This Alamo lies within the Charlotte CLT Airport - no shuttle needed. RENITA was so helpful at Alamo. We booked through a 3rd party through my credit card portal. They provided a confirmation code that did not coincide and was not findable by their system. Renita was persistent and made it happen by trying different search methods. HOWEVER, beside the service Renita provided, it was not the best experience. I had thought that because it was directly at the airport that the experience would be quicker than renting from a spot outside of the airport. Boy I was wrong. There were many counters at this rental car area and the only one with a long line was Alamo. I thought, "just my luck". They seemed severely understaffed and overworked. I felt for the staff. If you have extra time you want to kill - by all means rent through Alamo@ Charlotte Airport. If you are trying to leave the airport ASAP, then I do not recommend. I've now spoken with NINE different representatives, including multiple "escalation managers," and not a single one has actually fixed the issue or followed through on their promises. On 3 separate occasions, I've been told someone would call me back within 24 hours. Not once has that happened. Not one call. Every time I reach out, I'm forced to start the story over from scratch, and every person I speak to assures me they'll "take ownership." None ever do. The lack of accountability and customer care is absolutely unacceptable for a company of Alamo's size. What should have been a quick and easy resolution has turned into a complete customer service nightmare. After this experience, they've permanently lost my business. Great rates for on airport pick up . (no dreaded shuttle) Checked in on line before arrival -straight to the airpot garage - can choose any vehicle in the size range that are there ready to go. Seven vehicles - all very clean and keys in the vehicles. Just scanned a bar code at the exit gate. Return was also a breeze. Pull up , got out and a young man quickly checked the car and e-mailed our receipt within 60 seconds. Have to mention that the garage and gate staff are young and were friendly, polite and competent. My daughter rented a 2024 Nissan Sentra that had an undetected issue. When she stopped suddenly to avoid an accident, the plastic plate underneath the car fell down, which wouldn't have happened unless it either wasn't attached properly, or had been tampered with prior to my daughter being given it. Nevertheless they blamed her, and wouldn't replace it until we gave them our insurance information, and without any written estimate being provided they charged the full deductible to her credit card. When I called them and asked them if they had jacked up the car to make sure that the underplate was secured properly before giving her the vehicle, they couldn't answer me, and told me that I'd have to call their claims department, and that they wouldn't refund the deductible to her credit card! read more

They treated my Son who rented a Premium SUV (Audi) from them in Charlotte to drive to an event he had in Atlanta GA for it to not start on day 2 for No Reason. It had to be Towed! As a replacement car they give him an OLD "Have seen better days" Mitsubishi Mirage that he "Had" to drive for two days while they (customer service & Management) continue to lie to him that they were going to see what they can to assist him. Clearly #1 Alamo does not maintain good maintenance on their vehicles and #2 they do not honor theit contracts and #3 They don't provide GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE!! They gave him a sorry excuse that they had to provide the cars for people who are leaving the airport and because he picked up the car in Charlotte he should be satisfied that they got him in that mirage! It shouldn't matter if the car was picked up in another city/state how about Alamo should be Alamo where ever you go and you do your DUE DILIGENCE to provide for your customer who paid for a service and a Premium vehicle. On an on top of that he received conflicting information from customer service who told him that if they have no cars available "ALAMO" should reach out to neighboring car rental agency's at the airport or one of their local branches to provide a comparable var for him. They did absolutely nothing to assist my son in finding him a comparable vehicle to the one he rented. As a result Inventory that he purchased that, that premium SUV could accommodate for had to be thrown away. And money gone because that little Mitsubishi Mirage couldn't accommodate. I received an email late that afternoon that the car had been damaged and that I said it was damaged in a car wash. The car was not damaged, and there was zero conversation about a car wash. I did not go through any car wash at all. The branch will not return any phone calls, and I am now having to go through a huge dispute process that is a waste of my time and energy. read more

