I've used Alameda Autobody twice to repair damage to my cars due to accidents and they have come through for me on both occasions. Their work is excellent - the restored areas of my cars look like new. I worked with Marcus who was very responsive to my questions and got me scheduled quickly. Have had mixed experience with Alameda Auto Body. Started out great with first project - to fix a sagging, damaged bumper. Service was very attentive and it was finished a little earlier than expected. The service person even stayed past closing to wait for to pick it up. The trouble started a few weeks later though. The bumper started to sag again and I took it back. They reassessed it quickly and found that there was a flaw in the bumper design that would cause it to sag over time. The only solution was to order a new bumper as the damage, wear and tear to the original bumper was too much. To their credit, and to honor their lifetime warranty, they offered to waive the installation fee if I were to order a new bumper. They even got me a new bumper for a Toyota employee pricing. So the rates and the warranty were great, but the problem was more their responsiveness to correspondence. It took repeated voicemails and emails left with them over almost a month's time to get final pricing, scheduling, or even a simple call back. It required some chasing down on the customer's part, which is never good. The service person was apologetic and nice, citing a busy workload. When we finally settled on a service date, I brought it in and was promised updates and an ETA of Thursday EOD, Friday early morning at the latest. Thursday came and I had to chase the service person again. Was promised a call back in an hour. Three hours later, I had to call them to follow up. A different service person answered and let me know that they have the part, but had not started on it. S/he said it would be ready on Friday, but could not promise the exact time, which is counter to the "early Friday at the latest" promise. All the above would have been fine had it just been for basic courtesy and proactive communication to keep the customer updated so that I could adjust my schedule accordingly. I liked their initial service and rates so much that I lined up two more installations with them. Hoping that those go better, otherwise, I might have to find another regular shop. To summarize, great rates, good attitude, trustworthy in terms of the quote estimates, but reliability, timeliness and responsiveness of service seems to vary depending on workload. Would recommend them, but would urge that they be kept to their timelines and promise to respond. read more

When I took my car in just to get an idea of what costs might be, he gave me some advise that ended up saving me a lot of money. Needless to say, after filing a claim with my insurance, I took my car to AAB and Brandon provided me a very fair estimate and best of all, he didn't go over the budget upon completion. Early last year I replaced my passenger headlight. I was now left with my original (driver's side) headlight which had a hazy lens. I tried various over the counter headlight cleaners, and none were able to get it close to new. I showed Hector at AAB on a Saturday, he said to bring it back during the week so ho could have one of their guys take a look. I brought it in during my lunch, and 20 minutes later I was very pleased to see a new looking headlight. Each person I spoke to was very nice and professional. I brought my car in for the front door handle damaged by vandalsim including the keyhole and surrounding handle. Brandon wrote an estimate for 258.00. Day later Brandon called to say he could not find the door handle but that he could repair the lock mechanism without the handle. I Oks the job. Brandon took the key to call a locksmith to key the new lock cylinder. Brandon said the locksmith was done and I could bring the car into have the work done. I came in the next day at 4:30pm and Brandon said the mechanics wouldnt have time to do the job although he told me they close at 6pm the mechanics leave at 5pm. I brought it the next day and it was done in 45mintutes price $180.00. The cylinder was $84.00. The original handle for the first estimate was 48.00 for the handle. I found several afterwards on ebay for $20.00 and the problem is the way the cylinder is in water will now enter the car door in the area damage to the handle caused by the vandalism. I believe Brandon should have offered me the option to use used handle parts. Now I will have to pay twice as much to redo the job correctly. I'm sure the shop is stretching to make a profit on the smaller jobs. Now it's my problem. read more

I went to this shop after getting my Nissan Frontier rear-ended. Actually my previous choice on Park St. did not have parking, so I elected to go to this shop instead. When I went in I was promptly greeted by Doug who began the paperwork process, had it estimated and I was out of there in less than an hour. He said he would call me when the parts came in, and they were in the next day. I dropped the truck off on a Friday, he said it would be done the following Wednesday, to which I replied "Yeah, right!" Well, it was done on Wednesday as promised and they did a PERFECT job. In fact they washed my filthy truck AND cleaned the inside as well. The other nice feature is that they are very close to the Alameda Enterprise rental location, so when Doug called for a pick up for me, they were there in ten minutes. I can't speak to the quality of their work but first impressions were not good. I pull my car into the estimate bay for a damaged bumper and tailgate. Nobody comes out so I go into the office where the guy behind the counter is looking at his phone. I say I need an estimate and he asks me if that's my car in the estimate bay. There's a window from the office to the estimate bay and a big sign over the estimate bay that says "Estimates," so it's no mystery why my car is there. Um yeah that's my car in the estimate bay. Then he takes pictures of the damage and starts working on the estimate. Another guy who seems to be the boss walks in, looks at the pics, and tells me how SERIOUS! the damage is, like my car has been in a major crash. I'm already feeling sad about the car and that's not putting me at ease. Not impressed, I take my car to another shop with better customer service and that just shoots me straight on the car (the SERIOUS! damage is about $2,500 at the other shop). Maybe this business does great work, I never went far enough with them to find out, so it would be unfair to give them one star, but that was a two-star experience in their office. read more

Came here to get my headlight bulbs changed for Acura TSX 2007. Funny story, how long does it take to change light bulbs? It took 1 hour. I told them about the issue with my lights being to low and they told me to get new ones and they'd help me change it. I get the lights and there's this Asian mechanic, before changing the lights he tells me to turn it on so he can see how bright the current lights are before changing them. After having the lights on for 2 minutes he puts on gloves to take them out and tells me to help him hold it. Next thing you know my hands get burned and we both start laughing. I was like MothaF this is hot, and he goes "oh yeah I forgot its hot and I was pissed off" what a rookie. Could of sued them, but it wasn't that serious. Russ, the owner, was phenomenal throughout the entire process. I had been rear ended and was referred through my insurance company to this location. Russ went over everything in detail that he would be repairing on the car. He called daily, sometimes twice daily, with status updates or to let me know if things had changed. I was a victim of a hit and run recently, and since I got a brand new car I needed it fixed ASAP! I filed a claim with Allstate insurance and they recommended me to Alameda Auto Body. The day after I went to get an estimate and Duy, the owner I believe greeted me and explained to me how the process would go to get my car fixed up. He made sure to let me know every detail and didn't try to upscale the fix because I was going through Insurance to get it fixed. We schedule to get it brought in on a Monday. The day I brought it in one of the technicians Hector, told me how long it would take and what he would to get it fixed. I told him that I made a reservation with Enterprise to get a rental and he called them up and got someone to pick me up. The minute I left my car with Alameda Auto Body, I got a text from them saying that they have started on getting my car fixed, which I was really happy about. They really go out of their way to give me a peace of mind and makes sure the customer is aware of everything that goes on. Hector called me about 3 hours later and told me that I would have my car by Friday. Then, on Wednesday I got a call from Hector saying that my car was ready for pick up. They finished 2 days early. When I went to pick up my car Duy told me that they prioritize Allstate customers which was why my car was fixed so quick. I was shocked with what a good job they did! My car is perfect once again. They even vacuumed and washed my car without me asking! They have a happy and returning customer from me! I recommend all Allstate customers work with them on your repairs. They did an amazing job.
