Duct runs in the tight attic space are installed with the highest level of care and craftsmanship. They were extremely diligent about managing dust and mess; the only sign that they had been in the house were the new vents in the ceiling. Living on a 1967 trawler, we deal with many specialized contractors. In this case, we needed more than your average residential refrigerator repair person. We have a classic "reefer" in our galley that's driven by a large compressor in our engine room that had stopped running. Our marine engineer had a guess that the problem might be low pressure coolant, but this isn't his area of expertise, so he hoped we'd find a reliable HVAC person, as he's found it hard to find someone to work on these types of systems for the yachts he manages. Tom was quick to respond, was clear that he only works on commercial style applications, and was available for an appointment early in the week. He called when he was en route, so we had time to be ready. Tom got right to work assessing the situation, explained his findings, listened when we gave him additional info, and jumped right in to the fix. He popped out the part that needed to be replaced, headed to his distributor, and came back with an exact match, installing it right away. He addressed any questions we had, made quick work of the repair and coolant recharge, itemized the expenses and was on his way. Tom happened to carry the old school R12 coolant our vintage system required, so he was able to complete the entire repair/recharge in a single afternoon. We've had a super cold reefer since his visit, and the compressor isn't working nearly as hard to keep up.