I had a great experience renting with Alamo. The pickup counter was a bit busy when I arrived, but an agent at a non-Alamo window was able to help me and I was on my way in less than 10 minutes. It seemed like agents at other rental companies were able to help one another check customers in (except for budget and maybe hertz, which had long lines.) August 9 I Land in CLT, go to counter, told i'm on "do not rent to" list. Inquire as to why. Dec 2016 i have a 100+/- balance due. Ask how this can be, I gave you a credit card when I rented the vehicle. They don't know, need to contact customer service. Call customer service, they can't help, need to call (215)949-9600 PHL .... I call the number 10 times, "user busy". Alamo/Enterprise/National ....... All one big homogenous failure when it comes to customer service. I'm chasing you to find out why i have an outstanding balance? 6.5 years ago? I tried, you want feedback? Address this more proactively, customers have long memories. So I get a message to direct message them. I do just that. "We'll be right back to you". NOTHING. Haven't heard from them at all since. What I learned .... They have little interest in solving problems, they just want to portray that they'll work to solve problems. Unfortunately, all of the other rental agencies were out of cars unless there was a previous reservation. Apparently there had been a lot of cancellations of flights this week, and the cars available had been depleted by one way rentals. I think the most important take away here is that this isn't an "I feel they were rude" or "they could have been more helpful" situation. This is a complete failure of their customer service group, on the ground in Charlotte, at the corporate level via phone call, at Philadelphia with not answering the phone, and with their Facebook Direct Message assistance. First of all I would NEVER rent from anywhere else. I travel all the time! I can not express how much I LOVE them! So I was here for the Weekend at CIAA. As soon as my flight landed I reserved a compact car online while I was waiting to get off the plane. I followed the signs to the rental place. I walked pass Dollar rental car where there was over 25 people in line. I was so grateful that Alamo had no line and things were looking good! I got up to the counter and signed and initialed two things. The rep was so Nice. He told me where to go to pick up my car. The 2nd employee I met that showed me my car was nice and just as amazing as well. So I paid $32 for a Jeep. I think that was all they had left. I paid for a compact car but I got a chance to pick on two jeeps and two full size cars. I was winning! I basically rented a car in less than five minutes. They did not waste any of my time and the Customer service was excellent! Also driving the car and taking it back was also the easiest process. 3rd employee with I encountered was also amazing. The price was great. I didn't get robbed with extra and unnecessary fees. No heavy deposits like I'm a criminal or like I'm going to steal their car. I had an okay experience with this company. The representative at their airport kiosk was nice. I was on the phone talking about the rental situation and he didn't seem to mind. They were about $20/day cheaper than Enterprise. I think most rental car companies want a return flight booked if you use a debit card. I wanted to use a debit card, so I booked a return flight and used one. That was their policy and Enterprise's policy and reportedly all or most of the other companies' policy too. The car was nice and clean inside and it even had a hint of new car smell. I was able to connect my iPod to the Bluetooth and wirelessly play it through the car's speakers. It was fun to drive and the first time except for the previous day that I had driven in over 9 years. I rented the car for two days and called a couple of days to extend my rental. However, when I called on Saturday morning they said it would be about four times what I was paying! I decided to return the car, but I had to hurry. It was not easy to get in touch with them and it always involved a long wait. Also, I was unable to get in touch with people at this location. I barely got the car there in time. They professionally checked in the car and made sure I didn't get a late fee, so that was nice. I had used about 28 of the 29 minutes of grace as I put it in park. I am not sure if I would use them again unless I had to. I didn't appreciate having to race back to the airport car rental return spot because they suddenly price gauged me. It would have been good to know about the price increase from the beginning, so I could have planned accordingly. read more

Despite the fact that they are doing construction at the front of the airport, it was easy enough to get to the car rental counter when I arrived one Friday evening to get my rental car I had reserved online just a few days before. The process was real quick. I was even able to upgrade the size of my car at the counter. I got a Ford Fusion with a sunroof, power everything. When you get there (or make the reservation online), you pick the type of vehicle you want at the counter, then go out to the parking garage, and pick your specific vehicle from the class of vehicles you chose. You have to get your paperwork and keys scanned to exit the parking structure. Service is quick and well organized. To return the vehicle, you go into the rental car return portion of the parking garage, hand over the keys, and retrieve your personal items. You are done. The process is quick, easy and fairly painless. I am impressed from beginning to end. This was a pleasant surprise of a painless experience and made my weekend so much better for as much stress as I had going on. AND the icing was the vehicle was perfect for my mom to get in and out of as her knees are shot. read more

Because both my check-in and checkout were seamless, I can describe myself as a happy customer. My three-star rating factors in a few negatives/surprises: After arriving near the Alamo counter after my flight, I tried to check in via the kiosk. Unfortunately, I was unable to get the Alamo console to recognize my driver's license, either via the scan method or using the license's magnetic stripe. I was lucky in that there was no line in front of me, so that I could finalize my rental with a human agent. My reservation had been made through Costco Travel; surprisingly, the agent asked to see my Costco card before I could rent a car. I didn't have the card with me, but fortunately I had loaded my membership information onto the Costco app, which was on my phone. I knew vaguely that rental car companies were entitled to ask for my Costco info, but this was the first time that anyone had asked. Be prepared! My vehicle was a Nissan Sentra with about 25000 miles on it. I was surprised to have been given a Nissan without keyless entry or a pushbutton ignition. This was definitely an old-style car. And it didn't have CarPlay -- I don't think that Nissan ever signed up for it -- so that I needed to keep glancing at my phone screen while navigating. read more

