage, or grilled salmon, everything hits the spot and tastes homemade. What really makes this place special is the family behind it. You'll almost always see Ken, Shu, Misako, or their mother Ryuko, and they make the whole experience feel welcoming and authentic. And if you're into whiskey or just a casual drinker, keep an eye out for their selection--they occasionally carry rare bottles like Yamazaki and Hakushu, which are getting harder to find these days. Overall, Suruki is a gem in San Mateo. Quality, freshness, and great people--what more can you ask for?

I was impressed: the location is clean, organized, has a great selection, and has fun Turkish music playing over the speakers. I was able to find kagit helvah, which is a wafer-like treat; I've been trying to find some for years, so I was pleased! They have a nice deli and refrigerated section, with tempting meats, cheeses, and pickles. I was able to find a variety of tahini. They also have a great selection of lokum (Turkish Delight), of which I purchased several flavors. Best of all, I sat down for a delicious serving of Turkish coffee. I had mine "az sekerli" (a little sugar), which was luxurious and a treat. I look forward to returning for baklava and simit. BTW. My visit was met with a friendly welcome, which was appreciated.

I am so happy I discovered Gourmet Corner. Even in the culturally diverse Bay Area, it can be…read moresurprisingly difficult to find authentic French ingredients without driving long distances. Gourmet Corner makes it easy to enjoy real French food at home. They offer an impressive selection of French products, including sausages, charcuterie, salami, cheeses, wines, chocolates, cookies, and many other specialty items. The prices are very reasonable, and the ordering process is simple. After ordering online, I chose to pick up my order at their Campbell location. The process was simple and hassle-free. I recently purchased Raclette cheese, and it was absolutely delicious. In my opinion, it is the best Raclette I have found in the Bay Area. Today I picked up Boudin Noir along with some French sweets, and I am looking forward to trying them. What really stood out to me was the excellent customer service. The staff is incredibly friendly, responsive, and flexible. They went out of their way to help, making the entire experience smooth and enjoyable. For first-time visitors picking up an order at the Campbell location, the pickup location can be a little tricky to find. Look for the large building with the American Barbell gym at the entrance. Facing the building, there is a small entrance on the far right side with designated pickup parking spaces. Once you arrive, call to let them know you're there, and they will bring your order out to your car. One helpful tip: wine shipments arrive on Tuesdays and Fridays, while many of the other food items are typically kept in stock. After your order is confirmed, pickup is often available without having to wait specifically for those delivery days. I also learned that Gourmet Corner regularly participates in local farmers' markets throughout the Bay Area. It's always nice to support a small business that brings authentic French products directly to the community and helps people discover the flavors of France close to home. If you love French food, French culture, or simply want to recreate an authentic French meal at home, I highly recommend Gourmet Corner. Shopping here feels like stepping into a French gourmet market without leaving California. I'll definitely be ordering again very soon!