I only interacted with 3 people during my rental (The agent in the garage who greeted me, the agent at the booth confirming my rental and the return agent) but received excellent customer service. I didn't realize how different the rental car process is compared to when I traveled with my grandparents back in the day (yes I'm pretty young and this was my first rental car from a rental car company) I was able to do the rental check-in process entirely online where I put in my credit card information and driver's license information. I selected the skip the counter option and printed out my ticket. Make sure you have your ticket either on your phone or printed out cause they need that when you go to leave the garage. After arriving in Charlotte and starting my long trek from the gate to the baggage claim, I followed the signs to the rental car center. Fortunately, you don't have to take a shuttle bus to the lot anymore, you just walk across the street to the rental car center. I followed the signs bypassing the counter to level 2 where Alamo/National is. After a long day of traveling (Supershuttle picked me up at 3am for a 6am flight and I was on the go all day long) the last thing you want to do is be held up at the rental car while your patience is thinned out. Thankfully it wasn't the case here. When I got in the garage, I was greeted by the agent asking to see my ticket where she directed me to the compact car row. Now back in the day they would assign you a car and hand you the keys. Now you can just select any car within the row of the car class you paid for and you just get in the car as the keys are already in there. Luckily for me, there weren't many compact cars left so I was able to score a Nissan Sentra for the $98 price I paid for a Compact car. I was a bit confused after choosing my car as there were signs that said Alamo exit that led to nowhere. You have to go through the National check out booths (both owned by the same company so no big issue there) It took about a minute for the agent at the booth to confirm everything and told me my card was only getting charged for the rental and to have a great day. The return process was simple. I was an hour late (got held up at a Walmart out of all places) but wasn't charged and while my car wasn't completely full ( I filled it up but used one gallon of gas to get to the airport) they didn't charge me any extra. They greeted me with a smile and I was all checked out in less than 3 minutes. Excellent, affordable service with a great newer model low mileage vehicle (my car was under 20,000 miles) read more

Got tracking number from Fedex, after paying $38 for next day air, still no delivery of item after 8 days. called alamo and asked why pkg had not shipped. Female employee at Charlotte counter said "Fedex is sometimes slow picking up items we ship" was rude and unprofessional. Rent 30 cars a year for business, and have never had more unprofessional experience. Alamo-National-Enterprise is really one company and they aren't very good at this location. I dropped off a car that ended up with some parking lot damage in their lot, in other words, not on my watch, but I ended up paying for the damage. Then, I ended up on a "do not rent" list, in spite of paying for damage that I didn't do. Their insurance, my insurance, credit card rental car coverage, no one pays for parking lot damage (not a moving vehicle traffic accident) so there was both the undeserved out of pocket expense, then the ongoing insult and inconvenience of being on this list there is no getting off of. We had reserved our rental from Alamo and had confirmed delivery and received a bar-coded printout. When we arrived at the Alamo rental counter there were at least 40 customers in line with three Alamo employees to handle them. Our bar-coded form did not work at the Alamo Kiosk. We manually inserted our driver's license and then our credit card but the Alamo system required us to repeat the choices we originally made when we reserved the car on the Internet, a total waste of time. Finally, we printed our reservation and proceeded to the pickup office. The folks here didn't have much to do all the action was at the rental counter. One of the employees assigned us to a black Camry, but when we arrived at the Toyota there was another driver claiming ownership. We were anxious to start our journey so we requested the next available vehicle and fortunately, it was an SUV. read more

I rented what was supposed to be a premium vehicle at this location. Upon arriving the evening of March 28, 2021 I was given a vehicle that was black, wet and in a dark part of the parking garage. I was exhausted from flying across the country and drove off with the vehicle. It was not until I left that I realized the car reeked of cigarette smoke and the volume and on & off button was missing and the radio was on full blast. It was apparent that Alamo paid little attention into inspecting this vehicle before renting it out or maybe that was an acceptable practice for this location. When I returned the vehicle the Alamo representatives were both extremely rude and blamed me for leaving with the car in that condition. Now over two weeks later I received a letter regarding damages to the vehicle? There was no mention of damages at the time of drop off and I am clearly being blamed for someone else's damages or perhaps this is retaliation for returning the car and complaining. read more

Pricing was very aggressive and website was easy to use. Arrive late and was pleased to see their counter was still manned after most had been vacated earlier in the night. However, good pricing and a staffed counter, made for a thirty minute wait until I could claim my car. Two kiosks where there to do the admin work, but nobody could make them work and they just caused aggravation. Desk was polite, only a mildly aggressive script for upselling, Needed just three minutes to cover all the paperwork and head to the garage to pickout my car. I chose a new VW Passat for $115 for four full days. Decent sized car, m'eh power, decent handling, crappy radio that was hard to tune, but car did have a USB port, all the driver safety aids and backup camera. It was a solid performing car, clean on the inside, hazy and water spotted exterior from a sloppy car wash. Deck crew did well offering and reclaiming this nearly new car. Didn't see too many full sized cars as I had rented, but the midsize Passat was good looking and comfortable car for this trip. I'll be back. First of all, fast check in at the Alamo counter and very courteous agent. Went to get van and checked out the outside and was ok. We left and later on the next day we noticed the gas gauge was half full. No problem as couple days later I filled it up to half tank. When we returned van, we notified the check in person of this and he said he would give us $50 credit. Lo and behold when I got home I checked my credit card statement and NO CREDIT! Additionally, apparently I was also charged for a GPS (I never signed up for that upon renting van) yet was charged $70 for this. I spoke with Alamo on the phone, explained everything and was assured that they would forward my complaints to CLT Alamo and email me. That was 4 or 5 days ago....NOTHING!! read more

We arrived in Charlotte a day late due to connections, no problem, it just means a lower bill, very nice and the rate at the counter was less than the reservation made on line. so nice! Then you get to go to the cars, a short walk, and pick the one you want. too cool. and get in it and see what you think. very cool. so she picked out a nice one in a color she liked and off we went. I arrived in Charlotte after a redeye flight. I had reserved the 'special' vehicle so I did not know what I would be getting. At the counter, the agent said that the special car would be a pick-up truck and would I rather have a full-size car. I asked how much it would be, since cost was a definite consideration for my trip - kind of obvious since I booked the 'special' vehicle. He replied $15/day. I was a little dubious since this was cheaper than the original booking, so I asked 'for a total of...?' He replied $60. I was thrilled and said yes please. As I was filling out paperwork he asked if I needed the upgraded insurance, I said no, and he just said okay you'll take the standard... Now, I know that I signed off paperwork saying what I was doing, but silly me I was not expecting to be 'taken for a ride' by the agent, and it was after a red-eye after all, and I was on the way to open my very first business, so I was not exactly thinking clearly. In any case when I got my bill it was $350! The $60 had been an upgrade (which he never called it, of that I am sure). As far as I am concerned this place was intentionally trying to upcharge me in multiple ways. I will not use them again. read more

We rented a car for about a week. The check in took a very long time as there was only one agent working the counter. Once we were checked in it was pretty simple from there. I especially like that renters now can select the make and model of car from the level reserved. We chose a brand new Kia Optima which was OK - sluggish, not super outfitted with much but comfortable and serviceable. The only mistake I may have made was agreeing to pay for a tank of gas before hand to save me the hassle of filling up before returning the car. We didn't use a full tank and the cost of gas outside the airport was way less than what they charged us per gallon. I think they should have provided information about the cost of gas instead of just posting what they charge. Returning the car was a bit tedious as the signage at this airport is not the best but that's not the rental car company's fault. Once there, returning the vehicle was pretty simple although the attendant did not take time to explain how our charges were computed which I thought were confusing when I finally took the time to review them after returning home. I have rented cars from Alamo in the past in Orlando several years ago and always had a positive experience especially when they would offer a model upgrade for no additional charge. The car was a Chevy Cruz and it looked brand new. Drove well etc. The girl who checked us in was not friendly and tried to trick and scare us into purchasing insurance. When that didn't work she told us gas prices were way higher than we ultimately found out so we purchased the full tank. Ended up only using less than half so that was not a good deal. Lesson learned. We went to pick up the car and there was nobody there to help us so we stood waiting over 15 mins in the heat until someone finally showed up. He looked very busy so maybe they just need more attendants. They were the cheapest rental for the area and the car was great. So 5 stars for car and price. Zero stars for customer service. Picking up and dropping off my car were no problem, however I left something in my vehicle of very high value and they were impossible to get ahold of! I called multiple times and NO ONE ever picked up the phone and then the line would just hang up on you. I called their 800# and the first time they told me just to call the location which I told them I tried and the second time the woman couldn't get through either. She at least sent an email for me with my information, but couldn't provide me an email address. There's also no email online! Finally I had my brother in law go by their location because I was unable to and he just handed them my belongings without even contacting me to verify it was okay!!! They very quickly refunded me not only the difference in the fuel amounts mentioned below, but the entire fuel amount (all $77) for my troubles! Thank you, Alamo, for quickly addressing this issue. I may give you another chance! Customer service is horrible and they lie! I rented a car in ATL where there was complete high pressure sales for the insurance, which I turned down. I told them I wanted to prepay for the gas. They said it would be $40. When I got to CLT and dropped the car off they charged me $77 for gas. I called the toll-free customer service number to complain. Was told they would issue me a refund for the difference but it would take 7-10 business days. 7-10 business days has passed and still no refund! Don't rent from Alamo, and if you do, don't pre-pay for the gas! I have already booked my next two cars through other companies and will never use Alamo again. read more
